YES! I did that on purpose. BUT, the story is not over yet. I am going to stay true to the pairing I put the story as; I was just wanted for a chapter or 2, to let Kyoya win. Because I love him too. I hope I still have readers waiting and no one is too mad. So, here we go. Please don't kill me for having Haruhi choose Kyoya first. They won't even be together that long.
Kyoya stared at Haruhi in shock. She chose him? His heart was racing as her wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her against him. He was actually thankful that Haruhi had wrapped her chest today so there wasn't an inch of distance between the two. He ran his fingers through her hair and gently placed his lips upon hers. It wasn't rushed or as passionate as the kiss Haruhi had greeted him with, but it still felt wonderful to him.
"Are you sure Haruhi? I thought for sure you'd pick Mori-sempai." Haruhi smiled.
"It wasn't exactly my decision. My mom made it for me." He looked at her questioningly but didn't push the matter. He had the girl he cared deeply for in his arms. A cough from behind them made the two jump out of each other's arms.
"Father, I don't believe you've met Haruhi. Haruhi, this is my father, Yoshio Ootori." Haruhi bowed to Yoshio,
"It's nice to meet you sir." Yoshio put an arm on her shoulder and she stood up straight before him.
"Nice to meet you as well, miss Fujioka. I've heard many things about you. Please do come in and join our family for lunch." He gave Haruhi a tight smile. Haruhi looked to Kyoya and he gave a small nod.
"I'd love to then, sir." Kyoya grabbed Haruhi's hand and pulled her into the house giving her a mini tour on the way to the dining room. In the dining room, there were already people seated. Haruhi looked at each person, wondering who each person was to Kyoya.
"Haruhi, this is my family. My mother is at the end. My eldest brother, Yuuichi is next to father. Akito, my other older brother next to him and my sister, Fuyumi and her husband on the other side." Haruhi smiled at each person as she was introduced to them. She bowed again to all of them.
"Nice to meet all of you, I'm Haruhi Fujioka." Kyoya pulled out a chair for Haruhi next to Fuyumi's husband while he went to sit on the other side next to Akito.
"So, Miss Fujioka, are you and Kyoya dating?" Yuuichi stared intensely at Haruhi waiting for an answer.
"Yes, big brother, we are." Kyoya answered for her. Yuuichi fixed his stare onto his youngest brother.
"I wasn't aware your name was Miss Fujioka." Fuyumi rolled her eyes and her big brother.
"Oh, leave him alone Yuuichi. Just be thankful he finally has a girlfriend. And, she's cute too." Haruhi blushed and mumbled a thank you to Fuyumi.
"You've made me proud Kyoya, accomplishing what we spoke of that day in the hospital." Haruhi looked at Yoshio before glancing over to Kyoya. 'What the hell does that mean?'
"Thank you father." Kyoya answered.
Haruhi left it alone, not wanting to bring it up during lunch. A delicious looking soup was placed in front of her and she quickly glanced around the table to see how they ate it, so as not to make any mistakes. She picked up the same spoon Kyoya used and sat with her back straight, shoulders back and quietly ate her soup. She could feel Yoshio's eyes on her as she ate, and she felt more nervous than she ever had before. 'Am I supposed to be this nervous while being with my boyfriend's family?' She followed what everyone else did when they finished their soup and sat as straight as she could with her back pressed firmly against the back of the chair. Yuuichi and Yoshio were quietly discussing something, with both shooting glances at Haruhi every now and then. Fuyumi and her husband were giggling at each other. Haruhi glanced at Kyoya and gave him a small smile when their eyes met. He gave her one of his own. Akito never took his eyes off of Haruhi.
Akito POV
'She's quiet, which is good. She'll make a nice wife. She wants to be a lawyer, meaning she has brains. Hopefully Kyoya messes up with her, and then she'll be mine. He can't handle a woman as strong as Haruhi.'
General POV
A man came out and cleared away all their dishes. 'Of course they have a butler.'
"So Haruhi, how's school going for you?" Haruhi looked to Kyoya's mother with a smile.
"Things are great at Lobelia. I'm top of my class, so I don't have to worry about losing my scholarship. And I'm part of an interesting club at school." The mother smiled at her answer, looking genuinely interested in Haruhi as a person.
"That's wonderful. Smart and pretty." Haruhi blushed at her statement. Lunch was announced as being over and Kyoya came over and pulled Haruhi's chair out for her.
"I'm going to drive Haruhi back to her home." Kyoya announced to his family. Haruhi bowed once again and said goodbye to each person. Each one said their own goodbye back. Haruhi felt uneasy as Kyoya put his hand on the small of her back and walked her out. She sneaked a glance behind her and saw Akito, Yoshio and Yuuichi all staring intently at her. Akito gave her a small wink and she quickly faced forward again. Kyoya opened the car door for her and she got in as gracefully as she could manage. Kyoya slid into the driver's seat and started the car.
"You did great in there Haruhi." She gave him a small smile.
"What was your father talking about? What did you do to make him proud?" Kyoya sighed.
"I'd really rather not talk about that." Haruhi glanced out the window as they drove. She was going to make him tell her somehow. He dropped her off in front of her apartment and leaned in to kiss her lips. She turned her head so he only got her cheek.
"No lips until you tell me what your father was talking about."
"Very well then, I'll see you in a couple days." Haruhi got out amazed that that didn't get him to talk. 'Am I a bad kisser? Is that why he's okay with it?' Haruhi groaned and stomped up to her apartment. She opened the door to see her father sitting on the couch with Takashi and Mitsukuni.
"What are you two doing here? There's still two days left."
"Takashi and I wanted to see you Haru-chan. Besides, I don't think your plan counts anymore seeing as you were with Kyo-chan." Haruhi looked at Takashi and saw the destroyed look in his eyes.
"How did you know where I was?" Haruhi looked to Mitsukuni, too afraid to look at Takashi.
"Kyo-chan texted all of us saying he won your heart." Haruhi felt her eyes widen.
"Let me borrow one of your phones. Please." Mitsukuni handed his cell phone over to Haruhi and she called Kyoya's number.
"Honey-sempai, I'm driving, let me call you back." Kyoya answered.
"No, Kyoya. You are going to tell me what your father was talking about. And I told you that I would be the one to tell the others." She heard Kyoya sigh.
"I apologize for telling the others, I was excited I guess you could say. And as for the other thing, I'm not going to tell you." Haruhi hung up on him.
"Do you know Kyoya's father's number?" Haruhi asked Mitsukuni. He scrolled through the contacts until he found a phone number.
"That's Yoshio Ootori's number." Haruhi thanked Honey before pressing the call button.
"Yoshio Ootori." Was how he answered.
"Mister Ootori, its Haruhi. I really need to know what you were talking about at lunch today. When you said Kyoya made you proud." Yoshio smiled on his end.
"I'm surprised Kyoya didn't tell you. But if you must know, I told him to win you over. I told him that if you ended up with him and in the future married him, I'd make him the official heir of the Ootori group." Haruhi dropped the phone out of her hand. Kyoya was only with her to become the head of the Ootori family? Takashi watched Haruhi closely. He knew Kyoya really did care for Haruhi, but this was his only chance to gain Haruhi's love. Mitsukuni picked up the phone and hung it up.
"Haru-chan? Are you okay?" Haruhi fell onto the couch. At some point Ranka had left the room to give Haruhi and the two hosts' privacy.
"Kyoya doesn't actually want me? He just wants to be the official heir of the Ootori line?" Takashi sat down next to Haruhi and placed a gentle hand on her back.
"I know you chose Kyoya over me, but I'm still here for you. I don't know what was going through Kyoya's head when he didn't tell you up front about his deal with his father, but just know Haruhi, that I love you for you. I won't make a move until you're ready and single, but you needed to know my feelings." Takashi kissed the side of Haruhi's head then stood up to head for the door. Haruhi sat on the couch frozen. 'How could I choose Kyoya when I don't even know how he really feels about me? Takashi actually loves me, and I ignored him. I'm a terrible person.' Haruhi didn't even move or say goodbye as the two seniors left her apartment. Haruhi didn't know how long she'd sat there but was broken from her trance by a knock at the door. She got up on shaky legs and opened the door to reveal Kyoya. She glared at him.
"Haruhi, please let me explain." Haruhi allowed him to enter.
"You don't get to explain Kyoya-sempai. I thought you actually cared about me. Maybe even loved me, but you didn't tell me that I was just a business deal and a pawn to help you advance in your future. I chose you because in a dream I had, my mother told me that you were the one for me and I listened because I thought maybe it was my own subconscious telling me to pick you, but the more I think about it, the more I realize that maybe my mom didn't say to choose you. Maybe she told me not to choose you but I ignored the 'not' because dating you seemed logical and I do actually care for you." Kyoya sat down as Haruhi ranted. He tried to interrupt but didn't feel like being yelled at some more. Haruhi's voice became soft as she continued on,
"I came home and saw Takashi and Honey-sempai on my couch. When I looked into Takashi's eyes, my own heart broke because I knew that I was the one to cause him that pain. And once I learned the truth about your 'business deal,' he didn't make a move on me. And speaking this out loud, I realize that I wanted him to make a move. I wanted him to kiss me and tell me not to worry about you. And I just let him leave. I'm sorry Kyoya-sempai but I can't be with you when the one I really love is Takashi."
********OKAY~ please don't hate me for what I did….'Cuz to be honest, I felt really guilty after putting Haruhi and Kyoya together…. I felt like I had actually crushed Mori's heart and that's not right. So please please please please PLEASE don't hate me. But I am happy that I got more reviews even if I was being yelled at in them~*******
