When Archie awoke, he had the most terrible ache in his ribcage and a pain in his back. The beating he took from Stiglitz and Wicki was really hitting him and he felt slightly dizzy once he attempted to get up. His watch told him it was half past six. If he hadn't heard the distinct laughter of his English sweetheart, he would have stayed in his sleeping bag for another five minutes before sliding out of it. The first thing he saw when he left his tent was a bloody fire, yet again. He cursed at Aldo in his head as he put on his boots and slung his satchel over his right shoulder.

Across from the fire was Molly, sitting beside a basterd whose name he thought had no importance. However, she was laughing with the man and their fraternization was a little too close for his liking. The man spotted him coming before Molly could have and his grin widened.

"I swear you've got a gift, Ulmer."

"Well, I can't say it was all me.."

"What wasn't all you?"

Archie stood in front of the two looking down upon them like some nosy parent. Molly's gaze towards him was colder than ice itself and filled with indifference. He was going to have quite the apologizing to do.

"We were just discussing Omar's talent in the culinary arts. You know he made that stew last night?"

"Is that so?"

Omar looked up at Hicox and a sly smile came across his face. A smile that Archie was not particularly fond of.

"Yeah, I was telling lieutenant Heathcliff how I had an understanding with last night's rabbit."

Archie chuckled lightly and gave Molly a look as if to say "Is he serious?" Omar saw this and crossed his arms.

"How could you have an understanding with a rabbit?"

"Easy, you make it feel welcomed, respected. Hold it in your arms and coddle it. A few gentle strokes to the ear and sooner or later-"

Omar got up and began wiping the dust off of his pants before obviously looking at Molly.

"It'll let you taste it. Anyway, Donowitz is probably looking to get things packed up. I'll catch you later Lieutenant Heathcliff. Hicox."

The Englishman's eyes went wide before falling on Heathcliff. Hicox knew Omar's technique alright. He'd been doing it for twenty-seven years with the same rabbit. His love looked completely content and indifferent to his glare of disapproval. She lifted herself off of the ground and crossed her arms.

"You should go get something to eat, Arch. Stiglitz was the last one with the loaf of bread."

Archie hadn't lowered the intensity of his gaze at Molly. Omar, he could deal with but if she had been talking to Hugo, he would have none of it. Archie leaned over his companion, closing more space between them before looking around and lowering his voice.

"Are you incapable of keeping your legs closed for one evening? This is a mission, Heathcliff, not a time for tricks. Lives depend on this."

Molly's head snapped upwards. He could see that she had taken his words in just as he had spoken them, harshly. She bit her lip slightly before challenging his gaze but like all of their challenges, Archie would always win.

"Go eat something Lieutenant Hicox."

"Do you know how you've just embarrassed me? Is this your plan to ruin my mission? How highly do you think of yourself?"

She looked away from him immediately and upwards. Right then he knew she was feeling guilty. Hicox knew exactly what to say to get her back in his hand. He put a hand on her shoulder and squeezed it slightly, causing her to look at him.

"I only say this because I think highly of you and because I think you should do the same. These men don't understand your importance as much as I do. To them you're just some woman they would like to bed and I believe you so above them and… beside me."

Archie nearly feared he had lost his efficacy with his maneuvers until Molly had him away from camp and backed up against a tree. Never had she reacted to his sweet words so fast, it was almost animalistic. Perhaps the forest has brought out the beast in her, he thought. Her lips eagerly met Archie's and her arms wound around his neck, a hand at the top of his spine. Her chest was pressed up against his so tightly he could feel her heartbeat and every harsh intake of breath she took. He wasted no time closing his eyes and putting an arm around her waist possessively while holding her jaw in his hand.

He ran his tongue along Molly's lower lip to demand entrance into her warm mouth. The moment she opened her mouth wider, he took total advantage by sucking her tongue and nipping at her lips, inciting a moan from her. Hearing her moan made Archie suppress a triumphant groan in his throat.

Her tongue was attempting to fight for dominance by locking with his but Hicox couldn't have that. His hand moved from below her chin to within her messy brown locks. He massaged the base of her head with his palm as his tongue broke free and revisited places in her mouth he had missed while her back arched uncontrollably. He passed his tongue along her front teeth and she gasped his name. She was flushing pink now but not out of embarrassment. Archie could feel the perspiration on his forehead and in her hair as their chests rose and fell quickly.

He grabbed a handful of her curls and abruptly broke the kiss but his lips stayed tantalizingly near. He let out a satisfied groan and rubbed his forehead to hers almost lovingly. His hot breath falling on her lips with every exhale. Her eyes looked from his lips and shut hazily.

"Oh Molly, my Molly."

Watching her, Archie saw her eyes closed, looking completely unguarded and falling apart in his hands. This was how it should've been; how it could have been had she stayed and not pulled away from him. She was his and though he did not open himself up as she did, he was forever hers.

Archie roughly kissed the corner of her mouth and made a trail of passionate kisses along her jaw line, dipping to her collarbone. As he pulled her hair harder, he could feel her hips grinding into his with urgency and his eyes just about rolled to the back of his head in the sweet friction she was causing. His tongue trailed her neck and he sucked at the skin above her throat and he felt her moan before it came from her lips. He could taste the saltiness of the sweat on her skin and he relished it. His hands roamed up her stomach to cup her breast and to palm her upper back, pressing her closer to him. The way her body reacted to him pleased Archie and he knew he couldn't contain himself for much longer.

He could feel Molly's sudden realization of his hardness and felt her pull away slightly but that was another thing Hicox could not allow. The lieutenant pulled his lips away from her and took her hands from around his neck. He moved them onto his chest then downwards to the buckle of his belt, slightly rolling his pelvis forward.

Usually, she would have had his trousers down and his cock in her palm within the second but she merely stood there, staring into his eyes.

"Come on Molls."

He continuously moved his hips against her hands as if to obviously clue her in until she removed them and herself away from him. Archie couldn't be sure just exactly what he had done to set her off but he attempted to regain control by moving towards her.

"Don't step any closer Arch."

The man took her words carefully and sighed loudly. She had moved the hair out of her face and balled her hands into strong fists.

"Molly-"

"This happens every time Archie. Every bloody time and I am absolutely sick of it."

Hicox had really done it this time. He inched forward slightly with his hands reaching for her. He was hoping he would be able to cool the situation but Molly looked enraged.

"What? What happens? Molly don't be daft you know I care-"

"I don't doubt that you care, Archie. It just isn't about me."

She arranged her trousers and her vest appropriately before turning in the direction towards camp.

"You were right Arch, this is an important mission yet it's about you. It has always been about yourself."
