Meredith
She had dreams every night where they invaded her head.
She couldn't take it. The feeling of no control. It consumed her mind constantly.
She never wanted to feel like that again.
Hot water cascaded down her body as she just stood there.
She closed her eyes and remembered his voice.
Your head is mine now.
"No," Meredith whispered and slid down the wall until she landed on the bathroom floor. "Get out. Get out of my head!"
She slammed her head hard against the wall and the door flew open.
"Meredith?" Derek asked, walking into the bathroom where she was curled up on the floor of the shower.
There was blood dripping down the corner of her head, rinsing down the bathroom drain with the water. "They're in my head. I can feel it! I can hear the voices! Derek you have to get them out!"
Izzie
She woke up and found Alex watching her.
"Good morning Iz."
"Hey. You're looking happy this morning. How are you feeling?" Izzie whispered.
Their faces were inches apart as they lay in the bed together.
"I'm feeling better. I don't start back up at work until Monday. We've got the whole house to ourselves today. I'm whole and healed. Maybe we could-
Izzie understood what he was saying immediately and her smile fell.
"Alex, I can't," she said.
She wanted to.
"But why?"
"Because I can't," she repeated.
"What do you mean you can't? Babe, talk to me."
"I just can't!"
"But why? Izzie-"
"Because I don't deserve you!"
She rolled over in the bed, hiding the tears that ran down her face.
Alex was silent for a long time, and then she felt the bed shift.
A moment later, he was kneeling down in front of her. "Yes you do. I don't deserve you," he whispered.
"I left you."
"I told you to leave me."
"I'm an idiot."
"I know. But so am I. So is everybody. You're also smart and beautiful. You're the first thing I think about when I get up in the morning, and the last thing I think about at night."
Izzie smiled softly and Alex touched her cheek.
"Iz?"
"Hmm?"
"I'm gonna kiss you now."
Izzie smiled and leaned in to kiss him. He climbed back onto the bed with her.
"Then I'm going to take off your shirt," she said and did just that.
Alex smirked and allowed her to.
They started off rough and greedy, but Izzie stopped them. "Let's take this slow," she said.
And they did.
Cristina
She paced back and forth in front of the door.
She reached out her hand, and then pulled it back, afraid to touch the knob.
It opened in front of her and nearly hit her. Owen froze when he saw her there, and she pulled him in and slammed the door shut.
"Where the hell have you been?" Cristina demanded.
"I just went to get the mail. Everything's okay," Owen said. "What's wrong?"
"You could have been killed!"
"Cristina, what are you talking about?"
"The world is out to get us Owen. You need to be more careful!"
"Cristina, Garry Clark is gone. We are safe now. You know that."
"Just stay in the house," she said through clenched teeth, and locked the front door.
Lexie
She crossed off the day on the calendar.
It had been exactly three months since they got back.
She had moved in with Mark, afraid to sleep by herself, afraid to be away from him.
She had barely made it out alive. Part of her was still on that island.
Dead Island.
"Good morning Lex-
"Ah!" Lexie shrieked, spinning around.
"Hey, hey hey. It's just me," Mark said, throwing his hands up in the air, defensively.
She let out a loud breath. "O-okay... just don't sneak up on me again, okay?"
Lexie's eyes were dark and empty. "Lex, is there something you aren't telling me?"
Lexie looked up into Mark's eyes for a moment, nearly saying something before quickly shaking her head. "Nothing! Nothing. It's... it's nothing."
She turned and walked out the door before he could see the tears running down her cheeks.
None of this was over.
Meredith
Derek got up to go to the bathroom once the doctor had finished stitching her head.
Alex and Izzie entered the room almost immediately after.
"Really?" Meredith hissed.
"We saw the blood on the bathroom floor and we ran down here. Well technically we drove," Izzie said, nervously. "What happened?"
"I slipped and bumped my head. It's nothing. I'm fine. Iz, could you possibly go home and get me some better clothes? They aren't letting me leaved until the morning. They are observing me."
"Yeah sure. I'll be back in a little while. Alex, will you stay here?"
"Sure."
Alex sat down next to the bed as Izzie left. "That looks nasty," he commented on her stitches.
"Yep," Meredith sighed.
"It's so odd being back here after two months of bed rest at home."
"Yeah. I need to work to keep myself busy," Meredith sighed.
"So how is Dr. Bailey?" Alex asked Meredith.
Her smile faded instantly. "What do you mean? I haven't spoken with her."
"But if you haven't and I haven't... has anybody even heard from her?"
"Come to think of it... no!"
"Oh no," they said at the same time.
Bailey
She stood in the airport, watching the planes take off from out the window like she did every day.
She had to make sense of how it happened.
But it made no sense to her.
