So. I really got to work on posting this regularly. So starting this week I do plan on posting one every week. It most likely won't be the same day every week. It will have to depend on whether or not I finished it before that time in the week or not. But I do plan on posting on every week. Writing this is easier somehow now. So that's better let me tell you that. Thank you for sticking with this story for so long. It's been over a year and we've all gone through a lot. So thank you. I just want this fanfic to go on forever, but I know it can't. But I don't know how many chapters I plan on posting to be honest. I mean in the beginning I was only planning like 20-30. But theres no way that can happen. I can't write everything I want to in 30 chapters.
I also got a tumblr for this in case it just disappears cause they like to take stories off of here if it;s not like what you say. So if you want too you can check out/ follow hearitplay . tumblr.
Sorry for all those words. But please read that.
Seeing him in that hospital bed for the third week killed Lea inside. To her, he looked so lifeless, like he didn't even have the strength to fight anymore. Sure the chemo was working, a little bit at least. But he had been stuck in the hospital for three weeks, not just a few days anymore. Turns out the cancer was spreading and it was getting harder for Cory to breathe. Lea was leaving against the door frame at the moment holding onto the 'Cory' necklace that she had on. She couldn't step into the room, it was too hard for her. Her other hand was on her now slightly bigger tummy. She sighed and looked down at her stomach and whispered. "Daddy is going to be fine. He's strong. You're gonna be strong too, just like him." She smiled weakly and looked up at Cory. No hair, he was thinner. Doctors said it was the chemo, but Lea knew there was more than just the chemo causing all of this.
Lea hadn't been home much the past weeks. Only to get clothes every now and then. She spent nights at the hospital, and spent days at the glee lot when Cory was in treatment because she wasn't just going to stay at the hospital for hours when she could be filming so Rachel would have her screen time. She was grateful for the cast. They were there and they were all helping her cope with this.
"Cast dinner at my place tonight." Naya smiled at Lea. "You're coming." Naya nodded at Lea and down next to her.
"I don't know. I mean, I'm gonna b-" She was interrupted.
"Be at the hospital. Lea, you need to get out of there for a little while." Naya smiled slightly at her and put a hand on her hand.
"I am out of there, every day. I'm here. I just, it won't feel like a cast dinner without him, Naya." Lea said looking down.
"It won't feel like a cast dinner if you're not there either." Naya sighed.
Lea shrugged. "I just, I don't feel like going Naya. I'm sorry."
"Please, just stop by, you can take some food to Cory. Okay?" Naya asked.
Lea sighed and nodded. "I guess I can do that."
Naya smiled at hugged her. "I'm serving food at 7." She smiled. "So come whenever." Lea nodded and watched Naya walk away. Lea sighed as she sat, she looked down at her phone and sent a simple text to Cory.
I won't be over till like 7;30-8. Naya's having a cast dinner and wants me there. I told her no, but she's making me. I'm gonna bring you some food. I love you. I hope you're doing good today. It'll be all worth it in the end. I love you.
She did that a lot. Sending him texts while he was in treatment. He wouldn't get them till he was done, but she knew that it put a smile on his face. And it didn't matter to him what she said, just the fact that she cared was enough. He knew she cared anyway, they were in love, expecting a child, and getting married. But he felt he was the reason for a lot of her crying nights and worrisome nights too. He felt bad that she was part of all of this. In the back of his mind he wish he never feel in love with her when he first saw her, with her sunglasses on and asking what was wrong with her car. He wished he never agreed to helping her move. Wished he never knew she lived next to him. But with his wishing all that stuff, he didn't regret it. Which was weird to him. He actually didn't wish that none of it happened. He was glad it did, because he found the one.
Cory was lying in bed that afternoon. His treatment ended a little earlier than they expected and it was only 2. He had to wait maybe 5 or 6 hours until he could see Lea. He thought of texting her back, but he didn't. He didn't want her to get distracted with work, because she needed to focus and finish what she could before it was too late. It still hadn't really hit him that he was going to be a father. Wasn't hitting him that he was going to be a husband either. Sure he could see Lea's growing belly and the ring on her finger, but it didn't faze him. He was glad though, he knew that she was carrying his child and they would be getting married. It didn't matter to him when, but he did want to get married soon. Maybe once he's able to get out of the hospital he can ask Jon to help him put together a little wedding for them. With just their friends and family. It would be nice. He knows it would hurt her because she wouldn't have her father to walk her down the aisle, and it would hurt himself to not have his own father either. But he knew why. He was lost in his own thoughts.
He heard a little knock on his door and he stopped thinking and looked over at the door. It was Ann. She had tears in her eyes as she slowly walked to the bed.
"Mom.." Cory said quietly.
"Oh my God." She put a hand over her mouth.
"Mom, I'm okay. I'm getting better." He spoke as he watched her sit on the edge of the bed.
"You have me so scared. Your brother too. When we heard, he started crying Cor. He can't lose you." She shook her head.
"He's not going to lose me. Mom, I'm not going anywhere." He smiled at her. "I promise."
Ann nodded at him and spoke in a whisper. "Where's Lea? I would think she'd be by your side the whole time."
"She's on set. She's here every night and usually if she here during the day, I'm in treatment and it's just a waste of her time to wait hours for me. Plus she needs to finish filming before she starts to show even more." He spoke in an even tone.
Ann had a confused look on her face. "Show?" Cory realized he never told his parents, or Shaun. "Is she…is she pregnant?" Ann asked.
Cory smiled at his mom and nodded. "Yeah, she's about two months now. I'm so scared. Especially now. I mean, I'm not even there for her."
"That's not true and you know that." Ann nodded. "You are there and you are trying your best. I can tell." Ann smiled she kissed his forehead.
Cory sighed, "I love her. So much. And I know she's hurting because I'm here."
"You can't help it. You're getting help, you're getting better. Sweetie. That's all any of us want. We want you to get better."
"Where are you staying mom?" Cory asked.
"I got a hotel."
Cory shook his head. "Stay at the apartment, Lea sleeps here every night so you won't have anyone else."
"Shaun and Cece are coming down with Lilly and Ed." Cece was Shaun's wife and Lilly and Ed were they're kids.
"They can stay too. You'd have the two apartments. Mom there's more than enough room and it's free." Cory nodded. "Please."
Ann smiled and sighed. "Fine. We'll stay there." She looked down at her watch. "What are you doing for supper?" Ann asked.
"Lea is bringing me food from Naya's." Cory told her.
"Okay, well I got to go get your brother, then we'll head to the apartments. Tomorrow we'll all come okay? Make sure Lea is here. We want to see her." Ann spoke as she got up.
"I'll tell her." He smiled. Ann placed a kiss on Cory's cheek.
"I love you." She smiled weakly.
"I love you too mom." He smiled and watched her as she walked out.
