Raoul listened as Christine spoke of The Phantom.

"Yet in his eyes

All the sadness of the world

Those pleading eyes,

That both threaten and adore"

Raoul slowly walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her to try and still her trembling. A few moments later he led her closer to the only light source on the roof.

"No more talk

of darkness," He began to sing softly. As he did, Christine couldn't take it anymore. She turned away from him, but Raoul only continued.

"Forget these

wide-eyed fears.

I'm here,

nothing can harm-"

"Words!

Words! Words! I'm so sick of words!

I get words all day through;

First from him, now from you! Is that all you blighters can do? " Christine exploded. She was fed up with Erik and Raoul. All they ever did was talk. Raoul said he would take her away, but he never did. Then there was Erik. Sweet, sweet Erik. She knew that he was afraid that she would leave him, but he never tried to take her away. She began to walk away from Raoul and continued.

"Don't talk of stars Burning above; If you're in love,

Show me!

Tell me no dreams

Filled with desire. If you're on fire," She suddenly turned, causing Raoul to jump back.

"Show me! Here we are together in the middle of the night!

Don't talk of spring! Just hold me tight!

Anyone who's ever been in love'll tell you that

This is no time for a chat! Haven't your lips

Longed for my touch?" She leaned in close and Raoul tried to kiss her, but she pulled back "Don't say how much, Show me! Show me!

Don't talk of love lasting through time.

Make me no undying vow. Show me now!

Sing me no song! Read me no rhyme!

Don't waste my time, Show me!"

Raoul tried to put his arm around her, but she back up. "Don't talk of June, Don't talk of fall! Don't talk at all! Show me!"

"Never do I ever want to hear another word.

There isn't one I haven't heard!

Here we are together in what ought to be a dream;

Say one more word and I'll scream!

Haven't your arms Hungered for mine?

Please don't "explain," Show me! Show me!

Don't wait until wrinkles and lines

Pop out all over my brow,

Show me now!"

Christine gave an irritated groan and stalked over to the door. "Goodbye, Raoul." She swung the door open angrily and gave him one last scathing look before slamming it behind her. Raoul gaped at the closed door, while Erik wasted no time in heading to the mirror.

I've always thought Christine should grow a backbone and sing this song. The song is from Lerner and Loewe's My Fair Lady. Review!
