I OWN NOTHING! SORRY ITS SO SHORT! NEXT CHAPTER WILL BE LONGER.
"Isaac, what do you mean my father's missing?" I ask into the phone, my fingers laced into my hair as I pace in front of Cora's bedside. I slam my phone shut, my heart pounding. Taking a deep breath, I make my way over to the desk, grab one side of it, and flip it straight into the brick wall with such force it shatters. The sound that follows is unlike anything I've ever made.
"Stop, Scar. Scarlet, stop it!" Peter grabs both my wrists and I growl; kicking him in the ribs to knock him away from me.
"I hope you're happy, Derek!" I scream at him, "I'm an orphan now, because of you! It's the same reason my mother is dead! YOU'VE KILLED BOTH MY PARENTS BECAUSE YOU CAN'T KEEP YOUR DICK IN YOUR PANTS!" I roar, launching myself at him. We clatter to the floor and I punch him as hard as I can over and over. He doesn't fight me, at all. He lets me wail on him until I hear Lydia's voice.
"Stop! He can help us find your dad!" I slowly pull my fist back and crawl off of him.
"Stiles said she's at the nemeton. Does that mean anything to you? Stiles said you'd been there." I feel my heartbeat accelerate. Paige, I think, You have to help me. Please. I know you're there.
"You know where it is. Think. Fight to remember."
"I can't remember anything, Paige!" I scream at the top of my lungs at her. Lydia stares at her in shock. She can see her, too.
"How are...How is this happening?" Lydia asks. Derek's face is a lost, dark expression I've never seen before.
So, I run. Into the darkness. On instinct. When I find myself next to my mother's grave for the first time, the memories flood back in.
"Mommy, where are we going?"
"It's called the nemeton. It's the reason Beacon Hills is called that. It's a beacon for the supernatural. Sweetie, this is where your aunt died."
"Aunt Paige was Derek's Paige?" I asked, frozen on the spot, "Mommy, this is the bad tree. I don't wanna come here."
"Bad tree...Scarlet Maree Argent! What were you doing out here that night?!"
"I heard Derek screaming!" I shouted, stomping my 7-year-old foot, "I thought he was hurt!"
She led me down into the cellar and showed me the tree with the knot in it.
"Is there a way to make the tree not bad?"
"Only by someone offering their life in exchange for hers. They have to die, but once their blood touches the bark, once the same amount is spilled, it takes away the bad tree's powers and anyone living off of it. It brings the replacement sacrifice back. If they were an Alpha, they'll be a Beta. Beta, Omega. Omega, human."
I bring myself out of the memory and make my way to the cabin where my Jackson is. Jackson answers the door and throws his arms around me and holds me flat against him.
"I need you to do something, and I know it's asking a lot."
(3rd Person)
They all knew something was off. Lydia was trembling, her eyes fixed on the distance. She knew something terrible was going to happen.
Jackson laced his fingers through hers as they walked in silence toward the Nemeton. Her mind drifted over images of each person she loved; every good memory. Her mind last wandered to Derek and spent the most time on him. She slid down into the cellar before Jackson, and kneeled down in front of her father.
"I love you, Dad. I want you to remember that. Don't try to stop me, alright? I've asked Jackson to do this. I'm the only one who can stop her."
"You can't do this. You're sacrificing yourself because you have her blood. Because you think giving up being the most powerful Alpha on earth is going to stop a Darach?"
"Yes. Mom taught me how to do this, Dad. Before she died."
Jackson sat down with his back to the tree, like she told him. Now, she knew exactly how this was supposed to work. She lowered herself into Jackson's lap, facing sideways like the memories of Paige she'd taken from Derek. He wrapped his arms around her the way Derek had around Paige, lacing their fingers together.
"Why me?" He murmured, "Why do I have to kill you?"
"Jackson, you were my first love. That's why. Derek was Paige's first love. It's how it works."
She closed her eyes and the pain, the pain Paige went through, coursed through her and she cried out. Her breath came shorter now, clutching his fingers as black dripped down her chin. She broke, howling at the top of her lungs.
Lydia screamed, dropping to her knees. It was that one. The one where she knew someone was going to die. Scarlet. Scott could hear her. So could Isaac. Cora. Derek. Lissa. Kristina. Ever. Peter. Aiden. Ethan. Kali. Deucalion. Jennifer. Marin. And Alan.
"No. No no no. She can't do this!" He breathed.
Scarlet was sobbing and Jackson was close. Tears blurred his vision, leaving hot trails down his cheeks as he held onto her. She was right, earlier. This wasn't fair of her to ask of him. He hid his face in her shoulder. The same words that were pleaded in front of the tree 10 years ago tumbled out of her mouth.
"Please! I can't take it anymore!" She screamed, fingers digging into his as her chin rested at the curve of his elbow. Crying, Jackson sunk his claws in the exact place she'd told him.
"Make sure I bleed on the nemeton, Jackson." Scarlet had told him. She was nearly dead, now. He turned them around so her spine met the bark and her reddish black blood soaked the bark. After a moment, the stain Paige left was gone; covered in his best friend's now. Her heart stopped now. In her Alpha voice, she'd demanded that he take her to Derek after she was dead. She wanted to wake up with him there.
"Get her out of here, we'll be out later. She needs to be long gone with Jennifer returns." Chris said, "Baby, I'm so sorry. I never wanted this life for you. I'm so, so, sorry."
"She wanted me to take her to Derek for when she comes back." Jackson murmured; one beneath her knees, the other under her shoulders. Her head fell back, eyes closed tightly. The Beta made his way nearly silently back to the Loft, swinging open the door slowly.
Peter rushed forward, tipping her head up to look at her pretty, blood-covered face. His heart squeezed. This girl was around him since she was an infant. She was like family to him, a third niece.
"Jackson, who is that?" Derek asked from his spot kneeled down beside Cora. He was weak, not wanting to believe that the woman he loved was dead in Jackson's arms, "Jackson, who is that?" He growled again.
"She-She told me to do it. She made me. Called it a r-replacement sacrifice."
"What the fuck are you talking about?"
"Paige! She replaced Paige at the nemeton!" He blurted out. Peter took the 17-Year-Old from the blonde's arms and laid her next to Cora. Cora rested the Beta's head on her thighs, stroking her brown hair with her fingertips. Derek threw Jackson against the brick wall, with his arm across the other's throat. Roaring in his face.
"What is wrong with you? She told you to kill her so you just did it?!"
"She was my Alpha, Derek. I had no choice!"
"Why you?"
"The truth or a lie?"
"Truth, Jackson."
"She said it was because I was her first love and you were Paige's, she was mine and Paige was yours. Scarlet promised that she'd wake up."
Derek's eyes were blue and he dropped the teen to the ground before taking a seat with his back pressed against the headboard and pulled the limp body into his lap; draping her legs on either side of him and rested her forehead on his collarbone as he kept both arms wrapped around her.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." He choked out into her hair as they stayed this way. Cora's hand was on his shoulder and the other was splayed out across the Beta's-Her Beta, now-spine.
Derek's heart was slow; aching, for a while. Then, her hand moved on his chest to fist in the fabric over his pec. He stiffened and waited for her to move again. She did. Her icy nose nuzzled into his chest. Cora felt her start to sit up.
"Derek?" She rasped, "Co...ra?"
"We're here. We're both here."
"Cold." Scarlet whispered. He drew her to sit between them. Cora started fiercely rubbing the girl's legs, bringing heat to them. It was nothing compared to they way her body stirred and lit up when Derek's hand rested against her cheek. She gasped and moved closer to his touch, her nose skimming up his throat and jaw. He groaned, quietly. Derek relaxed completely, pulling her fully into his lap. She shifted to drape her legs over his thighs and straddled him. There wasn't a single inch of her that wasn't touching him somewhere.
"I love you, Derek." She told him, her nose now pressing against his.
"I love you so damn much. If you ever, ever do that to me again I don't know if I will ever forgive you. You are not leaving me, understood? Never again."
"I promise...Do you still have that engagement ring?" She watched as his eyes widened in shock and he drew her down to kiss her fiercely for a moment before her face buried into his neck again. Jackson sank to the couch in relief. She was awake. Thank God.
"Isaac. I want to see Isaac." Cora said, standing up and jogging over to grab a change of clothes. Scarlet stopped short when she realized it. Cora...Cora was Isaac's mate. She was in love with him. It was why she was trying to push Scarlet away from him.
"Does he know?"
"No."
"Tell him."
"Why?"
"He's falling in love with my sister."
Cora growled at the words, taking her 'sister' by the hand and walking out toward the Vet's office.
"Go in ahead of me," Cora's brown eyes burned red and Scarlet whimpered under the Alpha's command but listened.
"SCARLET!" Lydia threw her arms around the still healing Werewolf. She nearly buckled under the weight when she felt his hand at her back. Derek stayed beside her, not letting her more than a few inches away.
"You aren't an Alpha anymore." Scott and Isaac addressed Scarlet at the same time. She shifted on purpose, locking her yellow eyes with theirs. Derek shifted as well, blue eyes.
"Then...Then who's the Alph..." The word died on Isaac's lips when she walked in, "Cora," He breathed, taking a whole two steps before his arms wrapped around her slim shoulders. She hid her face in his chest, breathing him in. He made a strangled noise between a growl and a gasp when Cora grasped the front of his shirt, pulled him down to her, and slammed her mouth against his. His fingers dug into her hips as she slanted her mouth, tongue snaking into his mouth.
Scarlet grinned when she pulled back and he tapped her nose with his, their foreheads pressed together. Derek turned her in a similar position and pecked her on the lips.
"So, you're together again?" Lydia asked, standing close to Stiles with their fingers laced.
"Yeah. Always will be," Scar murmured,
"And, Isaac and Cora are together?"
"Yes."
"I...You two are cute together." Scarlet spoke up, watching them. Cora grinned, turning back to face the other soon-to-be Hale.
There's someone for everyone.
Jackson, Lissa, Ever and Kristina all chose that moment to walk in and embrace their old Alpha; relieved. The entire Pack, crowded into one room.
Cora; the youngest in the room with the most power.
