Sitting with her back to the chain-link fence of the tennis court, Kagome was checking over the plans of the playground that she was working on with her father.

"Kagome-Chan," Tomoka sighed heavily in exasperation, shaking her head as if to add definition to just how maddening her friend was to her.

"Hm?" Kagome looked up and smiled before rolling up the park plan and standing. "Sorry, what's up?"

"How can you not be enraptured in Ryoma-Kun and Fuji-Sempai!? Look at them!"

Kagome glanced past the fence and frowned, "hey, who's that guy next to the one with the clipboard?"

"...you mean...Tezuka-Sempai?"

Kagome shrugged, "maybe? I think I saw him yesterday."

"What!? When!"

Kagome jumped and turned as Tomoko took her shoulders in her hands in her excitement, shaking her as she demanded answers from her. "T-Tomoko-Chan! Stooooop!"

"Eh!? Ah, sorry Kagome-Chan!" Tomoko let Kagome go and watched the girl drop to her knees.

"That made me feel nauseous. To answer your question, I saw him at the park."

"What? You mean I missed him!?"

"I guess so," standing back up, Kagome wiped her knees of the dirt and glanced back towards the guy she was sure she'd seen the other day. He was looking back towards her and Tomoko now. To her surprise, she met his eyes. The look in which was stern and mysterious. She couldn't tell at all what he was thinking, and somehow, she found herself curious about what might be going on in his head. It looked like it might be interesting to delve into.

Bzz Bzzz

Kagome jumped in surprise and blushed when she realized that he'd seen her shock of surprise. 'What the heck, why does it even matter!?' She pulled her phone out and walked away from the fence and her friend. '...order delay?! Which parts?' She flipped her phone and dialed the number for the parts transportation facility. Listening to the ringing, she walked away from the courts.

"Tokyo Recreation and Construction Parts Facility, Nasaki speaking."

"Nasaki-San, you have a few orders for the Central Nagoya Park that's under construction and renovation, which one was delayed? We are on a time crunch as it is, that park has a deadline of two weeks."

"Is this Higurashi-Chan!? Wah, it's been awhile! Oh, let me take a look, do you have the order number of the delayed parts?"

Kagome swiped up on her cellphone, "yeah, 00-6222-X902X..." she put the phone back to her ear.

"Looks like it's the benches."

Kagome sighed, cocking her hip as she put a hand on it, "I guess that's fine. The benches can be installed last. When will they be there, do you know?"

"Looks like they'll arrive on Friday, so...two days."

"That's not horrible. Alright, thanks Nasaki-San. Give my best to your wife and kids, will you?"

"Of course, tell your dad I said we should get together for drinks. Have him call me sometime!"

"Yes sir, I will. Until next time then, have a good one."

"You too!"

Kagome flipped her phone shut and sighed, "if it's the benches, there won't be a problem."

"You done?"

Kagome turned and blushed, "sorry Tomoko-Chan."

The girl raised her hands in defeat, "nothing to be done, I guess. I'll have to break you of these bad habits one at a time!"

"Bad habits?"

"Yes! Working as a student! Skipping classes! Running around with dirt on your clothes! Not acting cute at all! These are bad habits, Kagome-Chan!"

She frowned, glancing at her uniform as a shadow fell over the two of them. She looked to see someone in the tennis uniform looking curiously at her before turning to Tomoko.

"Saa, Tomoko-San, aren't you being a bit harsh?"

"No, I've been her friend since we were toddlers! I'm the only one allowed to be this brutally honest with her!"

Kagome sighed, "you can be honest later, I'm going to head out for the day." She grinned before running off without giving Tomoko a chance to scold her or yell at her. She could catch the bus to the hardware store if she left now.

Rounding a corner with her bag, she smiled as she saw the bus in the distance rolling to a stop at the bus stop. She ran up the steps and smiled as she ran her bus card through the swipe.

"Skipping school, Kagome-San?"

She grinned, "I'll hear about it later, but I want to get back to my dad. First though, I need to stop by the hardware store."

"Well, I'm heading that way," the driver laughed, "take a seat and I'll get you where you're going."

Taking a seat, she watched the scenery slip past her. Her eyes catching her reflection, she brought her hand up to her hair and frowned a bit. 'I guess...I don't know how to act cute...do I.'

Tezuka stepped onto the bus and glanced back to the end of the bus. He didn't think she'd be there; he'd seen her run out of school earlier. Well before classes had ended, in fact. Taking hold of a metal ring, he held onto it while the bus was moving.

"NAGOYA, HARADA DISTRICT"

He felt the bus come to a slow stop before releasing the ring and climbing from the bus. He fixed his bag over his shoulder before walking home. He couldn't help but walk the familiar path he'd taken the day before. As he came to stop at the overlook of the park, he placed his bag down and watched curiously as more men were working the site then there were yesterday. The girl, Kagome, had a hard hat on and was in the mix of the jungle gym, with three other guys around her. Holding pieces up and drilling as she bolted and welded pieces together. The protective eyewear and overalls changed her appearance completely from the schoolgirl he'd seen at school earlier that day.

Actually, he hadn't been certain if that was even her. It wasn't until she called whoever she did that he was absolutely positive that it was her. When he met her eyes, when he saw her blush, he'd thought she must have been someone else. No, she just had different sides to her. Like everyone else did. He couldn't even comprehend his curiosity of the girl. She was that Tomoko girls' friend, what did that really say about her? That she had the patience of a saint? Or she was secretly just as loud and obnoxious?

"Ah! Miroku, behind you!"

Miroku turned and ducked in time to avoid a bar swinging down towards him. He laughed a bit as he took the bar that was screwed only on the one side and brought it up to fasten it the rest of the way.

"What the hell are you doing?! We already have one employee in the hospital. Want to join him?"

Miroku blushed, "you know, being told off by you never feels good, Kagome. Maybe if you wore your schoolgirl outfit―ACK!"

Kagome withdrew her tightly closed fist from the stomach of the now hunched over Miroku. "On your knees,"

Miroku dropped to his knees, not necessarily on purpose, but because of the aching pain in his gut.

"Now beg for your life!"

"R-really, you're not a girl, are you." He groaned in pain.

"Tch, if being a girl is defined by skimpy skirts and tight dresses, then I guess I'm not." She turned her back to Miroku before returning to the jungle gym.

Tezuka watched the guy on his knees stand up with a chuckle before he too continued with his task at hand.

"Hey, you!"

Tezuka raised a brow and turned to see Kagome looking up at him. "Hai?"

"you were here yesterday; did you need something? You didn't forget something here, did you?"

In hindsight, he couldn't possibly understand what had possessed him to say what he did. However, when he looked her over, the baggy overalls, one leg rolled up, the stripped yellow and navy long sleeve shirt worn beneath it, and her hair pulled into a messy lopsided ponytail. He couldn't stop the words from slipping past his lips.

"I'm just admiring the view,"

Yes, in hindsight, maybe he could have said something different, but the pink flush across her cheeks had surely been worth it, right?
