Epilogue
The next day, they get ready for Thor and Loki to return to Asgard. Bruce and Tony had made sure to place the Tesseract in a lead lined briefcase, careful not to make any skin contact with it.
Like they could, with Steve hovering over their shoulders.
At one point, Tony barked; "Calm down, Capsicle! You're gonna make me panic!"
Steve kindly backed away after the outburst.
In the afternoon the team met in Central Park for the send off. Tony brought the suitcase and Bruce placed it within a glass tube lined with gold to trap the cube's energy inside. Steve glared at the Tesseract until it was out of sight, as were the Asgardians.
Steve approached Tony's sports car offering his hand.
"So, what are you gonna do now?" Tony asked.
Steve smiled slowly, ducking his head, "I'm actually not sure. No real plan yet."
"You're more that welcome at the Tower until you come up with something."
Steve glanced back up at Tony, a question in his eyes at the smirk on Tony's face.
"Aren't you with Ms. Potts?"
"Are you kidding? Did you see the way Natasha and Pepper looked at each other last night before they clocked out?"
Steve stared, dumbfounded.
"Huh."
"Huh, indeed. Lucky for you, I'm the smart one."
Steve lightly punched Tony's shoulder, an amused smile on his face.
"Watch it."
Tony just laughed.
"Seriously, though. Are you coming or not?"
Steve smiled widely for a brief second before leaning in slowly to brush lips softly against Tony's.
"First one there is a rotten egg," he breathed before pulling away entirely.
Tony watched Steve stride back to his bike, a disbelieving look on his face.
"Did you actually just say that?"
Tony laughed when he saw Steve's ears turn beet red. Jumping into the driver's seat, he looked over at Bruce, who simply smirked.
"Oh, shut up!"
Bruce laughed.
Steve pulled up alongside Tony's sports car, raising his eyebrows challengingly.
Tony merely smiled and they were off.
Who was to say that if he did lose, he still managed to get the good Captain to come to bed with him anyways? After all, he always did have a way out.
Author's Note
Okay, been a really long time. I know! I also know this is really rushed and sucky ending but it's finally over. Do tell me how I did and if you think I should do a one-shot follow up on them. Please be kind!
