Wedding Bell Blues
For Blu and Jewel, the night of their engagement and wedding shower would turn out to be the most memorable night of their lives. But alias, the party at the tree house had to end soon because tomorrow they were planning on meeting up with their friends to talk about various wedding plans for their big day. The candle lights throughout the wooden structure were beginning to die down as the young spix macaw said their good byes and gave thanks to all of their friends.
"Thank you so much for everything when it came to planning this proposal out" Said Blu as he gave Nico, Pedro, Luiz, and Rafael each a friendly hug. "Heaven only knows how what I would have done without you all by my side".
"Anytime my friend" Rafael replied to Blu.
"You guys were a huge help to both of us" praised Jewel as she and her fiancé where about to fly back to the couple's hollow.
"You two love birds have a good night" shouted Nico as he put a wing around Pedro.
"I shall see you in the morning Jewel" Eva shouted to Jewel in an excited manner.
Rafael studied his wife's selfless motivation behind helping Jewel plan for her and Blu's wedding and started to have a feeling that Eva wants to be part of the whole wedding planning process too so that Jewel could endure less stress when it came to wedding plans.
"Eva" Rafael said to his wife as he placed a wing around her. "You get Jewel while I will deal with Blu tomorrow so it could be easy for Blu and Jewel to plan their wedding individually even though they will likely choose a venue together".
"That would be perfect Raffie" smiled Eva giving a kiss to her husband.
So, Blu and Jewel flew back home to rest for the night so that in the morning, they would be well rested enough to start planning their wedding.
As he flew with Jewel to return home for evening, Blu could not think about where he wanted to exchange his vows with her for in his mind, came the ideal places that would make great candidates for a place to hold the wedding ceremony.
"How about Jewel and I get married at Ipeanema Beach because what's not more romantic than getting married in front of the view of the ocean" Blu said to himself. Yet, while getting married at a beach would make any wedding sound romantic, but at the same time, Ipeanema is very popular as a beach that, it may end up getting crowded throughout the day which meant it would be very hard to have a wedding ceremony in a crowded area. Then, he came up with another ideal place where he and Jewel could tie the knot. "How about the Redeemer statue" he suddenly thought before he accidentally ran into a small tree for he was not paying too much attention to where he was going while brainstorming wedding venues.
"Eek" painfully screamed Blu as he banged his head onto a tree before falling into the ground.
As soon as Jewel heard her fiancee's painful scream, she immediately came flying down to him and lift his neck with her wing. "Are you okay Blu?" she asked.
"I'm…"I'm..I'm…..I'm fine honey" replied a very dizzy Blu in a weak voice.
Jewel studied Blu's condition and decided that he should rest. "Blu, you look you could be a bit dizzy" Jewel concluded "it's been a very long but exciting day that forever changed our lives" She then said to him.
Blu was just too dizzy to continue flying so, Jewel had to had to carry her dizzy fiance back home to their hollow for the rest of the flight back home. Eventually, when they did reach home, Jewel laid Blu down on a little nest she built for him so he would be able to rest for the night before giving him a melon that the couple have stored in the hollow by slicing it in half with her talons before giving it to her Fiance'.
"Here Blu" Jewel sweetly said to Blu. "This melon will make you feel a lot better and snap you out your dizziness".
"Thanks Jewel" said Blu in a more weakly voice. "I was just thinking about where our wedding was was going to take place" he then said before eating the melon Jewel urgently served to him.
Jewel saw that Blu was getting better enough to explain why he crashed into the tree in the first place because he was thinking to much about the wedding in terms of where it would be which made Jewel smile as thoughts of the wedding made think of it more and more.
"I know you are so excited about the wedding" said Jewel "but, we can talk more about wedding plans in the morning since everybody is going to help us out with it" she then explained. "Right now, it's late and we do not want to disappoint everyone tomorrow" She said to Blu.
"Okay Jewel" he then said in a much better voice "Goodnight love" he then said sweetly to her.
"Good night love" Jewel said back.
Blu slept peacefully knowing that he had accomplished so much in just a single day alone. Lying next to his beloved bride to be, he was able to hear her heart beat before wrapping his wrings around her and snuggling next to the light blue macaw.
In his dreams though, he pictured himself awaiting for his bride-to-be at the altar as she managed to make her way down the isle in a lush tropical garden. She was wearing a white white veil on her head with two white orchids on the side while carrying a bouquet of pink orchids.
"Oh my heavens" Blu said to himself "She is the most beautiful bride I have ever seen" he joyfully said to himself as he continued to gaze at his bride while she made her way down the aisle.
However, as Jewel made her way down the aisle, a white figure appeared before her. It was not just any white figure, it was a very familiar face who was last seen a month early. To Blu's horror, it was Nigel and he was there to give Blu a very intimidating message.
"Long time no see" sadistically greeted the ragged looking cockatoo. "I see it's your very special day today but I'm afraid that the guests have got themselves into trouble at the ceremony"
Blu looked around to see what Nigel was talking about and his own horror, he saw that all of his friends were not only chained to each other, but also they were in cages and fighting to break free from them.
"Sweet heavens no" Blu gasped in horror "Why did you do to them?" He asked "Where's my bride Jewel?"
Nigel then took Blu over to the left side of the altar where a cage covered by a white sheet stood and made Blu unveil the sheet which would reveal a chained-up Jewel who was chained to the cage that she was trapped in. Just to make matters worst, her right wing and left leg both looked broken as she was unable to move nor try to break free from the cage.
"Blu, you don't know my past" sadly cried Jewel as she stood hopeless in the cage.
A horrified Blu turned to Nigel with great anger for what he had done to Jewel "Nigel, why did you do this to Jewel?" the dark blue spix macaw asked.
"Because you failed to know about her past" answered Nigel as he gave Blu a heartless laugh.
"What past are you talking about?" asked Blu in a sad and fearful manner.
"Only you will be able to find out blue bird" Nigel answered as he began to fly towards Blu, snatching him by the his neck before throwing him violently into the cage.
"Please Nigel stop it, stop it, stop this right now" Blu cried as he was being thrown into the cage. Before long, Blu awoke from the start to only realize that it was nothing more than just a dream as he saw Jewel lying next to him.
"Thank goodness it was just a dream" sighted Blu who place a good wing around his fiance'. "It was one of those bad wedding dreams you get when you first get engage to someone" he then said to himself before falling back to sleep.
The Next morning
The following morning, Blu and Jewel woke up to start a whole new day as they get ready to to meet up with Rafael and Eva as they promised to help them plan their wedding individually.
"Did you sleep well last night my groom?" Asked Jewel stoking her fiancee's wing.
The question caused Blu to freeze for a moment as he tried to process the awful dream he had about Jewel the night before "What did Nigel meant that I failed to know about her past? Did she have a bad childhood or something" he thought. "Yes, yes, I did sleep good last night" lied Blu nodding his head up and down.
"Great" smiled Jewel. "Because we are to meet up with Rafael and Eva today because they are going to help us plan the wedding and maybe afterward, we could meet up with Nico and Pedro to see if they could come up with some music that they could have played during the ceremony" she then said as she walked to the edge of the hollow to take off.
Blu soon joined Jewel at the edge of the hollow before the two spix macaws took flight from their home to meet up with their two toucan friends. They would eventually meet up with Rafael and Eva at the local fruit market where Nico and Pedro's samba club was. There, the four birds began to talk about doing one-on-one time on wedding plans.
"Jewel, I will help you get everything ready to be a bride on your special day" said Eva as the knell-billed toucan put a wing around her macaw friend.
"Thank you Eva, I look forward to doing some wedding planning with you" smiled Jewel. While she was very happy about getting ready to make plans for her big day, deep inside, something else was missing from the day-It was her parents, and she truly wished for them to be here, but the sad truth was, they were never going to see her walk down the isle. However, it was now a good thing that she had Eva as not only a friend who could help her plan the wedding, but also, be there on the big day. So, for Jewel, the only thing she could do about the absence of her parents from being at the wedding was to carry on and look forward to her future with Blu.
"Anytime Jewel, my friend". Eva replied.
So, the two birds went off to do some bridal-centered planning for the wedding. Meanwhile, Rafael and Blu remained at the market where the continued to talk about the wedding before Blu brought up the dream he had about Jewel the night before.
"I had this terrifying dream about Jewel last night" Blu said sighing at his toucan friend.
"What do you mean as in a terrifying dream about Jewel?" Rafael asked.
"Well, it was something about not knowing about her past and Nigel had her and everyone else locked up in cages and..."Blu replied to Rafael before the toco toucan put a good wing on his shoulder in order to reassure him.
"Blu, friend," Rafael said as he spoke him while looking at him in the eye, "You have to remember that it was only just a dream and it should have really no impact on you and Jewel what so ever. I know that the last month for you and Jewel was only focusing on having her fully recover from her wing injury and it was there, you guys were to share so much about yourselves with each other, so there is no need to worry about your relationship for all that matters now that you guys have a future together and don't ever forget that" Rafael said as he continued to reassure Blu, who was taking every word his friend was saying to him.
"But Rafael" Blu protested.
"No buts" Rafael said, "You think too much and you can save your dream for when you and Jewel have lone time together after making some wedding arrangements."
"Okay Rafael" Blu nodded now that he put his nightmare aside for now so that he could start thinking about planning his and Jewel's big day. "Let's start planning this wedding right now" He then said smiling.
So the two birds flew off to begin the wedding planning process.
Sorry it took me a full year to update this due to school and an internship. It was also during that time span, I was able to come up with a few ideas for this story just so I could keep it on course as I can. Just keep in mind that I promise you guys that nothing bad is going to happen with Blu and Jewel's relationship.
