It was dark when Jack appeared in the Captain's cabin. Victoria had just finished braiding her wet hair after she had taken a bath, one of the perks of being the favorite of the captain, how baths were hard to come by on a ship. Jack took her appearance in, Victoria wasn't wearing anything special, the same dark brown trousers and white shirt as when he met her. A dark green vest was draped over one of the chairs, her sword and pistol rested on the table next to it.
'How are ya feeling luv?', Jack asked as he shrugged off his coat and threw it over one of the other chairs.
'Relaxed', Victoria said as she sat down on one of the chairs, picking up an apple from the fruit bowl on the table and taking a bite from it/
'Good', Jack said, unstrapping his sword and laying it on the table beside his jacket before walking over to Victoria. Placing his fingers under her chin he raised her face and bent forwards until his lips met hers.
He groaned at the contact and his other arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer as he deepened the kiss. His tongue swept over her bottom lip asking her permission, she opened her mouth and her tongue swept across his, massaging it softly as she threw her arms around his neck.
Jack pulled away slightly before trailing kisses along her cheeks, towards her ears where he softly bit on her earlobe. A small moan escaped her as Jack found a particularly sensitive spot. A grin appeared on his face at her reaction and he buried his head in the crook of her neck while both his arms moved around her waist and lifted her up. Victoria giggled as Jack carried her to the bed, laying her down gently he sat on the edge of his bed and removed his boots before scooting over. Laying down next to her he propped himself up on one arm and looked at her, memorising every detail. His hand traced the lines along her face, down to her neck and the edge of her shirt, pushing it away revealing her soft, tanned skin.
His head moved down as he trailed kisses along her face and neck before burying his face in her chest.
'I found a new pillow', Jack mumbled against her skin as he softly nipped it. Victoria weaved her fingers through his dreadlocks, slowly massaging his scalp as she felt his breathing even out, within moments a soft snore rose from the man on her chest. A small smile appeared on Victoria's face as she looked down before she closed her eyes. Within moment she was vast asleep.
...
Victoria woke from a knocking, Jack's chest rumbled underneath her head where lay pillowed on his chest. The steady beat of his heart sounded in her ears. His arms were wrapped around her waist and held her close against him. She felt him wake up as his arms tighten for a second before he realised who was in his embrace.
'Cap't?', Gibb's voice came through the door.
'What?', Jack groaned as he sat up.
'We're here capt'n, the longboats are being prepared.'
'Aye, aye', Jack yawned, 'We'll be out in a minute.'
As Victoria heard Gibbs' footsteps retreat she felt a hand stroking her cheek, 'luv, wake up', Jack whispered.
'Don't want to', Victoria mumbled as she buried her head in the crook of Jack's neck, 'It's comfortable here.'
'I know luv, I know. But we got ta visit Tia Dalma, I need 'er help.'
Victoria sighed before she placed a kiss on Jack's jawline, 'Hmm, 'kay.'
Victoria crawled over Jack and walked over to the table and grabbed her sword, pistol and hat. As she strapped her sword around her waist she felt Jack come up behind her, he placed his hands on her hip and kissed her neck softly.
'Ya do know that I missed ya.'
'Aye capt'n', Victoria said as she turned around and kissed him softly on his lips 'you'll have enough time to let me know just how much, but I believe we have someone to visit first.'
Jack plucked her hat out of her hands before he turned around and walked towards the cabin's door, grabbing his sword on the way. 'If ya want your hat back, ya got to come and get it.'
Victoria smiled as she watched him walk out of the cabin, spending time again with Jack almost made her forget about the past year without him, almost. Walking up deck Victoria saw that most of the crew had assembled and were climbing down the ladders into the longboats. Victoria climbed down one of the ladders and set down in front of Jack.
'So, we're going to visit an old friend of yours?', Victoria said as she grabbed on of the oars, waiting until the lines were cast off.
'Aye, I've known Tia for a long time', Jack said as he looked around him, ''She helped me, I helped 'er, ya know how it goes.'
Victoria hummed as she started rowing, looking around her, the mangroves growing on the edge of the river were unlike any she'd ever seen. They were tall and hung over the river, their tips growing closer to each other, it didn't take long before the treetops touched each other, and with every passing stroke of her oar the world seemed to turn darker and darker, it felt like it was the middle of the night.
Just as Victoria was to ask if Jack was sure of where to were going, small lights started to appear between the trees, squinting her eyes Victoria saw that there were actually people standing between the trees, fireflies flying around them to illuminate the river in an eerie manner. It must have been a few minutes before she saw a several small huts turning up in the dark, Gibbs' jerked his chin in the direction of one of them, telling her that that was were they were going.
'No worries mates, Tia Dalma and I go way back', Jack said as he stepped on one of the small piers, 'Thick as thieves. Nigh inseparable. We are, were. Have been. Before.'
'I'll watch you back', Gibbs said as he helped Victoria out of the longboat.
'It's me front I'm worried about', Jack said as he glanced up at the hut.
'Guess that will be my job then', Victoria said as she squeezed Jack's arm, he glanced at the and gave her a small smile in thanks before he climbed up the ladder.
Victoria followed him up and glanced inside before she followed Jack in. The room was dark, the only light coming from a few candles scattered around it. Odd bits and pieces cluttered the walls and hang from the ceiling, a large white python hang from a tree next to the door, hissing at the newcomers. Victoria peeked around Jack as he walked into the room, her hands firmly holding on to his arm.
A tanned woman sat at one of the tables, hunched over it. As she noticed her visitors she looked up and a grin appeared on her face.
'Jack Sparrow', she said as she stood up and walked around the table.
'Tia Dalma', jack smiled back as he walked toward her.
'I always knew da wind would blow ye back to me one day.'
Tia inhaled sharply as she noticed the two siblings standing in her home, 'You two', she said as she walked up to them, peering between their faces.
'The sands of destiny move around you, Will and Victoria Turner.'
'You know us?', Will said as he looking slightly confused.
'Do ye want to know me?', Tia whispered seductively as she slowly moved towards him.
'There'll be no knowing here. We've come for help and we're not leaving without it', Jack said as he jumped between the pair of them, grabbing Tia Dalma by her arm and leading her away.
'I thought I knew you', Jack whispered as he led her away.
Victoria's brow furrowed as she heard his last words, she knew he had a history with the woman, but now she wanted to know what exactly that history was.
Jack's voice made here look up again, 'Come', he beckoned as he held out his hand to her before pulling her towards the table that Tia had sat at earlier. His thumb rubbed slow circles on the top of her hand as she tuned out the conversation that was going on. The past few days were starting to catch up to her, from the interrupted wedding to the search for Jack, the whole adventure on the cannibal's island and they're crazy escape from it. While she had slept for a few hours aboard the Black Pearl, it couldn't have been more than four hours. The exotic smells in the dark room and the steady stroke of Jack's hand lulled her in a daze.
Suddenly Jack pried his hand loose from her, which cause her to look up.
'The other one', Tia said.
Jack offered his left hand to Tia, she started to unwrap it and Jack looked away while the others inched closer, curious as to what Jack had done to his hand and what would interest the voodoo priestess. The bandage fell away revealing a large black lump in the middle of his palm. Victoria's eyes widened as she looked at it, it didn't look very good, was it maybe infected.
'The black spot', Gibbs yelled at the sight of it. His hands brushed off the front of his shirt before he turned around in a circle and spit on the ground. Pintel and Ragetti repeated his yell and ritual.
'My eyesight is as good as ever, just so ya know', Jack said jokingly.
'I have just the thing', Tia said as she moved to one of the back rooms, 'Now where did I put it?'
They heard Tia rummaging around in the other room for a bit before she returned, holding a large jar in her hands.
'Davy Jones cannot make port Cannot step on land but once every ten years. Land is where you are safe, Jack Sparrow. And so you will carry land with you.'
'Dirt. This is a jar of dirt', Jack said as if stating the obvious, not knowing why a jar of dirt would help him.
'Yes?', Tia said.
'Is the… jar of dirt goin' to help?'
'If you don't want it, give it back', Tia said as she reached for the jar.
'No', Jack said in a slightly childish tone hugging it to his chest as to protect the jar from her.
'Den it helps.'
'It seems we have a need to find The Flying Dutchman', Will said as he looked at the woman in front of him. Tia nodded as she picked up her crab claws and sat down.
'A touch… of destiny!'
The claws fell into a pattern that Victoria didn't understand, but as the men around her nodded their heads understandingly before they started to move out of the hut.
Victoria turned to follow them, but a hand resting on her shoulder stopped her. Turning around she looked in the face of Tia Dalma.
'Victoria Turner', she said, 'Jack will need you, and you will need Jack and your... brother. You will come across things you cannot or will not believe, but you must.'
Tia's nails clawed into her shoulder as she spoke.
'You must believe, it's the only way.'
Victoria felt her mouth go dry at the ominous words, she could only nod her head before turning around and fleeing from the hut, back towards Will and Jack. The whole ride back to the Black Pearl she clung to Jack, wondering what Tia Dalma's words could mean.
