"Dear Alfred:

Today I found an old picture of us, do you remember? The one Matthew took of us at the park three years ago. Your smile was as bright as ever.

It always seems like you can brighten up a whole universe just by yourself, as long as you smile. It always picks me up when I'm down. You always pick me up when I'm down, with that smile of yours. You smile and look at me with shining blue eyes, saying that everything will be alright, and it was. For me, at least, as long as you were here, smiling, it would. Life smiles when you smile, Alfred. You made me see what life was really about, you made me believe in heroes... You made my life worth living, no. You made me live my life.

You always tell me that I should smile often, that I look better when I do, and then I scowl at you. I wonder what you think of that. I wonder what you think of me now. I wonder, too, if I will be able to smile now. What do you think, Alfred?

There is actually a point to this letter, and that is to tell you, not how much I miss you, but how much I love you. It's easier to write it than to say it, but either way I cannot be sure that you receive this. If you do, wait for me, Alfred, because I will most certainly go where you are right now, and I will find you, so we can finally have our 'happily ever after'.

I love you, and I forever will, no matter what.

-Arthur."

The tear-stained letter was neatly folded and placed within the bouquet of freshly-cut flowers as the blond man laid them down carefully. His eyes start watering again as he read the epitaph on the grave in front of him:

Alfred Franklin Jones

1987 - 2012

"They say bad stuff happens to good people,

Our young Hero Alfred is proof of that."

The man dries his face with a handkerchief as he reaches down to touch the grave, as one might caress a loved one's face, and whispers softly, as if the one he wanted to be heard by was standing beside him.

"You were always my hero."

A cool breeze hits his cheek quietly, like a chaste kiss before a goodbye.

'And you were always mine.'
