Weasley's Wizard Wheezes
"We need to come up with a plan." Roxanne said. She stood on a ladder and was stocking shelves in the shop.
"I know," Tatiana muttered. "I'm so fed up right now…"
"Hand me that case of Demon Box, would you?"
Tatiana got onto her toes and stretched her arm as far as she could to reach Roxy. She was able to see the look on her best friend's face. Roxanne was furious, and she was stuffing the boxes in a very harsh and angry manner.
"Is that the last one?" Roxy asked, unable to look down for herself.
"Yea," Tatiana replied, "It is."
"Thank Merlin," she sighed, stepping down slowly from the ladder. When she got to the last step, she got off with a little jump.
"So what are we going to do?" Roxy asked. "You should sleep over by the way."
Tatiana smiled, "I would love to. I just need to ask…C'mon."
She dragged Roxy up the stairs. As they passed the main floor, Roxy spotted George at the register.
"We're leaving Dad!" she yelled. "Be back soon!"
George actually didn't hear a word she said, but he assumed they were leaving since they ran up to the next floor.
In the attic, there was a small fireplace with floo powder.
"Where are we going?" Roxy asked, gripping a handful for herself.
"Ministry," Tatiana replied. "No one's home right now."
Roxanne nodded and stepped in. "British Ministry of Magic!" she exclaimed, and the fire turned green with her disappearance. Tatiana did the same shortly afterward.
For some strange reason, they landed in fireplaces right next to each other. Tatiana smiled at Roxy and led the way. They first headed towards the center where they stepped into one of the lifts.
"Top floor," Tatiana told the man.
There was no one in the lift but them, so they continued to discuss a potential plan.
"We need to use one of the latest items from your Dad," Tatiana stated. "One that hasn't been in stock yet…just in case she's seen it…"
"Doubt she's seen it," Roxy smirked. "Higgs has the sense of humour of a spider."
"Top floor," the lift's recording announced. It was extremely quick. "Head Offices."
Upon getting off the lift, and headed down the narrow hallway. About halfway down, there were guards, but they knew Tatiana rather well, so they didn't say a word. At the end of the hallway, was a set of double doors.
Tatiana knocked on one of the doors, and waited. There was no response, so she opened them herself.
The office was massive. It had a grand fireplace, a sitting area, and large wooden desk.
"So now what?" Roxy asked.
"Snacks," Tatiana answered, drawing her attention to the coffee table. A plate of fresh Pumpkin Pasties were on a platter.
"Fine with me," her friend answered. Plopping herself onto the couch, Roxy took one. Her eyes lit up at the incredible taste.
As girls sat and enjoyed their pasties, Tatiana suggested an idea.
"Let's make a list of everything we hate about Darci…"
"Well," Roxy replied. "She's a bitch, for one thing…always has her nose scrunched up…doesn't bathe often enough…doesn't—"
Percy walked in at that moment. He was rather surprised to see Tatiana and Roxy.
"Hi Uncle Percy!" Roxy chirped. "Tatiana wants to know if she can sleep over!"
"Well," Percy replied, walking over to where the girls were sitting. "I suppose she could." He sat down on the couch next to Tatiana. She hugged him tightly and grinned.
"How's work?" she asked. "Dad said you were staying until ten."
"I am," he replied. "The Persian Minister of Magic is coming in to discuss the recent malfunctions in Magic Carpets."
Tatiana nodded, moderately interested.
"You need to run home and get your things." Although he had just sat down, Percy quickly stood up and stretched.
"I will," Tatiana replied, standing up also. "We'll go there now, actually…. we have a lot planned."
"Of course you do," Percy chuckled, hugging Tatiana and kissing her on the forehead. He then hugged Roxy.
Upon letting go of Roxanne, Percy gave her an inquisitive look. "Nothing dangerous, I hope?"
"Erm…not exactly," Roxy replied. "We're just plotting revenge."
Percy frowned. "Against…whom may I ask?"
"Darci Higgs," Tatiana stated. "She likes to make fun of us."
"She—" Roxy began. "She likes to make fun of me especially…kind of because of my parents…"
Percy was silent for a moment, processing what Roxanne was insinuating. Upon his realization, he spoke.
"Roxy," he asked. "Can I speak with Tatiana for a minute?"
"Yea sure," she answered. "I'll meet you outside, Tatiana."
Percy watched Roxanne leave and waited for her to close the door.
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" He asked his daughter, as soon as the door shut. "You are thinking this through, aren't you?"
Tatiana sighed, her large hazel eyes downcast at her shoes. "It's difficult to explain…just a small prank."
"We'll talk more about this later…since Roxy's waiting." Percy hugged her once more and gripped her hands upon letting go.
"What?" she asked.
"So she makes fun of you as well?" Percy muttered. "Because of…"
"Same thing," Tatiana answered quickly. "Just different circumstances…but don't worry," she added. "I've gotten used to it."
With that she let go of his hand.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Papa."
Percy gave her a half smile and nodded, and he watched her exit the office. He stood still for a moment once she left, allowing her words to run through his mind. She had gotten used to it. It hurt him…it really did. She had probably been through more than Roxanne. He wondered if George knew what was happening…probably not, but perhaps he should tell him.
