PREVIOUSLY ON THE TALE OF UZU
Later that night, after Tenmei, Naruto and Tsunade were asleep, Yuudai finished placing updated security seals around the perimeter of the compound when he sensed a familiar presence appear. With a tired sigh, he started to walk towards the distant room that the presence settled in. Of course it was the Library.
Upon arriving, he saw the familiar green hair of his trusted tactician, Yokiko Uzuki.
"Finally! I have been here forever." She complained.
"Nice to see you too. What do you need?" He replied with a tired smile.
"All work tonight, eh? We lost track of Nagato and several dozen of the children were unaccounted for. Among them was Karin-chan."
The silver eyes of the uzumaki lit up at the name, recognizing its importance. "I assume all the other children also had the same chakra anomaly?
"Indeed, Yuudai-sama. It seems their guard detail was discovered and destroyed. You realize what this means, do you not?"
"A fuck ton of paperwork and angry parents. And that someone close to the top is a rat."
"All of those are true." She said seriously.
After a moment of thought, Yuudai spoke up. "Use the cloning seal."
"Sir?! You know we cannot have you use that for extended periods of time. You will be in-" She tried to argue, knowing where his plan was going.
"I know. Just do it."
"SIR!" she pressed.
"Please, Yo-chan. Just take some blood and do it. It will work out.
With a sigh of resignation, Yokiko did as she was told.
"Tell no one."
"Duh, sir."
"I will be staying in Konoha for a bit, but i need to keep Uzu together. This is the only way." He sighed.
Knowing her leader wasn't going to listen to her anymore, the genius sighed and relented. "By your leave, sir."
NOW:
"It's finally here!" a young voice shouted far too early in the morning for the taste of his housemates.
"Quiet down, Gaki and get down here! You're gonna be late if you don't!" Another male voice shouted from somewhere further in the house.
The owner of the voice seemingly made a plethora of crashes as he made his way too his shower. The sun had just risen moments beforehand, casting a light orange glow into the room that the first voice had come from. Steps could be heard coming towards said room once the shower stopped, and as the door was pushed open, florescent lighting sparked to light illuminating the owner of the first voice. He was a young blonde boy around the age of twelve. His eyes, though clouded by sleep, were a deep cerulean. He was dressed in khaki like shorts that contained hidden pockets for the odds and ends of ninja, complemented by a pouch strapped to his right leg, just above hand level. His top, which was a black shirt with a slightly raised collar, was adorned with an orange spiral upon the front. To complete the outfit, the boy wore black sandals. Said boy yawned absently as he grabbed a piece of paper from the wooden desk before running out of his room and down the grand staircase at the end of the hall way. He rolled his eyes slightly at seeing several members of his clan shining the statues that adorned the base of the stairs; he always laughed at his clans extravagant tastes.
Reaching the foyer of his home, the boy raced into a hallway that lead to a large kitchen with the most up to date appliances and decorated with cherry wood cabinets, white granite counters and what seemed to be a clear stone with a cloudy center for knobs. Standing in this large kitchen was one of the other members of the home, and the owner of the second voice.
"About time, Naruto! I swear you sleep in at the worst days. If you don't eat your breakfast quickly, we won't make it to your last day of classes and the whole graduation exam. You still want to do that right? I mean, if you don't I could always use another slav- I mean errand boy. Or you could be Kaa-chan's punching bag." The man said. He was dressed in loose cargo pants that were a navy blue, with a pouch on each hip, and one additional on his left leg, all three being a dark tan color. He had on a matching navy gi top with three-quarter sleeves. He had a strange style of red hair, with silver streaks showing at random intervals, making the obviously young adult seem to be much older. Said hair was kept shaggy and reached the collar of his shirt, with two bangs being mid chest level. Keeping said hair out of his face, he had what appeared to be a thick circlet made of silver (A) that had an opening in the middle to expose a green diamond pattern on his forehead and was covered in intricate lines and characters. Said diamond was the same color as the man's eyes, being jade in color.
"Yeah, Yeah! I know! As the clan heir I have to pass this stupid exam. I just don't see why you wouldn't let me take it last year, Yuudai-nisan! I was top of the class and they offered to let us take it early! (B)" the blonde whined.
"You know why! We were way to busy last year to worry about you on missions. Come on, little man, time to head to school." The older boy smirked as a tick mark appeared on the young blondes head.
"OI! I AM NOT SHORT!" he roared, chasing after the man.
"You know that you are, until you hit your growth spurt at least, little man." The older male snickered as the boy caught up with me. He waved to the gate guards of the clan grounds as he and his young cousin headed out of their home and into the rest of the village of Konoha. Thankfully, since the entire clan arrived along with its retainer clans, the ever wise counsel managed to build a nice path to the remote clan compound.
"I still don't see why our gates and buildings need to cost more than a small village to build. Who needs jade and gold all over the place?" the youngest asked after a time.
"Beats me, Naru-chan! You know my opinion on these things. But the elders would have a fit if I removed them. And they annoy me more than any monetary waste." The elder shrugged, growling slightly at the end of his statement.
"It could be worse, ni-san! The civilians could still run the counsel." The boy glowered. He had numerous issues with the rich nobles near the end of their reign. Naruto remembered quite clearly a number of times that his head was called for. After a year of it, his aunt and cousin had enough and had the majority of the civilians removed from their position of power. To not completely remove the commoners from the government, representatives for the farmers, merchants, and civilian workers were allowed to remain, as long and the civilians voted them in every year or so. It also helped that it was forbidden to campaign for the position, meaning that these politicians were forced to focus on their obligations, rather than re-election.
"Ugh, don't remind me, Naru-chan. I wasn't allowed a moments of rest with those crazed charlatans running amok." The silverette groaned. He nodded to several people on the street as they wished him and his cousin a good morning. Even Naruto was given plenty of cordial greetings and warm hellos.
After more small talk about things of little importance, the duo arrived at the academy building. Standing at the entrance was a woman the same age as Yuudai, "clothed" in a tan trench coat, black skirt that reached just above her knees, and a black crop top that barley covered her cleavage. Her purple hair was kept in a messy and spiky ponytail. As she spotted the duo of Uzumaki, the woman's face lit up and she smiled while calling out, "It took you two long enough! I was getting antsy over here! Nothing to scare or maim but these maggots!" while pointing at the children staring at her in panic.
Upon reaching the woman, the eldest Uzumaki had a clear deadpan on his face while the youngest was laughing slightly. "Anko, you know that these children are immune from traumatization. Why not just get the anbu in the bushes? I'm sure they'd be more fun." He suggested.
"You know they always run away from me as soon as I move towards them." The snake mistress groaned.
"And has that ever stopped you before?" the blonde boy grinned.
"This is why you're my favorite gnome, gaki." Said woman smirked back.
"I AM NOT SHORT!" the whiskered blonde roared.
"Brat! Don't you have something to be doing? Like an Exam or something?" the elder Uzumaki deadpanned again.
"OH crap! Later Yuudai-nisan, Anko-neechan!" The blonde yelled as he headed into the building.
Upon entering the building, Naruto slowed down as he turned the corner to his classroom. He walked into the mostly full room and noted with glee that he was still five minutes early. He walked to the row that housed his closest friends from the academy, Uchiha Sasuke and Nara Shikamaru. He smirked as he saw the hordes of fan girls already assembling in the tables around the trio's table. He always laughed at the fact that once his family came to town, his class ranking had shot to match Sasuke's, even with said asshat's family trying to stage a coup.
A mess that had been, with nearly half of that clan being imprisoned or killed by his elder sibling. It was still a noted oddity that Uchiha Itatchi seemed to have snapped and only killed those that had threatened the safety of Konoha and left those opposed to the coup and the children who weren't aware of the dirty intentions. The clan that once ruled Konoha had suffered greatly, but was farm from decimated. Besides the heir, several other members of his clan were in the academy with them. The most noted of which was his cousin Uchiha Akuna.
Next to the child with a chicken butt upon his head were the leaders of his FanGirl™ squad; Haruno Sakura and Yamanaka Ino. Said two females were having a heated debate upon which of the two actually deserved the quiet boys love. The blonde girl waved to Naruto as he walked past her towards his seat, and said Uzumaki responded with a smile to his longtime female friend. Taking his normal seat between the Uchiha and Nara, the blonde boy settled in for the show that was sure to begin once the fangirl lust boiled to a head. A scary thought considering that all of them were only twelve.
After another twenty minutes, during which an all-out brawl between the girls started and ended, the instructors for their class made their arrival. Umino Iruka and his assistant Mizuki made their way to their respective desks, with Iruka having a noticeable twitch forming on his face as he looked upon the chaos that was over in the main forum of the room.
"Class." The man tried.
Still the talking continued with no one paying him any mind; not even the students that normally ostracize themselves from the social action.
"Class!" Iruka yelled this time, still to no avail. He only took solace in the fact that several members of the class had in fact heard him and even started to pay attention; those few being said social undesirables and the heirs to several clans like the Nara, Aburame, Uzumaki, Hyuuga, and Uchiha.
"SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP!" The man finally lost his calm and shouted at the class with his big head jutsu.
Almost immediately the entire class quieted and took their seats, with the two formerly fighting girls sitting together directly behind the object of their fixation and next to the Hyuuga heiress.
Iruka looked at his class, at the kids he had the pleasure of teaching since they were small. He felt pride in knowing that this group had one of the highest grade averages that the academy had seen in years. Even with that Inuzuka boy being the deadlast.
"Alright guys. Today is one of the last days you are all going to be together, the last tests you will take as students of Konohagakure's Shinobi Academy! Are you ready? Though most of the grades have been tallied for the last seven years, these last tests are extremely important." The man paused. "These last tests will determine your final class ranking, your team assignments, and even the fate of your career." He ended seriously, letting the implications of these last tests sink in.
The reaction to his speech varied as he spoke. The civilian kids seemed to be filled with nervousness near the beginning which soon changed into a fear of failing. The shinobi born were more confident and slowly bled into a state of nerves. The similarity though was that as soon as Iruka had finished speaking, all the children gained a look of determination. With a smile, Iruka motioned the kids outside
"First we are going to test your aim." Iruka started as the class made its way outside to one of the many training fields. This one was fashioned with multiple targets with their vitals outlined in multiple rings detailing their point values. "Line up by your surnames! We don't have all day so hurry up!" Iruka yelled to the large group of children.
As the minors hurled their sharp metal objects of death at the targets, Iruka walked down the line with Mizuki to take the scores of his students down.
"Quite the aim some of them have, eh Mizuki?" Iruka started as he marked down the fourth perfect score in a row.
"You have beaten the basics into them, Iruka. It does make sense that they can at least hit the things." Said man responded airily.
As the instructors made their ways around, the students were having their own….constructive criticism.
"Come on, useless. Hit the damn target why don't you." A girl with red triangles on her cheeks growled at the boy standing next to her. This boy also had the same markings as the girl, and they also both had what appeared to be puppies sitting in the hood of their respective coats. The boy growled back at the girl as he once again missed the target.
"Shut up, Ashi!" the boy grit out.
"tch." The girl grunted. "And you got your hound before me?"
"Because I am better at combat than you!" the boy shouted.
"Yet you can't hit a damn target!" the girl shouted back after flinging the last of her kunai, getting a 9 out of 10.
"How often do thrown objects determine a fight?" he shouted and shoved his forehead against the girls.
"About as often as your mouth shuts!" she roared back.
Further down the line, a similar familial reaction was occurring with the two Uchiha clansmen.
"How much more useless can you be? Missing a target? What would your father have said?" Uchiha Akuna spoke towards her clan's heir as he missed one of the vital points of the target, keeping him from getting a perfect score.
"Nothing, because the man was a traitor." Sasuke grunted towards the girl, knowing full well that she was trying to get a rise out of him. The girl had been doing that for years, ever since Shisui died.
"And you are nothing but the spawn of traitors!" The girl growled at the boy, a glare of hate towards the male leaving her oculars as she scored a perfect on her throwing assessment.
"Look. I have told you a dozen times at least by this point," The assaulted boy glared at his clan mate, having enough of her spite, "I don't care what Itatchi did, I don't care what my father did. I am not either of them, and I am not some emo that you seem to be. It is not my fault that your entire portion of the family were going through with the coup. They are the traitors. Not me. Now leave me alone. You're worse than half these fan girls." He ranted at the girl that had been a pain in his ass for years.
"Whatever, waste." She growled one last time before heading off to the waiting area.
"Well wasn't that just lovely? I love family!" The cheerful blonde smirked from his other side.
"Ignore her, Dobe, that's what I intend to do." The Uchiha sighed.
"Oh don't be like that," the blonde said as Iruka walked by to get his perfect score, "Sure she's a pain in the ass, but at least she isn't trying to kill you every day anymore."
"Dobe, that was at least somewhat entertaining. Now she's only being annoying." The boy grunted as Iruka wrote down that he had only missed one of the targets vitals.
"At least she won't be on the same team as you, her grades in the academy were shit near the coup remember? And she isn't the dead last, so you have nothing to worry about." The blonde boy joked with his friend as the duo walked over to where they saw Shikamaru.
"Well what did you guys get?" The lazy boy asked after a few minutes of peaceful silence as the remainder of the students finished off their examinations.
"I got a perfect." The blonde on sighed happily.
"I don't want to say." The Uchiha grimaced.
"He means he missed one then Akuna decided to be a bitch." Naruto responded.
"When isn't that troublesome girl a bitch? She has quite the vendetta for our chicken butt friend here." The boy laughed humorlessly.
"Can it both of you." The boy of the chicken variety growled.
Before Naruto got a chance to get snarky, Iruka spoke up again, "Now that we have that done, I believe it is time for the Taijutsu portion of the exam. Let's head to the rings." With that, the scarred man led the group of children to the area of the training field that had four rings set up for the stated purpose. The kids broke off into groups as their names were called and began to fight for their grades. Oh how Iruka loved his job some days; nothing beat watching midgets beat the crap out of each other
With Anko and Yuudai
"I still say the circlet is one of the most feminine things I have ever seen." Anko chuckled as the duo walked away from the academy.
"You know damn well I wouldn't wear the thing out of combat if Tsunade didn't force me. The woman is so forceful on the whole thing, it's like she doesn't get I'm grown now." The man grumbled.
"We are barley 24…." The snake mistress sweatdropped.
"GROWN!"
"…anyways, why did the counsel decide to have a meeting today? I thought that we were having the genin team selection meeting with the old guy later today… He usually doesn't set two long meetings up back to back." Anko tried to change the subject.
"Ugh, don't remind me of those stupid genin meetings. I got roped into taking a team this year so Kurenai could take on some long term mission. We have to have this meeting because the reconstruction was stopped." The man sighed.
"Again?" Anko asked incredulously.
"Yea, again. Apparently Onoik doesn't like the idea of us having anything but ruins. I think I might need to go and "speak" with the man." The redhead growled.
"Maybe he'll take you seriously now? I mean, you look way scarier without the dress and mostly grey hair." Anko snickered.
"It was a robe and you know it! And I'll have you know that neither Tsunade nor I could explain my hair changing more similar to its original form!" The redhead shouted at the now laughing woman.
"Sure, Yuudai-chan"
"ANYWAYS! I think the clan should just stay here for the time being. Let the next clan head think about rebuilding. We have enough money and treasures hidden away that they can easily start up the village again in a few years. It wouldn't be that hard. Maybe I can even pick a damn successor. Because let me tell you, paperwork is a bitch. I am so glad I only have clan head duties now, soooo much less paperwork. And being a kage sucks. Everyone wants to kill you. It hurts my feelings." He moaned at the end childish.
"You have feelings?"
"Fuck off Anko!"
As the two bantered, the walked through the village towards the Hokage tower and then the Council chambers. The two then went on to talk about how much had changed in the last eight years. They both were Elite Jonin now, and Anko was the second in command of Konoha T&I, with Yuudai being the clan head for the Uzumaki and taking over the Anbu training program when it came to the sealing arts. The Uchiha became much more helpful ever since Mikoto took over once her traitorous husband was executed, actually getting the military police force back into a respected institution. Not to mention the help they gave once the Hyuuga Heiress was almost kidnapped. That was a clusterfuck. They killed the diplomat that had tried to steal the girl, and when the fourth Raikage demanded the head of Hiashi, the Uzumaki and Uchiha clan had marched to Kumogakure and basically called the man on his shit. If it weren't for the fact that nearly everyone in the village was already tagged by a deadly seal and the two jinchuriki were already captured, a war would have surely started. That had solidified the position of the Uchiha clan as a loyal clan. They even had the newly minted chunin Yuhi Kurenai train the heiress to defend herself.
The two would have continued their conversation if it were not for the fact that they had arrived at the chambers. Anko was coming due to the fact she needed to stand in for Ibiki, and the ability to subtly tease Yuudai without him being able to retaliate. As the two entered into the room they saw several clan heads, along with the elected civilian councilors, the two Sanin, Yokiko Uzuki (Who had since become the jonin commander to Konoha), the two elders Koharu and Humora, and even Donzo was there. As the two powerful shinobi took their rightful seats, Hiruzen Sarutobi walked into the room. As he sat down, much of the speaking in the room ended.
"Good morning everyone. I trust you all had no problems getting here this morning?" the aged Kage asked politely. Ever since the civilians had been removed for the most part, the council had been much more pleasant than it used to be. After a resounding thank you, the Kami no Shinobi began the meeting.
"We are here to speak about the apparent halt in progress in the reconstruction efforts for Uzushio. It appears that the new Jinchuriki for the gobi decided to level the near complete village. If Uzumaki-dono would please inform us of the new plan for his clan and its retainers?" Hiruzen started off.
"Nearly all of the housing and retail buildings have been destroyed. Atop of that, many refuse to come and aid in the reconstruction. At this point, Hokage-sama, it has been eight years. My elders and I have spoken and we would like to petition for permanent residency in Konoha." Yuudai spoke, getting many shocked looks from the council and even a widened eye from Donzo.
"Yuudai-san, would it not make sense to continue the rebuilding? It is not like you do not have the funds to start again?" Yamanaka Inoichi questioned the former kage.
"No, it would only lead to Iwagakure attacking the site again. This is the third time such a thing has happened and I am near positive that it will happen again." The man sighed.
"Does this mean you and your pack have no desire to reclaim your homeland?" Inuzuka Tsume asked in confusion.
"Not at all. We just see that for the next few years, it would not be effective to try and rebuild. We have several dozen shinobi guarding the smaller settlements surrounding the former village, but we have decided to not continue building until we are sure that enemies will stop hindering the progress." Yuudai responded a bit annoyed that he had to constantly defend himself.
"What of the rest of your country? If I am not mistaken, is Tenmei-sama not still the Diamyo of Uzu no Kuni?" Koharu asked.
"Actually, I thought you were all aware that we had given over the Daimyo position to a lesser clan member until we decide to retake Uzu. I could have sworn you were all aware of this…"
"I believe we may have been at the last Chunin Exams during that meeting, Koharu." Elder Himura spoke up.
"What of your position within the ranks? You have been a major boon to our hospital, and Anbu programs. If I am not mistaken you are classified as an Elite Jonin, yet you have not been on a mission in some years." Danzo quipped.
"Actually Donzo, Yuudai here is going to be takin on a genin team from the most recent graduation class." Jiraiya piped up.
"He's going to murder those kids." Tsunade burst out laughing, knowing how intense Yuudai tended to be in his teaching methods.
"If it makes you feel better Danzo, I'll start taking more missions once the brats finish." Yuudai added.
After a moment of contemplation, Danzo nodded. "That is satisfactory."
"Speaking of the teams, I think it might be a good time to inform you all of the types of teams that we have put together from the grades we have been given and the chosen teachers." Hiruzen added in a thoughtful tone.
"Types of teams? What do you mean, Hokage-sama? Teams are nearly always based upon academy grades for rookie genin." The civilian elected member spoke up, seeing that this might be of some merit due to the fact that many civilian children were in the academy.
"Certainly, that was the case since the end of the third war, but before that we actually had teams set up based upon types of jobs. Such teams consist of tracking or ninjutsu or interrogation or even down to things like reconnaissance or medics." Tsunade pointed out.
"An interesting idea," mused Shikaku, who remembered back in the day when he and his team were the assault specialists, "what types of teams have you given thought into?"
"Based upon our results we have at most 10 teams that are going to make it into the genin selection tests given by their jonin sensei. We have two teams that we would have focus on genjutsu, a T&I team, a tracking assault combination, a recon and tracking team, and several ninjutsu focused teams. Along with a few other miscellaneous teams." Hiruzen informed the rest of the council.
"Are you sure this is wise, Hokage-sama? Those were the training methods back in the days of near constant war." Akimichi Choza questioned.
"I believe that Hokage-sama is correct in the matter," Danzo spoke, surprising many that he would support the Hokage, "it is a great way to strengthen our ninja as a whole."
There was something seriously wrong with the fact that for the first time in nearly a decade Danzo spoke in agreement with Hiruzen.
"While this does seem rather logical, the final teams have not been set have they?" Aburame Shibi asked Hokage.
With a sigh, the aged kage realized this meeting was far from over.
Back at the Academy:
"Ugh!" grunted Yamanaka Ino as she deflected another blow from a still extremely pissed off Akuna. "What is your problem! What did I do to cause you to go psycho bitch on me!" He panted as she struck the brunette in the chest.
With a glare, the dark haired girl struck the blonde in the side of her face, unbalancing her. The blonde immediately righted herself and grunted in frustration before landing a solid kick to Akuna's stomach, causing the Uchiha to buckle over, and the blonde girl to rest her foot against the back of her neck, showing that she could kill or knock the girl out if she so decided. Iruka called the match and the blonde walked off, flipping her hair over her shoulder. The brunette growled as she started to form hand seals. Just as she got to the last one, a firm hand grasped her shoulder, being sure to apply as much pressure as she could onto the small girl's pressure point. The girl looked up to see a woman with long red hair and a small purple diamond on her head.
"Why, my dear, my eyes must be playing tricks on me." The woman said lightly, with a smile on her face. "Because it almost looked as if you were going to be a spoiled brat at fire off a jutsu towards a comrade outside of a spar. And no Konoha ninja would ever do that." The woman's tone turned sickly sweet as her eyes narrowed, her smile still in place.
"N-no, Temei-sensei. Your eyes were mistaken. I-I was not doing anything of the sort, I was merely stretching." The girl stuttered in fear of one of the most violent teachers the academy had known.
Roughly seven years ago, after the Uzumaki clan had settled into the village, their former leader began to teach at the Konoha Academy, and ever since then, the survival rate of the shinobi had increased greatly. She always claimed it was natural now that they were all taught the basics of most shinobi arts. Secretly, she raved about how the majority of courses in the academy seemed to be history or other useless subjects when it comes to shinobi. Yet, she was also shown to have no problems with corporal punishments. Tenmei had most assuredly earned herself quite the fearful reputation. So much so that even clan heirs and other stuck up children did not cross her often.
"Wonderful! Now why don't you go ahead and continue your exams and hope we do not need this conversation again. And be assured, if we do, there will be no pressure points pressed, just like you will have no shinobi career." The woman released the girl and started walking towards the other two teachers. Akuna noted as the woman left that she wore the basic Konoha jonin outfit with her arms being covered in bandages with intricate black markings that went up into the sleeve. Her long red hair was kept in a ponytail made of nine separate braids that each contained what appeared to be a small blade on the end. What she could actually cut with those, Akuna had no idea. Yet this was Tenmei-sensei, so there must be a reason. And despite her pride, she did not want to find out exactly what those blades could do.
With a sigh she rejoined the group and heard Ino talking to her longtime friend Sakura about the other fights that had happened. Apparently the Inuzuka heir was able to take a victory from the hands of the Akimichi heir. The two running for rookie of the year tied, the Nara Heir was able to take down the Aburame heir, and the Hyuuga heiress destroyed that Inuzuka girl who always was annoying. The last one did not surprise her at all, seeing as Hinata was the Kunoichi of the year by a wide margin. The girl had changed greatly since she was almost kidnapped.
"Alright guys. Let's get to the last part of the graduation test. Time to show me the academy three!" Iruka chuckled darkly at the end. Many paled as they realized that their sensei knew that many in the class could not perform all three of the basic academy jutsu.
"You're so harsh on them, Iruka-kun. Just because this test determines whether or not they slave away in mediocrity or suffer ninjahood doesn't mean that you can't let them hope." The red head spoke in a chiding tone, causing most of the children to gasp at the woman.
"Ah yes, the burden of the academy." Iruka laughed as he started towards the classroom.
Two hours later and Iruka sat in front of the Kami no Shinobi, and gave him the detailed report on who had passes and who had not. The final math had been done not even ten minutes ago, so the children would not find their final rankings out until they returned to the academy in a week. He has made several notes for his leader; personal conflicts, personality quarks, a psych watch recommendation, several of the Uzumaki children having to use a modified clone technique, and lastly his personal team recommendations.
"Iruka-kun, this is a rather strange team arrangement. Two females and a male? What would the purpose of this team be, as you listed several options?" The kage asked his subordinate.
"All three of these kids are brilliant and talented, in all three cases they were number two; the two girls tied for second place and the boy lost rookie of the year by less than one point." Iruka started, as he leaned forward in his chair. "They all have high amounts of chakra control, which is weird given the boy. They also all scored extremely high in the side areas of the shinobi arts. One of the girls was shown to have a good head on her shoulders for genjutsu, and the other has been noted to have bursts of super strength. The boy was the highest scorer in fuinjutsu and ninjutsu." He contemplated.
"Would no other team work for these three? From what it sounds like, you are telling me to make them a T&I team or one that focuses on support roles. You even put in a recommended Jonin name for this team." The old man questioned.
Making a noise of thought, the chunin took a moment to collect his answer. "Well they could all hold their own in other areas. The boy was a genius of ninjutsu and was fairly skilled in taijutsu. Each of the girls is also skilled at taijutsu and other shinobi areas. But I think a combo T&I medic team would serve them best."
With a look of surprise, the aged kage considered what the scarred man had said. "That is a most odd team. I do not remember the last time we had a T&I and medic combination team."
"Sir, several other teams I saw would work as well. Such as the assault team combination or the subterfuge team." Iruka tried to change the subject.
"Ah, yes. I saw those as well. It is rare to have an all-male genin team here in Konoha. We usually have enough females that make it passed the genin exam to assure all teams have one that will eventually be a medic." The aged Kage relented.
"True, but this graduation class is special, Hokage-sama. They are more skilled than any group I have ever encountered this young, at least in times of piece." Iruka intoned.
After another hour of going over the logistics of the graduation, Hiruzen asked his subordinate one final question, "So, Iruka-kun, how many are going to pass the final test given to them by the jonin?"
"Hokage-sama? I would say maybe 50 percent will remain. It's better than the standard 66% fail rate." Iruka responded.
"My, Iruka-kun, that is rather high." Hiruzen returned while taking a puff from his pipe. The old man turned his head and looked out of the window nearby. He thought of the rising tensions with Iwa and Kumo, and the uneasy alliance with Suna. The only sure alliance that they had at the moment was Taki and their strongest ninja aside from a Jinchuriki was only a special jonin. Maybe it was time to check in on Kiri now that they had elected a new kage and their bloodline wars were over.
"Hokage-sama?"
"Spend the next week well, Iruka-kun. I have a feeling that the calm will not last nearly as long as we would hope. I hear the drums of war, Iruka-kun. They are just beginning but they are getting louder." The man spoke after several minutes, turning to look back at the scarred chunin near the end of his speech.
Iruka was at a loss for words, and did the only thing he could think of, and left quickly. As the scarred chunin left, he passed by the procession of jonin and special jonin that would be taking some of the rookies this year. Among the notable jonin and tokujo were big names such as Hatake Kakashi, Sarutobi Asuma, Uzumaki Yuudai, Mitarashi Anko, Inuzuka Hana, and Gekko Hayate. The latter two having just been promoted, and the rest being at least B-ranked threats in most bingo books. The masked jonin was reading his usual porn while in a deep conversation with the redheaded Uzumaki on the logistics of harems, the Sarutobi was laughing at the young Inuzuka as she was assaulted by the busty snake mistress and never once losing the cigarette than hung from his mouth. As the last of the jonin arrived at the Hokage's office, Hiruzen felt it was time to start this meeting, though it was fun to watch people gape at Kakashi being on time for once.
"Welcome, everyone. It is that time of year again; the time for the newly minted genin to embrace the world of shinobi. This year's class is rather talented compared to most." The Hokage began.
Many of the jonin and tokujo stood up straighter as the man began, knowing that their leader was just getting started. Or so they thought.
"Normally I would give a speech about the prime of youth and the will of fire, but the council has been a rather loud bunch today, so I will skip my long speeches and open up the floor to any questions or concerns." The aged man girt out, desperately fighting to stay awake after dull meeting after dull meeting.
"I understand why you summoned the Jonin, Hokage-sama, yet I do not understand the merit of the tokujo(C ) also being in attendance." Hana questioned after a moment.
Many of the others were wondering the same thing, and were glad the feral girl had the courage to ask the question.
"Ah, an excellent question, Hana-chan. You see, I have been told that this year has many prominent kids, so much so that our average fail rate could be detrimental to them. As such, once the teams are announced a week from today, while the jonin-sensei are giving the final genin entrance exam, all the tokujo will be here watching the children with me through the crystal ball. This will allow any child with potential, yet bad luck in teammate selection, the chance to be taken on as an apprentice." Hiruzen explained. Many there nodded at his wisdom, and several others grew the courage to ask questions, which Hiruzen promptly answered. After another hour, Hiruzen decided it was time to tell his jonin the teams they would be commanding.
"So, it has been decided that the following teams are to be made. Hatake Kakashi will be assigned…"

Author's Note:
Hello all! Tis been awhile, has it not? Ah, I know I should have updated earlier, but I was kinda in a drunken stupor. Can you blame me though? I just graduated high school on the Tenth of June, so that entire month was in a party haze, then came the summer travels, and now, finally, I am able to calm down before the college shenanigans begin on the seventeenth of august. WOW! Anyways, enough about shit you don't care about. ON TO THE IMPORTANT PARTS!
A- Look up the Lunar Circlet from Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. That's basically it, but with seals engraved into it
B- Remember, Naruto originally failed the exam twice and passed on his third try, which was everyone else's first try.
C- Tokujo is a short form of Tokubetsu Jonin or special Jonin.
I have most of Chapter 7 done and am just finishing it up and touching up the grammar. So expect it before mid September.
In other new, I am actually somewhat interested with how kishimoto is going to end his series.
REVIEW RESPONSE:
VASHMAN7: STAPH! You're making me blush! Thank you so much! I got this review on a day when i was feeling so down on myself! And dont worry, I promise to not rush again...without good reason. Please bear with me?
Black Flame of Destruction: I actually did not know that, so thank you! SEE THIS IS CONSTRUCTIVE! I will correct that in the future. That is a very detailed description as well... maybe a certain kunoichi will make up a move that is similar to Shushin...
OUTCASTMIKE: Sorry about not having a blow up x) I was thinking about doing a flashback later on showing the council getting what it deserves, because when i tried to have it in the original chapter, it didnt work well and seemed a bit forced, also it was so long it made the majority of the chapter about the meeting instead of on Naruto and the regular characters. Thanks for reviewing and liking the story :)
Guest: I agree, which is why i added it in. I figured that if the fandom widely accepts it, why not add it to a FANfiction. I never thought she was a hoe and i go into that late on. Thank you!
OBJECTION: Thank you Phoenix Wright? I believe that the summary said it was fairly OC heavy... Sorry if you cant read? But i have seen several fics that are very successful with OCs
Bankai777: Yes. Yes he will. And it will be awkward. Very several dozen reasons. I must admit i cackled when this appeared in my email.
Vandetta: Thank you! I am trying! I always saw these amazing stories and like most people i had an idea for a twist on the naruto universe! Im glad other people like my ideas. :) I hope you keep up with the fic :)
IZZYRAWR: Yes, he will be good at fuinjutsu...not the best of course, but proficient... well after several beatings. I LOOK FOWARD TO AMAZING REVIEWS LIKE YOURS!
Thank you to everyone that reviewed, i really, really appreciate it :) I know i am bad at the whole updating thing, but i am trying to correct it. Thank you for bearing with me!
Lastly, I hope this chapter was long enough to make up for my months of absence!
PLEASE REVIEW, WORSHIP THE LOG, LISTEN TO ADTR AND ALL TIME LOW, STAY AWAY FROM HARDCORE DRUGS AND MAGICAL FANGIRLS, then review again because I love you and I need them reviews!
