Chapter 8: Family Again

This is the last chapter.

Jason was eating breakfast. Robin sat down beside him and put an arm around his shoulders. He glared at him, but he secretly loved him. Bruce smiled at them.

"Robin, I have some good news," said Bruce. Robin looked up and his arm tightened around Jason's shoulders.

"What?" asked Robin.

"Joker is back in jail. You can go back to Titans Tower," said Batman.

"AWESOME!" shouted Robin. Jason gave him a slightly hurt look. He pushed Robin away from him and got up from his seat. He stormed off with tears in his eyes. He started to run the moment he was out of sight of Robin. He slammed his bedroom door closed and locked it behind him. His knees gave out. He slid to the ground. He wrapped his arms around his knees and sobbed into them. Do I really mean that little to you, thought Jason, I thought you loved me.

There was a knock on the door. "Go away," said Jason with a voice that screamed he was crying.

"It's me, Jason. Beast Boy," said the person on the other side of the door. Jason stood up slowly. He wiped his eyes and nose with his sleeve. He unlocked the door and opened it.

"What do you want?" asked Jason, looking at the ground.

"I just want to know what's wrong," said Beast Boy. They sat down on Jason's bed.

"He hates me," said Jason.

"Who?" asked Beast Boy.

"Dick," answered Jason, and he started sobbing again. Beast Boy held him and let him sob into his shoulder. Beast Boy and Jason didn't notice that Robin had come in at this point.

"I don't think he hates you. Why do you think that?" asked Beast Boy.

"Yes, he does. I know he does because he can go home and he was so excited about it," said Jason.

"I don't hate you, Jason. I'm sorry I made you think that," said Robin, and he hugged him tightly. Bruce came in and hugged both his boys. Beast Boy left quietly. Robin smiled his thanks and Beast Boy nodded.

"But you were so eager to leave me," said Jason.

"No, Jason. I was eager to get back to protecting Jump City. Besides me and Bruce were thinking about letting you join the Teen Titans," said Robin.

"You were?" asked Jason.

"Yeah, I figured you won't just give up the night life and you would be safer in Jump with Robin than here with me. I don't want you having all the bad memories this place brings up," said Bruce. They smiled. Robin couldn't help but grin. He had a family again.
