The great escape

Humphreys POV:

Life has been really difficult these last few days all because of the heat season that has struck my parents pack. Multiple girls have been caught and received a yelling from my father and mother along with Winston and Eve for trespassing into the other packs territory without permission. All these girls did have the same reason though and that reason was me since whenever they came into the territory they were all looking for me. Some of these girls were worse than others in my opinion since they tried to get to me through Bella and in my opinion this method was just low. They were trying to spend time with her in the hopes that she would begin to see them as a mother figure in her life but they all failed since I made sure to take my daughter away from them the second I found out that they were near my daughter. Fortunately, Bella hadn't taken a liking to any of those girls and was glad I had chased them off before they could do anything more to annoy her in any way. When it comes to a mother figure I would let her decide and there was no way on earth I was ever going to let any woman force their way into becoming my little girl's mother figure just to get to me. Angela was the worst of them all though since she didn't just try to get to me through my daughter but also through my friends and parents along with showing up at my regular hangouts just to bump into me 'accidently' but I know she does it on purpose. My friends were getting tired of her to since she'd constantly bother them for information about me like what I like to do, what my favorite type of meat is, where I hang out and what I like in a girl. She was beginning to stop thinking of her as a girl who liked me but my own personal stalker which is what I used to see Kate as but she was way worse.

Kates and me have been doing better since we just started hanging out like we used to when we were younger and I will admit it was nice to just have a friend back but it will still be a while before I saw her as anything other than a friend. Some wounds take longer to heal than others I suppose since the wound she gave my heart was far too deep to be healed within just a few days. Bella seemed to like her though which is the reason why I decided to give her the chance even though at times I was beginning to feel like I shouldn't have. The guys had also taken a liking to her since they now considered her their little niece which was adorable since she always called them her uncles. It was so adorable when she called them Uncles Salty, Shakey and Mooch for the first time that it just made my heart flutter. She still hung out with the other pups that I had saved but only under strict supervision and I made sure that the ones supervising the playdates knew to keep Angela and the other girls away from my daughter. They understood having met some of the girls in the past and knew their reasons for wanting to be near my daughter.

Presently Bella was at another play date with her friend Samantha while I was out hunting for Winston. I was laying low in the grass slowly approaching two caribous who were grazing in the grass. I kept low and watched my step to avoid making any noise so I wouldn't alert my prey. Slowly I advanced towards the caribou when I caught whiff of something I knew all too well. Angela was nearby probably going to try seduce me again, invite me over to her place for lunch or dinner, tell me what a precious thing my daughter was and how she should grow up with a proper mother figure to teach her how to be a good mate while saying how she would be a wonderful mother someday or just watch me hunt before complimenting me on my skills. I just hope this hunt doesn't end the same way the last one she intruded on did. That one ended with a large stampede, me getting a good long run for an hour, twisting my hind paw leaving me den ridden for three days, my hunt almost being ruined and the two caribou I took down were trampled by the stampede. It was still edible but the quality wasn't as good since they were slightly flattened. Nobody was too happy about that and my parents did have a long talk with her after that.

Sadly my hopes of her not ruining my hunt were ruined as I heard her yell out my name which alerted the caribou to someone else being near. They raised their heads looking around unfortunately that also gave away her scent. They ran off but I chased after them so I would at least be able to try and be able to feed the pack. I was to catch up to one and grab onto its neck making it tumble down bleeding allowing me to go after the other one which had just turned a corner. I chased after it but the second I turned the corner I ran back since a stampede had begun. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me to avoid being trampled to death by the caribou. As I ran down the valley with the caribou right on my tail. I knew that I couldn't run forever so I had to come up with a plan and fast or risk being trampled. As I ran I saw that the caribou had made it to my sides meaning my escape just became much more difficult. I saw a branch stuck out from high up the valley side. Thinking quick I ran to the side and hopped on one of the caribous back and made a quick jump for the branch after quickly sinking my fangs into the caribous neck and used it to swing up to the branch. I then latched onto the branch with my fangs and swung up onto a nearby ledge.

Once the stampeded had passed I heard applauding from the ledge on the other side of the valley. I looked up towards the sound and saw Angela sitting there looking down at me. She then yelled down at me. "Humphrey that was absolutely amazing. The way you took down a caribou while making your escape from the stampede." I just glared before I heard Winston's voice from above say. "Humphrey get back to the pack." I looked up and saw him glaring at Angela before saying. "You go home." She opened her mouth to say something but Winston just yelled. "NOW!" She looked down before walking away. I let out a sigh of relief before climbing up from the ledge. Winston smiled at me and said. "That was quite an escape you made Humphrey." I replied. "Thank you sir but I doubt I would have had to make it if Angela hadn't wrecked my hunt." He nodded before saying. "Don't worry Humphrey I'll talk to your parents and try to have her remain in their territory under constant watch." I nodded and said. "I appreciate that." Before I made my way back to the pack.

AN: Hey guys sorry this isn't long but I'm still forcing it out. I'm trying to write a murder mystery novel which is not easy. I'm still having trouble getting out of this rut but I'll try to do better.
