To say that Gale was nervous would be an understatement. He kept on fiddling with the box in his pocket. He repeatedly tapped his foot, and whipped his sweaty palms on his trousers.

Peeta sighed from his post behind the counter of the bakery. He looked toward Gale, who sat on a table set up for his date with Madge. "Gale stop being so nervous! I know for a fact that she's going to say yes."

Earlier that day, Gale told Peeta about his plans to propose to Madge. Who better to ask than one of Madge's best friends? He would have asked Katniss, but she didn't have a romantic bone in her body.

"I don't know, what if she decides that I don't deserve her! A few days ago, I saw Reese flirting with her" Gale said, as his face transformed into a look of a murderer.

"Well, Reese may be interested in her, but she's not into him. She loves you." Peeta countered.

Gale looked out the window, just in time to see a petite blonde walking towards the bakery.

"It's time" Gale whispered as he rushed out the door. He ran to her, and hugged her tight.

"Gale… I can't breathe." She squeaked out. Gale laughed, and let her go. He held her cheeks in his hands, and studied her face. Her long eyelashes were covered in snow, and her cheeks were red from the cold. She was as beautiful as always.

"Gale isn't it beautiful, the snow!" Madge said, as her eyes wondered across the scenery. Peeta said that this would be a perfect time to propose to her. Winter was her favourite season, just because of the snowfalls.

"Almost as beautiful as you." Gale took a big breathe as he prepared to tell her his speech. "I love you, Madge."

She smiled, "I love you, too."

Gale scratched his head trying to think of what Peeta had told him to saw. But as he looked into her eyes, the word started pouring out.

"Madge, when we first met, I thought you were just the mayor's spoiled daughter, who had everything she wanted. Back then I didn't realize what a kind, sweet, funny, beautiful girl you are. The only thing that I regret right now is doing this so late." Gale got down on his knees, and took the ring out. Madge's eyes widen as she finally caught on to what was happening.

"Madge, I may be arrogant, obnoxious and controlling. But I love you, and I want to be with you forever. So will you marry me?"

Madge laughed, and nodded her head. She was speechless. Gale smiled in joy, and slipped the ring on her finger. He got up and kissed her passionately.

"I've got another surprise for you." Gale said.

"What is it?"

"Follow me" Gale grabbed her hand, and they both ran into the bakery. Gale was relived to get out of the snow.

Madge looked at the table Gale had set up, with wide eyes. The table was draped with a plain white cloth. On the centre of the table was a vase of red roses, her favourite type of flowers.

"You did all this by yourself?" Madge asked Gale in disbelief. He took her hand, and led her down to her chair. Once she was seated he took his seat from across her.

"Well, I had a little help" Gale said as Peeta rushed out of the kitchen doors. In his hands he held two menus.

"Welcome to Peeta's Bakery! What will you like to eat on this fine evening?" Peeta said as he passed each of them their menus.

Madge just laughed, as she looked at Peeta in disbelief. This was definitely a day she'll remember forever.
