The post on Monday morning brought something unexpected for Hermione. She had been awaiting the first delivery of her new Daily Prophet subscription when she was greeted instead with hate mail.

"OH! How ridiculous! People will believe anything that woman writes, won't they?" she said, handing Evie the letter she'd just opened.

Instead of a handwritten letter, someone had cut and pasted letters from the Daily Prophet. There were several more, each one more hateful than last.

"Hermione, you might want to be careful, that one looks a bit puffy…" warned Fred. But it was too late, she opened the letter and out gushed a fair amount of yellow-green liquid.

"Undiluted bubotuber pus!" said Ron.

"Mione, you'd better get to the hospital wing." Said George.

"We'll tell Professor Sprout where you've gone." Evie reassured her.

Fred cleared away the rest of the letters after Hermione left with a flick of his wand, just to be safe. "Hermione should stop opening her mail for awhile…" he said.

"Why?"

"This one's threatened to send a curse." He told her, waving a letter around.

The rest of the week brought more and more hate mail, which Hermione ignored. Howlers went off every morning, Evie could tell it was starting to get to her and suggested some quality time with Viktor.

"He isn't talking to me." She said coolly during Defense Against the Dark Arts class.

"Why not?" asked Evie.

"He says he's hurt and confused by the accusations. I told him there was nothing going on between Harry and I, but he still won't talk to me!"

"What if he talked to Harry?" Evie suggested. "Maybe he'd accept it from him?"

"Why would Harry be any different from me?" she scoffed.

"Because to him, if you are playing with him, you'd say anything to get him back, but Harry would want you for himself, so if Harry tells him it's all a lie, then it must be true." Said Evie.

"I never thought about it that way…"

"Now, if we could just figure out how she's hearing all of this!" sighed Evie as she deflected another curse sent her way.

"I should ask Moody if she's been wearing an invisibility cloak!" said Hermione before she was hit by a curse. "Oh, it's useless trying to do anything with these hands!"

"The swelling is almost all gone, and all the sores have gone!" Evie encouraged.

"I suppose, but I still can't handle my wand right!"

Evie, Harry and Ron waited outside class for Hermione and knew it was bad news when she came out with a look of disdain on her face.

"Well, she's not using an invisibility cloak, Moody hasn't seen her anywhere, not in the castle or on the grounds!"

"Maybe she bugged you?" suggested Harry.

"What good would bugs do?" asked Ron.

"Muggles have these tiny microphones and equipment that can record what they pick up. They put them in other people's homes to spy on them." Explained Harry.

"Hermione, before you waste your breath, no, they will most likely never read Hogwarts: A History"

"Why should we? When you two know it off by heart?" asked Ron.

"Muggle electronics don't work here, there is too much magic in the air. However she's doing it, she's using magic."

The Saturday post brought Percy's response to the letter Fred and Ron sent to him.

"Well he's being a right foul git!" said Ron after reading his brother's snippy reply.

"Well, I didn't hold out much hope for anything more than this," said Fred. "But at least we know how the Department is functioning without its Head."

"We should send this to Sirius." Said Harry

As spring blossomed on the grounds at Hogwarts, Fred planned a picnic that he hoped would get Evie to tell him what she was hiding. It was a perfectly clear day in April, not a cloud in sight, so he decided this was the day. He had everything set up before going to get her from the common room, she was sitting with Erin and Ginny.

"Ron's just oblivious, and now that he knows how you feel, he's going to pretend he doesn't know." He heard Evie say.

"Erin, my brother is a stupid git most of the time, just give him time…"

"Ginny, I'm proud of the language, just don't let Mum hear you talk like that. She'll have George and I's hides for it. As for my little brother, he likes you. He is just too scared to admit it."

"Really?" asked Erin.

"Yes. He's a bit emotionally stunted."

"That happens when you're tortured by your older brothers." Said Ginny.

"I was just as tortured as Ron, and I'm not stunted in any way, am I Evie?" he asked with a wink.

"Fred!" all three girls said at once.

"Evie, I need to show you something." He said, bending down to pick her up.

"That was highly inappropriate!" she scolded him as he carried her out of the common room.

"Yeah, but when have I ever been appropriate?" he asked.

"Fred! They are probably thinking we are off having sex somewhere!"

"Well, shows what they know. It is a nice day out and I want to have a picnic with my gorgeous girlfriend. Though, I must add, if you'd prefer the sex, that can be arranged." He said, waggling his eyebrows.

"Take me to the picnic, Romeo." She said.

"Who's Romeo?" he asked

Evie laughed hysterically before responding, "You don't know who Romeo and Juliet are?"

"Should I?" he asked, highly confused.

"I suppose not… Shakespeare was probably a Muggle."

"I should have taken Muggle Studies more seriously…" he sighed.

He carried her all the way to the lake, and set her down on the blanket he'd set out. Evie was always amazed at the strength he had in his arms, he was always carrying her everywhere and it never seemed to faze him.

"So, tell me about Romeo and Juliet." He said as he pulled out the food the house-elves had packed.

"It's just this play that Muggles love. It's about two teenagers who meet at this party, and fall in love. But then they find out they come from two families who have been feuding for centuries. They decided they don't care and get married secretly. After the wedding, Romeo kills Juliet's cousin in a duel to avenge the murder of his best friend, and is exiled. A broken hearted Juliet plans to leave to be with Romeo by faking her death. But while she's pretending to be dead, Romeo sneaks back to the city, finds her dead and kills himself. When Juliet wakes up and finds him dead at her side she kills herself as well."

"That's rubbish. Why do they like it so much?"

"Some think it's romantic."

"Don't ever pretend to be dead without telling me first." He said, handing her a plate filled with a chicken breast, bread, some sort of sauce and an éclair.

"This is your idea of picnic food?" she laughed.

"No, I let the house-elves pack the basket." He said. "So, if this play ends with them dead, why'd you call me Romeo?"

"Well, Romeo was supposed to be about 16 and Juliet was about 14." She said quickly, facing the lake and the ship moored there.

"Like us." He said, never taking his eyes off her.

"Yeah." She sighed.

They ate for awhile in silence, Evie felt stupid for calling him Romeo and then telling him that Romeo and Juliet killed themselves. She didn't really eat, she just picked at her food, trying to make it look as though she'd eaten quite a bit.

"I'm not really hungry anymore, are you?" she asked.

"Not really, let's go back inside." He said, cleaning up the picnic.

Fred pulled her close as they walked back up to the castle, kissing her forehead softly before he spoke.

"I'm not going anywhere, I won't kill your rotten cousin, and I'm going to die a happy old man with you by my side." He said, a hint of finality in his voice.

"But we're on the brink of a war, Fred. I can feel it."

"And we'll make it through together, I promise."

Once they were in the castle he led her to the disused bathroom that doubled as their store front. He made sure to lock the door behind them. He'd filled the room with unpoppable bubbles and soft blankets.

"And to be perfectly clear, I'm not expecting anything, despite my earlier comment. I just wanted to have a romantic day with you."

Evie's heart swelled when he said he wasn't expecting anything, she knew she wasn't ready yet, but she was ready for a bit more than they'd done previously. She pressed her lips to his as he guided their bodies down onto the pile of blankets. Their lips moved together in their familiar rhythm until Fred sucked her top lip into his mouth and nipped at it playfully. He rolled them over so that he was on top and broke the kiss.

"You tell me when to stop, okay?"

She nodded her assent as he removed her shirt. He kissed her briefly before trailing kissed down her jaw to her ear, pulling her earlobe into his mouth, sucking gently. Then he kissed down her neck to her shoulders, licking the juncture there on each side. He slipped his fingers under the straps of her bra and slid them down her shoulders; Evie arched her back to allow him to remove the offending garment. She lay beneath him half naked, and it dawned on her that she never felt more loved that when he was touching her.

Fred looked down at her for any sign that she felt uncomfortable, but she just smiled up at him, trust in her eyes. He continued to explore every inch of her skin with his mouth as if it were the first and last time he'd ever do so. He nipped and sucked at her collar bone, kissed down her chest, taking each nipple briefly into his mouth before continuing down. Every flick of his tongue or nip of teeth across her stomach resulted in a mix of moans and soft cries. He traced her belly button with his tongue before looking up at her for approval to remove the rest of her clothes.

Evie nodded again and lifted her hips to aid him, soon she was completely naked in front of him, and the look in his eyes caused fresh warmth to pool between her legs. Fred continued to kiss, lick and bite his way down her body. First down one leg, then up the other, his mouth coming to hover above her entrance. As a means to give permission Evie spread her legs, opening herself up to him.

"You sure?" he asked.

"Yes." she whispered.

Fred lowered his mouth to her, gently tasting her with his tongue, licking from her entrance to her clit and back again. He felt her buck her hips slightly and brought his hands up to hold her in place. He entered her with his tongue, drinking her in, he felt every cry, every movement she made in response to his ministrations. He moved higher, sucking her clit into his mouth. He slid two fingers into her, alternating between fast and slow pumps.

Evie had never felt anything like this before, the feel of his mouth on her was intoxicating. She felt the familiar feeling start in her abdomen, it spread down to her toes and up to her head before exploding and sending her over the edge. She cried out his name and pulled him closer to her center as she rode the waves of pleasure back down to solid ground.

Fred crawled up to lay next to Evie and pulled her into his arms. She laid her head on his chest and tried to even out her breathing. In that moment she knew she couldn't lie to him anymore and decided that now was as good a time as any to tell him about Dumbledore's plan.

"Fred?" she said.

"Yeah?" he said, looking into her eyes.

"I have to tell you something." she said, sitting up and pulling her knees to her chest.

Fred sat up and said, "Okay."

"Dumbledore came to talk to me about the dreams I've been having on Boxing Day. The dreams are my memory of the night Voldemort killed my parents. He did say something to me that night…" she looked down at her feet and took a deep breath before continuing. "After he killed my Mum, he looked at me and said, 'You'll be my Dark Princess, my Dear' then he tried to kill Harry. Dumbledore told me that Voldemort did want me alive, and wanted Harry dead."

Both were silent for a long time, Evie was waiting for that much to sink in before telling him about her lessons with Snape and Dubledore's plan.

"You-Know-Who wanted you? Why?"

"Dumbledore didn't say, but I know that he knows why but doesn't think I'm ready to know yet. But there is more…" she said, not taking her eyes off his.

"More?"

"Yes. I've been taking Occlumency lessons from Snape since I talked with Dumbledore."

"Why? Is it to keep the dreams out? Is You- Know-Who sending them?"

"Not exactly… it is to keep Voldemort out, but he's not sending the dreams. Dumbledore has a plan if He ever comes back to power. At the end of the war Snape turned spy for us in His ranks… And Dumbledore wants me to help Snape this time around. Snape would be there to protect me if something goes wrong." she told him.

Once she'd told him everything she felt as if a weight had been lifted off of her. But Fred felt as though the weight had been put onto him instead.

"Dumbledore wants you to do what?" he nearly shouted.

"I'm really good at Occlumency, Fred! Almost better than Snape, and he successfully fooled Voldemort! If I do this, it could mean the difference between victory and defeat! Snape will be there to protect me the whole time!

"Since when do you trust Snape with your life!?"

"There are things you don't know! If you love me you must trust me, yeah? I'm asking you to trust me, please!"

"Evie, this is a lot to trust in! When you were in the lake and I KNEW you wouldn't actually be hurt, I felt like I was dying every second you didn't come up. I don't know how I'd handle you being in real danger! I couldn't take it if something happened to you!"

"I know, I can't imagine a world without you in it, without us together! But do you really think we'd be together if He wins? And what about Hermione, what about Harry? If I can make a difference I'm going to do this!"

"I want to talk to Dumbledore. The more I know about this plan and the ways to keep you safe, the better I'll feel about all this."

Evie nodded, "Can we eat dinner first?" she asked as her stomach growled.

"Ha ha, yeah. But first…" he said before laying her back down and kissing her fiercely. "Don't keep me in the dark again?"

"I won't. Now what did you do with my panties?"

"You mean these?" he asked, pulling them out of his pocket.

Evie laughed as he proceeded to dress her and tickle her at the same time. Once he had her fully dressed they headed down to the Great Hall for dinner. They sat down with Ron, Hermione, Harry, George and Angelina, and Erin. When Hermione and Erin saw Evie Hermione rushed off to get Jane and Erin grabbed Evie's arm.

"'S'cuse us, Fred! We need to talk to Evie!" said Erin as she dragged her away.

"I guess I'll bring her some food up to the tower…" he said taking a seat. "Do you all know what that was about?"

"They're going to talk about you, mate." said Angelina.

When Fred gave her a confused look she laughed and put down her fork.

"Hermione was looking for Evie earlier and one of the places she looked was Moaning Myrtles bathroom. She heard her crying louder than normal and she was starting to flood it. So Hermione asked her what was wrong. Myrtle said that she'd never kissed a boy and now she had to leave the pipes because she could hear someone having sex in the disused bathroom on the 6th floor."

Both Harry and Fred spit their Pumpkin Juice out onto the table. No one went to that bathroom for anything except to buy something from Fred and George.

"What were you doing with my sister?!" exploded Harry.

"Harry, calm down. We weren't having sex. Not really..." Fred said, standing up, his hands in the air in a defensive position.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Harry shouted.

"It means I'm not pushing her to do anything she doesn't want to do! Can we please talk about this somewhere more private?" he asked, backing towards the door to the entrance hall.

"Sure." He huffed and stormed out of the Great Hall.

"Good luck, mate." Laughed George.

Fred followed after Harry, wand firmly in hand, he was determined not to hurt Harry, but he wasn't getting hexed either. Harry led him to an empty classroom on the second floor.

"Fred Weasley, what were you doing with my sister?" he asked.

"Not sure you really want to know the specifics, mate."

"Tell me!"

"Harry! Evie and I didn't have sex!"

"Then why does everyone think you did?" he shouted, pointing his wand at Fred.

"Because they listened to Moaning Myrtle!"

"So what were you doing?"

"Not my place to tell you that, Harry."

Harry lost patience and sent a jinx at Fred, who used a shield charm to block it. Harry just kept shooting hexes and jinxes at Fred until the classroom door opened. Snape walked in and surveyed the room, a few chairs had been knocked over by the rebounded hexes, and Harry still had his wand pointed at Fred.

"What are you two doing?"

"Harry and I are practicing shield charms. Moody is teaching both our years about them right now so we thought we would get some extra practice in before next class." said Fred quickly.

"Ten points from Gryffindor for this mess. Now go to your common room." he said.

Harry was the first out of the door, so Fred took the opportunity to talk to Snape alone.

"Uh… Professor?"

"What is it, Mr. Weasley?"

"Evie and I need to speak with you and Professor Dumbledore, sir."

"The Headmaster is busy, Mr. Weasley, he has no time for a chat." sneered Snape before turning to walk away.

"It's about Evie's Occlumency lessons" said Fred, stopping Snape in his tracks.

"Be outside the Headmaster's office at eight o'clock tonight." and then he was gone.

Evie allowed herself to be dragged off by her three best friends to Moaning Myrtle's bathroom.

"Dish!" cried Erin.

"What?" asked Evie.

"Moaning Myrtle heard you two in the bathroom upstairs!" giggled Erin.

Evie froze, what did Myrtle hear? If Myrtle heard what she told Fred, would her friends be this excited? Probably not, but that means she heard them…. Oh god!

"Evie, you really are shouldn't be doing that at school, let alone at our age!" chided Hermione.

"What are you talking about?" asked Evie, trying to play dumb.

"You and Fred had sex!" the three said in unison.

"No we didn't! Not really!" she said.

"Then what did Moaning Myrtle hear?"

"I…. well… we…"

"…had sex!" finished Erin.

"I'm not ready for that!" said Evie. "We just… fool around a bit!"

"So what did you do exactly?" asked Jane.

"I don't want to know that!" said Hermione. "And neither should you!"

But Jane and Erin were listening intently to Evie as she relayed the details of her activities with Fred. Try as she might, Hermione found herself listening just as intently within seconds.

"Wow." said Hermione.

"I bet Ron wouldn't do anything like that…" said Erin.

That sent the girls into a fit of laughter that had Myrtle shrieking at them to leave within minutes. The four girls left the bathroom and headed for the Grand staircase that would lead them to their respective houses. They split ways on the fifth floor, Jane heading to the Ravenclaw tower, and the three Gryffindor's heading to the seventh floor, when the reached the portrait of the Fat Lady, Fred was waiting.

"I've just come from a duel with your brother." He said, wrapping his arms around her waist.

"You did? Why? What happened?" she said, looking him over for any signs of hexes and jinxes.

"He was defending your honor." He laughed. "I only used a shield charm so no one got hurt. He's a little upset about our… activities, but I think he'll get over it."

"I swear, one of these days you two are going to kill each other!"

"I don't know, I think I'd be the clear winner." He laughed.

"Always so cocky." remarked Evie. "I'll talk to him."

"Don't bother. This is something he needs to accept on his own, also he's gone off to the Quidditch pitch to find out about the third task."

Hermione and Erin left them in the front of the portrait and joined Ron by the fire in the common room.

"I'm glad I don't have a brother who attacked every guy interested in me." said Erin, taking a seat next to Ron on the couch.

"He means well, you know. I think they are too young to be doing anything like that." said Hermione.

"You mean you and Viktor haven't?" asked Erin.

"Wha- Viktor is very respectful!" Hermione started, but was cut off by Erin and Ron's laughter.

The three friends were having so much fun together; none of them noticed Fred and Evie never came into the common room.

"I talked to Snape and we get to talk to both of them tonight." said Fred. "We need to get going, actually."

Evie was nervous about going to Dumbledore's office; she'd only ever been there when something was wrong. When they got there Snape was waiting and he opened it before they were close enough to hear the password.

"After you." He sneered, earning him a look of anger and disappointment from Evie.

She made her way up the staircase to the doors to the Headmaster's office, the brass knocker hung smartly from the oak doors as Fred reached out to use it. The knocker made a sharp sound against the wood and seconds later they were greeted by Dumbledore's smiling face.

"Come in, Ms. Potter, Mr. Weasley." He said opening the door wider for them. "Severus."

Evie would never get used to the Headmaster's office. It was beautiful; the circular walls lined with the portraits of previous Headmaster's and Mistresses, Fawkes on his magnificent golden perch, the sorting hat, the sword of Gryffindor and books everywhere. It was what an office should be.

"Hello, Fawkes." She said before taking a seat in front of Dumbledore's desk.

Fred took the seat next to her and grabbed her hand, Snape stood ominously behind them as Dumbledore politely sat behind his desk.

"I see you disregarded my request to tell no one." He chuckled, his eyes gleaming down happily at them.

"How can she be trusted if she can't keep this a secret Headmaster?" asked Snape.

"Severus, it is obvious why we can, and why she told Mr. Weasley." He said looking at the two young redheads again before looking pointedly up at Snape. "Love."

"Yes, but Headmaster-"

"Severus, let us hear what they have to say." He held up a hand to silence the Potions Master's complaints.

"Professor, what exactly are you asking my girlfriend to do?" asked Fred.

"What I ask is not without great personal risk to Evie, but with two spies in the Dark Lord's ranks we stand a better chance of defeating him. Professor Snape has been teaching her Occlumency, and from what he has told me, she is particularly gifted. This will allow her to project false memories and feelings, fooling the Dark Lord into believing her. Things will get harder for both of you from now on. For I must ask you both not to speak of this to anyone. Harry can not know, there will come a time when he will need to know, but that time is far off yet."

"Professor, what if Voldemort doesn't believe her? If Professor Snape helps her you lose both spies. And how can Harry not know? He'll have to know by the time she joins the Dark Lord's ranks."

"If it comes to it, we will have to do without spies. As for Mr. Potter, when it is time for him to know, he will know. But it is important he not know until the proper time. Now, do you trust Professor Snape to keep Evangeline safe?" said Dumbledore.

"Evie does, and I trust her." He said.

"Good, good. Now, Mr. Weasley, it has come to my attention that you have invented a means of conversing with Ms. Potter during class." He smiled. "You are not in trouble. I do, however, wish to commission twenty more."

"Wicked!" said Fred. "I'll get them done right away! Do you want them in pairs or all interconnected?"

"Interconnected, if you don't mind. Now, Severus, if you could go make sure no one is in the corridor."

The meeting was over, and Fred felt little better about what was being asked of his girlfriend, but knew that he would get nothing else from the Headmaster. They had reached the steps leading to the corridor when they heard a familiar voice shout, "MOVE! C'mon!" Snape hurried down and out into the corridor. "Potter!"

Evie and Fred listened as Snape questioned Harry, though Harry, out of breath, made little sense. Snape tried to dissuade Harry from seeing Dumbledore, but to no avail.

"Professor, maybe you?" suggested Evie.

Dumbledore was in the corridor at once, steering Harry towards the Grand staircase and away from the office, Fred and Evie waited for Snape to come back before heading back to the common room.

"Did Harry say something about Crouch being in the forest?" asked Evie once they were both in the common room.

"I thought so, but what is he doing here?"

"I don't know… but I'm waiting to find out." She said taking a seat on the love seat, Fred joining her.
