This is just a little something that came to mind while I was watching Tangled... Enjoy!

Familiar Words

"This is it! This is a very big day, Pascal! I'm finally gonna do it! I'm gonna ask her!"

Pascal smiled at the sound of those words. They were the exact same words he'd heard Rapunzel say slightly over a year ago. Only this time, the words weren't coming from Rapunzel...

Eugene was sitting on his bed, and smiled at the reptile sitting on his left leg.

"I'm happy for you, you know!" Pascal replied. In the time he and Eugene had known each other, Eugene had learnt to understand both chameleon and horse, and the two along with Maximus had become pretty good friends.

Eugene pulled the ring box out of his pocket and opened it. As he gazed at the silver band with its glistening amethyst, his smile faded and he sighed.

Pascal frowned, "You okay?"

Eugene turned to Pascal and said, "I'm terrified."

Pascal had a hard time holding back a smile as he remembered Rapunzel saying those exact same words to Eugene exactly one year ago, "Why?"

"Rapunzel's the love of my life, my universe, my dream... my everything," Eugene replied. "Pascal, what am I supposed to do if she says 'no'?"

Pascal shook his head "Eugene, Rapunzel thinks the world of you! I can't think of one, single reason why she'd say 'no'!"

Eugene chuckled, "Still..."

"Listen Eugene, like I said before, you mean the world to Rapunzel! When you take her out to see the lanterns for her birthday and when you do propose, don't think about what would happen if she says 'no'. Think about how wonderful it will be if she says 'yes'!"

Eugene smiled at the chameleon, "When did you get so smart in this area?"

Pascal shrugged, and couldn't help but smile, "I don't know, just seems like common sense to me."

The two chuckled and looked out the window to see the sun starting to set.

Pascal crawled up to Eugene's hand and closed the ring box with his front paws, "Go on. You and Rapunzel go have a good time."

Eugene put the ring box back in his pocket, gently placed Pascal on his bed and stood up, "Thanks, little buddy. For everything."

"You're welcome, Eugene. Now, go!" Pascal smiled, pointing towards the door.

Eugene laughed, "Wish me luck, buddy!"

Pascal watched as he closed the door, and listened as the sound of Eugene's footsteps grew quieter, "Good luck."

Well, it was pretty short, but I like it. Please review, and tell me what you think!
