The Final Chapter?

The world, this world, had been nothing more than a bridge.

A bridge that separated life from death, good from evil, young from old.

It had been predicted over the years, because of fire, meteors, earthquakes, days had been chosen.

It was almost as if we wanted it to end. Our lives, our children's lives, our family's lives. But we didn't, not all of us. Just the ones who got every morning and heading off to their job which involved experiments, pain, and lab coats.

It was their fault the world... ended.

They planned it, killing themselves, killing zillions of innocent people, killing her babies.

Her sweet, sweet flock was all gone, and now all that was left was their icy cold bodies, their limp bodies, their lifeless bodies.

How could she have survived something so... horrible, devastating, sick? How could he have survived as well?

She stared down at one person in particular and kneeled down next to him, brushing his hair back out of his shut eyes. "I can't do this without you." Max whispered. Dylan was alive, not with them, but alive. Not with her dead flock, but alive.

For a moment, for one stretched out, unblinking, secret moment, she thought. She thought about ending it. Max could be with Fang then, forever. She could be with the flock, forever. "You're my everything." She grabbed his pale, cold hand, wishing, hoping, praying, that he would breathe again, or that a shot of adrenaline would fall out of the sky. It might've been easier if he was alive, if he was with her, but he was dead.

The tears she had been holding in slowly fell as she wrapped her little baby, her angel, in one last and final hug.

To think, just yesterday, they had been reunited, just yesterday, that Angel had predicted this, she had tried to save them all, tried to sacrifice herself. In the end, everything short circuited, the world, and little Angel.

But not Max, but not Dylan. No, they were tortured with being alive. With living through everything instead of dying with their family. Well, Max was, she couldn't say anything for Dylan.

She ran a hand down Iggy's arm next, he had created the bomb that had gotten Angel out, with help from little Gazzy, blood and dirt covering his face, his army helmet still on, the trooper. More tears came as she whispered a final goodbye to her pyro's, and looked down at her radio. At Nudge.

"You talked to much, but that was a good thing." Max whispered, kissing Nudge's forehead before walking back to the dark figure that was Fang. How did she say goodbye to him? Had did she handle it?

"I love you, Fang. I was always yours, and I will always be yours. No matter what happens." She whispered, her tears hitting his dark shirt as they made the short journey to the ground like rain. With one last nod to her flock, the people who had raised her, who had kept her on her feet, the ones who she took care of, loved unconditionally, the ones who had helped her through everything, and were always there for her.

Max forced a smile to her face, for them, opened her wings, for them, and got a running start before taking off, for them. Max flew off to find Dylan, to survive, for them.

But as Max flew off, something happened, something she was too far gone to see, one dark, midnight blue wing... twitched.

The End.
