Chapter 15: the battle for the glory part 2

After Annabeth's challenge and declaration of war against the Romans, the demigods begun to split into three groups and those groups were the Romans which were consist of Octavian's lackeys, the second were the Greeks which were consist of Annabeth's group of supporters, and lastly the neutral team that were consist of Roman and Greek demigods that didn't want to take any part on the fight.

On Olympus the gods begun to put their bets on the team they favored for. Hermes, Apollo and Hephaestus were rooting for the Greeks. Hermes because he said he had more kids in his Greek form than his Roman form, Apollo said he was rooting for the Greeks because they are more awesome and Hephaestus because Ares was rooting for opposite team. While Ares was the only one rooting for the Romans the others like Percy, Poseidon, Zeus and Dionysius decided to not take part of this ridiculous gambling and on the goddesses' part they just didn't care although Athena was secretly rooting for the Greek demigods because of her daughter.

At camp Half-blood

The whole camp was quiet the only thing that can be heard are the whooshing sound of the wind against the trees that blocks its path.

Almost all the demigods were at the Arena waiting in anticipation on how the battle will began. Percy tried to convince the demigods to stop this nonsense but Octavian and his lackeys won't listen to him and the same can be said to the other group, both groups were determine to prove they were superior than the other.

Then some of the gods namely Ares, Apollo and Hermes convinced the other gods to just let the demigods be, saying that the two groups needed this for them to attain "closure" although on Ares part he just want war and blood and this ruckus can give him what he want.

Finally the other gods decided to let the demigods fight with one condition they will be the one to decide how the two teams would fight.

It was decided that the two teams must select 5 fighters on their group. The battle will be the last man stand. Killing wasn't allowed but maiming can be done, the fight will begin with each team sending one fighter that will enter the Arena. The fighters from each team will fight the other. The one who will win will fight the next demigod that the other team will choose in other words the fighter will only be replace once he/she losses the fight. The winning team will be determined once the other team didn't have/had any fighters left.

This kind of battle was design to lessen the casualties the fight might cause in both camps.

Octavian's group and Annabeth's group eagerly agreed to the god's decision and choice of battle.

The Greeks or known as Annabeth's team had chosen Annabeth daughter of Athena and the leader of camp half blood. Annabeth is tall, fit, and athletic and has a curly golden blonde hair like a princess and eyes with the color intense shade of grey. Next was Clarisse daughter of Ares. Clarisse is big, tall girl with short and ragged stringy dirty blonde\brown hair, pig-like brown eyes. She is also known as the councilor of the Ares cabin. And the other three that were chosen are Jake Mason son of Hephaestus, Sherman son of Ares and Shane son of Hephaestus as their fighters.

While the Roman's had chosen Octavian Roman legacy of Apollo and the Augur of Camp Jupiter, and four sons of mars who were known for being a strong warrior in New Rome.

The two teams take their position on the opposite sides of the Arena eagerly waiting for the gods to arrive and start the brawl.

After some minutes one by one the gods started to arrive. Apollo was the first one to show up winking at his children and then sitting at his respective seat, it wasn't even a minute when Hermes showed up and joining Apollo. After Hermes showed up the other gods started to flash themselves on their respective seat and so was the goddesses. From her seat Athena gave Annabeth a stiff nod as her way of saying good luck.

After everyone had settled Zeus begun to remind the fighters about the rules giving emphasis on the "maiming is allowed but killing your opponent was strictly prohibited and those who will defy it will not be judge in the underworld, and instead they will be send to the fields of punishment in a blink of an eye"

Almost every single demigod either gulp or sweat on the king of the gods threat, and almost all the Romans look at Octavian's group with a knowing look. They all knew Octavian would never hesitate on killing someone who will stand in his way, he had done it before and they were sure he will do it again but if he do so they just hope he wasn't foolish enough to do it in the presence of the gods with a threat lying above his head.

After Zeus speech he had called the first fighters of both teams.

Annabeth's group had chosen Shane a son of Hephaestus to be their first fighter while the Octavian had chosen Dominic a son of mars.

Shane and Dominic started to come forward until they were 2 meters away from each other. Shane was holding his bronze sword that is a good 5 foot tall double-edged sword while Dominic was holding his own sword made from Imperial gold which were about the same length as Shane.

They both raised their swords on a shoulder level stance and encircled each other waiting for the right moment to attach. Dominic made his first move stepping his right foot forward and thrusting for the kill but Shane had predicted the move he raised his guard both of his hands holding his sword, his sword blade is pointing outside his right foot and slightly forward making a complete hanging guard. As Dominic's sword connects with Shane's sword Shane begun his counter attack by pushing Dominic's sword upward making Dominic an open target.

Shane then swings his sword towards Dominic who luckily slip-up backwards making him land on his butt. Shane attack almost got him lost his right arm.

Shane had waited for Dominic to get on his feet and when he did Shane start his attack once more he swing his sword with his both hands making Dominic raised his sword to defend himself.

Shane continued to push Dominic back giving all his might in every strike he makes. Shane being a son of Hephaestus was used to pounding metals with so much force has the advantage. Shane attacks are too heavy making Dominic's hands go numb and his to knees to go weak. With Shane's one more strike Dominic's hands finally reach their limit making him lost his grip on his sword. Shane twisted his sword flat hitting Dominic on his shoulder. Dominic bends on his knees because of the impact.

Dominic without any more strength left to fight admitted his defeat making Ares frown at his son while causing Hephaestus smirk in triumph.

After Dominic admitted his defeat the other two members of Octavian's team approach him and help him get to their side of the Arena. Francis another son of Mars started to go in the middle of the Arena.

As the rules of the fight says that the winner will have to remain and fight the next opponent Shane will still have to fight.

Francis had a 4 foot tall imperial gold sphere and shield. Shane is panting heavily from his first fight but still holding his sword high enough to indicate he will not back down from the fight.

Unlike the first fight Shane didn't wait for his opponent to attack first instead he raised his sword and dash towards Francis swinging his sword down ward with full strength aiming at Francis left shoulder. Shane's attack was block by Francis shield making him stumbling backwards Francis then thrust his sphere onto Shane's left shoulder. Francis attack impale on Shane's shoulder making the son of Hephaestus kneel and cry out in pain as Francis twisted his sphere.

Shane was too exhausted from the first fight and having been impaled by a sphere on his left shoulder try to open up his mouth to admit his defeat but before he can speak Francis slam his shield on to Shane's head knocking him out.

Hephaestus growl in anger but Octavian's supporters cheered so loudly masking the said god's growl. Ares smirked at Hephaestus making Hephaestus grip on his arm chair harder.

Francis pulled out his sphere from Shane's shoulder raising it and yelled for the Romans to cheer louder which Octavian's supporters gladly complied to.

Octavian smirks mockingly at Annabeth when she, Clarisse, Sherman and Jake carry Shane on their side of the Arena. Jake started walk ready to fight Francis but Annabeth's hand on his shoulder stop him. Jake looked at Francis with a murderous glare then he shifted his gaze at Annabeth his gaze soften a little bit but he was still angry at Francis. Annabeth shakes her head then said "You can't fight him with your head full of hatred and revenge" Jake was about to protest when Annabeth held up her hand and said "Let Sherman do the work I'm sure he will gladly do the revenge for you and besides if they want blood a son of Ares will surely give them the blood they want" Jake was about to protest but he knew Annabeth was right so he just nodded.

Annabeth then called for the Apollo cabin's assistance to heal Shane.

Sherman then pick up his 5 foot tall bronze sword and shield and started to approach Francis wearing a sadistic grin.

When Sherman was in a 2 meter distance towards Francis Sherman made his dash slamming his own shield at Francis shield. Francis hasn't anticipated that kind of attack from Sherman had taken a step backward. Sherman raised his shied to block Francis way of sight. Sherman then slashes Francis legs with his sword.

Francis once again took a step back away from Sherman but Sherman was having none of that. Sherman continued his tactic by slamming his shield at Francis shield then blocks his opponent way of sight with his shield and then stabs him in his legs, arms and shoulders.

Sherman didn't give any opportunity for Francis to fight back, He impaled his sword onto Francis Knee making the Roman demigod rolled of the ground while clutching on his bleeding knee and crying out in pain. The wound that Sherman had cause on Francis knee may cause him to not be able to walk without using crutches again.

Octavian yelled at the gods "He's defying the rules!" Sherman was about to retort but Annabeth beat him to it "No his not! The rules had said killing was not allowed but maiming can be done"

Octavian was now seething in anger he was about to speak back at the daughter of Minerva but a hand on his shoulder stop him he looked back at his friend who just shakes his head and said "you won't win against a daughter of the wisdom goddess besides she was right"

Octavian then shoves his friends hand away from his shoulder and just looks at the ground he knew his friend was right.

Robert seeing his brother howl in pain makes him mad but he knew better than to let that hatred cloud onto his head. Robert then picked up his sphere, and then he asked some of the Romans to take Francis on their side of the Arena and heal him.

Robert then approaches Sherman who was waiting for him patiently in the middle of the Arena. Then Robert said "your style of fighting won't work on me, hiding behind that shield of yours is an act of cowardice for a Son of Mars"

Sherman just smirks and said "sorry to burst your bubble but I'm not a son of Mars but a Son of Ares and besides using a shield as a weapon isn't an act of cowardice, and you said you could beat me? Well then prove it"

Robert then kneel on the ground brushing his hand on it then suddenly he ran towards Sherman then jump and threw some stones at Sherman for distraction and Sherman raised his shield up blocking the pebbles and at the same time blocking his way of sight when Sherman remove his shield away from his line of sight then he was greeted by Roberts sphere aiming at his head.

Sherman tries to dodge Roberts attack making it piece on his right shoulder. Sherman let go of his shield then gruntingly he removed the Sphere from his shoulder then throw it in the ground. Sherman then said "Well I guess you're not all talk but if you think you had defeated me already I'm telling you now our fight is just getting started"

Robert then picked up his sphere on the ground then said "Enough talk let's just get this over".

Robert made a thrust with his sphere but Sherman divert the sphere's direction using his sword making the sphere impale to the ground Sherman used this as an opening and thrust his sword at Robert's right arm then suddenly the ground begun to tremble the sound of the conch horn can be heard then one of the campers who were assigned to patrol the camp yelled "Were under attack!".

All the demigods started to run carrying their weapons lining up in the middle of the arena. All of the demigods wear the same expression fear and anxiety. They didn't expect an attack too soon, they hadn't even form a battle plan and they were so wrap up on fighting one another and the gods were fully aware of that.

The demigods patiently wait for the gods to command them. Then Zeus glances at Athena silently asking her to form a plan and Athena nodded. Athena Sharply begun to turn her gaze at the demigods with a hard look on her face she begun to take command and assign each demigods to their stations.

"All Greek Apollo demigods you are all assign to be a medic in this battle and for the Roman Apollo demigods you are assign at the back of our defense, you are all assigned to take our offense in terms of the long range attacks."

Athena then turns her gaze at Artemis then Artemis nodded. A small Smile made its way on Athena's lips but it was gone as quickly as she returns her gaze back to the demigods

"The hunters of Artemis will help you at in this as well"

"…"

"All Hermes, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Demeter Mercury, Vulcan, Venus and Ceres demigods you are all assigned to prepare traps and other weapons that will help us in this battle."

"…"

"And to the other demigods all of you must defend the camp from the enemies now go to your positions"

"…"

The demigods began to run to do their designated places to do their designated jobs. And when all the demigods were gone from the arena

Athena faces the other gods and said "We aren't prepared for this kind of attack we must assist our children in this battle" All the gods and Goddess nodded at her and left to help the demigods.

And when all the gods and goddesses left except for Percy and Artemis, Artemis tugged Percy's Armor and said "Percy just in case we didn't survive this battle I want you to know that I'm really glad that I had met you."

Percy's eyes soften and smiled at Artemis as he held her hand he said "Yeah Me too and I'm glad because you filled the missing part of my life since Annabeth had left me, I love you Artemis"

Artemis returned Percy's smile and said "I love you too idiot, now come on we got a war to fight"

Ok guys I know that the ending was a cliffhanger and most definitely not a satisfactory for everyone

I have my own explanation for it first was I had reread this story and it's terrible absolutely terrible. So terrible that it makes me wonder why it reaches a 100 and above favorites and follows. But please don't misunderstand me, I'm really grateful for those who had chosen to follow and favorite me till now.

Second this story was supposed to end on chapter six but I guess I got too worked up that I continued this story even it goes against the plot that I had made for it in the first place.

Third was my awesome laziness oh yes I admit that I'm lazy.

Fourth was that the title of the story wasn't fit for it anymore and I know why not changed it? Well the answer is I can't why? Because this story was known for its title and even if it was terrible even for me, maybe just maybe some fella might look for it again and then they might not be able to see it again.. and then you can get the point there.

Fifth was because I got a lot of PM saying that this story was a trash and I should just delete it and yeah I guess it was but still it hurts when some people rub it on to my face especially if they haven't even written anything decent.

Last but not the least I'm a busy kind of guy and because this story hasn't won the poll that I had created, I decided to just end it like it is.

But don't worry this story might be over but I never said that I'm not open to make a sequel although it might take long but I think I can make it ^_^

I was really grateful to those who had followed, favorite and reviewed on this story I'll try my best to finished up my unfinished stories so that I can start working my lazy butt on creating a sequel for this. :D
