Consequence
"For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. You receive from the world what you give to the world." – Gary Zukav
As a scientist, he should have known the risks. He did know the risks, actually, but he chose to ignore them.
As a person, he should have known how immoral his acts were, to dabble into the darkness, to disregard his master's wishes. He chose to proceed with his experiments anyway.
As a protector to Ienzo, he should have known how his research would affect the boy as well. The child was no longer normal, and he never would be again.
The nagging feeling in his side, the pain in his gut, he just buries deep down. The deeper you are, the harder it is to pull out.
And soon enough, his gut feeling is right. That day in the laboratory was ordinary enough. But he doesn't suspect there would be a traitor amongst them. None of them did.
The would-be traitor does not try to hide his intentions, does not try to stop himself from doing the wrong thing. He has no heart – this is not wrong, nor is it right. The intricately styled blue Keyblade remains at his side.
Even studies Xehanort curiously, green eyes fixed on gold. Ienzo is at his side, examining him with an identical questioning stare.
He attacks with grace, thrusting his weapon deep into the blonde's heart first. The blue haired, blue eyed boy is punctured next. They do not scream or plead with their lives. This was a moment meant to happen.
Even is conscious long enough to hear Braig hit the ground, too. And then, a wave of nothingness covers him, swallowing him whole. It is a feeling like no other, to exist and to not exist at the same time. To be a Nobody.
There is no pain, no agony. He had a life, but lost it. And so, in the end, it was a consequence deserved.
