A/N Here is the continuation of Chapter 8. I decided to keep the sex discussion fairly tame in this chapter although the team will see and learn more about Lila and Spencer's relationship in future chapters.
"Oh God." Reid moaned as his face turned crimson.
"Spence, I tried to be discreet but I thought I had to give them something. I was trying to established rapport." Lila offered.
"Great Rossi's books again." Reid said as Rossi beamed.
"So anyway, Julie asked how your work affected our relationship. I had to twist things a little bit because our relationship is so…so mutual but I didn't want to tell her that so I said that you profile others for a living so you don't like to be forced to profile me. I told her I try to keep things on an even keel for you. I told her you're very unhappy when I'm irritated with you and absolutely shattered when I cry, even if it's at a sad movie. She asked how this case compared to others cases you've had. I said unfortunately you've seen so much worse including cases involving children. I said occasionally you share a lot, most of the time you just give basic details and sometimes you just look at me all sad and say 'it was a bad one, baby.' I also told her depending on the case we'll usually talk when you come home, sometimes you'll want to be alone and read a book, and occasionally you'll be more eager to have me take your mind off it and make some new happy memories." Lila shared leaving Reid only slightly pink in the cheeks.
"It sounds like you were very discreet with her, Lila." Hotch offered.
Having finished her lunch and noticing that Reid had also finished his lunch, Lila turned to her husband and asked. "Honey, would you please, get me a slice of grits bread and help everyone else get their dessert."
"Yea honey, take my plate and get me a big old slice of banana walnut bread." Morgan said with a chuckle.
"What is grits bread anyway?" Rossi asked.
"It's like cornbread but made with grits." Lila explained.
"I bet Susan Campbell wanted details." Morgan said causing Reid to glare to him.
"Well actually in some ways she was the easiest of the three because she and her husband seemed so unrestrained. After I explained that up to now our marriage has been bicoastal and we're only together one week a month, well she asked me if we've ever had a booty call in the parking garage at Dulles International." Lila said giggling.
"A what?" Reid shrieked his voice going up several octaves.
"A booty call, lover. If you and the wife.." Morgan began with a wide smile on his face.
"I know what a booty call is. You, of course, told her no." Now crimson faced Reid asked nervously.
"Well not exactly. I mean, yes I told her no but I didn't just say no, remember I was trying to establish rapport. I told her that unfortunately a booty call even between spouses is a misdemeanor in Virginia. Since you are a federal agent, you are sworn to uphold the law, all laws including the silly little ones. Your job means so much to you and you are so good at it that we'd hate for you to lose it because of something like that. So we always restrain ourselves in public. I did tell her that of course we miss each other terribly so there's some kissing, hugging, a little groping, a couple buttons coming undone but never anything more than second baseball in the parking garage at Dulles." Lila explained.
"What was the date and time of your last visit to Virginia?" Garcia asked.
"Garcia, you are not looking for footage." Reid exclaimed
"Oh my young love I will do more than look for footage. I will find footage." Garcia replied.
"You said you and Angela were friends in college." Prentiss prompted.
"Yea, May insisted Angela put me on speakerphone when we started talking about you. May thinks you're a total stud. She said you seemed so compassionate, charming, and she's never heard a Caucasian speak such beautiful Cantonese." Lila began.
"Cantonese, you said it was Mandarin." Garcia whispered to Morgan.
"I said I thought it was a Chinese dialect but I wasn't sure." Morgan replied as Lila took a bite of her grits bread and Reid returned to his seat to eat his dessert having served his teammates.
"Anyway she said your accent and grammar were flawless. Then she asked me if you are a generous lover?" Lila said softly
"Lila Jane." Reid scolded
"Now, we're getting somewhere." Morgan said with a laugh.
Lila nodded her head in agreement and said. "Don't worry Spence. I didn't give away any secrets. I felt like I had to give them something but it was so hard not to gush. I told her you are very generous and romantic in all ways and I try to do little romantic things for you too. I told her since our first date you've bought me a dozen pink roses at least a couple times a month. I told them we take turns planning dates when I'm in Virginia -sometimes we visit a museum other times we get tickets to anything from the ballet to a baseball game but our favorite thing is walking the trails along the Skyline Drive hand in hand."
"Reid who knew you were such a romantic." Prentiss teased as Reid glanced lovely at his wife.
"So there were no similarities between the three couples and you don't feel any of their relationships were similar to yours." Hotch questioned just as Reid put a piece of brownie in his mouth.
"Well physically no but then I realized that was the similarity." Lila explained as Reid who was still chewing scowled.
"I'm not following." Rossi interjected.
"The similarity wasn't the physical it was the emotional. I feel like they were all lacking that emotional spark or connectedness that is vital to a truly satisfying selfless physical relationship. I think they settled. I think it was just sex. Spence and I, I'm sorry if this embarrasses you honey but we need to tell them, we're so in love, we make love, we're so devoted, so passionate about each other, so tender. What we share physically is just incred.." Lila gushed causing the entire team to smile and the women to blush varying shades of reddish-pink.
Reid finally swallowed. Embarrassed by the direction the conversation was taking, he said tersely "Lila, your projecting."
"Projecting, how I'm I projecting? I'm trying to find a similarity. Don't we need a similarity?" Lila asked sadly as her eyes filled with tears.
"No not always." Rossi began as Lila placed her hand over her mouth trying to muff a small sob as tears began to roll down her cheeks.
"Oh God, baby. I'm so sorry. Please come here." Reid pleaded as he placed his plate on the coffee table in front of him and motioned for Lila to sit on his lap.
"But it's very important to know that there aren't any similarities." Hotch offered as the women and Morgan winced slightly and Lila shifted herself onto Reid's lap.
"So I did ok?" Lila asked quietly before facing her husband.
"You did so great, baby. I'm so sorry. I'm in work mode. I should never have been short with you. Please forgive me." Reid begged having wrapped one hand around his wife's waist and put his other hand under her skirt on her outer thigh where he was tenderly caressing her."
"There is nothing to forgive. I was afraid I did everything wrong. I'm trying to be an asset and I'm exhausted but please explain your comment about projecting so I understand your point" Lila said softly as she leaned her head onto his shoulder and dried her final tears.
"I…I think you're looking at the other relationships and not seeing what you want in a relationship but that doesn't mean the other women weren't happy with their partners. Julie told Garcia she loved being the bonus mom." Reid began
"She did say she was so thankful the children were with their mom that night." Lila said
"The Campbells were fans of the Atlanta Hawks." Reid stated.
"She said they'd watch the away games on TV and loved to make fancy rum drinks. It reminded me of our afternoons having chili or stew while cuddled up watching movies." Lila interjected.
"Yea when I was in their kitchen I noticed they liked tropical drinks and it made me think of how much you love to cook for me. With Angela and Dan, well they were both educators and they both loved Asian culture." Reid explained.
"Yea I guess that makes sense. We've always said others including the team might not understand our attraction. So many people see me as just a bikini clad blonde and only see your incredible intelligence but we see each other as so much more." Lila reasoned.
"I think they got that." Reid said blushing.
"I embarrassed you, I'm sorry. I was just trying to help. I should probably go take my nap so you can get back to work." Lila said softly as she ran her fingers through her husband's hair and stared lovingly into his eyes.
"Yea, would you like me to tuck you in?" Reid offered.
"No honey. I really am exhausted. Are you going to leave?" Lila asked sadly.
"Reid, you can stay here and help Garcia track Dubois across the country." Hotch announced.
"Geographic profiling will be challenging on this one." Reid agreed.
"So the two of you can work in our suite?" Lila asked happily turning to face Garcia.
"I don't see why not." Garcia agreed.
"Good that way I'll be able to hear your voice and know I'm safe. Oh and would you make sure I'm awake by 4pm. Billy Bush is coming at 5pm." Lila replied once again focusing only on her husband.
"Billy Bush?" JJ asked confused
"Yea, we'll give him an exclusive about our marriage. I figured he would be the best choice since he understands government clearances and family members who are targets." Lila explained.
"I'm confused, how is he any different from any other entertainment reporter?" Prentiss asked.
"Billy BUSH. His father Jonathan is a younger brother of the 41st President, George Herbert Walker Bush, which makes him a first cousin of the 43rd President, George Walker Bush." Reid explained.
"Oh." Garcia said.
"I didn't know that." JJ added.
"Yea, so I'll see everyone later." Lila said before her lips met her husband's in a searing kiss. He took his hand out from under her skirt and wrapped it firmly around her waist as she deepened the kiss. They moaned softly in unison as his teammates sat silently some watching and some trying not to watch.
When it ended, Lila looked at the group, blushed slightly, got off Reid's lap and walked into the suite's bedroom quickly closing the door behind her. All the while Reid was watching her with an adoring and lust filled look on his face. After she closed the door, Reid turned smiling toward the group, catching Morgan's eye he said simply "Don't even."
