Chapter 6
"A kid?" Night muttered as he stared at the boy, with brown hair that could be identified as part of the elementary division of the academy from his uniform, that had fallen over after he'd opened the door. The club had to go with an Arabian theme, and the younger Kitoru didn't expect a grade schooler to be the first at the door. He did scowl though at the reason the boy had apparently wanted to come. "The kid is going to go about it the wrong way."
Grim just chuckled as he whispered, "Tamaki is so gullible."
As the grade school student rose, he asked as Tamaki did as he usually did, "Are you the king of this club?"
The club president practically preened at the words as he beckoned the boy over, "My boy, what did you call me?"
"You are, aren't you?"
After Tamaki proudly stated he was the king, the boy demanded to be the king's apprentice. Needless to say, the club's "king" was swayed instantly by the kid's words and accepted.
"He really is gullible, Grim." Night agreed, shaking his head.
The boy, Shiro, wasn't too happy with his situation as he watched his mentor praise- what he thought was- a fish faced girl and openly said it, "She doesn't look like some princess to me, more like a fish."
The girl was appalled by the insult, and Tamaki's attempts at trying to cheer her up weren't succeeding, in fact, it made it worse. "Please don't mind him, my mermaid princess. Children can't help but say the truth."
"Tamaki, you jerk!" The teary eyed girl yelled as she ran out.
"Wait, my mermaid princess!" The blond called to try to stop her, but she was already gone and he turned to his apprentice, upset. "Shiro, you don't say harsh things to a lady."
"Lady or not, she looked like a fish." Shiro stated, earning laughs from the Hitachiin twins.
"What a cute apprentice you've got there, Boss!"
"Hikaru, do you wish you had a little brother like Shiro?"
Instantly the two went into their usual act as they held each other close, gaining squeals from their regulars.
Shiro was horrified by the sight, "They're homo's! And they're brothers! That totally makes it incectuous!"
"I think you meant to say incestuous." Tamaki corrected.
Suddenly Honey jumped onto his back and asked as energetically as ever, "Shiro-chan, would you like some cake with me? Grim-chan made chocolate, strawberry, and green tea! He makes yummy cakes!"
Shiro scowled when he saw the boy that was about the same height as him wearing the high school uniform, "Why are you trying to be cool with the high school uniform, you're the same age as me."
That made Honey cry.
"Is something wrong, Mitsukuni?"
"You can have this slice with extra strawberries, Honey..."
"It happens, don't let it get you down."
Honey quickly clung to Mori, who paid no mind while Grim offered cake and Night patted the smallest third year's head in sympathy.
"That isn't fair! A kid like you shouldn't have cool friends like them!" The elementary kid yelled, not understanding the fact that the four were in the same grade.
Night noticed a bandage wrapped around his brother's finger after he'd given Honey the cake, "Grim, did you cut yourself?" He asked as he held Grim's hand.
The older Kitoru nodded, "I nicked it while I was cutting the cake... It's fine, Night..."
"Just tell me when you get hurt. I want to protect you, Grim."
The Kitoru twin's regulars proceeded to cheer, "Kyaah!"
"It's the prince and knight brothers!"
"Grim and Night are so cute together!"
"I'm so happy that we have two versions of twin brotherly love!"
While it wasn't a bad a reaction as it was with Hikaru and Kaoru, Shiro still acted just as appalled, "No way these guys too, these guys are twins?! They don't look the same, and they both have weird eyes!"
Night scowled and crouched down to the boy, "Grim may like kids, but don't get on my bad side, kid. I know why you're here, and it's not to be a long term apprentice."
Before Shiro could get any more scared of the younger Kitoru, Grim patted Night's head, "Night, no picking on kids... even if they deserve it..."
"Fine Grim."
Backing away, the apprentice bumped into Haruhi. "Are you alright?" The cross-dressing girl asked after she made sure the tray in her hands wouldn't fall. "I know, it's kind of hard getting used to the weirdo's around here. It took a while to get used to the craziness, so don't freak out. I'm sure you'll get used to it."
Shiro definitely figured out that Haruhi wasn't matching the uniform and stared as he asked, "Are you a cross-dresser?"
Tamaki and the Hitachiin twins instantly went into action, trying to steer the elementary boy from finding out Haruhi was indeed a girl.
"Why don't you let Shiro take care of the tea set, it's part of his training as an apprentice anyway. You're too macho for tea sets."
The female host just sighed at the three's over reaction and handed Shiro the tray, "Now be careful with it, it's pretty heavy."
Instantly the boy let go of it as it fell in a crash only porcelain and fine china would make as it broke. Over to the Kitoru brothers, who saw this, Grim had a rare expression of horror as he held his hands to the sides of his face, "My favorite tea set that I brought from home!"
Kyoya quickly took action, "I will have you reembursed and send you a new tea set, as well as adding the expenses to Haruhi's debt." Was this new apprentice trying to risk his business relations along with draining customers from Tamaki?
"It's not my fault I dropped it. It's your fault, because you made me take it in the first place." Shiro said just like any child would.
"Say what?"
"Haruhi, that's another 100,000 yen." The vice-president stated aloud as he took notes at what he was seeing, "Grim gets upset when others breaks his belongings, and quickly begins hating the person who breaks it."
"That little brat, rich or not, someone should teach him manners. Why did I ever say he was cute? He can't even say sorry. Little two-faced selfish..." The older Kitoru muttered under his breath as he and Night carefully picked up the larger pieces of glass from his destroyed set while Honey came back with a broom and dustpan, and Mori patted his upset classmate on the head.
"Hey you should make the cross-dresser do all your stupid chores!" The youngest boy yelled, annoyed. "I'm not here to carry tea sets, I'm here to learn how to make women happy!"
Tamaki, himself, was getting annoyed with Shiro's behavior. "You're not going to get anywhere with that attitude. And I am not going to let you disrespect Haruhi, so put this brat in isolation!"
Suddenly a cage came down and trapped Shiro, "What's going on?! Let me out of this! This isn't how you treat your loyal apprentice!"
The club president just sat down and took a sip of tea, "I made you my apprentice because I thought you were serious about becoming a host. But I guess I was wrong."
"I am serious! Totally serious!" The young brunette protested, "I want you to teach me how to make a woman happy." Shiro went down to his knees as he begged, "I'm going to run out of time, please won't you teach me?"
The boy continued by calling Tamaki a genius and the king, magic words to sway the blond any day.
"So you'll teach me how to make any woman happy?"
"Of course, that is the true purpose of being a host." The purpled eyed blond added, "If this is what you really want Shiro, you'll have to figure out how to work with the material you already have."
"What does that mean?" Shiro asked, not having a clue on what Tamaki had meant.
Kyoya was the one to explain, "You see, here at the Ouran Host Club, our policy is to use our individual personality traits to meet the needs of our guests. For example, Tamaki, the princely type. There's the strong silent type, Mori-sempai, the boy lolita type, Honey-sempai, the little devil type, Hikaru and Kaoru, and the cool type, myself. It's all about variety. And now our group is complete with three new additions of the random and protective types, Grim and Night, and the natural, Haruhi. It seems right now, we have the perfect blend of characteristics, so it's going to be difficult to find a new type for Shiro."
The elementary boy definitely didn't know what he had brought himself into as the host discussed that matter amongst themselves.
"If you go by his age, he should be the boy lolita type."
"But Honey already has that covered."
The third year was crying at the implications, "Does that mean that he's going to replace me?"
"Definitely not." Night answered.
Grim nodded, "You're much better than Shiro... Shiro is bad..."
"You've got it, Grim-chan!" Renge's voice called out from beneath them as she rose up from the hidden platform. "As expected from my friend to know something about character types! Since Honey-sempai is the cute, sweet shota-type, Shiro will take the role of the naughty type!"
Grim just stiffly turned away while Night patted his brother on the shoulder. Just the same with Haruhi, Renge thought that the older Kitoru was a girl, no matter how many times he'd stated otherwise. Fortunately, no one ever brought the topic up.
Shiro had enough, "I've had enough of you people! This was just a waste of time, none of this is going to make her happy!" He yelled before running out of the room.
As the self assigned manager left, upset that the boy was so ungrateful, Haruhi figured something out, "I think he's doing all this for a girl. Why else would he say that he was running out of time, and that it wouldn't make her happy?"
"How did we let them talk us into this?" Haruhi whispered.
"The shame..." Grim sulked.
"It'll be okay, Haru-chan. Grim-chan." Honey encouraged, revealing that he was wearing the elementary uniform, "Getting in was really easy, with this uniform, I really look like I'm in elementary school."
"I understand you'd be wearing the uniform since we're sneaking into an elementary school, and you totally fit in sempai." Haruhi commented, revealing she was in a middle school uniform and a wig to have long hair. "What I don't understand is why I have they made me wear the middle school uniform."
"At least you're both your actual genders. I don't understand why I have to wear the female high school uniform." Grim frowned with a blush on his face, indeed in the girls' uniform, not at all liking the frills and petticoats under the skirt and trying to pull it down as much as possible. "This is humiliating, I can't believe Night agreed to this. I hate the color yellow..."
Meanwhile the other hosts were enjoying the three's torment as Tamaki swooned over how adorable Haruhi looked.
Honey guided the two into Shiro's classroom discreetly, "This used to be my class too!"
"It doesn't look like anyone has class here today." Haruhi commented before the three jumped as they heard footsteps and hid under the desks.
When it was only the other hosts, Haruhi didn't like the fact that the three didn't need to wear disguises, but put it aside as the host club members learned that Shiro was in the classical musical club from a class picture as he smiled while he sat behind a grand piano with a brown haired girl sat next to him.
"So that's the girl the brat's trying to impress, then the solution's not too hard." Night commented before glancing over to his frowning brother. The younger Kitoru had to hold back a laugh, "I-It looks good on you, Grim."
The group headed off the elementary music room, where not long after Tamaki took Shiro before they headed back to Music Room 3.
It wasn't long after Tamaki's speech that he began giving the young boy piano lessons so he could give the girl one last recital together over the week.
Once it was finally over, Night just sighed as he watched the elementary boy be surrounded by Tamaki's regulars. "This is why you don't train kids to be hosts, now we have a mini Tamaki to deal with."
"There'll at least be a future for the host club..." Grim added with a light jingle of the bell around his neck. "It'll be fun to watch."
The younger Kitoru glanced at his older brother, who was happily rubbing the cup of the tea set that Kyoya had replaced that was nearly identical to the one Shiro broke, and sighed as he patted his brother's head, "So long as you're content, Grim."
A/N: And that's chapter 6! I can't say whether I like Shiro or not, but it was certainly fun to write! Grim and Night really are starting to get used to being in the Host Club.
Also after a discussion with my co-author, we decided we would give our Kitoru twins a pairing. It'll be:
Kyoya/Grim
Nekozawa/Night
The next chapter will be "Jungle Pool SOS"! Let's see how that will go with the Kitoru twins!
Til next time!
