Chapter 10

Kingdom of Glacies ( 1 hr after the fight but a 4 hours time difference ahead of Cymatilis) 9:45 pm

"Princess your tea is ready... Princess?" A maid in a simple navy blue kimono with a ice blue obi looks all over the princess's bedroom.

The maid's chestnut hair was tied in a tight bun. Her face was hidden by a white veil that was thin enough to look through but made it unable to see the maid's face. Ever since the princess was born, a councilmen required that all female staff members must wear a veil over their face. He made the other councilmens to agree to his demand. When she asked her brother on why that was required, he would just smile and say it was to protect the girls' honor.

She doubted his explanation since being part of the staff she know that most of the staff come from a long lineage of serving the family and they take pride of there lineage, but she didn't told her brother her doubts. Instead, she had accepted the rule and only showed her face when she was in her home. Her guardian always emphasize that she only take the veil off at home.

She look through the exceptionally plain room... for a princess. She had expected chest full with jewels and gold, gold and jewel decorated all over the wall, or a small-room size bed made out of pure gold and golden robes.

Instead, there was a beautiful king size bed that had carving of lilies and orchid on the bed frame. On the center of the bed frame was a ice dragon phoenix flying up ward as if it was flying in a circle. The bed sheet were silk blue and the comforter could be compare to the night sky. This was different than the maid sleeping mat. The maid couldn't help but sigh with longing. The princess's bed was on the side of the room closest to the door, but the area farthest from the door seem to be untouched and the room was divided by fabrics. The balcony in the princess traditional room look to be the divider of the room. In Yellow and Sapphire's world it would have look like a traditional style symmetrical Japanese bedroom.

The snow white curtain look like freshly crisp snow and the pink curtain glisten and was soft as a cherry blossom petal. Pink and white were always her favorite. She couldn't help but look through the curtain. There behind the curtain was a beautifully craft baby bed that was carve with cherry blossom and other type of blossoms. The carriage had an engrave box with a ice Phoenix flying in a circle, similar to the one on the princess's bed but in a lighter shade and had white eyes, flying downward.

The maid felt the need to open the box. She felt as if something was calling her to open it. As ludicrous as it sound, she felt like it belong to her. That crazy, I'm just a poor girl! Like anything this beautiful could belong to me... Maybe just one look would't hurt. Before the maid could touch the box, the princess's voice cut through the silence.

"If you touch this in front of any guard you would be punish. If you had touch the box and it content you would have been paralyzed. The queen will then punish or banish."

Lyra turn sharply. The princess had a stern stare. The princess was in a simple navy blue kimono that reach her knee. Her obi was ice blue but small and thin, and she was also wearing a white lab coat. The princess had waist long hair was in a low ponytail. She look like a scientist than a princess.

"I'm sorry! I came to give you your tea but you weren't here and I got curious so I wanted to take a look and... And... Wahhhh" the maid flail her arm as she fell in her knee. If she was punish her brother will try to take the punishment for her instead.

"Don't worry. I was just warning you. What is your name?" Crystal kneel in front of the girl and smiled as if she was comforting a child who got lost.

" Lyra... My name is Lyra. I had been just assign as your personal maid today." Lyra wipe off her tear.

"Nice to meet you Lyra call me Crystal. Since your my personal maid you will become my new assistant. Come with me. I just got information from the prince of Ignis."

5:45 pm Cymatilis

"What the heck happen? Why are we in the healer room?" Gold finally woke up. He look around for either Red or Black, only to find his brother sleeping. Red was looking a bit stiff on another bed next to him. Red slowly stirred from his slumber when he heard his brother screaming.

"So, you are finally up? That's good. I thought I have to dump a pail of water on you. Haha, that would not have ended so well now that I think about it." Black place down the bucket of water and shut the door quickly.

Red tried to rub his eyes but his arm felt too stiff too move. What did that kid do to me? He tried to shift position to look at Black but every movement hurt a lot.

"Don't worry buddy, I got you." Black helped Red sit up straight on his bed before the prince hurt himself or fell off the bed.

He had gain the ability to move after a hour or so after the fight. Since no one was in the room at the time, he just fell asleep. Now, his body felt soar. His face still hurt from that girl kicking him. Red rub his cheek. "Well I got good news and bad news. Bad news is that we lost to the maid and the gardener. Good news is that we don't need to guard the princess and there someone worth battling!"

Gold paled as he remember him passing out but he couldn't remember who did it. He look down to see if he got any other injury and scream when he saw his arm. His left sleeve was completely gone! "Did the maid knock me out?! I remember fighting her! That girl need to control her fire or she going to burn everything in sight! Damn,She owes me a new shirt!"

Red chuckle at how his brother was more focus about his shirt than the fact they lost. "Not really. She burned your sleeve to ashes, she couldn't really control her element well, and she put up a good fight with you. I thought she hurt you or burnt severely since you scream so loud. I was fighting her by the time you pass out. She ran out of energy real fast and that all I needed to do was kick her. She was out like a candle. Her brother on the other hand..."

"That little runt beat me...The pacifist, who didn't want to fight, beated me! You gotta be kidding me! Did he use his element on me or something?" He look at his left arm, he recalled the maid's attack. She had no control of the temperature of her flame. How was she able to burn my sleeve but not burn my arm. He thought he had felt an unbearable pain on his arm, but maybe it was all in his head.

"Not that I recall. I didn't saw much since most of my attention was on tiring the girl out. For a guy with short legs,he was really fast! Maybe even faster than Ruby."

Black set a chair in the middle of the two princes' bed. "The fight was the most oddest fight I ever saw. Not only did you lost to a kid, but all he did was jab you a couple of time, then hit your neck, and both of you pass out! He didn't even use his element and his sister looks like a complete beginner."

Gold eyes went wide as saucer, he look at Red as if he was Green wearing a puffy pink dress with a tiara and butterfly wand with ribbons."You lost to the kid... You, the guy that is the strongest of all the prince and princess,the guy that beat both Blue and Green! The freaking person that everyone dreams of beating, lost to a shrimp who practically look like a girl and who probably not even a elementalist! What did that kid do...?" Gold remembered how the boy tear up when he said he didn't want to battle. Maybe it was to take our guard down.

"Just because he is not an elementalist or doesn't have any muscle does not mean he would be weak. He had more agility, endurance, and speed than any one I know, he even better than me in the speed and agility section. I can't wait to train with him later!" A goofy smile spread on Red's face as he thought about battling Yellow again.

"Yeah yeah yeah. Don't we got a ball to get ready for?" Gold got up his bed and stretch.

After a moment of silence, Black comment. "How does a pacifist learn how to fight if they hate violence?" Both princes look at Black.

"Not a clue..."

"No ideas..."

6:00pm

"Yellow! What in the name of the moon did you do to them? I just heard from the head healer that Gold woke up. It has been a long time since the fight. Not that I care about them, but still, what you did was shocking!"

Blue had to leave after the fight to discuss with her father and the councilmen on the guard issue, so she wasn't able to ask Yellow on what she did to make both of the princes to pass out.

Right now, they were currently getting ready for the ball that was meant for the arrival for the princes. Blue had gotten ready already and was currently helping Yellow dress up in Blue's bathroom. Her bathroom reminded Yellow of a marble indoor pool from a high class hotel. There were pillars near the walls with gold carving and the view was gorgeous view of the ocean, the position was just right for the moon light to constantly hit the room.

Blue was wearing a moonlight silver silk dress with a bright blue gem in the center of her chest. Her dress stop on her sleeve but continue to her wrist in a flowery lace. In her mid section/chest to the hip, a starlight fabric was in the center. Frills come out of the starlight fabric. Her hairs was in long curls and her front hair was pulled in a delicate small bun.

The dye that was place on Yellow's hair was still on. Both Sapphire and Yellow were invited to guard her. Her father was still worried about her well being, but he doesn't question the guards she chosen. Sapphire was to accompany her, while Yellow will be part of the staff dress as a girl. Blue wasn't letting Yellow become a target for the men that will be attending the ball, especially Gold. Gold have a habit of starting fight at balls. Her being a girl when everyone thought she was a boy makes thing easy.

Beside, Blue wanted to dress her as a girl. Blue look at the mixture in her hand. She was going to make Yellow hair change slightly so she was nearly unrecognizable. She gently rub the mixture into Yellow's hair and then massaged it thoroughly throughout Yellow's hair.

"It wasn't anything special. I just hit there pressure points and their weight did all the rest."

"... What are pressure points?" Yellow and Sapphire tend to use terms that Blue had never heard of. It was fascinating to learn about a different world.

"Uhhh, well... It is like there are certain part of the body that are the body weak points. With enough pressure it could hurt a lot and in certain combination it could immobilize someone." Yellow looks at the mirror as she watch the brown hair turn goldish brown.

White had turn her eyes to a sea foam color. Yellow could barely recognized herself. Blue didn't thought it was necessary to change Yellow so much, but she was having fun dressing someone other than Silver and White. Sapphire was in White care.

"You know what, I think I'm going to let yet accompany me at the ball too. You look too cute to be wasted on a maid outfit. Sigh, Gold and Red might not recognize you, but Black will defiantly will. It like he have a radar to detect people he want to battle. I know! I will change the maid uniform 24 to maid uniform 35!"

Blue went to the patio and shrunk her water Phoenixes. "Please tell the waits staff and the cook to change from uniform 24 to uniform 35." With that her Phoenixes vanish into thin air.

Seconds later White's scream was heard from the other room."Blue you can't change the uniform in the last minute!"

"Hee hee, now let see if we have a spare of uniform 35."

Glacies 10:15pm

"Princess Crystal, you can't seriously trust me with this information! I just became your personal maid today and you show me your own private lab! Usually, high class people give personal maid there schedules on when they want tea." Lyra couldn't understand how the princess have her own lab or that there was so much technology she never saw before.

"The reason why you are chosen as my personal maid is because you are smart. I had check every maid and you were one of the brightest. Not going to lie but it was hard to find you or even know who you were with the whole vail thing."

Lyra reluctantly look at the lab coat that the princess has offer her. "Princess, I am flatter that you think I'm smart but wasn't the lab in the kingdom researching on a way to end this war with the unknown? They don't need any more help and they are also qualify people! I'm just a maid and I never even went to school! I can't help you, I couldn't even if I wanted to..."

Crystal hate the fact she can't see Lyra face. She couldn't see how she was reacting but she can hear the distress in Lyra's voice. She also hate how the girl see herself. "Many great genius comes from poor upbringing. I'm asking for your help because this is my own personal research. It use to be enough for the kingdoms to handle the crisis. For a long time the kingdoms research team were learning to keep them at bay but that is not enough. They wouldn't look into the origin of the creature they label as "shadows". Their only goal was to shoot and destroy. I never consider the origin of a shadow or what they were until I saw something in the kingdom of Gaia..." The princess shuddered as she recalled the memory that haunted her for months.

Note: I change Platina's, Dia and Pearl kingdom to Gaia because it mean earth in Greek. I have issues with terra because I'm a strong raven and beastboy fan!

"After that I begged the research team to help me figure out the Shadows and not to find ways to kill the things and-"

"Princess, those things have killed so many of us! We need to protect ourselves so why must we not hurt them?" Crystal was so confuse on the princess response.

"It's complicated. It is just an hypothesis I have but we can't harm them. Just focus on what I'm telling you. They just told me to back off and that they had it under control. So if they aren't going to research it, I will. Emerald and I were able to get valuable information, but lately more shadows have been appearing. It use to be one or two that attacked every so often, but now it as if they hunt in packs, harming villages constantly! I need to get to the bottom of this, so I need your help."

Lyra sighs as she place the lab coat on. She didn't thought that a research team will ignore a princess's command. Looking at the princess, she could see the determination in Crystal's eyes...there was also fear in her eyes. Lyra smile as she thought how her boring life just got more exciting. Just thinking about doing something other then cleaning was making her even more excited. "Well, what do you need help on? I'm ready to work!"

Crystal smile and held up a vile. "The prince of Ignis sent this just an hour ago. He state that he got this from the kingdom of Cymatilis. The kingdom of Cymatilis was never attacked before. They don't even know what shadows are! They have amazing water elementalist and the princess is one of the best water Elementalist in the world, but without knowledge of the enemy they should have failed. The castle should have fallen. From Red descriptions on the Shadows, they were darker and stronger than the usual shadows. Yet they survived with no casualties and this was what remain of the shadows. Red also describe something weird that happen. Before Pika could describe what was weird, he vanish. Red must had pass out or something."

"How could this be? From what I hear from the solider that are hard to kill!" The remains look pretty... Do shadows even left remain or is it a corpse?

" I don't know, I had sent some of the sample to Emerald to confirm that it is a shadow remains. We need to find out on why it attacked the kingdom and what else is mix in with the remains."

Lyra put on her concentrating pose. Since no one can see her face she got a habit on showing her emotions through poses. She place one hand on her hip and her index finger to her chin."Hmmm, we will have to wait for Councilmen Emerald report. I don't know why but I think you should check the spirits that live in this kingdom. Just a few hours ago they were out of control and erratic... Princess, I am not sure that you know, but the sacred temple... The ice had melted."

Crystal eyes went wide. How could this be! According to mother, the temple had been frozen since the princesses disappeared!

"Yet nobody told me about this earlier! Come on. While we are waiting for Emerald we need to check on the temple." Crystal place a hand on her the kingdom pendent. Her eyes furrow. Why is this happening? First that happen and now this! What going on?!

She recalled what happen hours ago. Her kingdom's pendent glow so bright that it practically consume her, the light snow became heavy and swirled around her. She swear that she saw the full moon glow brighter in the mid afternoon sky!

8:35 pm

"Blue just kill me right now! End my life... After a few more minute." Sapphire look at the food. She hadn't eaten all day.

"Tut tut can you be a little more cute?" Blue frown playfully at Sapphire. White had dress Sapphire in one if her of older dress. A dark navy dress that show off her shoulder but sleeve goes up to her wrist. The top of the dress was velvety smooth and the center was in silver lace. The waist had a small silver ribbon going to the mid of her waist into a point. Her hair was in it usual style but now there were small sea foam blue crystal flower on her bun.

"Here, you go. I got a bit of everything and I got a drink that have no alcohol. I ask what the drink was and they said it was made from a fruit that I can't pronounce but it taste amazing! White, I got a question!" Yellow, who was in a blue and white Lolita style maid dress, flag White down. Her hair was in two loose braid and it was still in the goldish brown that Blue put on her hair. Blue noted how red Yellow's face was.

White almost tripped when she heard herself being called. Why now? She was about to serve drinks to the group that the princes were around when Yellow called. She wished she could just pardon herself and not return but her almost trip almost spilled her drinks and one glass spilled a bit on one of the Ignis's councilmen shirt. "I'm sorry sir. I will try to clean it up. I will be back soon after I talk to the princess." She hate dealing with messes, especially when it at balls.

Black place his hand on her shoulder as she turn away."No, it's fine. It just a small stain. Beside, it looks like your friend and princess need you." Black point toward the princess with a chuckle.

White could hear the princes and the group chuckle as well. Before she could ask what was so funny she heard someone call her name. White turn around and pale as she saw Yellow swinging her arms like a mad man with a goofy smile on her flushed face. "Whitttteeee, I need to ask you a question?!" Yellow's voice could have been heard throughout the whole ballroom.

White flush as she quietly said thanks to Black and left. Black look at White with a smile. Looks like she is all better and she look unharmed... Her friend seem familiar. Probably saw her around the castle or something.

"So she got the mystery drink. I was hoping it was one of the high class ladies or gentleman." Gold laugh even louder as he saw the girl tackle White.

Red arch his eyes brow and with a stern voice he states. "Gold, what did you do?" He would hate to clean up one of his brother prank in the middle of the ball.

"Oh, look at the time. I better start eating before all the good food is out." With that Gold ran for his life to the buffet table.

"Should we tell Blue and apologies to the girl or not?" Red saw how fond Blue was of the girl. She was practically glowing. He hadn't saw her glow like that since Amarillo disappeared. After that Blue seem a bit depress when her, Green and Red were together. She try to hide it, but they knew her act. He could barely remember the lost princess, but what he does recall of memories of her and they were always happy together. He decided to leave it for now or he would be sending his brother to an early grave.

Blue couldn't help but laugh at Yellow funny state. Yellow was so cuddly at the moment. She had move from White, to Sapphire, she practically tried to tackle Silver to hug but he bolted as soon as Yellow running toward him. Yellow was now cuddling Blue's arm as Blue greeted guests. She was going to kill Gold when she see him. He did a similar trick a few balls ago and poor Platina was practically followed by random men the whole night. For now, she was going to enjoy Yellow company.

"Yellow, what were you going to tell me?"

Yellow place a finger on her chin trying to recall what she was going to tell White. "Umm... Oh yeah, ummm... Listen to this... I'm gonna tell yah a story... About a little guy who lived in a blue world, and all day and all night and everything he sees is blue like him... Inside and outside." Yellow hums the rest of the song as she began to sway on Blue's arm.

"A blue guy? A Blue guy... Blue's guy! Do you mean Red or Green? Blue's world? Then it is definitely G-"

Blue stuffed White a piece of meat from Sapphire plate.

Blue spoke in a sickly sweet smile. "White, you should try this! This and this also this." She had grab Sapphire's fork and start stuffing food down the girl throat.

"Hey! That's mine."

Yellow began to calm down. Her face was no longer crimson red and she didn't felt as loopy as when she first drank the drink anymore. She still felt dizzy. Maybe some fresh air would help. She told Blue that she was going to the bathroom and left to find some opening. The ball was being held in the throne room and there were multiple balconies leading to the view of the ocean. Yellow felt relief as she exit the room into one of the balcony.

The cool air, the sound of the ocean and the moon hanging over the sky added to the beauty. She felt better as she smell the untainted smell of the ocean. There was no pollution that was as extreme as their world. The earth felt so raw and natural that it send her at ease.

If this was like an anime the heroine will be singing a song that the protagonist fall for. She chuckle at the thought. An anime song fit perfectly to this scenery. She still felt the giddiness from the drink she took from the table to see which one Sapphire would prefer (she like a tarty little sweet drink). She looks around to see if anyone was around and to see if any one can hear her. The music from the ball seem loud enough to block me and no one looking soooo...

(Note! This song is from Marcross Frontier, Aimo~ Tori No hito (bird humans). Its in Japanese so the translation may sound weird.)

Yellow inhale softly. She moves closer to the ledge and look at the ocean as she began to sing.

Red was passing the area when her heard someone singing. The band had stop playing for a break so he could hear the voice clearly. He never heard those words before. He snuck a glance and saw that it was the maid that drank Gold's spike drink. I feel bad for thinking this but I'm glad she drank it. She sings beautifully.

"Red what are you do-" Red place his hand over his brother mouth. Black and Gold were confuse until they heard the strange song.

She pause as she listen to the sound of the waves. She felt at peace. She couldn't do this in her world because there to much people and it feel strange. Here, it feel right.

The great, great affection that sleeps in my chest,

By now a lot of people had circle around the entrance of the balcony listening to the girl sing the song that nobody ever heard of. Blue, White, and Sapphire were among the spectators they arrive shortly after Black and Gold. Blue notice that the ocean's wave seem to have gotten stronger and the breeze was also picking up. She also took notice that Yellow was oblivious to the crowd. She smirk as she predicts Yellow's reaction.

The great, great affection that sleeps in my chest,

As Yellow hold the last note she smiles softly at the moon. Before she could continue gazing at the moon she heard something that made her stomach plummet. Behind her she heard a lot of people clapping and from the sound of it there was a lot! She instantly paled, the effect from the drink completely worn off. What are you suppose to do when almost everybody heard you sing randomly? Scream, run, walk away or WHAT?! She settle with bowing and speed walking away.

End at 9:15pm

Ruby looked at the night sky. The sunrise was 5 hours away. He didn't felt tired and just felt like sitting in his favorite spot. That is when he heard the song. He just close his eyes and hum the song he just heard. He just kept sitting on the top of the castle highest point with no plan of sleeping that night and continue looking at the moonlit mountains, his kingdom.

Dear readers I'm sorry it took so long. a lot of stuff going on! I will try to work faster and thank you for liking my story. I doodle this story but none of them are complete yet. Also remember time difference.

I am going to sound greedy but I love reviews. It encourage me to write/ type faster. Also it tell me if you like it. Thank you for being so patient and I hope you like it. Also I might add to this chapter later. It feel to tiny for me.
