CHAPTER 16 FLASHBACK! CHAPTER 16 FLASHBACK! CHAPTER 16 FLASHBACK! CHAPTER 16 FLASHBACK! CHAPTER 16 FLASHBACK! CHAPTER 16 FLASHBACK!

"Hey. There you guys are!" Dick smiled. Raven quickly tucked the letters in her jacket pocket.

"Yeah. We went to the vending machine for a drink." Freya informed.

"They did not have the flavor we wanted." Kori added.

"… We have soda here. Don't waste money at the machine." Roy informed.

"What bout Lipton?" Freya asked.

"Course, Freya. Got some yesterday." Roy chuckled and ushered her in their apartment.

"Sweetie, you should shower. We're watching in half an hour." Dick stated to Kori, holding out a dry towel for her.

"Yes. I shall. Thank you." Kori took it, giving a quick peck on the cheek and a small squeeze before entering in their apartment. Raven gave a small smile. A brow rose on Dick's face.

"What, Raven?" Dick asked, curiously.

"She's special." Raven muttered.

"Well, she's special to all of us." Dick countered. Raven glared at him.

"You know what I mean. I never heard you say 'Sweetie' before." Raven smirked.

"I just call Star that sometimes." Dick shrugged casually, but a light blush was appearing on his face.

"You give her lots of names." Raven muttered.

"I guess…"

"How much does she mean to you?" Raven asked.

"A lot… I don't know. I don't want to jinx it with the high school relationship never last thing, but… I feel like I could see myself spending the rest of my life with her, you know?" Dick muttered. Raven's eyes were wide.

"Really?" Raven was shocked at his boldness. Dick glared at her.

"Don't go around saying anything…" Dick threatened.

"Think you guys will be dating that long?" Raven loosely asked.

"Well… We're doing really well... I can't say that I don't feel confident in a better future." Dick shrugged as he walked back into his apartment to put is towel away.

"I can…" Raven softly said to herself. She let out a huge sigh as she put her hand in her pocket, clutching the letters. "This is going to hit him big…"

CHAPTER 17– THE AFTERMATH! CHAPTER 17– THE AFTERMATH! CHAPTER 17– THE AFTERMATH! CHAPTER 17– THE AFTERMATH! CHAPTER 17– THE AFTERMATH! CHAPTER 17– THE AFTERMATH!

Pitch black of the night surrounded the apartment building. Kori laid with her back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. She let out another sigh and she continued to stare above her. Kori turned her head toward her phone. She pressed the circle button and it brightly read 3:21 am, Sunday, February 20. Only nine more minutes until she was supposed to be in the hallway with Freya, leaving their friends for no one knows how long. After they all retired to their beds from their movie, Kori packed all her stuff quietly. She gave Dick a lame excuse about being exhausted from her shopping trip with Freya and retreated to her room quickly, unable to look at him without tears falling. Kori did not sleep a wink. She just laid in her bed all night as she is still doing at that moment. Another sigh slipped from her soft lips.

"I suppose I should be getting the ready to depart…" Kori whispered. However, Kori continued to lay there, unable to get herself to move. Kori shut her eyes tightly, wishing this was not happening. She patiently waited for a spontaneous change, like someone popping out of her closet, shouting "gotcha!" or even a miracle with an angel descending from the sky and sprinkling magic over her and her time would rewind.

After patiently waiting, Kori knew that was not happening. A long sigh pushed out of her lips and then she slowly got up from her bed, she grabbed the suitcase and backpack where she had with all her stuff packed. She looked at the room one more time before grabbing her phone, shoving it into the back pocket of her jeans and walking out. She walked into her and Dick's living room, clutching the handle of her suitcase tighter. Kori then pulled out her phone and looked pressed the button again. 3:24 am, Sunday, February 20. Six more minutes. Kori stood there for a moment, before looking over her shoulder to the plain white door that she could not open hours ago.

"I must see him one more time…" Kori muttered softly. She set her backpack and suitcase down. She quietly turned her heel and walked to Dick's room. She quietly opened the door, peeking in. She saw him lying on his side, blanket messily draped over the bottom half of his body. Kori cautiously walked closer, careful to not make any noises in fear of waking him.

She was then standing in front of him, staring at his face in the dark. Though she could not see him very well, she was still able to make out the details of his face as she let out a soft sigh. She then bent down and in front of him till her face was not too far away from him.

"Richard…" Kori softly whispered, almost inaudible. Dick did not stir though, continuing to lie peacefully. Kori was thankful he did not move, not wanting to wake him and be unable to explain her departure.

"I shall miss you so much, Richard… More than anything that this wondrous country you live in has… I wish I was able to explain why I am doing this… But I cannot…" Kori started, he continued to have his eyes closed as Kori continued to speak.

"We have not been the dating long, but I have much strong feelings for you… You do not know of this, but in my country, I shall be betrothed when I turn 18. I had come to this country in hope I shall find someone to marry me before I was to go back… I had hoped it would be you... Oh Richard… I believe… I believe I am in love with you Richard..." Another sign escaped her lips tears formed in her eyes.

"I am so sorry I could never truly say or do something to further our relationship. I am so sorry… I am sorry that I am leaving. I truly truly hope you do not do the hating of me… I shall miss you so much…"

Kori fought back the tears, not wanting to be loud and sob in front of him. She clutched her hands into a ball and held it over her nose and lips, trying to hide the noises of the inevitable sobs she would make. Taking in deep breaths, her sobs subsided. Her hand trembled as she went around her neck to try to unclasp the necklace he had given her months ago. After opening it, she froze.

'No.' Kori thought. 'If I return the necklace, he shall believe that I am doing the breaking up with him. I can never do that…' She quickly clasped the necklace back together as she brought her hands back down and slumped on the floor next to his bed. She decided to be bold and she leaned in towards Dick's face. Her eyes stayed wide open as she gave a kiss on his cheek. Her eyes closed the moment her lips touched his soft skin, holding the kiss there for a few moments. She then pulled away, eyes then shooting open. Dick stirred softly, re-positioned his body, grabbing the blanket and pulling it higher to cover more of his body. She continued to stare at him, to assure she did not wake him. After his movements stopped, Dick continued to sleep peacefully and she was fortunate enough to see a small smile formed on his face as he let out a dreamy sigh.

"Star…" Dick softly muttered. Kori froze, staring at him as he dreamily whispered her name. She waited patiently, but his eyes never opened. Kori let out a very small sigh of relief, but smiled through her teary eyes as she knew he was dreaming about her. She quickly got up, blew a small kiss goodbye as a soft tear rolled down her cheek before closing the door, never to open it again.

Kori pulled out a key from her pocket, her apartment key. She slowly took it out of her pocket before placing it on the coffee table. Taking out her phone again, she saw on the lock screen was the photo of Dick and her at the star gazing date on Valentine's Day. Kori shut her eyes again, holding back more tears before opening to see the time again. 4:00 am, Sunday, February 20.

"It is time." Kori quietly stated to herself before opening the apartment door and closing it behind her. Kori looked forward to see Freya sitting on the ground in front of her apartment, tears streaked on her face.

"Oh Sister." Kori muttered, before dropping her stuff and throwing her arms around Freya's neck. Freya tightly hugged back.

"I miss them already…" Freya whispered through her sobs. "And there are right here… They are so close, but so far…"

"I know, Sister. Do not worry. It is not the goodbye forever. We shall see them again. I am certain." Kori comforted.

"We'll figure it out." Freya sobbed quietly, nodding in Kori's shoulder.

"Stop crying…" A voice behind them hissed. The girls froze and turned to see who it was.

"Raven…" Kori muttered. There was Raven, wearing a black pullover and sweats.

"Thought I'd pass out the letters now. You know, before everyone wakes up." Raven softly responded, holding up their letters. Kori nodded.

"That is wise…" Kori agreed.

"… Yeah. Gar sleeps like a bear, he won't wake up to me walking around anyways…" Raven slightly joked. The two sisters both gave a soft chuckle.

"… So, you sure you guys don't want to give them out yourselves?" Raven asked. The pair stared at each other for a moment.

"It is the least we can do, yes?" Kori softly replied. Freya nodded.

"Yeah… You're right." Freya nodded and the girls extended their arms to Raven. Raven handed them the letters. Freya pulled out the letters for Roy, Vic, and Bee. Kori grabbed the one for Gar and Dick.

"We shall miss you, Friend." Kori muttered to the letter, giving the envelope a quick hug before slipping Gar's letter underneath the door. Freya did the same.

"Vic, take care of Bee. And Bee, be strong when Vic leaves next year. I know you guys will pull through." Freya told the letters before tucking it under the door.

"I'll miss you, Roy…You are so important to me. This… this isn't goodbye. I'll make sure of it. I'll see you again… Don't forget me, okay?" Freya spoke with determination in her voice, tightly clutching the letters, hugging it softly and then reluctantly slipping it under the door.

"Richard… Thank you for everything. Thank you for letting me call you Richard and for teaching me of the culture in America. And for helping me the day at the park in giving me the ride to the school, though the idea was Freya's. You have done so much for me… I cannot thank you enough for your kindness. For being my best friend. For being my friend who is a boy. For being the one who has taken my heart. I love you, Richard. I hope you will know that one day…" Kori muttered as she hugged the letter tightly in her chest. She reluctantly let go and gave it a soft kiss on the cover. She slowly bent down to slide it under the door, unable to get up as she sat, pulling her legs into her torso into a tight ball. Her arms hugged her legs and she let out a soft cry. Freya and Raven came around her, giving a tight hug around her shoulders.

"Kori…" Raven said. "I had no idea you really felt that way about him…"

"He was the one, huh? I knew it." Freya whispered teasingly into Kori's ear.

"Don't worry, Sis. We will find a way." Freya whispered, the same determination in her voice she had when she was speaking to Roy's letter.

"I hope so…" Kori muttered into her knees.

"I'll miss you guys." Raven stated as she continued to hug Kori.

"We shall miss you." Kori stated softly, lifting her head and wiping away her tears.

"We're sorry we have to leave…" Freya stated.

"Don't worry… I'll do my best to make sure everyone's okay." Raven stated.

"Thank you, Friend Raven." Kori gave a grateful look.

"When's your flight?" Raven asked.

"We should be heading to the airport now." Freya said as she pulled Kori up with her.

"Oh." Raven muttered.

"We shall miss you always." Kori softly stated, tightly hugging Raven. Freya followed suit. Raven could not push the girls away.

"I'll miss you guys too." Raven responded. "This isn't goodbye." Raven responded with determination in her voice.

"Exactly." Freya nodded.

"We shall do our best to contact you somehow." Kori informed.

"Right. Not goodbye." Raven emphasized.

"It is a promise to see you in the near future." Kori agreed.

"Alright. See you in the near future then." Raven stated to them, giving them a small smile. The girls smiled at their friend, hope in their hearts they would see her and everyone again. The pair grabbed their stuff and walked down the hall. Raven stood there as she watched them leave, listening to the soft footsteps they took, until she could not hear them anymore. Only then, did Raven's legs weakened under her and she sat down, hugging herself in a ball and let a soft tear fall down her cheeks.

A FEW HOURS LATER! A FEW HOURS LATER! A FEW HOURS LATER! A FEW HOURS LATER! A FEW HOURS LATER! A FEW HOURS LATER!

Kori stared out the window, looking as she sun began to shine brightly in the sky. A bright and happy day, ironic to her feelings. The pair was headed to New York as a stop before heading to Italy. After that, the pair would ride a boat to Tamaran. As the pair was sitting in the plane, they were finally able to take off their seatbelts. The two girls sat next to each other and gave each other a sad smile.

"Would you girls like something to drink?" The flight attendant asked.

"Sprite." Kori nodded, instantly thinking of Dick as she said it. It was what Dick always ordered and she always followed his choice in public, only drinking mustard when the pair were alone together.

"Lipton Tea." Freya added. The flight attendant nodded and left.

"What did mother and father say when you explained we were coming home?" Kori asked Freya.

"They were confused at the timing. I just told them that we were coming home because Bruce was working more and had less time to watch over us, so we figured to just come home before the school year was over to not burden him." Freya stated. Kori nodded. Then, both their eyes widened as they looked at each other with the same thought in their mind.

"BRUCE!" They exclaimed.

"We have not informed him or Alfred of us leaving!" Kori exclaimed.

"Well, we can call him now! We are cruising, right?" Freya suggested.

"Yes! CALL! CALL!" Kori panicked as Freya quickly whipped out her phone and started dialing. They were fortunate enough to be able to make phone calls on the plane. The pair leaned in together to listen to the phone as it rung.

"Hello. This is Wayne Residence. I am Alfred, how may I assist you?" A formal butler answered the land-line.

"AL! It's us!" Freya exclaimed.

"Hello Alfred!" Kori greeted.

"Oh my. Hello girls. What a lovely surprise to receive your call. What may I ask is the occasion?" Alfred asked.

"Well… We kinda have some big news…" Freya muttered, leading him into the conversation.

"Oh, alright." Alfred replied, waiting for a response.

"You should get Bruce." Freya stated.

"Yes, please, we must speak to both of you." Kori added.

"Alright. I shall." Alfred responded before putting the girls on hold.

"What do we say?!" Freya frantically asked Kori.

"I do not know! Perhaps you are to do the speaking!" Kori urged.

"What?! No! You do it!" Freya denied.

"What am I to say?!"

"What am I gonna say?!"

"I do not know! We shall be visiting home for a long period of time!"

"Sounds good to me!" Freya quickly responded. "You say it!"

"I shall not! You!"

"No you!"

"No you, Sister!"

"No you, now don't mentioned anything bout Babs remember?"

"It is you that shall not be the mentioning of Babs!"

"Girls?" Bruce's voice rang into the phone.

"AH!" they squealed, shocked at the sound of Bruce's voice.

"SH!" other passengers hushed.

"We are sorry! We shall try to do the being quiet with the conversation." Kori apologized collectively to everyone on the plane.

"Hey Bruce, Al! How you two doing?" Freya said nervously.

"Concerned. Why are you girls calling?" Bruce bluntly responded.

"What? Bruce! Can't we call just to call? See how you and Al are doing?" Freya nervously asked.

"No." Bruce quickly responded.

"Bruce, we have the news to share." Kori informed.

"Yeah, so, we are on a plane back home right now. OKAY BYE! WE'LL SEE YOU AT THE SOLAR FESTIVAL!" Freya exclaimed.

"What?!" Alfred exclaimed in shock.

"What do you mean you are on a plane back home right now?!" Bruce quickly asked.

"Just some complications here. We must return." Kori vaguely explained.

"Well… you were not planning to leave without saying goodbye were you?" Alfred asked. The pair looked at each other with wide eyes.

"Oh… N-n-no…" Freya awkwardly responded.

"Of course not! We are to stop in the City of New York and visit for a few hours and return to fly to Italy." Kori stated quickly, thankful that their stop was in New York, not far from Gotham.

"Only a few hours?" a hint of sadness was in Alfred's voice.

"Uh…" was all Freya could say.

"We did not wish to intrude…" Kori stated.

"You two are welcome to stay the night." Bruce informed. Freya covered the phone.

"We could just change flights?" Freya suggested.

"What if he does the asking of why we are leaving?" Kori asked.

"Well, I am sure he will not pry. Bruce doesn't seem like one to invade someone's privacy." Freya stated.

"We must also call Ryan about up arriving tomorrow then." Kori stated. Freya then removed her hand form the phone.

"Sure. We'll stay for a day, Bruce." Freya stated.

"Alright. I'll shall see you both soon." Bruce agreed.

"BEEP BEEP BEEP!" a noise above Kori and Freya's head made. The red light flashed, ordering the passengers to buckle.

"Sorry Bruce. We gatta buckle up. The red light flashed." Freya stated.

"We shall be arriving to the airport in a few hours. We shall call you again then." Kori stated.

"Bye!" Freya bid farewell as they hung up and turned off the phone, taking out the battery of both their phones in the process.

"Looks like we're in a pickle..." Freya muttered as she clicked her buckle around her waist.

"It is good we have turned off the phone. The others may try to contact us." Kori stated.

"Yeah. I feel like the others will be waking up if not in the next hour, before we get to Bruce's house…" Freya added, looking at her watch, flashing 9:27 am on her phone, indicating that they would be landing in an about an hour.

"I wonder what our friends shall be doing later…" Kori stated as she gazed out the window.

"I'd assume open our letters, freak out, try to contact us, be pissed, move on." Freya dryly muttered.

"Sister, I am sure they will be more upset then that about our departure." Kori countered.

"Well… I guess, but I am sure they'll be angry for leaving without saying anything…" Freya sighed. A silence fell over the two sisters.

"Do you believe they will enjoy their gifts?" Kori asked, looking over at Freya.

"I think so. They were pretty well thought out, right?" Freya stated, turning towards Kori.

"Yes. I hope so." Kori smiled back.

BACK AT THE APARTMENTS! BACK AT THE APARTMENTS! BACK AT THE APARTMENTS! BACK AT THE APARTMENTS! BACK AT THE APARTMENTS! BACK AT THE APARTMENTS!

BEEP BEEP BEEP! The loud siren blared through the quietness of the apartment. A lazy arm rose in attempt to shut off the alarm. It slid its finger in order to disable the alarm that blared from the phone and slumped back against the bed after sweet silence filled the air. Only moments after the alarm was off, Dick pushed himself off the bed, shaking his head slowly and rubbing his eyes. Swinging his legs over the side of his bed, his feet hit the soft carpet and slowly weight was put upon them.

Swaying, he walked on over to the door of his room and headed straight for the bathroom. A loud yawn slipped from his lips as he stretched his arms over his head. He slumped over to the bathroom. He used the restroom and washed hands and teeth. He splashed cold water on his face, rubbing his eyes open more in the process. He grabbed a towel to wipe his face. After his eyes adjusted, he stared at himself. His hair was a mess. Dick grabbed some hair gel and ran it through his locks, perfecting the spikes on his head. After he looked presentable, he then left the restroom to have breakfast with his girlfriend.

Entering the living room he looked around. Kori was the earlier riser and was usually sitting on the couch reading for class or making breakfast.

"Kori?" Dick called out to an empty room. Dick scratched the back of his head.

'That's strange… Probably was more tired from the mall than I thought…' Dick assumed. He turned his heel towards her room door. Facing the door he gave a soft knock.

"Kori, it's me. Are you awake?" Dick called out. He was answered with no response. His eyebrows furrowed together and decided to knock again louder.

"Star… Are you awake?" Dick tried again. Again, he was faced with no response. "I'm going to opening the door, alright? Acknowledging now that I am entering your room before you scream like last week." With no denial made, Dick took it as a yes, and turned the knob. He slipped his head in.

"Star?" Dick muttered, as he looked in. His eyes widened. Empty. Everyone was empty. The room looked as it did a few months ago, vacant. Dick threw the door open, not truly believing his eyes. He rubbed his hands over his eyes viciously before he stared at the room again.

His eyes did not deceive him.

Dick walked in slowly, uncertain of what was going on. He saw an empty mattress with no sheets or blankets or stuffed animals, as it had before. The walls lacked the posters and pictures Kori plastered on and there were no clothes sporadically on the floor.

Dick slid open the door of the closet and saw nothing was there as well, a big empty hole.

Dick quickly turned his heel and ran toward the living room and looked around for anything that showed signs of her living there.

Then, he saw something he never saw before.

On the floor at the door was a maroon envelope, faced down into the carpet with the opening facing towards the ceiling. Dick slowly walked over to the envelope, bending down to pick it up and turning it face up. There he saw its say "Dick" written in the awkward curvy writing of Freya's hand.

Dick popped the opening and pulled out the content of a light cream paper with a maroon and black border surrounding the pages. Dick's eyes quickly scanned over the pages.

"Hey Dick,

It has been almost two years since that day, that one day when we for some strange reason became friends. Raven had introduced me to you guys at lunch that Saturday and you flat out ignored me, whispering to everyone how I was a dork and just a kid. You though I didn't hear you. How wrong you were. I remember being hurt by what you said. Then, I realized what you were: a playboy. I didn't get why, until Bee explained to me how Babs hurt you. She cheated on you with Xavier and that hurt because she was the first girl you loved. I understood why you were so mean to me. You were someone who wanted to get revenge in order to fight the pain and betrayal from Babs. You used other girls to do that. It wasn't working for you though… Since it made her just keep Xavier closer. I knew you didn't mean to lash at me, you weren't interested in dating me, so why even care about me? You remember what happened after? That's right. The middle schooler was calling you out on your stupid ways. I think the words "insecure womanizer" should come to mind. But, somehow, that made us friends. I know that we don't always get along, but I can honestly say that I am lucky to have met you. You are a cocky, flirty, over-competitive jerk, who ended up being such a sweet guy and good friend. We made a promise that day. Do you remember? You promised to drop your playboy ways if I helped you find true love. I'm glad you met her. You have become the best boyfriend to my sister. She is lucky to have you, maybe more than you're lucky to have her… I know that we left without saying anything. I am so sorry. I know Kori's even sorrier. Please realize we wouldn't have left without a good reason and we would've said something if we could. Don't forget her, Dick. She's crying like crazy right now over leaving you, afraid of letting you live another life because she knows you deserve to have someone make you happy, even if it isn't her. She saw a future of you guys together. I think that future still exists. Just don't forget her. You mean a lot more to her than you think. Take care. And remember, make good choices.

Forever Friends, Freya

P.S. Part of your gift is underneath Kori's bed.

Dear Boyfriend Richard,

Oh Richard, you do not know how unhappy I am to write to you right now. I wish to inform you of how truly sorry I am that I could not inform you about this. It is for reasons I cannot explain and I am sorry. You must know that if I were to have one wish, it is that this was to never happen and we are able to still be in the apartment together, watching the t v and enjoying each other while consuming of meals together. I shall miss you dearly. I shall miss all the little things about us. I shall miss the way you do the tickling of me when we are the arguing of the movie we are to watch that night in order to be victorious. I shall miss the way your face changes as you are reading your book for the classes when you become confused or inspired or shocked. I shall miss how you do the tightening of your fingers in my hand when you hear the inappropriate noises of other males make at school as we walk by. I shall miss the messiness of your hair when I am able to do the catching of you before you enter the wash room. I shall miss how you attempt to not wear the glasses of sun when it is only the two of us in the apartment. I shall miss anything and everything about you, Richard. Please do not think Freya and I leaving is not because she nor I do not do the caring for you. I care for you so much that I cannot tell you how much. It is too hard and not fair for you for me to do so. I am sad because I notice that every little thing continues to remind you of me as I write this letter. There is a man sitting across the café wearing dark glasses of sun like you or how we did the passing of the smells at the store and I am able to detect the smell you wear or how there is a woman is doing the tapping of her foot as you do when you are doing the thinking while taking the exams.

I wish for you to have something that is very special, something that is the one of the kind. It is very important to me that you know that you are most special to me. I know you shall do the great things in the future. Do not do the stopping of pursuing your dream. I believe you shall be the most amazing police officer. I know you protect everyone and make the lives of others safe and wondrous, as you have done for me.

Know that I shall never forget you nor ignore the feelings I have for you. They are very strong, though we did not know each other for long. But, please, try to do the best of moving on. I know it shall be hard, but I do not wish for you to dwell on me. I am not the worthy of it. Please be happy and enjoy your life.

Love, Kori, Your Star"

Dick shook his head a few times before rereading it over again. Hid mind started to race.

She left? Where is she? Where did she go? For how long? Is she not coming back? Move on? Did she break up with me? Is she moving on? Why?

Dick reread it a third time, confirming what he had seen before he stormed out of the apartment and banged on the door across the hall.

"What the fuck?" the voice exclaimed from behind the door. Opening it, there was Roy with his messy ginger hair, rubbing his eye as he opened the door.

"Dick? What the fuck are you doing?" Roy exclaimed.

"FREYA!" Dick yelled, pushing pass Roy as he stormed into the apartment.

"Man, it's still morning, Freya's probably still sleeping." Roy answered for her. Dick turned to him, holding up his letter.

"Did you get one of these?" Dick asked. Roy looked at it confused.

"A love letter? I don't think Freya and Kori would coordinate gifts." Roy joked.

"No. This isn't a damn love letter." Dick snapped, causing Roy to be jump back. Dick then continued into the apartment and started to bang on Freya's door.

"FREYA! FREYA!" Dick shouted, banging on the door.

"Dick, calm down-" Roy started to walk towards him but a crunch under his foot shocked him. He looked down and saw a maroon envelope with gold design. Roy picked it up and pulled out the letter. His eyes were shocked.

"Freya?" Roy muttered before running over to Freya's room as well. Dick pushed open the door and found Freya's room the same as Kori's: empty. Dick let out a growl.

"Where are they?!" Dick snapped.

"My letter doesn't say anything either." Roy informed.

"Why did they just leave?! There has to be a reason!" Dick shouted angrily.

"Hey, man, did you call Kori?" Roy asked. Dick's eyes lit up as he ran back to his apartment to retrieve his phone. Roy followed him as they both stood in Dick's apartment, waiting for a response. After a few moments. Dick snapped in anger and threw his phone at the couch.

"Straight to voice mail." Dick muttered, running a hand through his hair. Not too long later, four people ran in.

"Did you guys get letters too?" Vic asked, holding his cream one up. Dick and Roy responded with holding up theirs.

"They just left?" Bee asked, sadness lingering in her voice.

"I guess so…" Roy muttered, defeat in his.

"Any of you guys got a hint of where they went?" Vic asked, trying to be hopeful. Silence was his response.

"Did you get a gift too?" Bee asked.

"Yeah, it says it's coming tomorrow. Says it's a surprise." Gar informed.

"Mine says coming in the mail. Surprise too." Roy informed.

"Mine's Monday. It's a used car." Raven stated.

"Whoa. A car? They must have went all out on these gifts then…" Vic stated.

"To say sorry…" Bee added.

"And show us they still care." Raven finished.

"But they just left without saying anything!" Dick shot. Dick growled angrily and grunted as he punched the wall. He took his other arm and swung again. Again. Again.

"Whoa Whoa." Vic exclaimed as he grabbed Dick's arms to prevent him.

"Dick, don't hurt yourself…" Bee soothed as she placed an arm on his shoulder.

"Yeah, punching the wall ain't gonna do anything…" Roy tried as well. Dick slowed his breaths as he pulled his arm away from Vic's grasp. He slid down on his legs and fell on his hands, fighting back the sadness his body desperately wanted to let out. Surprisingly, Raven pushed through all her friends and wrapped her arm around his shoulder. Dick didn't move, but did not push her away.

"She left, Raven…" Dick whispered softly, being almost inaudible to her.

"I know, Dick." Raven replied.

"Need a hug too, Dude?" Gar genuinely asked as he turned to Roy, opening his arms. Roy's face was crestfallen.

"Maybe just a short one…" Roy gave in as they had a small hug together.

"Did we try calling them?" Bee asked, hopefully.

"Phone's off." Dick responded, without looking up.

"I'm sure they left for a reason…" Vic tried to make the situation better.

"But, without saying anything?" Roy countered sadly.

"Look, we all know Freya. She's got the gossip mouth of all the Plastics put together. She would've said something…" Bee exclaimed.

"Maybe the gifts are clues!" Gar exclaimed, excited. They all stared at him like he was crazy. "Maybe they all are connected some way and put them all together it shows us exactly where they are and we can find them!"

"Doubt it…" Raven muttered, knowing the truth of the gifts.

"Aw come on. Someone has to have their gift now. Dick, what was your gift?" Gar asked.

"It's two parts. One's under her bed." Dick stated.

"Well, go get it!" Gar exclaimed.

"Gar, it doesn't matter-" Dick started to counter his friend's ideas.

"Come on, Dude. You meant something to Kori. Just check." Gar urged.

"It still doesn't change anything! She left. Without even saying a word. I won't pretend like that it didn't happen." Dick countered, determination in his voice.

"Dick… Don't do something you'll regret." Bee urged.

"I need to be alone." Dick snapped. He got up, pushing his friends away as he shoved his hands in his pocket and walked out.

IN GOTHAM CITY! IN GOTHAM CITY! IN GOTHAM CITY! IN GOTHAM CITY! IN GOTHAM CITY! IN GOTHAM CITY!

BUZZ BUZZ! Kori and Freya waited patiently in front of the metal gate that was in front of Wayne Manor.

"This is the Wayne Residence." A voice stated through the voice box.

"Hey Alfred. It's us." Freya replied while holding the button.

"Ah. Miss Freya. I shall open the gates now." Alfred informed. The girls waited as the gates swung open and they entered the premises. Alfred was waiting our front.

"Alfred!" Kori exclaimed as she dropped her bags in front of him and threw her arms around him. Alfred chuckled as he hugged her back. Freya joined in the embrace.

"It is good to see you girls." Alfred confessed.

"We missed you lots, Alfred." Freya exclaimed.

"As did I. Please, come inside." Alfred informed. The girls walked passed him, refusing to give up their bags to him, even though he chivalrously tried to bring them in for the girls.

"Master Bruce is in the dining hall for lunch. He wishes for you girls to join him." Alfred informed.

"Alright. We'll just leave our bags by the door." Freya stated as she and Kori dropped their stuff there before walking in the large dining hall. The girls smiled as they saw him.

"Hello Bruce!" Kori beamed as she ran over to give him a quick hug.

"Hello girls. Thank you for stopping by before you left." Bruce thanked.

"Of course. We're so sorry we almost left without doing so." Freya apologized.

"Yes, there was much going on in the short time." Kori tried to explained.

"It's alright. I forgive you. Alfred, on the other hand…" Bruce joked.

"Master Bruce. Do not bring me into the issue. I was not the one who almost dropped his mug after hearing the news." Alfred teased.

"But I did not." Bruce countered.

"You were very close to." Alfred retorted back with a smirk.

"Boys…" Freya teased as the pair sat down across the table next to Bruce.

"Yes… We really would like to know why you guys are leaving so abruptly." Bruce informed, leaning forward while placing his elbows on the table and his palms together. Alfred came and brought the girls a plate of salmon with asparagus, corn, and mashed potatoes on the side.

"It is difficult to explain…" Kori started.

"... Because we can't really explain it." Freya finished.

"I don't follow."

"We were told we could not tell anyone."

"You were threatened?"

"Well, I mean, not life or death."

"No kidnapping?"

"No."

"Or at gun point?"

"No, nothing of the sort."

"I still do not follow."

"It's just, we have to go home."

"There is no reason that I can see. Your parents did not inform me of you two being needed back in Tamaran. Nor was I informed of anything happening in Jump."

"We can't tell you…"

"I am not seeing how you were threatened. There was no gun, you were not taken hostage, there was no attack-"

"Bruce, it does not make the sense, but we are unable to provide you information in order to allow it to make the sense." Kori finished. Bruce let a loud sigh as he rested his head on the tips of his fingers.

"Well… I suppose if you both have made your decisions, I cannot change it." Bruce finished.

"We're sorry about this, Bruce." Freya apologized.

"We do not wish to leave." Kori said with sorrow in her voice.

"I have no idea what to tell your parents." Bruce added.

"Don't worry. We will talk to our parents." Kori informed.

"You'll visit during the Solar Festival, right?" Freya asked, hopefully. Bruce let out a small chuckle.

"Don't I, always?" Bruce smirked.

"Splendid! We shall miss you!" Kori exclaimed.

"Will you please not tell anyone?" Freya requested.

"You know Dick will be concerned. I am sure Roy and the rest of your friends will be as well." Bruce informed.

"We are aware." Kori nodded.

"They will be calling you." Bruce stated.

"We have disconnected our phones after calling you." Kori informed.

"I see."

"Please?" Freya begged.

"I will do my best." Bruce nodded.

"Thank you…" Freya let out a breath of relief.

"What time is your plane now?" Bruce asked.

"We scheduled another flight. It leaves at like 2 am tonight." Freya informed.

"We could not find one that is later. We are sorry, Bruce." Kori apologized.

"It is quite alright. I could always give you guys a ride with my jet." Bruce offered.

"No, it's okay. We already bought the tickets, anyways." Freya declined.

"We appreciate the offer, though." Kori smiled.

"Miss Kori, Miss Freya, would you two like to have a nap before your departure tomorrow?" Alfred asked as he took their plates away.

"Yeah. That should be a good idea." Freya nodded.

"Thank you very much, Alfred. Thank you as well, Bruce. For everything." Kori gave a sad smile before the two departed.

"Alfred…" Bruce called to Alfred.

"Yes, Master Bruce?" Alfred asked.

"See if you can contact Jump City Police Department. I'd like a word with them." Bruce informed.

"Master Bruce, do you think they have any knowledge on the the departure of Kori and Freya?" Alfred asked.

"No. But as their guardian in America, I'll have better access to the school's security going through the police." Bruce informed as he got up from the table.

"As you wish, sir." Alfred informed as he left to go do his task. Bruce whipped out his phone and start to make a quick dial.

"What?"

With Kori and Freya going up the stairs, the pair spoke in hushed tones to each other.

"I hope they are not the mad at us." Kori muttered, looking back down the hallway they had just left.

"Bruce and Alfred understand. We have to do what we gatta do." Freya stated.

"And our friends?" Kori asked.

"I think it'll be okay." Freya whispered to her, rubbing her back softly as the pair walked down the hallway to their personal bedrooms in the manor.

WITH EVERYONE! WITH EVERYONE! WITH EVERYONE! WITH EVERYONE! WITH EVERYONE! WITH EVERYONE!

Everyone watched Dick storm out. No one said anything.

"So… Wanna look at Dick's present?!" Gar lightly joked. Raven gave him a thump on the back of the head.

"OW! What?!" Gar exclaimed.

"This isn't the time for jokes." Raven scolded.

"Well what? Are you gonna be all violent and angry like Dick?!" Gar shot.

"Nah, but dude, this ain't the time to joke bout this. They just left. Without saying nothing. Dick must be taking it hard, especially since Kori's the first girl he was in a relationship with since Babs." Vic tried to explain.

"Yeah, Dick acts out with he's upset." Bee stated. "I don't think he really knows how to handle things…"

"Maybe someone should go after him, then." Gar informed.

"Let's give him some time…" Raven decided.

"We can all go out for pizza later?" Roy suggested. "Try to not dwell on it. I think if he doesn't think about it, it'll help him not feel upset."

"Yeah. Good idea." Bee nodded.

"So, I don't suppose any of you know where they went?" Vic asked.

"Nope. Nothing." Gar shook his head.

"Yeah, Freya didn't say anything." Roy stated.

"I wish we could just talk to them, you know? At least know what happened." Bee started. "I mean, even if they can't come back, it sure would be nice to hear from em."

"You know… I think they went home." Vic guessed, rubbing his chin.

"What makes you say that?" Raven asked, hopeful of them catching on.

"I mean, they couldn't really go nowhere. Seems like it would make sense for them to head home." Vic stated.

"But where is home?" Gar asked.

"Not sure…" Vic shook his head. "Girls never talked bout it… They always seemed so reluctant to talk bout it."

"Yeah! I noticed too. Freya never talked bout her home." Roy informed.

"Maybe there's a reason…" Raven egged on.

"Yeah, maybe they had a bad life back home? Trying to run away from it?" Bee suggested.

"But then why would they go back?" Gar asked.

"Maybe they were threatened." Bee shrugged.

"Don't joke like that." Vic threatened. "If that's the case, we gatta help them."

"I'm sure if they were in danger going home, they would contact the police or something." Raven informed.

"But, are they citizens?" Gar asked, taking them off topic.

"I think they are... where you study in foreign countries, you can't work or anything, but you aren't shunned from help I'm sure. International or foreign exchange students. But they are suppose to have a guardian here." Roy informed.

"But, they are making money. I thought you couldn't do that because you don't pay taxes and stuff." Bee asked with confusion.

"But it's through the school program. Because it is part of the program to work and such, they can." Vic explained.

"This is off topic." Raven stated.

"Right… So, what should we do?" Bee asked to the group. They were faced with silence.

"Well… The girls left, we can't change that. We can't really contact them. We don't even know where they went." Roy muttered.

"I think we should do our best to try to handle life without them. I mean, they did leave. Let's give them their space. And let's try to contact them during spring break." Vic suggested.

"That's in a month and a half, Vic." Roy stated slowly, trying to get Vic to grasp that time frame.

"I know, but I mean, we can't drop our lives. We gatta keep moving forward. I know I'm the only one, but I got acceptance letters coming in the next month." Vic explained.

"Vic's right. The girls wouldn't have wanted us to be depressed about them leaving. They'd want us to be happy and hopeful of seeing them again." Bee added.

"And Dick?" Gar asked.

"Well, we'll keep an eye on him. Make sure he isn't being stupid." Vic informed.

"I'll tell Carson about having us be partners now that both of ours are gone." Roy suggested. "I could keep a better eye on him then."

"Sounds like a plan." Vic nodded in agreement.

"How come you're not crazy like Dick?" Bee asked, turning to Roy.

"Yeah. Freya's your girlfriend." Gar added.

"I guess, I'm just in shock. Kinda like a crazy dream and when I pinch myself, I'll wake up." Roy stated.

"I guess, but still…" Vic tried.

"I guess cause Dick and Kori's relationship is more developed. Maybe they have stronger feelings. That should be pretty obvious, though. They are pretty much inseparable." Roy guessed.

"Hey, let's change. We're still in PJs." Gar pointed out.

"Alright. Let's meet back in me and Bee's place." Vic informed. Everyone dispersed. Roy walked back to his apartment, uncertain of what really happened. It was all so sudden and confusing. Roy pulled off his white wife beater before looking around for something to wear. He then grabbed a black t shirt and slid it over his naked torso. He took off the sweatpants he had worn and put on a pair of dark jeans. He put on white socks and sneakers and headed to Bee and Vic's apartment. The door was already open and he saw Bee sitting in an arm chair.

"You're done?" Roy asked, kinda surprised.

"Vic's using the bathroom. Can't do my hair and make up till he's out." Bee informed. She was already changed in a mustard yellow sweater and jeggings.

"Ah. I see." Roy then plopped on the couch next to her.

"So, what do you feel bout Freya?" Bee asked, turning towards him, placing her arms on the armrest of the the chair and rested her head on top of it.

"I mean, I like her. I have for a while, but I guess it's different since we started dating. We lost that friendship we had. We're not as comfortable around each other anymore. I worry about whether or not I should hold her hand and what I smell like and what she'll think of my clothes. It's like more difficult, I guess. Being so concerned all the time about someone's opinion." Roy shrugged.

"But that's dating, right?" Bee asked.

"I guess, I wish it was how it was though. I mean, we just started, but I liked how we could just mess with each other and laugh and have fun." Roy informed.

"So, you miss the friendship." Bee added.

"Yeah. I think so." Roy nodded.

"Well, I'm not an expert or anything, but you guys are new. It is rocky at first, but after everything calms down, it'll be cool. You guys will be comfortable." Bee informed.

"So what bout you and Vic? You guys comfy?"

"Hell yeah. We haven't had much change after the first year. But, I mean, it's nice. It's really stable and you can expect someone around always, you know?"

"Not really…"

"It's cools, you will."

"Well, what about when Vic goes to college?"

"I mean, it's inevitable. I don't expect Sparky to stick around Jump City. And I get it. I know we can work through it. It'll be tough, but it'll work out. All part of the relationship."

"I guess… Guess I'm kind of a failure. Already not able to adjust to change with my relationship."

"Like I said, you guys are new. Don't worry too much about it."

"What about now? She's gone."

"Well, did you want your relationship to be over?"

"No. I mean, even though it's weird, I like being with her overall."

"Well then, it's not over." Bee smiled.

"But, we can't be in a relationship if she's God knows where."

"Hey. Wouldn't worry bout it too much. Things work out. I mean, if you feel like you guys are over and want to move on, that's all you. But don't let a little bump in the road stop you guys from being together." Bee then reached over to pat him on the shoulder and gave him a hopeful smile.

The pair heard the door click open.

"FINALLY! YOU TAKE FOREVER!" Bee yelled over her shoulder to Vic as she got up to go to the bathroom.

"Hey! I was shaving!" Vic snapped back.

"Please, don't act like you have Santa's beard or something. All you got is some stubble." Bee taunted.

"Excuse me?! Maybe then you shouldn't complain about kissing my face!" Vic shot.

"IT'S CAUSE OF THE STUBBLE! Like kissing sandpaper! If you got actual hair growing, it'd be softer!" Bee argued. He then walked into the bathroom and Vic sunk into the couch. Vic wore his letterman jacket over a dark gray t shirt as well as jeans and sneakers.

"So, how you feeling?" Vic turned to Roy.

"Not bad. Bee helped." Roy informed.

"Yeah, she's not bad at talking. Raven's definitely easier to vent to, but I think Bee's pretty good at romantic advice and such." Vic nods.

"Lucky to have her, man." Roy patted his shoulder.

"Thanks. I am. Hope next year everything's all good, though." Vic stated.

"College?" Roy asked.

"Yeah. Don't tell no one, but I resubmitted my application to Gotham U. Coach's an alumni and was able to convince them to accept me for regular admission. After the football season was over and they saw how I did with coach talking me up, they accepted me! Got some scholarship money too." Vic beamed.

"Dude! That's awesome! Congrats!" Roy exclaimed, giving Vic a fist pound.

"Yeah, Bee doesn't know, though. I'm afraid to say I'll be on the other side of the country next year…" Vic frowned.

"Hey, man. Don't worry. You and Bee are solid. Don't let a little bump in the road stop you guys from being together." Roy smirked, thinking about where he got those words.

"I guess. We'll probably talk bout it more when we have time." Vic stated.

"So, what we doing, guys?" Gar asked as he and Raven came in. Gar wore a black hoodie and deep purple t shirt along with jeans and sneakers. Raven had on a purple cardigan over her black fitted shirt and skinny jeans.

"You two matching?" Vic joked wiggling his brow.

"I told you they would comment." Raven groaned.

"It's not my fault I know you so well." Gar winked and nudged Raven's side with his elbow.

"More like I come out in this and you run back and change." Raven snapped.

"Well, you didn't change after that!" Gar countered.

"And have you go back in and take even longer. No thanks." Raven muttered.

"Alright! I'm back!" Bee smiled. She then looked over at Gar and Raven. "Aw! You two are matching! Just fuels our idea of you guys dating." Bee winked. Raven face palmed as she brought her hand to her face and groaned. Vic and Roy just laughed as Gar blushed at Bee's comment.

"So… Now what guys?" Gar asked.

"We should get something to eat." Vic suggested.

"Yeah. I'm hungry." Roy nodded.

"Why am I not surprised?" Bee muttered as she shook her head.

"We can go to the pizza parlor?" Gar suggested.

"I'm down." Roy nodded.

"What about Dick?" Raven asked.

"I'll text him. He had some time alone, right?" Vic asked. The group agreed and he started typing.

WITH DICK! WITH DICK! WITH DICK! WITH DICK! WITH DICK! WITH DICK!

Dick walked down the streets of Jump City. He's been walking for a good half an hour. Every few minutes, he would replay what happened in his mind, lets out a sigh and continue to walk his normal pace. He didn't know where he was going or what he was doing. All he knew was he had to get away.

He pulled out his phone and dialed Kori's number again. However, it was not faced with the voice of her answering machine. Instead, a robot voice said, "The number you have dialed has been disconnected or is no longer in service." This caused Dick to stop in his tracks.

'She disconnected her phone?' Dick thought. Dick quickly dialed Freya's number.

"The number you have dialed has been disconnected or is no longer in service." The same voice stated. Dick angrily ran his hand through his hair as he let out a deep growl.

"Where did she go?" Dick muttered angrily to himself. He ended up at a park and slumped onto one of the benches. He let out a long sigh as he quietly sat to himself.

"It just doesn't make sense… If she had to leave, why didn't she just say something?" Dick asked himself out loud.

'Because you would have convinced her to stay.' The voice in his head argued.

"I would've understood…" Dick convinced.

'But if she couldn't come back?' He retorted.

"Well, I mean, long distance… it's worked before." Dick countered.

'What if she can't date you?' it responded.

"What do you mean?! She was dating me before." Dick growled. A family walked by, giving him an odd look at his outburst, but Dick ignored them.

Vibration then came from his pants and Dick dug into his pocket.

"Hey man. You alright?" Vic texted. Dick debated whether or not to respond. He reluctantly started typing.

"Yeah." Dick then shoved the phone back in his pocket. Not long after, he felt more vibrations and grabbed the phone again.

"We heading to the pizza parlor. Wanna join?" Vic asked. Dick gave a frown. He wasn't in the mood.

"I'm okay."

"You sure? Pizza's on Roy."

"I am. Thanks."

"Hey." A voice came from behind. He turned and saw a guy who looked a couple years older than him. He skin was pale like Raven's and he had longish, deep black hair and icy blue eyes. He was well built with a black wife beater on, showing off the tattoos on his arms.

"What the hell's wrong with you, kid?" The guy nodded to him.

"Nothing." Dick gruffly responded. Dick turned back to his phone, pretending his attention was elsewhere.

"Lady troubles?" The guy asked. Dick glared at him through his glasses, annoyed by this strange dude.

"Something like that." Dick muttered, not really certain why he responded.

"She left you?" He asked. Dick took a deep breath, trying not to lash out.

"Not really any of your business." Dick gritted through his teeth

"Don't worry, man. Happens to the best of us. My lady left after I told her the baby she had wasn't mine." He explained as he plopped on the bench next to him. "She was a bitch anyways… Slept with anything that had balls… Was she knocked up?"

"No." Dick glared. Why the hell am I even talking to this guy? Dick decided staying wouldn't help his cause as he got up to leave, but the guy pulled him back.

"What the hell!" Dick shot as he pulled his arm back.

"Want some?" The guy offered what he was holding. He turned the tip toward Dick to offer. The dark bottle looked very familiar.

"No." Dick glared at the Corona bottle in the guy's hand.

"Ah don't worry bout germs. I got a pack." He informed, taking the six pack off the floor and placing on the bench.

"No. I'm not old enough." Dick shook his head, deciding now it was a good time to try to get up again.

"So what? I'm sure you had some before." The guy stated. He had. Once when he was 13 he snuck into Bruce's cupboard and chugged some of his best rum. Man, was that a thorough and long lecture.

"Whatever." Dick rolled his eyes at the idiot who was drinking alcohol in the middle of the day like an alcoholic.

"Come on, man. It'll fix you up." The guy stated, waving it in front of him. He didn't seem drunk, but it looked like he was already on his second bottle.

"I'm leaving." Dick stated and got up again from the bench. He started to walk away.

"I'll be here!" The guy shouted extremely loud, louder than necessary.

"Hey. I'm coming to the parlor now." Dick started to type to text to Vic, but was interrupted by a call.

"What?" Dick growled angrily.

"I wouldn't use that tone with me if I were you." The calm tone replied. Dick groaned.

"I'm not in the mood, Bruce..." Dick groaned, honestly.

"So no information I have would interest you." Bruce stated.

"No." Dick stated.

"Nothing?" Bruce amusingly spoke.

"... Where's this coming from, Bruce?"

"My information now interests you? But you don't even know what it's about." Bruce teased.

"Bruce... Really, I'm not in the mood. What do you want?" Dick shot, sounding drained.

"I know where Kori and Freya are." Bruce stated.

"What?!" Dick exclaimed. "Where?! Do you know why they left? Are they hurt? Is Kori alright? What bout-"

"Dick! Calm down." Bruce ordered. "They are here at the manor."

"What? Why?" Dick asked with a lot of confusion.

"I am not at liberty to speak about it. I don't know if you have any ability to get them to stay, but I felt like you'd like to know that I am sending you the jet."

"Okay. I'll head to the airport." Dick stated. Bruce then hung up the line and Dick was left on by himself. "Thanks, Dad."
