Took a deep breath in the mirror
Hermione stood in front of the mirror in Ginny's room one final time, taking in her appearance. She remember the look on her mother's face when she had originally tired this dress on. The way her eyes and filled with tears. The gown really was breath taking. It was floor length ivory dress, with a lace bodice and, per Fred's request, a purple and orange striped ribbon laced up the back. She smiled as she lifted the hem, and seen her mother's own wedding shoes. She sighed as she recalled the last time she had done this. Ron had insisted she wore flats. He didn't want her to be taller than him. Not that he even got to see her wear them. Hermione smirked slightly at the thought of how much happier she was today than she was the day she had fallen back in time. The day she had fallen into Fred, really.
He didn't like it when I wore high heels, but I do
Turn the lock and put my head phones one, he always said he did get this song but I do, I do
Hermione thought back over the time she had repeated. How things had changed so drastically. She absently wondered if this was what future Hermione had wanted. If something had gone wrong with her and Ron. Things had always been easier with Fred.
She couldn't but to think back to their first actual date.
Walked in expecting you'd be late, but you got here early and you stand and wait
And I walk to you. You pulled my chair out and helped me in, and you don't know nice that is but I do
She walked across the room to peak out at the garden below. Mrs. Weasley had wanted to go all out, like she had for Fleur and Bill, but Hermione and Fred had insisted on only close friends and family. She smiled as she seen Fred talking with his brothers and Lee, all who wore brightly colored suit jackets. Fred had been insistent, also unlike the Fleur and Bill's, everyone could dress as they wanted. They had opted for muggle attire in the wizard world. It seemed fitting, to throw a little of her past into their future. He had shed his rather classic black jacket at some point, and looked extremely handsome in his purple button down, even though he was donning an orange tie with it. He stood and looked directly up her. He began laughing, before waving up at her spying on her.
And you throw your head back laughing like a little kid
I think it's strange that you think I'm funny because he never did
She thought back to all the time she had spent chasing the wrong red head as she waved back and stepped away from the window. Ron would have chastised her for being nosy. He didn't think it was cute, or silly. He seemed much more at ease with Lavender though. Hermione had to roll her eyes when she thought of Ron and herself being together now. Of how simply wrong for each other they were. It seemed ridiculous now, all the time she had spent moping around about them before. She sighed and risked one last look in the mirror before beginning her venture down the stairs.
I've spent the last eight months thinking all love does is break and burn and end
But on a Wednesday, in a café, I watched it begin again
She heard their song reach its end as she got closer to the garden. Hermione loved James Taylor. They both did honestly. It had been Fred's idea to play it before their wedding song.
You said you never met one girl who has as many James Taylor records as you, but I do
We tell stories and you don't know why I'm coming off a little shy, but I do
She now stood in front of the door that led to the garden. She took a deep breath and waited for her dad to join her.
But you throw your head back laughing like a little kid
I think it's strange that you think I'm funny cause he never did
I've been spending the last eight months thinking that all love does is break and burn and end
But on a Wednesday, in a café, I watched it begin again
As Henry Granger stood before his daughter, he could believe this day was already here. It was time to give his daughter away. He pulled Hermione close to him. "Congratulations my dear," He whispered before releasing her. He brushed one stray curl out of her face before continuing. "You have found one of the most remarkable men to marry. I'm so very proud of you both, and all of your accomplishments." Hermione pretended not to notice the way her father choked up slightly, or the way his eyes glistened with tears.
Instead she smiled up at him, "I'm so glad you could be here for this," She kissed him gently on the cheek before reaching for the door.
And we walk down the block to my car and I almost brought him up
But you start to talk about the movies that your family watches every single Christmas and I won't talk about that,
For the first time what's passed is past
Cause you throw your head back laughing like a little kid
I think it's strange that you think I'm funny cause he never did
I've been spending the last eight months thinking that all love does is break and burn and end
And the on a Wednesday, in café, I watched it begin again
She watched as Fred turned to see her. His eyes lit up as she made her way down the aisle. She was only a half way there when he began his own walk down the aisle to her. Confused Hermione stopped where she was. Within three of his long strides he was standing before her. "I couldn't wait," he grinned down at her before lifting her off the ground, and cradling her in his arms. "Sorry Mr. Granger." He says, looking towards her father, who only laughed as he made his way towards his seat.
Fred carried her the rest of the way down the aisle, before setting her back on the ground. He held her hands as Percy began their wedding vows. Honestly, Hermione had wanted to listen to what Percy was saying, she had wanted to remember everyone word that was said, every vow that she was promising to keep, but she couldn't concentrate on anything but her soon to be husband. The way his eyes were filled with love for her, how the sun shined on her bright red hair, the warmth of his large, explosive scared hands on her own small, wand callused hands. How his freckles seemed to bring out the blue in his eyes today. Or maybe it was the purple shirt. She smiled and squeezed his hands quickly in excitement, before realizing Percy had stopped talking, and everyone was staring at her.
"Hermione, love, you did write vows didn't you?" Fred teased, knowing damn well she had written them the night he had proposed, and then again once a week, every week, before they decided suddenly last week to just write them together.
Hermione laughed. "I vow that you will be my eternal love."
"I vow that I will always be there for you," Fred continued.
"I will try not to threaten you with detention," she teased
"And I will try not to let you use any punching telescopes," Hermione slapped his arm gently. Fred sighed exaggeratedly, "any harmful products at all."
"I will raise a family, the way your family has helped to raise me,"
"I will grow old with you, the way I have grown up with you,"
"And I will not leave you when you grow old, even though I remember how you looked as an old man,"
Everyone laughed, recalling Fred and George's attempt to enter the Tri-Wizard tournament.
"And I will not leave you, even though you are a horrible prank partner."
More laughter from their friends and family.
"And I will not be upset that you now finish Hermione's sentences instead of mine!" George said, finishing the vows.
As the laughter finally died down, Percy announced them as husband and wife. "You may now kiss the bride!" He said, despite that fact that Fred had lifted her back into his arms and was already mid-kiss.
Well, there it is. The end. I love you all so much for staying with me through this story. For sticking with me, even through the gaps in updates, and the horrible typos and grammar errors. I hope this ending is all you guys hoped it would be!
