Chapter Five:
"Hello, Hermione, Ginny" He said a bit nervously. "This is my girlfriend, Lori. "he introduced the girl with him. She was a petite girl and had very dark brown, nearly black hair, and dark brown eyes that were dark brown.
"Its nice to meet you. Ron has told me so much about you" she said politely.
"Funny, Ron has hardly mentioned you" Ginny muttered. Hermione and Ron both shot the youngest Weasley very shocked looks.
But leave it to Hermione to save the day. "Well I've heard all about you, Lori. It's a pleasure to finally meet you."
Ron pulled Ginny aside, Hermione figured it was to scold his sister for being so rude. "Is she always so charming?" Lori asked laughing.
"She's a bit….overprotective of our group."
"I don't mind. I'm a professional Quidditch player. Snarky remarks are something I'm used to."
"So that's how you and Ron met, right?" Hermione asked. "At a Quidditch match?
Lori nodded. "That's right. We dominated the cannons, went to the closest pub to celebrate, and apparently they wanted to mourn over their loss over a few drinks. I had to tell Ron that he played brilliantly. He seemed to be the only player with hand/eye coordination. We got to talking, and well, here we are."
"And playing for separate teams with separate schedules is working?"
"We have to make it work. Every time each of us has down time, we're together, and if only one of us has down time, we're visiting the other."
"What does your family think of you spending that much time with him?"
"Well, my family isn't exactly….well, they died during the war."
"I'm so sorry to hear that."
She just shook her head. "None of that. They died when You-Know-Who started his attacks on the muggles. They died saving some children that got separated from their parents. It wasn't for nothing and that's what matters." Hermione nodded.
"Well, if things go well with Ron, or even if they don't, you're about to be welcomed into a whole new family of wonderful, loving people I have ever had the fortune of knowing." Hermione didn't notice Harry come up behind her at some point in their conversation until he spoke up, startling her slightly.
"What? No 'hello' for your best mate, Ron?" Luckily no one notice Hermione jump a little. Ron introduced Harry to Lori and then the pair excused themselves to upstairs where Hermione figured Harry would tell Ron about last night.
"So that was the famous Harry Potter." Lori inquired.
"That's him." Hermione replied.
Lori looked from where the boys disappeared to Hermione. "I don't mean to pry, but is it true that you two dated back in the day?" Hermione's eyes grew wide and Ginny chortled in the background. "I mean, I understand if you don't want to tell me" Lori said quickly. "But the Daily Prophet-"
"You shouldn't believe everything you read in papers." Hermione said, rather stiffly. "But no." she broke a smile. "We were not dating when we were in school"
"But they sure are dating now" Ginny mumbled.
"Ginevra!" Hermione scolded, trying not to laugh. "Well, Lori. I suppose you know the big news before Ron got to find out."
"Wait, how does he not know? Isn't he your guys' best friend?"
"Of course. But it only happened last night. I was to tell Ginny, which I already did. And Harry gets to tell Ron."
"I see" Lori said. "Just last night, huh? You two have been friends for what? Eleven years? What made you two" She mushed her hands together. "You know…"
"become a couple?" Hermione asked and Lori nodded in response. "Well it wasn't some cliché 'ah-ha' moment that we've loved each other since we met each other. I mean, that unrealistic at best. We were just wrapping presents for his godson, and we started talking about why he doesn't date… well, one thing led to another, we admitted fancying each other and we're just seeing how things go." She explained.
"Oh, you guys have a godson? Is he here?"
Hermione nodded. "He's with George. That's how it normally is when we come here. Teddy just loves him."
"Is that the one…"
"The twin?" Lori nodded. "Yes. He's still not quite the same. I don't think he ever will be."
Before either of them could say anything else, Molly came out of the kitchen. "Oh, Hermione dear, it's good to see you." She walked over to Hermione and hugged her tightly.
"You two, Mrs. Weasley" Hermione said, hugging her back.
"And you must be Ron's girlfriend" She turned to Lori.
"Yes ma'am. My name is Lori" She held her hand out for Molly to shake. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Weasley."
Molly laughed and pulled Lori into a hug, ignoring her handshake. "Please, dear. It's Molly." She pulled away. "Hermione here only calls me Mrs. Weasley because she refuses to call me Molly. Regardless of her being a fully capable adult, she still thinks it 'disrespectful' or some rubbish like that."
Lori laughed. "I'll keep that in mind, Molly."
"Now, could you girls get everyone rounded up? Supper is almost ready."
"Of course, Mrs. Weasley." Molly gave a grateful nod before heading back to the kitchen. "Alright, lets go get everyone"
A/N:
Ho-ly Crap. Yeah! It's been over a year and to everyone's surprise (including my own) I have returned. It has been a rough year! Let me tell you! All that crap I was going through when I posted the A/N thing is finally starting to blow over...well kinda.
Sorry this chapter didn't have much going on. It just kinda turned into Lori and Hermione talking. I thought it was a nice thing going on. Plus we get to see a little more about Lori. I really like her and have used her in other, unpublished stories and I'm seeing where this road takes things.
Alright! New news! I still have my twitter up, but also, I'm on Tumblr now! Yes! So if you ever need to yell at me for lack of updates or just want to be my new online friend, or keep up with my life...whatever just follow me! .com
And lastly, I want to thank everyone for coming back, for being supportive, and not abandoning me. You guys are seriously the best.
