The Significance of Chess

A/N: Random MMAD poem, mainly written for the reason that I feel like procrastinating, and also JKR WILL NEVER SINK THIS SHIP! Also please excuse any spelling errors (and grammar, but it's poetry so... you know.)

-and formatting may or may not have gotten messed up...

-the 'she' and 'he' referred to are, of course, Min and Albus.

Disclaimer: I totally own Harry Potter... NOT. (The Boy Who Lived and all his friends- er, and acquaintances belong to the authoress Jo Rowling, of whom I am not.)

The significance of chess, she supposed,

was about the same

as the significance of ice.

A double- edged sword;

A masquerade ball-

seemingly simple-

shallow, perhaps-

but in actual fact,

quite deep and complicated.

You see-

the significance of chess, she supposed, was that underneath the friendly competition

(though she almost always won)

hidden by the cocoa and lemon drops-

was the crack in her facade;

the smiles and the laughter.

The significance of chess, she supposed,

was the excuse it gave-

for her

to be

with him.

The significance of chess, he supposed,

was approximately equal to

the significance of fire.

Both filled him with

an inexplicable giddy feeling of warmth.

Both essential-

in his mind, at least-

to the survival of mankind.

You see-

the significance of chess, he supposed,

were flames licking at his heart.

to see her smile-

her laugh-

to add an extra twinkle to his eyes;

for him

to be

with her.

The significance of chess,

as we have come to discover,

is that maybe-

someday, perhaps-

the two friends would confess

that they each had a secret.

Yes-

the significance of chess,

as we have come to discover,

is not the competition-

nor the lemon drops-

but the chance that one

would take a great leap of faith

and tell the other

of the love they've been hiding

amidst the pawns-

the kings and queens.

But for now,

they are both content

in playing the game at hand

and pondering

the significance of chess.

A/N: Oh dear, I am rubbish at poetry.

But oh well, hope you enjoyed! (and I ask: would you like a toothbrush from that fluff? I hope it wasn't too bad...)

Remember- nice reviews= good karma! (and vice versa :D)

And does anybody think I should post more of the poetry I write? I have fun writing them, but if nobody is going to read them, I don't really see the point in posting.

Thanks for reading! And please review!
