Caramell—What?
Mello unlocked the door as quietly as he possibly could with an armful of groceries. He was not supposed to be home for another six hours or so but had left early to surprise Matt—It was a special day to them after all. The one where Mello had finally gotten fed up with not knowing, four years ago and had pushed Matt against the wall and kissed him. Yeah, their anniversary.
He had told Rod and the other incompetent idiots that composed of L.A's mafia that under no uncertain terms was he to be disturbed today. The place could be burning to the ground and he was not to be bothered. He should only be so lucky though. Mello set the ingredients for dinner—and desert—on the counter and went in search of his lover. Matt was not in the expected spot on the couch and instead Mello heard feint music coming from under the bedrooms closed door. Toeing off his boots, Mello moved as quietly down the hall as he could. Though with how loud the music seemed to be he doubted Matt would have heard him if he had stomped.
Unsure as what to expect he slowly turned the bedrooms doorknob and peaked inside. Loud unidentifiable techno style music assaulted his ears and high pitched singing—was that even a language?—rang out. The thing that really had Mello staring was Matt, who was flailing about as he sat on his chair. What. The. Fuck?
It was the same repetitive movements and Mello quickly realized it was some form of dancing; if Matt ever did that to him in public he might rethink not harming him. The song ended and was repeated, only in a different language, one that Matt saw fit to sing along with. The only words Mello was really able to catch started with 'caramell' and he missed the last part. He face-palmed with a heavy sigh. His lover was a freak, he really was.
Matt suddenly froze even as the song continued and hesitantly craned his neck towards Mello. Guess he had sighed a little too loud. "Mello what are you doing home?" Was the response he got.
"Love you too, Matty." Mello rolled his eyes and leaned on the door frame as Matt scrambled to turn the volume down, failing to find the mouse quick enough to pause it.
"I didn't mean it like that Mel," Matt said and lazily got up from his seat, smiling widely as he shuffled over. Mello returned the smile as Matt leaned in to kiss him. He let Matt do as he pleased, eventually ending with them both a little breathless and him pinned to the door frame.
"So," Mello started, "what freak dance were you doing before you realized you weren't alone?" Something he and Matt were going to have a long chat about when he didn't want to ruin the mood. Mello was far from stupid enough to believe his men didn't try and tail him. They could fight about Matt's lack of attentiveness another day, however.
Matt blushed, the soft pink spreading lightly over his freckled skin. "Um, Caramelldansen..." Matt trailed off and was clearly embarrassed at having been caught. Mello shook his head with a soft laugh.
"You really can be such a dork," he trailed his fingers across the redheads cheek, "but I love you anyway." The smile he received was worth having to listen to Matt's crappy choice in music.
"I love you too, happy anniversary Mel."
He may or may not have pinched the redhead in a place that made him squeak, and slipped away to walk back into the kitchen.
"Where are you going?" Matt whined.
"To start dinner so we can have a very happy anniversary later on." He smirked as Matt raced passed him and started unpacking when he noticed the bags. And it would be a happy anniversary if Mello never heard that song again either.
