Disclaimer: I do not own Hetalia or Germany. I do, however, own Veronika. She's mine.

Hope you guys like this! I'd really love it if you could review as well

World War II had finally ended.

The fighting was over. Not another life had to be taken and not another drop of blood had to be spilt.

The peace would soon return as the people of each nation joined together in the mass clean up of their country. However, there was one girl who had her heart set on helping someone else.

The man who had controlled everything Ludwig did for the last six years was gone and he needed help getting back on his feet. He may have betrayed them all in the war, but she was the only one able to see that he wasn't thinking straight. He had been brainwashed.

She was the one that would bring him back into the world.

He would later thank her for not giving up on him.

It had been over forty years since Veronika had decided to be the one that would make people look past everything Germany had done during the war. And now they stood together on opposite sides of the Berlin Wall smiling at each other through a hole someone had knocked through.

The year was 1989. The crisp November air washed over their faces as they waited for the first bulldozer to arrive and break down the stone.

Ludwig chuckled at Veronika as she stood on her tiptoes to look through the peephole that had been made in the wall. It had been so long since they had last seen each other that they were almost strangers and yet they had both stayed exactly the same.

The mass of people behind them started screaming and cheering and the sounds of roaring engines could vaguely be heard above the noise. The bulldozers were here.

"I've waited so long to see this happen. I just knew this day would come!" Veronika's eyes were twinkling in the winter sun.

Ludwig smiled a grateful, genuine smile. "Thanks for believing."

His thick German accent almost made her weak.

"Someone had to."

Before she could even process it, he had stuck his head through the hold and had kissed her.

And it was the sweetest, most caring kiss she had ever received.

He'd had forty years to plan it after all.
