Death, Alphas and Dating

Later on during the day

Erica rubbed her tear filled eyes. She had been excused from school mid-day for a family emergency. No one would tell her what was wrong until she got home.

"Your cousin Denita Parker is dead honey."

Her mother's words washed over her. Denita was one of her dearest friends. They were like sisters and she was so happy when her cousin moved closer two months ago after not seeing her for five years. Erica could depend on Denita not to make fun of her epilepsy or question the bombshell transformation. Her happiness was all her buxom cousin cared about. Now she was dead. Worse the police were saying it was some kind of attack.

"But who would want to hurt her?" Erica questioned, after going over several lame theories she groaned in frustration.

She decided to check her messages. The minute she found several message that said Stiles was dating Adrian, she jumped to her feet. When did this happen? Was it even true? All attempts to call Stiles sent her straight to voicemail. In a fury she flung her phone on the floor. It took her several minutes to put it back together and get it working.

"Let me try Scott."

"Hello this Mr. Argent," a voice responded.

"Oh crap, I mean I was trying to get Scott," Erica said not even trying to guess how she got into direct contact with a hunter.

"This is Scott's phone," Mr. Argent said, "I asked him to lend it to me for a few hours," he revealed.

"What? Why?" Erica asked confused.

"Because I wanted to see who would call," Mr. Argent said honestly, "and I was hoping it might be you," he added.

"Me?" Erica asked.

"I want to talk to you about your new friend Adrian."

Erica paled. "What do you want with him?"

"Nothing, I'm more concerned about his pack leader."

"Z? Did he do something wrong?" Erica feared.

"Not yet," Mr. Argent said, "but there have been some incidents recently and now there's also multiple murders."

"Where did that happen?"

"At Daybreak Cafe, the police are being tight lipped but a source sent me some information," Mr. Argent said, "I'm sorry Erica but there are signs that it was a werewolf attack," he revealed.

Erica whimpered. "My cousin worked there."

"What? Erica I'm so sorry..."

"My mother told me she was killed," Erica cut him off, "are you sure Adrian...did this?"

"How many wolf packs are here with strange leaders who have had one of their own infiltrate your group?" Mr. Argent countered.

Erica sighed. She didn't want to believe Adrian would do such a thing but Z was powerful. According to what Adrian told her maybe he didn't have a choice.

"Derek would never do something like this," Erica said despite still suspecting him in Stiles being raped, "and Adrian defends Z and seems pretty loyal," she continued, "honestly Mr. Argent i think Z might be even more powerful than we know and if he really wanted Adrian to do something...he might not be powerful enough to disobey his alpha."

Mr. Argent groaned. "Just great."

"Is Scott with you?"

"No."

"I have to tell you something," Erica's voice shook, "something no adult knows."

"Whatever it is I promise not to tell another soul."

"Derek raped Stiles!" Erica told him, "I know this Z guy is suspicious but there is actual evidence supporting Derek's involvement and he refuses to tell us where he was that night."

"What?" Mr. Argent whispered.

"It's why Stiles was missing and the way he has been behaving lately," Erica said bursting into tears, "but that's not the worst of it. The sicko raped Stiles in his wolf form!"

Mr. Argent was silent for a while. "Are you sure that it was Derek?"

"Who can be sure anymore," Erica sniffled, "if it's not Derek then the perpetrator is in the wind."

"Tell me everything that you know right now Erica," Mr. Argent said firmly, "i bet my daughter knows and I need to be able to protect her if she's involved."

"What about Stiles?" Erica demanded, "he's the victim."

"I know Erica but I'm neither his friend nor father," Mr. Argent pointed out, "all i have to go on is what you are willing to tell me," he said.

"Fine," Erica said feeling drained and told him everything.

Adrian walked out of school on cloud nine. He had a date and his day was shining bright. His smile fell when he saw Z leaning against a wall. The alpha rarely showed himself in the daytime much less in public. He fell in step with his leader and they walked until they entered a local park.

"We had some fun yesterday," Z said.

"What kind of fun?" Adrian asked warily.

Z grinned causing Adrian to go silent. They continued walking until Z stopped and sat on a bench. A hesitant Adrian took a while to sit next to him.

"You seem...unhappy," Z chose his words.

"I'm fine."

Z turned on him. "Tell me, now."

"I have a date," Z blurted out feeling the full weight of Z's alpha order, "wait...no..."

"What?"

"It's none of your business!" Adrian exploded causing Z to lose his hold.

Z looked at Adrian in open surprise. Never before had the other been able to resist like this. In the past he was the most susceptible.

"A date? Is this about me not calling you for our last meeting," Z questioned.

"What meeting?" Adrian was caught off guard.

It was Z's turn to back track. "Nothing."

"Right," Adrian said his voice holding venom.

"Something has you on edge," Z said, "just tell me."

Adrian sighed. He knew he had to say something before Z used his alpha status again.

"I saw Mr. Argent today and he was with Scott."

Z sat up straight. "What did he want?"

"Claimed he was dropping Scott off and wanted to also go talk to coach," Adrian told him.

"So you two talked?" Z's voice took on a sharp edge.

"I was roped into a conversation with Scott," Adrian said, "I couldn't lose it with Mr. Argent being there," he added.

Z stomped his foot and cursed. "Does he suspect?"

"I'm not sure," Adrian admitted, "but I don't buy that he came all that way just to drop off Scott and chat with coach."

"Shit," Z muttered and stormed off leaving Adrian alone on the bench.

Of all days! If Z finds out I tried to cover things up he's going to kill me!

Stiles sat in silence as his father circled him. It was like being a prized dog at a bad kennel show.

"So you're bi and have a date...with a guy?" Sheriff Stilinski asked.

"Yes dad," Stiles responded, "and you please stop acting like i stole the Queen of England's diamonds."

Mr. Stilinski sighed and sat down. "When did this happen? How? You love Lydia."

"I'm bi dad not gay," Stiles explained, "I like girls mostly but...there's the occasional guy," he admitted.

"Occasional!"

"Dad! Chill!" Stiles shouted, "I guess I have a much higher ratio of females I like than guys okay."

Mr. Stilinski was left feeling even more confused. He buried his head in his hands. He was struggling not to look unsupportive of his son's sexuality while trying also to figure out what the hell was going on.

"Dad I'm still me. Everything is the same," Stiles gently patted his knee.

"No, it's not," Mr. Stilinski rose to his feet, "I don't feel like I know you anymore Stiles!"

"What?" Stiles asked clearly hurt.

"I mean...please help me understand son?"

"I'm bisexual, sorry if I didn't give you the advance memo," Stiles spat sarcasm.

"Now you listen here," Mr. Stilinski said sternly, "I'm not taking anymore attitude from you. I don't know what happened but you have changed. It's like my son is...gone."

Stiles was dumbfounded. He knew he had changed but now his father felt he'd disappeared. Clearly he had been going in the wrong direction somehow. He had to make it right. This was his father.

"I'm sorry; I haven't been very fair to you."

Mr. Stilinski stared into his son's remorseful face. "No I'm sorry. You didn't need to hear that."

Stiles grabbed his father's hand, "No I did. Don't ever think I don't want you around."

Mr. Stilinski laughed. His son was giving him support. Usually it was the other way around. The parent was supposed to be the one who the child leaned on. So much had changed but some thing still stayed the same. Most important his son still cared about him. Knowing that made him feel ready to face anything the world could throw at him. "So where is this date?"

"Oh, uh...we...uh...we're going..." Stiles stuttered, "we haven't actually picked a place," he admitted awkwardly.

"Sounds like the perfect night out," his father said.

Stiles buried his face. "With everything going on it just slipped our minds I guess. I'll call him and we can pick a place and time you'll approve of."

"I want to meet him before you guys go out," Mr. Stilinski added.

"Aw dad..."

"No whining, I would ask to meet anyone you're about to date," his father countered.

"Fine but please don't go crazy interrogator on him," Stiles begged, "it's not like we're going to buckle down and have a date at my house."

The second the words came out Stiles wanted to take them back. His father was already on edge he didn't need any encouragement.

"That's actually not a bad idea," his father smiled, "it's a date, tonight," he added and walked away.

"Dad, no, oh come on!" Stiles begged.

All in vain.
