Legends 35

Two days had gone past since Paul had disappeared from the rest of the group and they were all unable to find him. They had checked all the nearby towns and cities as well as had Ash travel to a couple of farther ones, but with no avail. Dawn would try to communicate in the morning and then again during the evening. Though he would answer her calls.

"Dawn," May called the blue haired friend over to the campfire and away from the terrible thoughts that plagued her mind. "Come wand eat, Gary and Leaf are back from the store with some actual meat." The stores that they had been taking food from at this point were just offering them food, of course the group still felt bad for taking it at first because they were technically stealing even though the stires were abandoned and the food would be going to waste. The group made sure to take only what they needed and remember the store so that they could go back and apologize after the war was over. Apperently though in the places that's had helped clear the citizens se so thankful that they had been offering the group places to stay and food to eat.

"I'm not hungry." Dawn replied quietly, pushing the food May was handing her away. The brunette leader dripped her expression into a frown, her friend had barely eaten since the dark soul's disappearance. May let out a small sigh taking a seat next to the blue haired beauty.

"You know," Dawn's attention turned to May. "If you really want to find him you'll never be able to if you pass out from starving yourself. Even if you aren't hungry you need the nutrients to function. That's what mom always says when I don't eat before practice." Dawn let a small smile appear on her lips, "here," May handed Dawn her share of the food.

Dawn accepted the plate, setting it on her lap, gazing at the meal as though it was hypnotizing her. "What if something happened to him?"

"Ha," both females turned their attention to look at Ash and Gary, who were laughing and what seemed like Dawn's sentence.

"Guys! It's not funny! He could be hurt!"

"Relax Dee," Dree intruded into the conversation as well. "You really think that Paul of all people cant handle himself? Cause I trust him to do his own thing despite not telling us what is happening."

Gary wrapped an arm around Drew's shoulder, "See Drew gets it." Drew shrugged Gary's arm off him. "Paul will call if he needs anything. I mean seriously, he's smart, if he cant handle something he wont do it alone."

"Gah!" Dawn grabbed the sides of her head suddenly, a sharp pain forming quickly like nothing she had experienced before. It was comparable to the shock she would receive when her team tried to contact her bit millions of times worse.

"Dawn, Dawn can you hear us?"

"Calm down Dawn!"

Their meal was long forgotten as the group of teens gathered around their friend, who was slowly coming back to reality. "Fucking hell," she mumbled beginning to try to stand.

"Easy now," Dawn heard, hands supporting her from each side. "you near about passed out."

"Dawn what happened. Please tell me right now." Dawn registered it as Leaf's voice, sounding much more serious than normal.

"Leaf give her a minute, she's still coming to." Gary, he wasn't fawning over mention girl as usual so Dawn figured she really made a scene for this to happen.

"Way to go Dawn, causing everyone to worry," the blunette said to herself.

"Of course we would worry, you started screaming in pain and then fell to the ground still yelling." Dawn finally opened her eyes wide to see May, her eyes glistening from the light of the fire she had made earlier that evening. "do you know what that was?"

"Dawn, you need to tell us exactly what happened to you." Leaf said making her way to the front of Dawn. "What you just experienced, that is what happened to Paul." Dawn's eyes widened in shock.

Dawn looked panicked, her voice shaking as she began to speak. "It was a man's voice. I didn't recognize it, but he said that even though he had failed the last time he would make sure he wouldn't the second time around." Dawn paused, a small tear escaping her eye. "He is with him, Paul is with him. He said so, saying Paul was a failure, that he shouldn't be alive wither, that he shouldn't have been made a dragon soul." Tears continued to cascade down her porcelain face like a waterfall. She heard that man correctly…..she was supposed to be dead. Paul shouldn't have had his powers. But why? The only way to find out to find was to go get Paul to explain. "I have a general idea of where he is. Let's go."

"Gather you shit ladies and gentlemen. We're gonna have a long night." May spoke, standing upright with a smirk on her face.

"alright, lets have our light lead the way."

"ugh really Gary?" Leaf slapped his arm in a playful manner.

"It should be somewhere around here," Dawn spoke. They had traveled north of the city, now situated around a vast amount of water, part of the ocean to be exact, a large cave and mountainous area to the right. The night was quiet for the time being, though Ash had warned the group of a storm coming.

"Any clue where to go now?" Misty asked as she looked dreamily at the ocean. After Dawn shook her head, the ginger spoke up again. "alright well I'm gonna go put my feet in thr water." The group of teens nodded as Misty headed down to the sand with a smile on her face.

"I guess we should just set up here and rest for the night. It's already late and it'll be hard to search anything in the dark." Ash said as he plopped down onto the grass beneath him. "Besides," he pointed towards where Misty had just headed. "Good luck getting her the leave just yet. The open water helps her re-charge." Misty was floating a top the small waves close to the shore, the moonlight bouncing off her eater coated skin.

"Speaking off recharging." Gary pepped up looking at Drew. "Mind taking me to the top? Probably a lot colder up there than it is down here." Drew looked to where Gary pointed, sighing at the idea of flying him to the too of the mountain. He agreed though, knowing that the while group needed a refresher, especially Gary and Misty.

With Drew and Gary flying off, that left the others at the bonfire May set up for a source of light and warmth. "You guys think we've got a lot of time to rest?" Leaf asked as she formed a stool for herself to sit on.

"We've got a few hours."

Heads turned to the voice that had come from further up the path. Their purple haired companion slowly walking up to them before sitting next to Dawn. No one spoke a word. All too shocked and relieved to see him safe and sound. "the area is cleared. The nearby camp was evacuated. And our final god is on his way."

"The one that contacted us?" Dawn asked, Paul looked at her in utter shock. Had he not known about the possibility of someone else getting spoken to?

"That bastard. I will explain everything once were done with him. So that just means make it through this fight. He wont be going down so easily." Paul looked May in the eyes, he knew mire about this foe than anyone abs she didn't understand why. How would Paul know and only Paul? Was there some sort of connection she didn't catch onto?

"You should take lead." Sapphire eyes determined but he shook his head. "You clearly know what we're up against, you are mist fitted."

"Look, he's coming after me first. I know that much. Dawn stays back and will only heal during this-"

"I will not sit back and watch you all get hurt."

"You will."

"No I-"

"You will!" Paul shouted back at Dawn. Everyone stayed silent, never having heard him lose his temper. He was always so composed, blocking out all emotions the best he could. But now, that façade seemed gone, true feelings seeping through the cracks. "Dawn will heal, not fight. Do the best you can to tag team him. I'll be doing my best to keep him distracted. We've got our work cut out for us this time. May leads us."

"Fine, we'll go with it. I'll lead the team the best I can." Dawn looked at May, upset that she would agree to go through with the idea that she could just sit back and watch as her friends got hurt.

"I can fight."

"I never said you couldn't." Paul threw back at Dawn almost instantly.

"Then why am I not allowed to!"

"Because you need to heal wounded."

"Is that all I'm fucking good for! I killed Eclipse. You hesitated! You could have but you didn't!" Dawn now stood face to face with Paul. "I am more useful than sitting around twiddling my god damn thumbs."

A figure descended next to May, grabbing her by the shoulder as she watch the two argue it out. "What's wrong with the happy couple? No great reunited make out?"

"I know right? Breaking all the romance movie codes." May looked up to Drew who was folding his wings back to keep them out of the way of everybody.

"You need to stay back because you are important!" Paul's eyes widened realizing the words that came from his mouth. He was a thinker though, quick to come up with things. "If you go down everyone stays down. That's why you stay back."

"How the hell do you even know what were up against? We should all be fighting." Dawn hadn't seemed fazed by his statement in the least. Caught up too much in the argument they had.

"That god damn car crash? Ya, the thing that should've killed you and your parents? That thing that caused you to go through all that god damn pain?" Dawn froze at the memory. "It was all a fucking plan. A god damn plan." Everyone froze, listening to the thing that Paul said.

"You said…..you said your father…..he was drunk…..he blew the light." Things weren't adding up, he had told her…..his dad, he died that night.

"He had twice the legal alcohol limit, he had no heartbeat. He was cremated and thrown away. That's what I was told. My whole fucking life is a lie." Knuckles began to turn white as the anger began to enrage the boy. "How the hell do you think I have so much knowledge of this last fucking god? Why di you think I just took off? Huh? I heard that fucking voice and all my damn nightmares came rushing back to me.

Those stupid nightmares haunted my childhood. So many therapists, prescriptions, money, it was all wasted because my father fucking died. My god damn nightmare is back. The fucker was dead all along and I felt pity for him for years. Yet here I am now about to go set all my little daddy issue's back on track." Paul's breathing was heavy, half his body had disappeared due to not being able to control his emotions. "I'm about to go kill my blood related, good for nothing, fucking father."

And that's cut on this chapter. I apologize for the delay. I had it all written up and then I managed to pack my notebook in box and just found it the other night after moving. But hey, plot twist. And all sorts of fore-shadowing from like 10 chapter in. I had a plan on where to go with this story. Somehow . I managed to remember it all this time.

But anyways, only about 5 more chapter left so going by amazing updating skills should be anywhere from 5 weeks to like a year. I'll try to write and finish the whole thing up as soon as I can but until then just bare with me, I'll get it done.
