Me: William…..?

Will: *gasping in pain as blood runs down his chest* What?!

Me: *sweetly* could you do the disclaimer for me? :3

Will: You can't be serious.

Me: Of course I am!

Will: If I do the disclaimer, will you make me better and return Tessa to me?

Me: I'll consider it.

Will: *sighs, then gasps in pain again* Baneswoman does not own the Infernal Devices or any of its characters, that honor goes to Cassandra Clare. Now would you heal me already you bloody blasphemous succubus?!

Me: Perhaps!

ENJOY!

Tessa's POV

I followed Mortmain up the stone staircase, escorted on both sides by automatons. It grew warmer as we walked, but I still shivered. I did not enjoy being in this man's presence. I wanted to rip out his heart after what he had done to Will. Mortmain had done nothing to heal him, given him nothing to cover his wound. He could bleed to death or get an infection…

"Here we are, Miss Gray," Mortmain said, ripping me from my train of thought. "My personal chambers." He took my arm and guided me inside, but left the automatons in the hallway, likely in the case of my escape. I expected the room to be full of gadgets and gears, but it was quite simple. Velvet curtains hung by the windows, held back with shining gold ropes. Matching couches lined the walls. An ebony vanity table sat near a desk that had scattered papers across its surface.

"Admiring?" Mortmain asked with a slight chuckle.

"No," I replied quietly. "This looks like a woman's room."

"If that is supposed to be an insult, I am not offended."

"I could insult you if you'd like," I spat. "You are a blasphemous pig of a-"

"Ah ah ah, Miss Gray. Remember that your young William is still under my management." I shut my mouth and ground my teeth together to keep myself from screaming. "Much better. Now, since you have so considerately joined me, I believe we are ready to begin."

"Begin what?"

"Begin what I've been needing you for. And the first thing you need to do is remove all of your clothing."

Magnus's POV

Automatons were everywhere, gripping me and my companions. They all were fighting with everything they had. Henry had pulled out a seraph blade and was thrashing away at the mechanical creatures, the younger Lightwood by his side. The two seemed to be shielding Charlotte from danger, and I recalled a moment later that she was with child. Gideon and the servant girl were back to back, fending for themselves. Jem had just come down the stairs and pulled out a blade of his own. I myself was using magic and fists to defend myself.

And still it wasn't good enough.

There had to be at least fifty of them, and we had only dispatched of seven. We fought and fought, but I knew that we had lost as soon as metallic hands clamped down on my arms and lifted me above them. There was the possibility that I could have escaped, could have helped only myself, but warlock or not, I still had a heart, and I allowed myself to be carried out with the Shadowhunters.

Tessa's POV

"…Pardon?"

Mortmain regarded me with malice. "Remove. All. Of. Your. Clothing."

"What…?! No! Absolutely not!" I sputtered, stepping back. I would not allow such a vulgar man to see my bare body, a man I did not love, a man I hated.

"Miss Gray, if you do not cooperate, I will kill William Herondale and force you to watch the entire occurrence." I stared at him with hatred as well as horror. "Take off your clothes."

"W-why? Why must I remove my garments?" I really hoped it wasn't for the reason I was thinking. "You are forcing me to do things against my will, at least tell me what they are and why."

"I need you to change for me," Mortmain answered. "And it is into a highly respectable male figure, so I do not wish to see him wearing a lady's dress." He smiled with his words, and the look in his eyes showed me there was more reasoning to the removal of my clothing than what he had stated. I looked around the room and spotted something, something that made my heart flutter with a little bit of hope.

I walked to the window and looked out at the sky. The sun would be rising soon. I looked down and took a deep breath before speaking. "I can't do it myself…it ties in the back." I spared a glance at Mortmain, whose face had gone blank with surprise. He hadn't really thought I would give consent. But Mortmain composed himself and joined me by the window. He skimmed his fingers up and down my arms, and I held on to the curtain in front of me. His hands slowly crawled up to my shoulders, glided across the nape of my neck, then to my upper back. I began to fiddle with the rope that held the curtain back as he touched me, hard as it was not to shudder and sprint away from him. I found the knot of the rope and began to untie it the same time Mortmain began untying the strings that held my dress together. The rope came down loose, and I bunched the curtain within my hand, hoping he wouldn't notice it waver. The steady rhythm of his hands on my back showed he hadn't.

Now was my chance. I elbowed him in the chest while slipping the rope off the curtain. I used a move Gabriel had showed me in training, kneeing Mortmain in stomach, taking hold of his arm, then spinning him around so his back was to me. I had the element of surprise on my side, so I was able to pin him down on the floor, with his hands pinned under my knees. I quickly slipped the rope around his neck and pulled as hard as I could.

I wasn't a killer, butI held Mortmain, struggling as he did, underneath of my body. I was not particularly strong, but I had had training, and I had anger and heartache assisting me. And I did not stop until his body went limp under mine, and his head slumped onto the floor. While still on his back, I felt around on his neck for a pulse. I remembered how Aunt Harriet had showed me how to check a pulse when I was younger, and how fascinated I was with the feel of my heart fluttering under my own fingers. Mortmain's was still fluttering, but very, very faintly.

I stood and raced around the room, searching the drawers for any kind of weapon, but found none. I was about to stop looking, when a shining blade on the wall caught my eye. It was sharp, and as I took it down, heavy too. But I had dealt with heavier weapons in training, and I balanced the sword properly in my hand before bursting out of the room.

Will's POV

I hadn't realized my eyes were closed until the sound of many scuffing feet forced me to open them. Several people had entered my cell, well, more like forced into my cell. And my fretfully beating heart filled with joy at the sight of who was in front of me. Magnus, Jem, Henry, Charlotte, Gideon, Gabriel, and Sophie…all here with me.

"Jem!" I sputtered. My heart quickly deflated. Their presence meant they had been captured as well.

"Will!" Charlotte exclaimed, rushing over to me. Jem joined her. "Oh, Angel, he's wounded-does anyone have a stele?"

"They were all taken from us when we came in, Charlotte," Henry said.

Charlotte looked hopefully to Magnus. "Magnus, can you do anything?"

"I can try," he replied.

"No, Magnus," I coughed. "Save your magic for something better."

Magnus kneeled next to me on the cold ground. "I can think of nothing better, William." He placed his hands on me but paused before he could work any magic, due to the scuffling of more feet. We all look up at the doorway.

Tessa was standing there, a sword in one hand, her dress dirty and partly slipping off of her shoulders. Blood ran down the side of her face and her left arm was sliced open.

She looked around at all of us and sighed with frustration. "Really, Will, isn't it hard enough saving just you, let alone everyone else we love?"

And despite everything, I smiled.
