A/N: Wow, it has been a long time. I am very sorry about that. So I lied a little bit in the last chapter, there's not much more Sirius in this chapter. And this chapter is a filler chapter. It's mostly a flashback. The next chapter will speed things up a little bit. Again, sorry about the delay!

RECAP: Harry has been living with Nettie, Remus, and Ziva for about four months. Sirius is free and Dumbledore will be put on trial. Nettie and Remus just got engaged and Remus told her that he and Harry are wizards and that he's a werewolf. Remus was gone the next morning, scared that he would hurt them. Kelly now knows that Harry and Remus are wizards. Harry thinks that he knows where Remus is. On the Tony front, and yes the stories will converge more, he starts going to a social worker. His mom tells her story.

MISTAKE: In the last chapter, Remus says that he was there in August. This is wrong. He would have actually been there in June. In the present, it's the end of April, or beginning of May.

A new character is introduced in this chapter, so I will write a quick bio at the end of the chapter.

Disclaimer: I don't own NCIS or Harry Potter.

Kelly POV

Everyone is running around, calling anyone they can think of to find out if Remus is where they think he is. I think I'm being more of an annoyance than a help, so I go into the bathroom and close the door. Sometimes it helps me to just sit somewhere quiet and think. I sink down onto the small bath mat and shut my eyes, trying to piece everything together.

What my mom told me didn't come as too much of a surprise. To most people, being told that magic exists would mess with what they know to be true. For me, though, it was more confusing before I knew for certain that it existed. Harry keeps doing things that I don't know how he could them without magic. The wind suddenly picking up and pushing DiNozzo, McCadden, and Dudley onto the ground, McCadden falling flat onto the ground with no one moving an inch. It all makes sense.

But there's more to it than that. If I try hard enough, I can change the colors of things around me or get things to float. One time I was sick and tired and I couldn't talk. I wanted to read my favorite story but I couldn't get up. I could barely sit up and I had just wished for my mom to come in so I could ask her for it when the book floated over to me. I thought I was just hallucinating but now I know I wasn't. It's small things that happen like that, changing colors of things, lifting things with just wishing, turning lights on and off, that only make sense with magic.

It's almost as if I've realized who I really am. Rather than feeling weird and confused and angry, I just feel peaceful. In a way, Harry and I have something that only we share. After we find Remus, I'll tell him. I think that he feels it too; the peace and knowledge that we're not freaks, we just have magic.

I open my eyes slowly and get up. I walk into the kitchen and just sit on a chair, waiting for someone to ask me to do something to help. We have to get Remus back.

Remus POV

It looks different than it did when I was last here. The curtains are moldier, which I didn't think was possible, and it seems like a family of termites have made their home in the small chair in the corner. The scratches are still in the outhouse wall exactly where I remember them and the hinges on the door were never replaced. I walk through the three small rooms, and everything fades away. It's as if I've stepped back in time.

"I can't believe we graduated."

"I know, Em, it's really weird. We all have jobs or are going to uni. You know, if you had told me ten years ago that I would be here today, a witch with a job at the DMLE, dating a guy I used to hate-," James had cut her off indignantly but with an obvious smirk, "Hey!"

Lily leaned over and patted James on the cheek teasingly, "Sorry, dislike. Better?" Ailsa shook her head slightly while Lily continued at James' nod, "Well, I would have thought you were crazy. Actually insane."

Emmeline nodded her agreement as she glanced at her watch, "Sorry guys, I have to go. My mom is expecting me by 4:30. I'll see you guys later. Lily, Ail, when do you guys want to go furniture hunting?"

Lily and Ailsa glanced at each other, "Umm, next Thursday? We can apparate over at 9."

"Sounds good. I'll see you all soon. Bye!" Emmeline grabbed her trunk and left with a small pop. We all stayed sitting on our trunks in a small circle.

"Okay, you guys ready to go? Our trans-oceanic Portkey leaves in two hours."

We held on to our trunks and pop away. We landed in a large and ornate garden. Garden gnomes popped out of their holes to glare at us for disturbing their sleep and the flowers turned their petals in our direction before coming to a rest tilted towards the sun. Mrs. Potter, a tall and thin woman with thick gray hair, came over to us, smiling brightly.

"Dory! Oh, Dory, my love! How long it has been!" Sirius ran toward Mrs. Potter and hugged her tightly. She returned the hug with a roll of her eyes, "Hello to you too, Sirius."

"Hey, Padfoot! Stop flirting with my mum!" James said as he walked over a bit more slowly.

"Hi, Jamie. Welcome home," Mrs. Potter smiled and hugged him as he bent down slightly to kiss her cheek.

"Remus, how are you?" She looked at me and smiled. I'd met her a bunch of times over the years. She was a sweet and scary smart woman who certainly couldn't be pushed around; she'd had enough experience working in magical security as a runes and wards creator to deal with anything the Marauders threw at her. Still, Mrs. Potter thought that I was the most responsible of the group and entrusted me with their care when we were out of her sight. Little good that did, but I think she felt better knowing that she tried.

"I'm good, Mrs. Potter, thanks."

"Are you sure, Remus? You look a bit tired. You need to eat more!"

I laughed, "I'm all right."The Potters didn't know that I was a werewolf, although I'm sure that they would have been fine with it. The full moon was in two nights so I'm sure looked a little peaked.

James knew I didn't want her to find out so he threw an arm around his mum, "Mum, stop harassing Remus!" I silently thanked James as Mrs. Potter finished her quick assessment of me.

"I'm not harassing him, just asking. Hello, Peter," Mrs. Potter greeted Peter with a small smile. I don't think she ever felt truly comfortable with him.

Peter smiled and mumbled a quick hello and thank you, but Mrs. Potter had already turned to the next person. "And Lily! How are you my dear?"

"Wonderful. Thank you so much for having us here, Mrs. Potter, even if it is only for a short time," Lily blushed slightly. She'd only met Mrs. Potter once before and I think that she was still slightly nervous. She didn't need to be. The Potters saw how good she was for James, how she helped him to become a better person in so many ways. And they saw how the two would light up in each other's presence.

"Nonsense, it's not a big deal. Plus," she winked, "if you all get too rowdy, I've instructed the house elves to enslave you for dish washing duty. Oh, and you must be Ailsa! Nice to meet you, dear."

Ailsa smiled slightly and shook Mrs. Potter's hand, "Nice to meet you, too, Mrs. Potter. You have a lovely garden."

Mrs. Potter beamed and then beckoned to all of us, "Come in! Come in!"

Flowers covered an arbor that leads into a large house. We walked in to the kitchen and sat around the large table in the center of the room. Mrs. Potter snapped her fingers and a small house elf appeared.

A small house elf appeared wearing a pink dress with crooked stitching and the name "Ellie" embroidered into the corner. The house elf's ears flapped up and down as she saw us, "Master James! Master Sirius!" She ran towards them and hugged their legs tightly.

"Ellie," James sighed, "you don't have to call me 'Master'. James is good enough. You've known me since I was a baby."

Ellie shook her head, "No, you are Master James. And that is Mister Sirius and over there is Mistress Lily and Master Remus-," James cut her off with a nod. "All right, Ellie."

"Mistress Potter, what do you need?" Ellie turned to the head of the household, her eyes shining with the joy of having her two favorite rascals home once more.

Mrs. Potter shook her head, knowing that nothing she could say would change the elf's opinion, "Ellie, could you get us seven glasses of pumpkin juice please? Thank you!" With a small pop, the house elf disappeared only to return a few seconds later with a tray balanced precariously on top of her ears. She floated it down onto the table in front of us.

"Anything else I can do for you, mistress?" Mrs. Potter shook her head, "Thanks, Ellie, but I think we're okay. I'll let you know, yes?"

Mrs. Potter turned to us and we talked about the end of school and exams. She'd been to Hogwarts for our graduation, but there hadn't been much time for talk. Her uncle had just passed away and she was his closest relative. He was an old man who'd only gotten crankier with age and his will seemed to make everyone there remember his sour countenance. According to Mrs. Potter, it was all humdrum except for a few key phrases that you had to read the whole thing to find. Anyway, she and Mr. Potter had to attend to that, so they didn't stay at the castle. They came for graduation, but couldn't stay long.

We talked for a few minutes before a bell sounded and Mr. Potter whooshed down the fireplace. Peter jumped slightly at the sound and started to choke on his drink. I patted him on the back as Mr. Potter came bounding into the room. Mr. Potter had unending energy that seemed to roll off of him. He was almost always happy and his mood was often infectious. He stooped to kiss his wife and greeted us all as he hugged Sirius and James.

"Hello, all! So, when are you off to the adventure of your lives?"

James rolled his eyes good-naturedly at his father's exuberance, "Our portkey leaves in about thirty minutes. We just have to make sure that we have everything together."

He gestures for us to follow him upstairs. We float our bags up and head into one of the many guest rooms that the Potters' have. We open our trunks and pull out the shrunken trunks that hold our things for the trip. For Christmas, the Potters' had told James that he was allowed to go with some friends to the destination of his choosing. James had, obviously, invited the Marauders, but he'd wanted Lily to come along as well. His parents had compromised that she could go if another girl went with her.

Lily had protested, saying that she didn't have to come. She didn't want the Potters' to have to pay for more people to go, but they insisted. They were so proud of their son and everything that he had become and they wanted for him and his friends to have a good time before having to start in the real world. Lily had finally agreed and invited her two best friends, Ailsa Green and Emmeline Vance. Emmeline couldn't go because she had her cousin's wedding, but Ailsa had agreed.

During Easter break, we had all put together most of our things that we would need for the trip and sent it over to the Potters' house.

We quickly took anything we needed from our school trunk and put it in our vacation trunks.

We stowed our school trunks in the closet and floated our bags into the kitchen. James looked over to his mum, "Mum, where's the portkey?"

"It's in the top drawer, dear."

"Thanks, Mum," James replied and pulled out a notebook. The top of the book held a small bookmark. On the cover, the letters 'MITN' were printed. Below it, a small stopwatch counted down. The clock read 7:13.

James looked at all of us and started to explain, "This is a portkey used for some international travel, usually for really long distances or over oceans. It's dangerous to portkey or apparate long distances, so this is like stopping in the middle. Since most of you haven't used this type of portkey before, my mum wanted me to tell you what to expect quickly."

Sirius jumped in quickly, "So here's what you do: open the notebook to your assigned page and set the book on the floor. When the clock hits 0:00, we jump one at a time onto the book. It will take us to a library. Then we all must dance around in a circle before a troll comes to-," Lily rolled her eyes, "Very funny, Sirius."

I smirked, "Paddy, stop it."

"I've told you not to call me Paddy!" Sirius replied indignantly.

"And we've all told you not to try to give everyone headaches."

Mrs. Potter came over to take over this little information session. "Sirius, quiet."

"Yes, Dory, dear," Sirius blew a kiss at Mrs. Potter before getting whacked in the back of the head by Mr. Potter.

"You will all open the page, sign it on the line after your name. At 0:00, hold on and you will be whisked away to the MITN, or Magical International Transportation Network, headquarters. MITN has portkey hubs all over, but you're going to the biggest one. You will land in a room or kiosk. The place is determined by the page in the book you signed. Don't sign different pages or you will be splinched."

Here Mrs. Potter cut off and glared at Sirius. He gave her his best look of innocence and she continued, "The room or kiosk will be where you will get your next portkey to a more specific destination. This basically takes you to what muggles call an airport. From there, there will be a place to give your notebook. They will scan the signatures and if everything is alright, they will give you another portkey to take to your actual destination. The nice thing about this, especially as compared to muggle airports, is that it takes you to the exact place you want to go."

"Umm, Mrs. Potter, how do they decide what room to take us to?" Lily asked.

"Basically, the rooms are for different countries. The size of the room depends on how many people tend to go to that country. For example, the room taking people here is pretty big with a lot of people checking notebooks and distributing portkeys. However, when we went to Zimbabwe, there was only one checker. It was more like a kiosk than a room."

"Two minutes," the notebook said loudly. We all jumped slightly before hugging and thanking the Potters. At the last minute, Mrs. Potter handed us a bag full of food. We each signed the book before the notebook started to blink and the voice said, "Fifteen seconds. Please hold on."

We held on and were quickly whisked away. We landed in a large room with booths all around it. Behind each booth sat a man or woman. Above their heads were signs that said "United States of America" in every language possible. James herded us over to one of booths that didn't have as long of a line. After a few minutes, we got the to the front of the line and James handed the man behind the booth our open notebook. The man checked some lists and wrote some stuff down.

"Identification," he requested without looking up. We got out our IDs and handed them to him. He checked their authenticity and matched the signatures. When he was done, he handed us a handkerchief and tapped it twice. "You have one minute."

We thanked him but he'd already moved on to the next person. The clock counted down and once again we were transported off to a new place. We landed in a clearing surrounded by thick trees. About fifty feet ahead of us, I could see a small but beautiful lake. To the right of the lake sat a log cabin. It had a chimney on the side and a fire pit outside. Besides the six of us, there was no trace that any person had been there in months.

James smiled and nodded to the cabin, "My parents bought this cabin right before they were married. They told me that they loved to just sit and watch the stars at night. We haven't been here since I was six, maybe seven. Come on, let's get set up."

Sirius waggled his eyebrows, "Alone before they were married, eh Prongs? You really think they were just sitting and watching the stars? I can think of many more, ah, enjoyable activities they could have done under the stars."

James was so used to this type of comment that it barely bothered him. He just snorted, "Well, sure, but that's twenty times classier and more romantic than anything you've ever done."

"Hey!" Sirius protested, "I can be plenty romantic. Remember that one time that I took that girl to, you know the place! Wormy, help me out. You remember!"

Peter looked at me and shook his head, "Nope. What about you Remus?"

"Can't say I remember that time, Padfoot. Care to be more specific? Maybe I can help you out if you can tell me the name of the girl…" I trailed off, looking expectantly at Sirius.

There was no answer so I continue, "her house… what year she was…"

All of a sudden, a giggle burst out from behind me, "Really, Sirius?! You've taken out, like, every girl in Hogwarts within a two year range on either side and you can't think of one time that you've done something romantic?"

"Yeah, like you're much better," Lily teased.

Ailsa glared playfully at Lily, "At least I can remember who I've gone out with. I just haven't found anyone I actually want to date."

"All right, calm down boys and girls," James began. "We have now reached our home for the next week."

With a sweep of his hand, he unlocked and opened the door, "Welcome to the Potters' Yellowstone National Park cottage. We will now begin the house tour of a lifetime."

I walked into the cabin and was immediately hit by the strong smell of must and mildew. I wrinkled by nose slightly and saw that the others were hit by the same smell.

"Sure," I heard Peter mutter. "It'll be the tour of a lifetime, 'cause it'll be the last we every experience. We're going to choke on all this mold. And we can't even use magic!"

I rolled my eyes and elbowed him, "Come on, Pete. It'll be fun. Remember, the Potters decided that when they were here, they wouldn't use magic. We all decided to do the same. No magic here. Just us and nature. Well, that and a few muggle appliances."

We put our stuff down and looked around as James chatted about everything.

I stopped listening and just walked around. The front door opened into a room with a threadbare couch, a rickety chair and a beautiful fireplace. Behind this room and a step down was the kitchen. There was a small sink, a stove, an oven and a refrigerator. There was a round table with eight chairs and some plates, bowls, cups, and silverware. A door at the back opened to a path that led to a tiny but clean outhouse. To the right of the front room was the largest room of the three. It had a bed and a little cot on a huge rug. In the corner was a door to a small closet.

"And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the tour!" James finished with a flourish.

Lily raised her eyebrows but clapped good-naturedly. "Okay, so where are we all sleeping? Sirius, no comment from you."

Sirius nodded, "Yes ma'am."

"The two girls can sleep on the bed and the rest of us can sleep on the floor, I guess. There are blankets and sleeping bags in the closet," James shrugs. "How does that sound to everyone?"

After dinner, we all sat down and pulled out some maps of Yellowstone that the Potters' had given to us. We decided to do the Mount Washburn hike, a moderate 6.4 mile hike that would let us get acclimated and look out over the amazing views. I knew that I wouldn't be able to do anything extremely strenuous because that night I would transform and I never felt well just beforehand. We were there for a week and knew that we could do some of the harder hikes once I felt better and we were used to the altitude.

We did the hike the next day and got back to the cabin by around 4. I was worn out because of the full moon, but everyone else wasn't feeling too tired.

That night, we got ready for the full moon. There was enough space around the cabin where no other people were that we felt safe running around. Plus, all of our animagi were animals that weren't too suspicious around here. We ate dinner about an hour before the moon was set to rise. When we were finished eating, Ailsa and Lily smiled, "You guys go. We'll do the dishes tonight. We'll have some girl time."

Lily had known I was a werewolf for years, while Ailsa had only learned recently. Lily was a doe animagus and usually ran with us, but she decided to just spend time with Ailsa that night so that she wouldn't be alone. They would see us in the morning.

Third Person POV

The Marauders were ready to transform as the moon rose. Remus howled into the night as his body changed. Hair grew out of his body and his hands turned into claws. He growled loudly and violently at the dog and stag that flanked him. They in turn growled back, and the animals began to chase each other. The little rat ran too and fro, following the other three.

The animagi and the werewolf soon got out of hand. For some reason, the moon had affected the werewolf more than normal that night.

He bit back, growled, and struck repeatedly at the dog. Suddenly, the dog realized that they were getting close to the cabin. He whined to the stag, trying to get him to see what was going on. They had to keep him away.

The stag ran to the right side of the werewolf, forcing him to move to the left. The dog moved accordingly, helping to guide the werewolf. But soon, the wolf's irritation grew. He leapt at the animals and raced back towards the cabin.

The stag sprinted ahead, forcing the werewolf backwards until he felt something behind him. It was a small building that had funny smells. The werewolf attacked the building, ripping the door from its hinges and scratching at the walls. The dog, stag, and rat soon forced the werewolf even further into the woods for the reminder of the long night.

Remus POV

Since it was the day after the full moon, no one rushed the wake up early. When I finally woke up the next morning, sore and stiff, Peter was then only one still asleep. I groggily got dressed and then headed slowly into the kitchen where I could hear voices.

Lily, James, Sirius, and Ailsa were sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee and tea while discussing what to have for breakfast. When I came in, I saw Lily look at me with concern, "How are you feeling, Remus? James said it was harder than normal last night."

"I'm okay. Sore and tired, but okay. Sorry about that, James. Was anyone hurt?" I asked.

James shrugged, "Nope, don't worry. Actaully, Sirius and I actually had fun. Although, was it necessary to tear apart the outhouse," James teases, "We may have to break the no magic rule to fix the door."

Ailsa squeezes my hand. I reminded myself how lucky I was to have friends like this, supportive, but not hovering.

I smiled tightly, relieved that I didn't hurt anyone the night before. I poured myself a cup of mint tea as the four of them went back to their breakfast conversation.

"James, do you have any recipe books here?" Ailsa asked.

James shrugged, "I don't know. I just did what my mom told me to do." He reached for his wand to summon a cookbook when Lily's hand covered his own, "No magic, remember?"

He stuck his tongue out at her but put his wand away and walked over to a cabinet and rummaged around. "Ah ha! Here is one called 'The Settlement Cookbook'. Now, what do we want to make from here? We have ingredients for most of the breakfast recipes."

All of a sudden, Sirius' face lit up, "Pancakes! We should have pancakes."

Lily nods, "That sounds good. I can make some."

Sirius shakes his head, "No, my dear Lily-pad. Prongsie, Moony, Wormtail and I will be living on our own soon and must learn to cook. To that end," Sirius continued with a flourish, "I will make the most spectacular breakfast known to man and Prongs will be my apprentice. Prongsie, let's do this. Let's make the best damn breakfast ever."

And so began the cooking adventure. They found a recipe for pancakes in the cookbook and started to put the ingredients together. Sirius found a pink apron for himself to wear and a smaller green one with Winnie the Pooh on it. He handed this second one to James, who looked at it with a mix of disgust and fondness.

Groaning, James slipped the apron over his head. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Lily trying to hold in her laughter at seeing her 6' 2", Quidditch player boyfriend wearing an apron meant for four or five year old boys.

James mock glared at her, "No laughing! Really! There will be retribution!" Lily tried and failed to hold in her laughter any longer. Through her gasps, we could make out her saying, "I wish I had a camera!"

Sirius shook a wooden spoon at Lily, "No laughing or no pancakes for you."

She finally finished giggling, "Fine, fine. I'm going to go wake Peter."

Lily walked out of the room as James and Sirius started to look at the recipe. They got out all of the ingredients and started to mix everything together.

A few minutes later, it was evident that Sirius and James couldn't cook as batter flew everywhere, getting on the walls, on their aprons, and in their hair. Luckily, the rest of us were far enough away to avoid most of the splatter.

"I'm not sure how much batter is actually going to be used for pancakes. It might be all gone by the time they get to that step," I said.

Lily looked at Peter and me, "Please tell me that you two are better cooks or you four are getting cooking lessons. If not, you guys are never going to eat."

"I can cook, don't worry Lil," I smiled.

"Hey!" James protested. "We can cook very well, thank you very much!"

"Yes," Lily replied, somehow with a straight face, "your cooking prowess is evident from the batter in your hair. Hey, I think you might actually have some in your ear. How'd you manage to do that?"

"We're just a little… messy," Sirius defended with a smile.

"Sure," Lily smirked. She brought out a camera that she had grabbed while waking Peter and snaps a few pictures of the men 'cooking'. She made sure to get their aprons and the mess of the kitchen.

"Lily, can we all have copies," Peter asked.

"Sure. I'll get them printed at the end of the trip. Don't worry James, Sirius, we will never forget this moment. I will treasure these pictures forever," Lily said, wiping her eyes teasingly.

All of a sudden, I saw Sirius's eyes light up with mischief. I groan, "Sirius, don't do whatever you're about to-."

I was cut off Sirius grabbing a bowl of flour and raising his spoon with a war cry. "Lily, you have insulted us one time too many. There will be revenge."

He launched himself at Lily and began to throw flour at her. James joined in and within no time, there was an all out flour war. It was James, Sirius and Peter versus Lily, Ailsa, and myself.

After a few minutes, we were all choking on flour as we laughed our heads off. Each of us was covered in white powder, with it in our hair and on our faces and our clothes. Sirius and James looked at each other and at the same time said, "Mischief Managed."

The kitchen calmed down after a few pictures of our floury mess and the slightly lumpy pancakes began to sizzle in the pan. Sirius flipped the first, landing in neatly on the stove. Just not in the pan. He was much better after that and the pancakes tasted pretty good. After we had finished eating, we sat around just talking. James sat down on the rickety chair in the corner and pulled Lily down onto the chair with him. They were laughing about something as she wiped some remaining flour on his face. Their love was evident on their faces. I sat at the table, deep in thought. I was comfortable. I felt safe. I felt at home.

That was the last time that I truly felt safe and comfortable, happy with who I was and safe in the thought that I could a good person and a werewolf, they wren't mutually exclusive. I was so lucky to have friends like that. Friends that accepted me for me. Friends that cared and loved and laughed. Our lives all changed soon after. About an hour later, an emergency owl arrived. We received notice that the Potters had been killed, and nothing was the same again.

A tear rolls down my cheek as I bury my head in my hands. What have I done?

Harry POV

"Sirius, Sirius!" I run into Remus' room and grab the mirror. Nettie and Gibbs follow close behind. They close the door so that Ziva doesn't see.

A few seconds later, Sirius' haggard face appears in the mirror, "Harry!" He smiles longingly and then his eyes glaze over, seemingly stuck in the past.

"Sirius…" I say slowly. He comes out of his reverie with a shake of the head, "Have you guys found Remus?"

"No," I respond, "but I know where he is. And we're going to need your help."

A/N: I wanted to end here for today, but the next part will be up soon.

Ailsa Green-Weiss: Ailsa is a half-blood witch and one of Lily's best friends. During the First Wizarding War, she fought with the Order. About a year before Lily and James got married, she got married and became pregnant four months later. She was hurt in a raid and lost the child, prompting her and her husband to move to South Africa to escape all of it. When the Potters went into hiding, they broke off contact to protect both families. She was not written into the will because she lived so far away from everyone else they knew.
