Hi everyone! Sorry for the long wait. I hope you enjoy this next chapter. A lot of questions are going to be answered...with new questions to follow.
Enjoy!
Halloweenverse
Kendall had to admit...he didn't know much about pirates. Granted, as a young American boy, he should have probably shown a bit more interest in it growing up considering how popular it was among his gender. He knew Carlos loved anything pirate related, considering the basic requirement of piracy was sword fighting, violence and wearing funny outfits. And James had dressed up as Captain Jack Sparrow once for Halloween back home, making loads of their female classmates fall in love with him...again.
Even Logan had brushed up on some facts and lore concerning pirates for an oral history assignment on the aspects of piracy influencing some kind of special trade that went on back...whenever it happened. But Kendall couldn't remember what it was called...or why it was even important.
Whatever.
But for him, pirates were nothing compared to the living exhilaration of sports. Which he excelled at, thank you very much. He had always thought, why read about or pretend to be having an adventure with a sword when you could live one with a hockey stick?
And yet, now, he was seriously regretting zoning out during Logan's practice speech as a very real pirate held a very real sword up to his own very real throat.
They were really doomed.
Instead of focusing on his predicament, he decided to focus on his strange new surroundings. The hull of the ship was torn open, exposing its bottom side as an entrance for the group to walk through. Inside, Kendall was still astonished at what he saw, despite the décor being what he expected.
Wood, dirt and dust lined each corner. With everything sideways he could barely make out what lined the walls, but half lit lanterns and the pyres from outside gave just enough light that he could walk without tripping. Old oil paintings that reminded him of museums lined the walls. Some depicted men or women, or both, in old 17th century garb standing, sitting, but basically looking bored. A few of the paintings were ripped, or covered with a white tarp. Other paintings were of ships at sea, most looking like pirate ships tossed about on an open, and angry, ocean.
Swords, axes, mallets and muskets, as well as other forms of weaponry, also shared the walls. Kendall quickly glanced over them, as they made him nervous. Various other pirate related items were scattered through out the ship, reminding him of the interior of One-Eyed Willie's vessel from the movie Goonies. Open and closed wooden chests, pirate clothes and boots, and candelabras lit with various half melted candles scattered the area. He was half expecting Jack Sparrow to walk into the room, spouting nonsense and being great at it.
Trying not to get too distracted, Kendall kept glancing over to Logan and Katie, making sure they were okay. Though he knew if anything happened he was helpless to stop it, he still was on high alert...just in case. Two of the pirates who captured them were also busy trying to wrestle a hold on Katie's broom, who kept squirming and jerking back and forth to get out of their meaty grips.
"So little witch," Lucy began as she walked over to the end of the room. A large chair with tattered red cushions and fading gold lining resembled a poor regal throne, and Lucy flopped on it with the grace of a bored noble. She smirked as they were pushed in front of her, a measly audience of followers with swords at their backs. "It took us a while ta get you." She continued and gestured to one of her men, who promptly left the room. Her captives posed her no threat, and she knew it. "Harder than I thought for just a runt."
"I'm sorry." Logan cut in, glancing at a fuming Katie and then back at an amused Lucy,"What exactly do you want with her?"
Once of the men returned with a small box, which he placed on the ground by the throne. Lucy barely spared him a glance.
"What do you care?" Lucy said to Logan, then looking at Kendall, "I don't have time for either of you-"
She paused, tilting her head to the side, then stood and walked over to Kendall, getting close enough that Logan began to get a little twitchy.
Kendall kept his eyes even with the girl. He knew he needed to keep his cool, his pride in check. He couldn't let anything happen to him because he wouldn't leave Logan and Katie alone here, but Lucy could end him with a flick of her eyes lined with danger and kohl. He had to keep it together, but his pride told him if he was going down, he wasn't going down a wimp.
"Didn't notice the family resemblance at first. Didn't even think to wonder, since I heard ya got captured with the rest of em', but you're her brother right? Kendall..." She smirked, excitement lacing her eyes, "The werewolf."
"Um..." Katie began beside them, "It's complicated."
But Lucy kept her eyes on the boy, still smiling, "Didn't expect you ta be so skinny...fer a werewolf." She paused, tilting her head to the side, "Or so cute."
A loud ahem from Logan caused her and Kendall to look over at the brunette, his face red and anger in his eyes, "Is there a point to all of this?" He said, glaring at the girl.
She walked over to him, "And you must be his lover..." She paused in thought, "I've heard the rumors. What he's done fer you...Larry...?"
"Logan." The boy snarled at her.
Nodding, "Right! Right..." Then she frowned, "Wait. I-I saw you..." Her voice faltered for the first time they had met, "You're a captive...of the Spider queens!"
Immediately she drew out a dagger from her waist, holding it right to Logan's throat, "What are you doing here? Did she send you? A spy!"
Both Kendall and Katie tried to grab Logan but the pirates anticipated their actions and drew them back, allowing their own queen to delivery a sharp blow to Logan's midsection, causing the boy to cry out in pain and topple to the ground.
Katie yelled out, "Wait! You saw him?"
Lucy lunged on top of him, grabbing his hair and pulling his throat back, exposing the white skin. "Why'd she send you? What more she gonna take than our lives?" When she pulled harder Logan yelled, "I don't know!"
"He's alive." Katie whispered, her eyes widening with hope, "There's still a chance."
"Logan!" Kendall cried out, desperately trying to get out of the tight hold he was in. He heard his sister speak, but all he could focus on was his boyfriend being in danger.
"Well...let's deliver a special gram' ta our Queen bout what I think of that!" Lucy yelled, lifting up her dagger over Logan's throat.
"Wait!" Katie screamed, reaching out a hand, "We need him!"
But Lucy ignored her, and began to take a deep breath as she was about to plunge the dagger into the boy.
"No!" Katie yelled, then in pain she said, "We need him to stop the Queen."
Lucy froze, then lifted her dark eyes up at the girl, "Explain. You got ten seconds, then I stain this here floor red."
Real World Verse
Carlos was peeling stray feathers off his jacket when the front door to 2J slowly opened. He stood from the couch, watching as James and Katie entered.
"Finally! Bitters chased me around the hotel three times and I was still here before you guys!" He walked over to the two, then frowned as he watched Katie ignore him to walk into her brothers room.
"Katie?" He asked, but she just kept walking away. Confused, he turned to James who was white faced and shaking a little.
"James?"
The brunette shook his head and walked over to the living room, exhaling loudly as he flopped onto the orange couch. He brought his hands up and rubbed his face.
"Dude." Carlos began, walking over to his friend,"What is it? Is it bad? Do you know what happened to Logan and Kendall?"
"Um..." James began, lowering his hands, "Sort...of?"
"What does that mean?" Carlos sat on the couch next to James, trying to keep his growing fear in check.
"You probably wouldn't believe me if I told you," James reached into his pocket and pulled out his iPhone, "So I'm gonna show you."
Handing the Latino his phone, James was silent while Carlos watched the footage he downloaded from the security cams. He knew exactly what part Carlos was at when the boy jumped up and exclaimed, "No way!"
"Yes way." James said as he stood and grabbed his phone back, "There's no way, no reason for this to be doctored or changed or whatever. I don't-I don't understand or get it." He sighed, "But it happened."
"My dream..." Carlos began but stopped, thinking.
"What dream?" James asked suspiciously.
"Dogs." Carlos said, then jumped when he heard a door slam shut and Katie walked out of her brother's room. Still ignoring the two boys, she walked over to James and Carlos's room, and slammed the door shut there.
"She hasn't spoken since she saw what happened." Explained James. Carlos nodded, not questioning this.
"Okay..." James said, bringing them back to focus, "You said you had a dream about dogs?"
"It's not a big deal." Carlos answered, "When we woke up...you know..." His face suddenly turned beet red.
"In the bathroom." James offered, smiling at Carlos despite the seriousness of the situation.
"Right." Carlos said, clearing his throat, "I had a dream...just about dogs. Just...a lot of them licking my face and playing around." He shrugged, "That's it really."
"It's weirdly coincidental."
"It's weirdly...all sorts of weirdness!" Carlos yelled as he threw himself on the orange couch. "Logan and Kendall are gone. We might have been turned into dogs, and-"
The sound of James and Carlos's bedroom door being thrown open violently caused them to jump once more. Katie stepped out, determination on her face and a small piece of crumbled white paper with writing on it held up in her left hand, "And we need help."

"It's his doppelganger." Katie explained, her grip tight on the man holding her.
"English it." Lucy snarled,
"His other. His same. It's not the boy you saw but it is the same one." She turned to Kendall, "He's the same way."
"Time's wastin' little witch." Lucy said, blood lust evident in her voice.
"I took this Logan and Kendall from another dimension." Katie explained, jerking a shoulder away from the pirates grasp so she could take a step forward. In a rush, knowing she was running out of time, she continued, "I used a spell to bring them here. But Logan's the only way we can find the Spider Queen and defeat her." She shook her head, "He's human. And so is Kendall."
Lucy kept her gaze even on the young girl, and considered her words. After a moment she stood, nodding to the pirate who held Kendall in his grasp.
The blond immediately jerked away and ran over to Logan, helping him stand while keeping an arm around his waist. He shot a glare at Lucy, but she was already talking to her men.
"Coversin' needs to be done."
Katie walked up to Logan, placing a hand on his arm, "Are you alright?"
Nodding, Logan rubbed his throat and pleaded with the girl, "Can you please explain what's going on?"
Katie turned and saw the pirates coming back into the ship, carrying dark wooden chairs and a long oak table. "Yeah. I'll explain everything."
Running a comforting hand through Logan's hair, Kendall asked, "Did she hurt you?"
Shaking his head, Logan turned to Kendall, "No. I-I'm okay." He paused and swallowed hard before he spoke, "I'm so sorry Kendall."
Frowning, the blond asked, "What? What for?"
"You shouldn't be here. You shouldn't be involved in this. It has nothing to do with you-."
But Kendall cut him off, "Knock it off Logan. I wasn't going to leave you-"
"I know..." Logan shook his head, "but-"
Kendall pulled Logan to his chest, running a hand through those dark locks he loved, and pulled Logan's face to his shoulder. "Stop. We'll be fine okay? Don't talk like that."
Logan's hands came up to Kendall's sides and he clutched the fabric in his hands with fear. He was desperately trying to keep it together, but he wasn't sure how much longer he could hold on. Fear was cursing fast through his body, as if breathing in the air brought more horror filled poison to pollute his lungs. It helped that Kendall was there, but it was two sided. While his lover kept him calm, he was also petrified for his safety.
"If you boys are done, we got things needing elaboratin'." Lucy said as she walked over to the table, taking a seat at the head of it. More pirates were coming in, bring food and drink, and the pirate queen waved the others over to her, casual and calm. Like she hadn't about to take Logan's life without a second thought.
The captives all shared a look, then walked over to the table, each taking a seat tentatively.
Lucy leaned back in her chair, placing her boots heavily upon the table. She gave Katie an even eye and said, "Look. I'm going ta tell it straight, then you do similar. If at the end of our conversin' thing's aren't all sorts of shiny...then we'll have a problem. But I want the Spider Queen's head on my mast and you're promising me that, so I'm giving you a pass-like scenario...fer now."
Katie narrowed her eyes at the girl, "Why would you even want to help us? You're on the Spider Queen's side!"
"Not no more we aint." Lucy said, taking a swig from a silver chalice. "Enemy of my enemy and so such." She missed Logan's eye twitch at her horrid use of the English language.
"Why should we believe you?" Logan shot from his spot, still angry from her attack, and her poor verbal skills.
"Reckon you've got nothing else ta go on 'sides my word."
"Which means nothing coming from a rotten pirate." Katie hissed, then flinched when Lucy slammed her cup down and reached for her sword.
"Okay!" Kendall yelled, standing abruptly and holding out his arms to make peace, "Snapping and shooting insults back and forth like this isn't going to help us at all." He looked between Katie and Lucy, "Now you guys know what's going on. And Logan does a bit too. But I'm completely lost. And if there is any chance of us getting back to our home alive, and stopping the Spider Queen, then maybe you better start from the beginning so we have some kind of clue as to what the hell is going on?"
Lucy smirked at Kendall's prowess and Katie just rolled her eyes annoyed.
"Why don't you start ba-er Katie." Kendall began as he sat down. He felt weird calling her his 'baby sister' when he knew she wasn't. Or not entirely. Or...something. This was beginning to make his head hurt.
Sighing, Katie grabbed a bowl of grapes and popped one into her mouth before speaking, "It's a long story, but short and sweet of it is this." Grabbing another grape, she looked down at the red orb in her hands and continued, "About a month ago the moon disappeared. That-that's when everything changed."
"Why would that make a difference?" Logan asked, curious and also remembering how he had noticed there was no moon in the sky earlier.
Lucy answered for the witch, "Moon's our source of power. Where our magic flows from."
"No moon." Katie elaborated, "No magic."
"No defense." Lucy continued, standing to grab some bread. "She came. The Spider Queen. Outta the darkness like a nightmare. Took the moon and the magic with it, though no one's got a hint as ta how or where. Hid it away somewheres too deep and dark ta find." She lifted her eyes, lighted now by the candles flickering on the table. Her dark orbs landed on Kendall, making sure he was paying close attention to their words.
"And she said that anyone who wasn't with her..." Katie began, "Was food for her pets." She frowned, no longer hungry, but still peeled the grape so she could have something in her hands. She didn't want anyone to see them tremble.
"So you joined forces with her." Kendall asked Lucy, who nodded as she nestled back into her seat.
"Had ta. Got my crew ta look after, and the queen was promising magic for our cargo."
"People aren't cargo." Katie shot at Lucy, who just shrugged in reply.
"Them or us. What'd you think rotten pirates like us'ad choose?" Sneering Lucy shot her words at Katie with intent to fight.
"Moving on." Kendall said before the two could go at it again. It surprised him so much to see his young sister being so tough against someone so dangerous. Her actions and strengths made him proud...and sad. He knew for her to be like this she had to have gone through some tough times. And from the sound of their story it seemed like she had been alone through much of it.
As if reading his thoughts, Logan asked, "So what happened to...you know...us?" He was afraid of the answer, especially after the brief respite between Lucy and Katie, but there were still so many unanswered questions.
"That's on you witch." Lucy said, pointing a finger at the girl before popping a piece of bread in her mouth.
Looking up Katie met the two boys eyes from across the table, "It...I..." She faltered, her eyes growing sad with the knowledge that hid inside her.
Knowing that look, Kendall quickly got up and walked around to Kate, plopping down beside her. Logan followed, kneeling on the other side.
"Katie...it's okay." Kendall said, wrapping an arm around the girl.
"I know this is hard. But we have to know what's going on so we can help."
Kendall met Logan's eyes and they both instantly knew, they were going to help...if they could.
"It was awful." Katie whispered, looking at Kendall. "She came for you first. I-I think you know why."
Pressing his lips together Kendall nodded. He remembered enough from Logan's story to know this Jo's and Kendall's history. He wasn't surprised.
"She took you away. Or...the monster she sent. A giant spider creature."Sniffing, she couldn't stop a smirk that suddenly appeared, "I think it was the one I took out in the woods."
"Good for you baby sister." Kendall said, running a hand through her brown hair and smiling with pride.
"It took everyone. The only reason I got away was because of my broom." She shook her head, "I remember hearing them scream. Carlos, James...Mom." She shuddered, then looked at Logan, "I remember hearing you scream when you were separated from Kendall."
Both boys looked at each other, neither wanting to even attempt to imagine what that would be like for them.
"So you flew away. Good on ya'." Lucy began after the younger girl fell silent, "But what I don't understand, is how this is still working." Pulling out Katie's wand, she twirled it around her fingers, "Moon's gone little on'. Spider Queen's s'only one I've seen pulling magic. 'Cept you."
Fidgeting, Katie began, "I'm not-"
"Are so." Lucy cut in, standing up to slam her hands down on the table, "How?"
"Why do you care?" Kendall exclaimed, standing to regard the girl, "You can't do anything with that wand-thingy cause you're a pirate, not a witch!" He paused, exacerbated, "What do pirates even need magic for anyways?"
Lucy regarded the boy for a moment, then her face broke out into a smile, "You really aint from here, are ya?" Instead of waiting for an answer she stood on top of the table and reached up, rapping on the wood. "This here mistress was passed down in my family fer generations. Years upon years this wood's seen all thar is ta see..." She paused and looked at Kendall, "In the sky."
"Sky?"
Smiling, she continued, "I sail clouds, not waves." She jumped off the table and stood up to the tall blond, "And I need magikin' ta do so."
"Why? So you can capture more people? Use them as sacrifices or bounty for the Spider Queen?" Logan exclaimed, standing up as well. He was seriously not liking this girl, and not just because she seemed way, way to interested in Kendall.
"Queen broke her promise." Lucky said, giving Logan a quick glance before turning back to Kendall. "Promised us we'd get our sky back ifin we do her work." She shrugged, "Shouldn't be surprised, but then again...what else could we do?"
"Fight?" Kendall challenged, but Lucy shook her head.
"Fight how? With what gainst' magic?"She walked back to her chair, flopping back down, "Wasn't gonna send my crew into a sure thing death field. With magic gone, 'sbattle was over before a war even begun." She looked back up at Kendall, "Though some says you fought. Hard." Tilting her head to the side, she continued, "Or tha other you...I'm sorta all confused-like on this whole dopple...whatever situation."
"I needed help." Katie admitted, pleading as she looked to Kendall, then Logan. "I had to bring you here."
"But how can we help?" Logan asked, looking at his boyfriends sister, "As it was so," he winced, "delicately put...Kendall and I don't exactly have a bunch of magic hidden up our sleeve."
"You've got magic." Kendall said, turning to Katie, who winced as well and shook her head.
"I only have a limited supply. Mom always kept an enchanted extra amount at home." She reached for the wand now laying on the table. Lucy watched evenly, but didn't stop her. "You know how she is..."
Kendall smiled and nodded, "Yeah."
"When everything happened I had enough to get away. But I had to go back and get the rest." She sighed, "It wasn't easy, but I got it." Looking up at Kendall she continued, "I used some to stay hidden until I needed to go to your dimension. Then some to come back." Now she turned to Logan, "To save you and Kendall."
"How much you got left witch?" Lucy asked, curious.
Katie's eyes didn't leave the dark haired boy, "Only enough for one more spell. Then it's gone. Without the moons power, I can't recharge."
"So, just enough to defeat the witch...right?" Kendall asked, not liking the look of regret on his sisters face.
But she said nothing, watching as the realization blossomed, then quickly faded into sorrow in Logan's eyes.
"It's for me isn't it?" Logan asked quietly, knowing the answer when Katie finally looked away.
Quickly walking over to Logan, Kendall asked, "What do you mean for you?"
Tearing his eyes away, Logan turned to Kendall and said, "I understand now."
"What?" Kendall grabbed Logan's shoulders, fear growing in his stomach, "What do you understand?"
"The nightmares. The cold that won't go away." Logan said, his voice lowering to a whisper, "It's him. I'm...connected." Looking up, he turned to Katie, "Aren't I? That's why you said you need me. It's to find the other Logan." He swallowed, "The Logan who's with the witch."
"What?" Kendall interjected, "That doesn't make any sense. I'm not feeling any different-"
But Katie cut him off, "No. But Logan's been here before. His soul is tied to this world because of his other half...and because he died here." She shrugged helplessly, "It's the best I can understand it. I could only figure out so much without maxing out my magic supply."
Silence fell heavy in the room, Kendall staring at Logan, not sure what to say. Eventually it was broken up by Lucy, who said, "Y'all are more interesting than a sword fight between a parrot and a monkey."
"So...what now?" Logan asked, turning to Katie and ignoring Lucy's words.
She stood, taking her wand, "I have to finish the connection. Establish a stronger bond between you and the other Logan. That's how we can follow the trail..his trail. " She bit her lip, "The won't be easy. Or painless. Once the connection is fully established you'll feel everything he's feeling. Good...and bad."
"No." Kendall said, walking in front of Logan, "This can't happen. There has to be another way."
"If it works I say go fer it." Lucy said from her chair.
"What?" Kendall shot at her.
Smiling, Lucy answered, "Cause once I send you all on your merry-like way...I'm coming with." She stood and brandished her sword, "If tha journey's end lies with a dead witch and her blood coating someone's sword all pretty...then I aim ta be the one holding it." She walked over to Katie, "'sides, I can tell pretty easy enough that none of y'all aren't meant for huntin'. Got city scent all over you like a garment. Wouldn't last an hour out thar.."
"Well it doesn't matter." Kendall shot at her, then turned to Katie, "I wont let Logan get hurt."
"Kendall-" Katie began, but Logan cut her off by placing a hand on Kendall's arm.
"Ken." He said, and turned the taller man around. Kendall's eyes were wide, and he reached forward to grasp onto Logan's arms. "I-I can't-" He began, but his words faltered as he tried to translate what he wanted to say through the pain in his eyes.
"Can you guys give us a minute?" Logan asked, not even looking at the girls.
Lucy sighed and said, "Fine." Turning to the young witch, she asked, "How you fare with ax's and ankles?"
"I'm always up for a new hobby." Katie replied as they left.
Alone, Kendall brought his hands up to up Logan's face, "Baby. Please-"
"You know I have to do this-"
"You don't have to do anything." Kendall pleaded, "I...I can't protect you here Logan." He drew the boy in close, wrapping his arms around him tight before continuing, "I can't even stop a couple of pirates from kidnapping us. How am I going to stop some evil queen demon or giant monsters or anything else here from hurting you?"
Logan rested his head in the crook of Kendall's neck, breathing in his scent, "You cant."
Kendall tensed, "Not helping."
Pulling back gently, Logan responded, "It's not supposed to help. They play by different rules here to a game we barely even understand. I didn't come out of here alive last time Kendall." He could feel Kendall's hands grip his back even tighter, "But that doesn't mean that it'll happen again."
"Logan-" Kendall began, but his lover cut him off.
"The only way to get out of this, to get back home, is to follow this through. There's not enough magic until we get it back from Jo." He paused, "Don't think I'm not worried for you too. That I'm not scared something will happen to you as well."
Sighing, Kendall reached up a hand and ran it through Logan's hair. Always soft, and comforting. "We'll just have to watch each others backs then. Okay?"
Nodding, Logan answered, "Agreed."
"We'll get through this baby." Kendall said, and Logan nodded, accepting the kiss that Kendall was now leaning down to give.
They stayed like that for a few moments, reveling in something that was finally familiar and comforting...but it didn't last long. They soon had to part, and go back to the situation they were trapped in.
"I love you." Kendall whispered, pulling Logan close to his chest. "I'm not going to loose you."
"Love you to." Logan whispered back, wrapping his arms tight around Kendall's waist. He wished he could offer his lover more comfort but he knew too well how dangerous things were here. He wouldn't lie or pretend. He knew better now. Kendall would see right through him, and it wouldn't help their situation. They just had to trust each other and do their best to get through this...alive.

"What is this place?" James asked, looking up at the old building. The exterior windows were blackened with bars in front of them, and the entrance way was a large black door.
The building itself was nestled between two larger buildings. One was a large, dilapidated looking apartment with loud music echoing out of one of the broken windows. And the other a questionable looking Chinese restaurant with neon Chinese characters highlighting their meals.
"Are you sure you've got the right place?" Carlos asked beside Katie, looking around nervously.
She nodded, determination in her eyes. Without hesitating, she walked up to the door and knocked three times. Stepping back, she waited a moment until a slot in the door opened, revealing a pair of dark eyes looking at them.
"What?" The voice asked, sounding female and aggravated at their appearance.
Taking in a deep breath, Katie replied, "We're here to see...Madam Zinibar."
I hope you enjoyed this chapter! More to come!
