You all have such beautiful souls. I love you.

Welcome to the end.
Twenty Years Later…
One morning he was sitting in his office when the Vice President of the company, no other than Ms. Mercedes Jones, walked into his office. She sat down in the chair in front of his desk and stared down at her hands, neatly folded in her lap. Blaine knew why she was here. He felt the date on his calendar glaring into him. Blaine just stood and walked over, kneeling beside his friend and wrapping his arms around her. Mercedes didn't cry. They just sat in silence and held each other. For on this day, twenty five years ago, Kurt had taken his life. This day had always been like a constant reminder to Blaine for why he started the organization.
"We're in this for that very reason Mercy. So that one day, no one will ever have to go through this pain. This pain of loss." She nodded and looked up at Blaine.
"He would have loved you so much. He would be so proud of the person that you are today Blaine. I know that sometimes you hate on yourself, and feel guilty, even though Kurt doesn't want you to, but your past… Blaine that only goes to show that redemption is here, and it's real. You did bad things yes, but look at all the good you're doing." Mercedes pointed at the clock, showing the number of calls fielded and the number of lives saved to date.
"It's for Kurt. Every part of it. You know, my memories are still pretty faded of our time spent together, but the impact he had on my life will never fade away."
Years continued to pass. Blaine and Mercedes stayed close, and Blaine was the best man at her wedding when Sam finally asked her to marry him. And in the front row beside Blaine, there was a picture frame, holding her best friend inside. Since then Mercedes had had a beautiful baby twins, both boys, to which she named Blaine and Kurt.
Blaine never married, but he did date a few times. No one could ever understand why he wouldn't marry. Only Mercedes knew it was because of Kurt. None of the guys he dated understood about his commitment to the mission, and why he was so passionate. Most didn't make it to the second date. But maybe that was a good thing. Everyone could see that one hundred percent of Blaine's heart was devoted to TKHP.
But among all the famous people he was able to meet, his favorites were the kids. They had people drop by the office all the time just to say thank you. Blaine loved getting to meet the kids and see in person what he was doing. Every time the number went up, Blaine could feel Kurt's smile.

It had been a bad day. Something had caused the phone lines to go out so the service was unavailable for six hours. Blaine had overheard a phone call from one of the receivers telling the kid to just give it up and let go because there was no way it would get any better. It made Blaine so angry that even in his well interviewed staff there were people who didn't believe the mission. He had shut himself in his office, locking the door, just praying for the day to end when he heard a knock.
"I'm not taking guests right now, but leave your name and number and I'll get back to you." He muttered. The knock came again.
"Blaine? Baby open up. It's just me." Blaine heard Mercedes' voice come from behind the door. He sighed and stood to unlock the door. She came in and quietly shut the door behind her. Blaine sat back in his chair behind his desk and put his head in his hands. Mercedes just came and laid a hand on his back.
"Blaine? Just go. I can hold down the fort here for today. Get out of here." She pulled him up and kissed his cheek. "I love you. Everything will work out." Blaine nodded and pulled out his jacket and his car keys and hugged Mercedes.
"Thanks Mercy."
Blaine didn't know where he was going. He just got in his car and drove. It reminded him of the night when he was trying to piece everything together. Except for he didn't feel lost anymore. Then he knew where he needed to be. Blaine did a quick U-turn and headed towards Lima. He ended up on the Hummel's front porch. Well, it was just Burt now. Liz had died three years ago from another bout of cancer. But she hadn't given up without a fight. Blaine was there the whole time, even relocating his work from Lima for the month or two before she passed, just to be with them. Any doctor's appointments that Burt couldn't make it to, he felt better about missing because he knew that Blaine would be there. It was a mother's day that it happened. But Burt and Blaine both had trouble staying sad. Because now, Liz was reunited with Kurt. And that was the best mother's day present anyone could have given her.
Blaine used his key and let himself into the house. He found Burt on the couch watching a game. Plopping down beside him, it made Blaine chuckle that Burt didn't even seem surprised that he was here.
"What's up bud? How's the office?" Blaine sighed and Burt muted the TV. "That bad huh? Tell your old man." This just made Blaine smile. Every time Burt called himself Blaine's father, Blaine smiled. In every way that a father should be, Burt was to Blaine.
"Everything's falling apart Dad. The phone lines are down, I'm finding out that not all of my workers are committed. And I haven't spoken to my parents in years."
"You miss them." Burt stated simply.
"I didn't think I would. But I just feel like some sort of amends should be made. I mean, sometimes I'm still so angry at them for what they did to all of us. But, they're still the people who raised me. Burt what should I do?"
"I really think that it's up to you Blaine. How much do you value the relationship?" Blaine didn't have an answer for that. He just sat in silence. Burt didn't press for an answer. Blaine glanced up at the clock and saw how late it had gotten.
"Burt I've gotta get going." They stood and Burt walked him to the door.
"Blaine, son, you know you're welcome here any time you like. Things are kind of quiet here without Liz, and I always enjoy some company." Burt laughed, big and hearty. "I hope you figure things out bud." Blaine hugged Burt tightly, then left.
On his way out of town, Blaine made a rush decision and turned right down the dirt road. He drove with caution, as the sun was beginning to set. But when he arrived, Blaine knew this was exactly what he needed to do.
He parked and took the few steps out to the grave. He sat on the ground and stared at the tombstone. He read the word that had inspired him all those years ago.
Courage
Blaine sighed and began.
"Kurt, it's been a while since I've been out here, but I really don't know what to do, and Mercedes always said what a good listener you were, so I figured I'll take advantage of that for a few minutes. Kurt, I feel so lost. I thought I knew what I felt years ago. I thought I had decided it at the banquet, but I guess I'm still stuck. They ruined everything that could have been between us Kurt. Friendship, maybe even more. I don't know." Blaine stopped for a second and shook his head.
"I just wish you could give me an answer. I don't know what to do." Suddenly, Blaine felt his phone vibrate twice. Two new messages. The first was from his mom.
From: Mother
Hi, Blaine. I know it's been a while, but I would like to see you. I'll be waiting at your office tonight. If you don't come, I guess I understand, but I would like to talk to you.
And the second was from Mercedes.
From: Mercedes
Courage Blaine.
Blaine shook his head. Mercedes always knew what he needed. Then he stared at the tombstone.
"Thank you Kurt. For everything. For never giving up on me. For inspiring me. For daring me to move. You made me the person I am today." And Blaine stood, brushing off his pants and walking away towards his car. Looking up, he saw the sunlight streaming through the clouds and he just knew that it was going to be alright.

Blaine pulled into the parking lot of his office and saw his mother's car a few spaces down. He took his time making his way through the lobby and up the elevator. Stepping into the large room, he saw the night shift workers taking over. He loved shift change. It was one of his favorite times of the day. He just loved the thought that they had so many willing people that they had to create three shifts worth of them. Stepping towards his office he took a few deep breaths. This would be the first time he had seen his mother in almost six years. Blaine gathered all the courage within him and opened the door. He saw her slowly turn. He saw the now very present grey strands in her hair, the wrinkles and lines on her face. He saw the tears in her eyes.
"Blaine?" She covered her mouth and shook her head. "I didn't think you were going to come." Blaine nodded. "You're so handsome. Your Vice President, Mercedes, she showed me around some. This is a wonderful thing you're doing here." Blaine stared at her. Who was this woman? His mother had never been approving of what he was doing. That was one of the many reasons they hadn't spoken. "Blaine?" He realized she had been speaking to him this whole time.
"Yes Mother?" Even he was able to detect the nervous edge in his voice.
"Blaine, I left your father." Given the suspense, this was still not what Blaine was expecting to hear from her.
"You what?"
"I left him. Around the time Liz died. I was so angry with him because he didn't want me to go to the funeral. So I packed my things in the middle of the night and went anyways. Haven't been back since. I saw you there you know. I saw you and Burt. I'm glad that he's had you."
"I think it's opposite. I think I'm lucky that I had him. That's where I was earlier. I like to visit him every once in a while. Him, and Kurt. Think about what could have been, you know?"
Blaine saw his mother start to cry. "Oh Blaine. Honey I'm so sorry that I never said anything to you about it. I never wanted to leave. Liz was my best friend. I had always imagined you and Kurt growing up and getting married. But when your father began to run for office, he told me that if I didn't leave he would cut me off. No money, no home… Blaine I didn't even graduate high school. I didn't know how to get a job or pay bills by myself. So I kept quiet. You have no idea how much I wish I would have just tried. Just tried to fight him about it. I'm so sorry." Blaine was stunned. It was just way too much to try to take in at once. So he just sat down on his desk, watching his mother cry.
It was then that he thought about Kurt. Even though Blaine had done Kurt wrong so many times, he still forgave him. Forgiveness is right where you fell. Blaine sighed and stood, walking over to his mother and hugged her. She seemed stunned at first, then he felt her hug him back.
"I forgive you Mom. I forgive you."

Blaine grew old in the business. He never rebuilt his relationship with his father, but he had his mother back, and that was all that mattered. After their talk in the office, she had told him everything and anything he wanted to know about growing up with Kurt. She showed him all the pictures they had hidden, and Blaine framed a few more to keep in his office. When he grew to the age of retirement, he passed the torch to Mercedes' twins, Kurt and Blaine, and together they became co-presidents of the company. Mercedes and Blaine retired together, and made a point to have lunch every Thursday, in honor of Kurt. Because there comes a point when you realize that life is too short to miss out on those opportunities.
Blaine visited Kurt's grave all the time, and when Burt died at a ripe age of 95, it was only one more reason to visit. Blaine went out and would sit on the bench now that his knees were too weak to kneel on the ground. He thought of all those years ago when he was just a confused boy trying to figure out his purpose in the world. He would think about the essay for school that he had written that had been the beginning of it all. But most of all he just talked to Kurt. Mercedes had been right; Kurt was a great listener.
Blaine lived to be 92 years old. The night he was to die was a Thursday, ironically and appropriately an anniversary of the day Blaine's idea turned into a reality and the project was founded. He was lying in bed that night, simply thinking of TKHP, and how it had morphed into such a huge safe haven for boys and girls to turn when it had started out as simply a memorial Facebook page. As Blaine drifted to sleep for the last time, he overheard the news coverage on TV talking about the project. He heard them list the number of calls intercepted, then the number of lives saved. Blaine felt his breath escape him, and it was as if he felt Kurt's arms around him. As if he heard his voice in his ear telling him he had lived a full and successful life. The last words Blaine heard were from a clip taken of his own speech so many years ago at the banquet…
"Do you ever have a feeling that something's just not right? Do something. I dare you. I dare every single one of you to make a move. Change a live, change the world. Life is a journey. Not so much to a destination, but a transformation. So who's with me? Who out there wants to make a difference? I dare you to move."
Well, there it is. I know that I killed Blaine off in the end, but at least he's with Kurt again. The impact of one life, guys it's incredible. So there you have it. I'm not going to bore you with goodbyes, but I'm passing on the dare to you.
Go out there and make a change.
I dare you.
Love, Olivia
