Chapter Five: The story of my life
His father ever wanted him that much was clear. With his fast paced high energy lifestyle having a kid was the last thing that he wanted. He made it known to Tony how much he didn't want him. His mother loved him but her protection only came in glimpses. She was too afraid of his father to get too much in the way of things.
There were multiple nannies that used to try to stop the abuse. Each time Tony would get close to one of them his father would dispose of them. Kill them right in front of him and blame the spilt blood on Tony. Tony began to become upset with this. He started to associate the women dying because of him. It was all his fault.
One day his mother finally had enough of the treatment. From his hiding spot in the closet Tony could see his parents arguing.
"I am sick and tired of being trapped in this house! I am leaving and you can't stop me!" His mother screamed out. His father then reached for her and hit her.
"Like hell you are, you are staying here. I have too many appearances this week that we need to go to and I can't have you messing them up!" His father responded.
"You killed Esmerelda! I can't be a part of this anymore!" His mother screamed out trying to get away from his father.
"Is that so?" His father countered with. "Fine, leave. See where that gets you."
"I'm going upstate to my parent's house for the weekend. I'm taking Tony with me." She said as she grabbed a suitcase from the hall closet and made her way past her husband into the bedroom.
"Good take him. I hope you have safe travels." He said with a smile on his face and Tony could see something darker hiding underneath.
Tony and his mother were in her small Lexus. They were seated in the back while the chauffeur drove them to her parent's house upstate. Tony was playing with his action figures quietly while his mother nursed a drink.
"We are getting far away from your father bambino."
Tony looked up when she said this just in time to see the oncoming garbage truck that was about to collide with them head on.
Before Tony could scream, the car was barreled into.
Minutes later Tony came to and found himself in the crashed car. He looked at his arm and found his bone sticking out and that scared him. He then looked up to see his mother dead next to him. He screamed when he saw her.
"What the hell was that?" he heard a voice say.
Tony was crying hysterically by this point.
"Help! Help!" he screamed out in Italian.
Then a hand reached in the car and grabbed him and took him out. He fought against it but the grip was too strong.
When he was taken out of the car he opened his eyes to find his father and another man standing there.
"Daddy!" Tony screamed. He was then backhanded across the face.
"Great he wasn't supposed to live. This was supposed to be a clean job." His father said.
"Daddy! Mommy is hurt!" Tony said.
His father grabbed him and lifted him by the front of his shirt. "Yes my little bambino and it is all your fault. Just like the other nannies, her death was because of you. She wanted to leave the house because of you. If you weren't alive she still would be."
"Daddy!" Tony tried again. But he was punched this time.
"I am not your father anymore. You are dead to me." His father said as he threw Tony onto the ground. Tony cried out in pain.
"Clean this up. Take him far." His father said. He turned back to Tony. "You will never be safe. Don't you dare tell anyone what happened or they will be next to go. You hear me?"
Tony just stared at his dad.
"I said do you hear me!" His father said as he kicked him.
"Yes!" Tony said as he hunched over in pain.
"Get him out of my sight." His father said as he waved his hand. The man next to him then picked Tony up and dragged him over to the trunk of a car and stuffed him in.
"Tony?" Gibbs tried again.
The kid had spaced out after dropping the bomb that it was his fault his mother died. Gibbs didn't know what to make out of it. He probably wasn't going to get the answers he was looking for from the kid today. He knew that, but he was going to try.
Tony finally shook his head and appeared to come back to the real world. He was breathing kind of harsh.
Gibbs went to reach for the pitcher of water in front of Tony and Tony flinched hard, raising his good arm to protect himself.
"Uh, Duck, want to tell him it's ok? I'm just getting him water."
Ducky translated and Tony blushed as he put his arm down.
Gibbs poured Tony a cup of water and Tony drank it. Gibbs took the cup and set it down.
"Tony can you tell us about your mom?" Gibbs asked, Ducky translated.
Tony's face darkened and he shook his head. Before Gibbs could press Tony more there was a knock on the door and the social worker came in. Of course it was a woman and Tony started to freak out again.
"Maybe we should talk outside first." She suggested and Gibbs agreed leaving Ducky to try to calm Tony down.
They found some chairs in a small waiting area that was unoccupied and they sat down. Gibbs knew he had to behave in order to try to get Tony into his custody.
"So Mr. Gibbs, my name is Daniella Marino and I the social worker that was assigned to Tony's case."
"Ok." Gibbs said as he sat back in the chair.
"I was told that the boy only speaks Italian. I happened to be from an Italian family and can speak Italian as well so this will work out perfectly."
Gibbs nodded his head. At least there was someone else that could understand the kid.
"Am I to assume that you do not speak Italian?" Daniella asked.
"No I don't but my ME does." Gibbs answered.
"And how did you come across Tony?" Daniella asked.
"We found him in a park sleeping in a tube." Gibbs answered.
"And did you find out where Tony was from?"
"Yes, he told us New York."
"New York, now that is awful far away, do you think that the boy might be lying about it?" Daniella asked as she made notes on Tony's file.
"Why would the kid lie about that?" Gibbs asked.
"I don't know, sometimes runaways like to make up stories." Daniella added.
"I doubt he is making it up." Gibbs said.
"And his reaction to when I walked in the room, is that normal?" She asked.
"We found out that he is afraid of women. We don't know why but he has a strong aversion to them." Gibbs sighed.
"Well that will make things a little difficult because I have to talk to him." Daniella said.
"Is there any way that I can get him placed under my care. Me and my wife are registered as foster parents and we are investigating what happened to him. He is a homeless kid with no family to trace." Gibbs was hopeful. He had a gut feeling about the dad and he didn't want the lady finding anything out.
"I think not Mr. Gibbs, there is too much of a language barrier. I can find him a family that speaks his language."
"You don't have to speak the same language to be able to care for a kid." Gibbs said.
"No but it will offer him some comfort."
"He already has comfort with me!"
"There is no need to get excited Mr. Gibbs. For now I will have to interview Tony." Daniella said as she got up from the chair.
Gibbs followed her to the room. He stopped her right outside the door. "Let me prepare him for you coming in."
"I don't want you to influence his answers." Daniella said.
"I'm not going to do that I am going to comfort and prepare him for you coming in the room."
"That won't be necessary Mr. Gibbs, I am good with children." Daniella countered and entered the room.
Tony tensed up and started to breather heavily again despite Dr. Mallard calming him down.
"Calm down Tony I am just here to talk to you." Daniella said in Italian.
Tony perked up a little at hearing the Italian but still was trying to hide. "Go away" was all he said from his hiding spot.
"I am here to talk about who you will be living with for a little while." Daniella took a seat across from Tony and Tony was not having it.
"No, I want to live with my Jethro. He can keep me safe." Gibbs heard his name in the mix but had no idea what they were talking about. Ducky smiled though.
"You can't live with him Tony." Daniella said. This got Tony riled up.
"You said that he would protect me! You lied to me!" Tony yelled at Ducky.
"Yes I did say that. He does want to protect you but this woman is the one who decides that." Ducky explained.
Tony then faced his attention back to the woman. "Please let me stay with my Jethro. I want to be safe. He keeps me safe. When I was afraid of the nurses he came right over and saved me. Please let me stay with my Jethro."
"But he doesn't speak Italian, don't you want a family that can understand you?" Daniella asked.
"No its ok. I learn English. I want to stay with my Jethro and Kelly and I want to be safe. Please let me be safe." Tony pleaded.
"Ok, Tony, I will let you stay with Jethro." Daniella said moved by the little boy.
Tony smiled but still did not move from his hiding spot behind the blankets.
Sorry for the short update on this. I guess a short update is better than no update. I actually already planned out the next three chapters for this story which makes my writing a lot easier.
I do my writing based on how many reviews I get. The more reviews I get on a work the more that I work on them. I plan on updating my Supernatural story within the next day or so, so look out for that.
If you want me to update this story faster let me hear how much you love it by reviewing!
I promise there will be much cuter Tony moments to come I just had to get over some logistics first.
