I ran and ran. One foot swiftly in front of the other, I descended down the hill and ran to school. The text haunted me. Who would target the school shack at midday? A threat, an attack- what the hell happened there? Truly, this is some kind of threat by some punk-assed group who is just a little short of crazy. I wondered what Buccha would do to anyone who would do this.
I reached the foot of the hill and crossed the street. I sped down the alleyways looking for shortcuts I vaguely remembered taking with Emily when we were running late. I saw one and quickly shifted direction to pass the stinking path. When I got out of the shortcut, I was happily greeted by a green pedestrian light turning red.
"Why now?" I frustratingly monologue to the traffic as I also took in deep breaths. The school is just two exasperating blocks away.
I waited and waited until a certain girl got my attention. She walked from my left and passed my back to stop at the road to my right. She looks so weird. She looked just about thirteen or fourteen. She was dressed in a kimono halfway to the knees with snowflaked patterns. She covered her legs with knee-length socks. Strange, did this girl got lost from a cosplay convention? Since she had her back to me, I could only see her long jet black hair that ended just above her waist. She framed looked familiar but I couldn't place a finger in it. I took my trip of ogling further downwards until I gasped at her footwear. And yet again, I was faced with some kind weird kid with crazy high tech trecks; but this time, she has the heeled preference with a small with tension wheel mounted at their bases. The architecture of the design was exquisite. Sharp details laced with silver streaming mounts gave it a liquidating yet sharp look. The thing that puzzled me was the winged-like contraptions stringing out of the heels. They looked like fans, ventilators, or something. Weird.
I took a mental picture of the trecks when suddenly I remembered my current agenda. I glanced back to the street to see the sign turn green. I praised God for the luck. Before I dashing down the street, I took a quick glance at the girl who was facing the street I'm about to cross.
"It's about to be get pretty cold around here." She said with a creepy grin plastered to her face. Her grey-blue eyes didn't give anything away. She wasn't glaring me or anything but those words literally run cold shivers down my spine.
I run down the street questioning divine providence of my tough luck on weird girls on high- end trecks.
I rejoiced when I reached the street of the school. Luckily, my track skills came in handy this time. As I reached the gates of the school, I paused to take in deep breaths and readjust my bag. I was baffled to see the clockworks open in the light of day. The one who did this knows what he's doing.
Regaining composure, I went in the building and dashed up the stairs. On the fourth floor, I went in the secret passage to the shack behind the janitor's closet. Other than going up the clockworks, this comes in handy for those of us who're non-riders.
I climbed the narrows steps. I trembled with strange ferocity as the aura of the atmosphere dampens with humidity. I studied my palms that were holding on to the metal rails- even in the heat of this summer day, the metal seemed off its temperature. It was cold to the touch as if it was winter outside. I feel goosebumps run down the length of my arm. I shivered and held my bag as reached the top of the stairs. As I reached to turn the knob, my fingers numbed to the sensation I felt. It had been frozen shut. I braced myself to turn the damn thing, yet it did not budge. So, I lifted my right leg and kicked the goddamn thing.
Ice
It was first thing that greeted me. With its luminescence, it sparkled like prism emitting rays to rainbows all over the place. It was on everything. It was on the couch we brought in just two weeks ago. It was on the walls. It plastered the ceiling like they were unintended chandeliers. They were even in my very first toolbox. The sight of which made my blood boil to supernova. Hopefully, it'll be enough to melt the ice in the place but the ice was so thick that even Onigiri was sitting on a solid slab across me- looking very angry that the scowl on his face made me think of the time I first tasted a lemon. And I say, it wasn't the best experience in my childhood.
I took a deep breath and walked to Onigiri. I took a plastic bag from somewhere and placed it to the slab before right beside Onigiri.
"What happened?" I asked.
"I was sleeping on the couch while suddenly the hatch opened. Then, a weird kid appeared and did this." He replied sourly.
"A kid?"
"A girl to be exact. She was wearing something of kimono or something. It all happened so fast." He rubbed his temples in frustration.
Was he talking about the creepy girl I just saw? "Really? Do you know who she is?"
"Do I look like I know?" He sassed.
"Okay, geez. I'll talk to Kururu and the Doctor Minami about this."
"Why go that far?" He looked at me clearly alarmed.
"If I'm right, that may be same girl the saw on my way here and her trecks puzzles me."
"Really? Are you hurt?" He asked.
I gave him an if-I-was-would-I-be-here look. He got what I meant and timidly gave out a stupid smile before sulking back into deep thought.
I looked at the room again. This was clearly a threat. If it really were then what did it mean? And then, it hit me.
"Where is Agito?" I almost half- shouted.
"Huh? I'm the only one here." He was confused himself.
"What?!" I exasperated. I stood up and walked to the door. "He should be here by now. I told him to go ahead of me."
"You were together?" Was that the only thing he pick- upped?
I growled at the thought of that stupid boy. He should have been here by now. Trecks are always faster than feet. Where would he be? Did he have problems with his trecks? Did he get into an accident? Does he even know the meaning of urgent? The frustration is double- killing me.
"What happened here?" Kazu shouted in a nervous tone. From the looks of it, he just arrived via clockwork hatch.
I looked at him to give the answer but Onigiri beat me to it. They ran through an identical conversation I had with Onigiri earlier. I got fed up with this idle mumbling and preceded to turning the knob once again.
Kazu looked at me to ask. "Where are you going?"
"To find Agito." I answered impatiently.
"How are you gonna do that exactly?" He raised one of his brows to me as if he was challenging me or sort.
I took my phone and quickly opened an app. "Luckily, his trecks have GPS."
I inhaled a deeply as if I were under water for too long. I opened my eyes to see the lazy afternoon sky above me. The glaze burned my eyeballs so I shut them instantly.
"Argh! My head hurts." I exclaimed.
Right then, I found myself buttflat on the ground. I looked around to see I was on top of a wide building two blocks away from school. If I remembered correctly, I am currently on top of a wide rental arcade. As I lost myself in confusion, a sudden wave of nausea caved in just leveled my upper body.
"What in hell happened?" I asked the nothingness. I massaged my temples hoping for something to stop my gut from coming apart.
I crunched hard to remember something- something that would keep me from becoming crazy. I took in a deep breath again and this time my stupid brain started functioning once more.
Green eyes. Sea green eyes were the image the sparked a series of memories.
I stood up to dust of the dirt from my clothes. Judging from the sore butt I have, I was lying there for quite a while.
"I see you're awake now." A crazy girl appeared from behind the water tank and walked to me until she was at least five meters from me. She was wearing this very short kimono. It would be very sexy if she wasn't thirteen-looking. She was eating a popsicle. What the hell is wrong with girls these days?
"Who are you?" I asked in irritation.
She laughed as if I gave her the funniest joke in the world. "That would be answered later but first-"
She leaped back and destroyed the water tanks; thus, blasting water everywhere. I managed to save my hide from soaking but the water practically created a vast pool of water and an annoying fountain. What a waste..
She landed a few meters in front of me smiling like the bitch that she makes herself to be. The water tank behind her was still spraying a thick mist all around that I could feel the humidity dampening.
A surface of ice quickly appeared between her shoes. I stood there like an idiot watching as her steps froze the water underneath her. I was startled but was smart enough to jump back three feet to land on a dry patch to evade the creeping ice.
"What hell is happening?!"I shouted in my thoughts. I was mad. Mad for the fact that my head was painstakingly heavy. Also, I'm mad that this bitch caught me at a bad day.
"Let's play a game." Then she smirked. Before I know it, she kicked the air to produce icicles that could be mistaken as kitchen knives. I easily countered with a fang of my own. The ice shattered to a millions as if they were planning to make summer snow.
I leaned to do a back roll to evade an icicle. Unluckily, it grazed my cheek a little on my frail attempt.
I fell back a little to assist my bleeding cheek. Thank God it wasn't deep but it still worries me.
"FUCK!" What a freaking bother.
She giggled AGAIN and a clicked sudden came from her trecks. I looked down and bit my lip as I found them tranformed to some ice skates. Ice skates?
She lunged back to me as she glided on the ice. I was shocked by the series of weird circumstances that I've found myself in that I was almost oblivious to the crazy girl charging at me.
I leapt to evade a direct punch at the gut. She smirked and bent her upper body down to catch momentum. Before I knew it, her leg spun to me in such a sheer speed.
Mid- air, I was caught in a tight spot. I realized that she not only did a skillful technique in that spin, I was also faced with a sharp blade charging at me. As a reflex, I placed an arm over my face and braced myself.
The blade cut through my jacket all the way through my arm. I cursed as the it stung. My body dropped and I managed to awkwardly land on my two feet.
"Bitch!" I yelled to popsicle girl.
She laughed cynically and skidded back to the misty fountain. "Tsk. tsk" She chanted as she waved a finger. "That's just mean, onii-chan." She licked her popsicle again.
"How is she still eating that freaking popsicle?" I ratted inwardly.
"Don't play with me, kid. What are you trying to prove?" Frustrated as I was, my bleeding arm is cut way too deep right now.
She threw away the stick. "Nothing. I just wanna play." Her smile made my stomach sick.
The sound of heavy chains dropped in a distant. Suddenly, the rooftop door busted. The girl turned to face the door, and so did I.
Boom
Boom
Boom. It shook.
Until it finally burst in to smithereens.
The cloud dust settled revealing two familiar and very pissed- off faces. Onigiri? YAYOI?!
I mentally panicked when I saw her face. I didn't give a fuck about the smelly pig. I was too furious about Yayoi to even give a full- damn about everything.
The girl turned to them with an awful grin up on her face. Yayoi's attention was elsewhere. Her eyes looked nervous and furious as they landed on each and every one of my bleeding wounds.
From the distance, I knew she gave out a scowl to me and proceed to the girl.
"Who are you?" I heard her shout to the girl.
Yukata girl gave a weird pose and giddied as she placed her hair to one side.
"The name is Ao." So, the bitch has a name. And here I thought, I was gonna get out a book just because I was running out of name to call the damn mutt.
I grunted yet skid myself to close my distance between Yayoi and the girl. All the way, I applied the much needed pressure unto my arm. Blood is gasping through my fingers but I did not care. I am more concerned of protecting Yayoi from her stupidity.
With my back to her, I asked. "How in the fuck did you get here?"
I heard her step forward but was silenced. I guess Onigiri stopped her. "I should be asking you the same thing." Her angry voice was laced with a tiny bit of what I hope was concern.
I grind my teeth. "Well, let's just say this wasn't what I planned either." I eyed at Ao, hoping she would get the I'm-gonna-kill-you look in them. " And, how did you find me so quickly?" I added.
She took her moment then sighed. "GSP" My eyes widen.
"WHAT!?" I turned my head to her. "Woman, how many things did you place in these damn things?" I lifted my foot in emphasis.
"That doesn't matter right now." She countered right away.
"Fuck." I exclaimed.
"BLAH. Blah Blah." Ao interrupted. "Are you done talking?" She mocked a little by pretending to be yawning at us. I sneered to her.
At my back, I faintly hear Yayoi tensed a little bit. "The wounds?" She asked.
I was smart enough to get the reference and answered. "Blades underneath her trecks." It was a bruise on my ego that this little girl got to me. I was the Fang King for God's sake. How did this pathetic wench got to me in the first place?
"I see." Yayoi's voice shivered.
In my back, I hear her footsteps and the sound to chains run heavy.
"Onigiri, can you help me?" She asked in a heavy voice.
Heavy steps belonging to Onigiri shuffled movements on my back. Remind me to thank the pig before busting his balls for getting Yayoi here.
I was busy eyeing Ao right now. She looked bored as she became more interested in her nails than us.
"Thud." A heavy amount of chains landed just behind my feet. I looked at them bewildered.
"Just to level the playing field." Yayoi said. The smug look on her face tells me that she may not have approved of this but she wanted this thing done. I thank her for that, my friends, is the space that I actually really needed.
I smiled maniacally. "Thanks, woman."
I got the chains and wrap them around my arms. God, they feel familiar. I didn't expect to miss the symbols of my slavery to my brother, um, I mean father. I feel the surge to power run through my veins. My smile grew.
I faced Ao once again with an evil grin. "Done with the chit- chat?"
"This time, you are really getting into my nerves." I growl with raw irritation.
I did a quick pull on the chains to tighten them around my arms. I'll be needing a lot of medical treatment for my arm later on.
I found solid ground and immediately burst to her. She duck down and skid a turn over the ice while slowing lifting her leg up until it reached her nape.
I grinded my teeth and quickly released a fifty- percent powered fang. The sliced air whistled as the fang soared.
Ao, still doing her turns, released her leg and propelled it down and about while the mist crystallized with terrifying speed.
As fang and ice collided, I shifted my moves my movements again and lower my body nearer to ground to balance my weight on the ice. I circled again and released two my consecutive fangs.
They, later, hit the never-ending icewall. The girl had some sweet defensive moves. I analyzed and realized she was visually making an ice concave with icicle spikes.
I went closer but the icicles would just shoot out from the surface unto me.
I grip the chains and took a deep breath. My feet rounded about in furious speed. When I gained momentum, I quickly attacked the thing with my fangs. Icicles also came flying towards me but with a little swing from the chains, they just dropped down in pieces.
I really like how this is going right now. Not only have I gained some defensive advantage, she was also stuck in the middle of her defense. I smirked. Offense is the best defense, you say.
I searched around to find some concrete and quickly jumped up as high as I could. When I reached good amount of height, I swung my trecks as hard as I can. I fang cried before hitting the thick walls.
As I landed, I evilly smirked when I saw that Ao's shoulder pads tore a little. Hey, with that, I could say that I'm not a totally wimp.
"Boohoo, you jerk! You tore up me sleeve!" She stomped hard to the ice that it dug through it.
"Fuck you, bitch! You tore up my arm." I shouted.
I cut this little convo and quickly turn while lifting my leg to the air. It was this new move I begun to practice during the time that Yayoi have my trecks. If you're asking me how in the whole I did that. Simple. Dr. Minami's simulator. Ohh, technology and its quirks.
I curled my toes signaling the pressure pads to increase the output. I mentally counted to eighty percent on this one. I grind my teeth as the weight of the chain balanced my stance. I drove my leg down with such painful force.
"Shark Bite!" I yelled. There is something stupid to yelling out the name of a trick.
She danced a little with her ice skating crap and magically froze the thick mist of water to a ball of spiky ice.
As my bite hit the ball, I caught glimpse of the bitch smirking like the fourth of July through the ice.
The impact rang deep and shattered the ice. But, we have ourselves a problem.
The icicles burst all over the place and hitting everything blindly.
"Fuck." I rushed to Yayoi, who crouching down with Onigiri. In a heartbeat, I felt like time slowed a little as I flung my chains to protect them from the various spikes that were coming at them.
I growled at how stupid I was for underestimating her. This cunt was not only strong, she was also smart, which is more annoying by the way.
After the thing settled, I whipped myself a load of fangs and hit the ball with almost everything I got. I wasn't only afraid of what she is doing in there. I was more afraid of what she's thinking. Note. Psychopaths only go defensive when they are thinking of something. And one to another, we usually don't like thinking.
As everything settled, the ice cleared revealing Ao with an awful haircut and a bloody cheek. Really? Just the cheek?
She wiped her cheek and touched her halfed pigtail. I could see that she was, now, really mad. The kind of mad that only shows through your eyes.
Suddenly, a girl with a orange jumpsuit flashed around the background and appeared beside Ao. She placed a hand to Ao's shoulder and whispered something. Ao's eyes begun to widen. I could hear her curse from where I was.
From a little distance, I also caught Yayoi's sharp inhale as the jumpsuit girl appeared.
"Lumen, not right now!" Ao shouted to the girl.
The girl was more of a silent type since she just shook her head.
Behind me, I heard trecks landing to the roof.
"What the fuck is going on here?" The stupid crow's voice was what I heard. My luck.
I turned to see that he was together with Kazu. They both assumed their offensive positions.
I turned again to face the freaks.
That was when my eyes were pierced with nothing but steely green. This was it! This was the reason why I got here. Fuck! Now, it's doing it again.
The world crapped out into dozens of colors. The familiar sensations numbed my body and I suddenly did not feel my legs. My knees bent and my eyelids closed. Before I knew it, my cheek fell to the dirt.. again.
Here's a treat since it has been half a year since my last upload.
