Notes: This is from Toki's prompt: "obake yashiki (haunted house)".
Authenticity and perfection is something he's always strived for, from the overall presentation to the smallest details. Even if he isn't on the student council or as the class representative (though he can't imagine not being in a position of power), Kaname can be relied upon to do things right.
He sighs to himself, hidden behind a particularly ugly tombstone, waiting for the next unsuspecting victim to pass by. He considers this haunted house a failure because it's not achieving its purpose—people are supposed to be scared, dammit, not laughing and huddling together. He can almost see hearts floating from the way girls cling to the boys' arms, and he can't help but gag. The noise seems to have an effect, and much to Kaname's chagrin, it's the opposite of what he wishes (no, he's not bitter, he just wants this to be perfect in every way).
A breeze passes behind him, and he brushes it off as ventilation. Several seconds later, it happens again, again, and again, and Kaname can't help but think it suspicious now. He turns around slowly; seeing nothing, he refocuses on the next pair—augh, another lovey-dovey couple.
"Kaname..."
Goosebumps prickle his skin, from his shoulders down to his arms, his hands suddenly clammy. There's supposedly nothing behind him. He clutches the white sheet he's using as his robe, soothing out his nerves. When the coast is clear, he ventures another look—
And let out the most embarrassingly girlish scream ever, setting off a chain reaction somewhere down the hall.
"What's the matter with you," the head asks.
The rest of the younger Asaba twin's body is invisible against the pitch black background, and it's floating at an impossible place, given his height. Kaname recollects his wits—it's only Yuuki in costume, that's all, nothing more dangerous than the everyday-Yuuki—and immediately falls back into his role as manager. "Why aren't you manning your post?!"
"I grew bored."
"If only your head is really detached, I would kick it so far you wouldn't be able to get it back. Bored my ass, go back until your shift's over!"
"Geez, you're going to get matching white hair if you worry so much at your age."
"If you'd stop giving me trouble, that wouldn't happen."
"Chizuru's got it covered," Yuuki said lazily. "But you aren't doing such a good job."
"S-shut up, I can handle this just fine!"
"Yeah right, who do you think you're kidding?"
Kaname reddens. He hates it when Yuuki – out of everyone, Yuuki – acts all self-assuming and points out his weaknesses like nobody else's business, and he hates it even more when he's right. What a jerk.
"This is why I didn't want to play ghost," he muttered.
"You should broaden your horizons, Kaname," Yuuki says. With a straight face, he pinches his childhood friend in the ass, setting off another soprano chorus of screams.
Success.

Authoress' Notes: One of these days, I'll manage to write Yuuki/Kaname properly.
