As Zane crept into the graduation ceremony, he remembered the day he made the promise to Rikki.

A couple sitting on the beach at sunset, his arms wrapped around her. Zane and Rikki, when they were happy, when the world made sense. "If I graduate, will you promise me you'll be there?" Rikki asked slowly, worried that this was too deep for this moment. Zane sensed her fears and pulled her closer, finding her fingers and interlacing them with his own. "Rikki WHEN you graduate, I will be there." She giggled lightly at the stress he put on when, he kissed her lightly and they watched the sun sink into the ocean.

As her name was called she stood up smoothing out her dress, the girls had insisted she buy a new one for today, she walked up on the stage and accepted the diploma and shook the principals hand. Looking at the people in attendance, she wondered if he had even remembered the promise he made to her, the one that kept her going threw out the whole year. As she walked back to her seat she spotted him her jaw dropping. He remembered? When the ceremony ended and she had spoken to everyone, she spotted him waiting, patiently for her to finish. As she walked over she knew exactly what she wanted to do, "Congratu-" she kissed him, she kissed him with all the pent up passion and frustration and every feeling she'd had since they broke up but couldn't express. They only really pulled away for air, as she breathed in she whispered "You remembered" she smiled and looked down at her feet then up into his brown eyes. An I miss you was all she could get out of her mouth before he kissed her again. What a graduation present! she thought.
