Oliver sat on the rooftop floor, overlooking Star City over a low wired fence. It looked peaceful enough, but where was his protégé?

He heard a rustle behind him and jumped to his fighting stance, bow ready and arrow already drawn back. He squinted in the dark behind his domino mask. He put down his bow, spotting a familiar head of hair and shades of green, and raised an eyebrow.

Artemis was coming up behind the rooftop junk looking quite queasy and- wait was she limping?

Ollie immediately rushed over to her side, and with anxiety evidently in his voice asked, "Are you okay? Did someone attack you on the way here? Who was it? Where does it hurt? Did he get away? Did you kick his bu-"

"Ollie!" the younger archer snapped at him, glaring through pained eyes. Artemis gave a guttural groan and slumped to the dirty floor, eyes shut tight, and an arm pressing on her lower torso. Ollie panicked and began taking out his phone, when Artemis jerked his arm down and the phone dropped to the grimy floor.

"Stop that," she blurted at him, "I'm not dying. I'm just having menstrual cramps!"

Ollie stopped, surprised and unsure on how to handle the piece of news. No wonder the girl was being so snarky.

"Ugh I thought I could still do some rounds tonight," Artemis mumbled. She looked back up at her mentor, who was still dumbfounded and confused on what to do, and continued, "Could you possibly, for the love of God, get me some pills for this? I don't think I can walk any further than this."

Ollie shook himself out of his stupor and sighed. It's not like he hadn't dealt with these situations before, and with an even more temperamental woman. He sighed and ruffled his almost-daughter's hair.

He smiled, almost mockingly, "I'm on it, kid. And next time? Promise me you'll call before-hand. I can always ask Red Arrow to give me a hand."

Artemis scoffed lightly, "I can still go, I just need-" and another whimpering groan was heard. Ollie rolled his eyes and smirked at her.

"Right. Sure you can. I'll be back with your painkillers and Roy. You can go home when I'm back."
