"Youngblooded Atorah! You are charged with destroying ancestral property and trespassing! How do you plead?"

"Not guilty! I-,"

"Cuda caught you trespassing last night near the docks after curfew!" Commander accused.

"Cuda told me-,"

"I wish to hear no more! Your punishment is cleaning the entire ship for 3 weeks! Understand?" High Elder and Commander Cota shouted down at me from his throne. I swear when he shouted his whole chamber rocked with his anger.

"But sir! That's not fair I-."

Elder Cota's face tensed, his mandibles pulling back in disbelief as he spat in anger at my defiance, "Four weeks!" My jaw dropped and I prepared to say something again,

"FIVE!" He warned with a sharp finger pointed straight up into the air. I dared to glare at him, my eyes meeting his in challenge,

"THAT IS THE LAST STRAW! A WHOLE CYCLE! YOU HEAR ME!? SIRRAH CONTROL YOUR CHILD!" The Commander roared, standing up from his throne and shaking. He stomped over to me standing feet above me and spit flew on my arm. My mother quickly pulled me backward and pushed my head foreward to force submission upon me. My eyes glared at the dirt floor of the Commanding chamber.

"Sometimes not even I can control my pups tongue. It is too big. Please forgive her disobedience." I huffed at her slightly from the insult. "Highest Elder, how will she complete her training to become blooded if you make her do chores all night?" Commander Cota leaned back in his chair and scoffed.

"If it were up to me your pup wouldn't even be allowed to become blooded. Seeing as you're the most honorable and successful warrior of our clan I have to allow her. As soon as the sun sets she will work on the ships...I suspect she will not be any trouble at such a low level job." He narrowed his yellow eyes at me, I prepared to object when my mother smacked my head none too lightly. "You are dismissed."

I stomped through the sliding metal door that lead to the Commanding Chamber with my

another close behind me. Truth be told if you ever saw my mother and I together you would think I was crazy. My mother the Great Sirrah is a majestic being. More than 7 feet tall, almost 8 feet and taller than most male Yautja except for Commander Cota. I, on the other hand stood at a good 6 feet, short for the Yautja. But even this was a minimal difference between my mother and I. You see, she chose to be forever bonded to a human, my father Sain'ja Ryan. Who on Earth was what he called a Marine. A warrior.

My mother met Ryan an ethnically Japanese man in the Costa Rican jungle while she was on a Chiva to be an honored blood. They fell in love and as you can imagine...I came about.

I look mostly human and the only thing that linked me to my mother were my teal eyes, and the exotic stripes on my shoulders, legs and back. These were only a few shades lighter than my tan skin all over my body and the curved hourglass shape I had. Like my dad I had his tanned skin color, long black hair that reached to my hips and slightly narrowed eyes, leveled out a little by my mother's round ones. I wasn't as muscled out either. I sound beautiful maybe, but the reality is, I'm an outcast here.

"Oh Atorah..." My mother sighed. "If your father were here maybe you wouldn't be in so much trouble." She lightly teased, "come, I will braid your hair to prepare you for work."

"You know it wasn't my fault right?" I asked looking up at my mother.

"Explain."

"Cuda-..." PAYA! That Yautja bastard. One day I would skin him myself. I hated him! "Cuda, asked me to get his ki'cti-pa from the weapons room on a ship, he rigged it up to the fire alarm and set off the training room sprinklers. I didn't mean to ruin the equipment!" I explained in frustration.

"You end up near Cuda somehow in all of your troublesome moments!" Mother raised her voice scolding me.

"I know! It's just, he's always there when something happens to me!" I explained. I stepped inside our home, I sat between my mother's legs, quiet, as she prepared my hair braid which swung below my hips. She made quick work of it,

"Alright, I have finished. Stay out of trouble." Mother grumbled.

"Gkei'moun!"

I had lied to myself when I said this would be easy. All I had a simple bucket and rag and started on the ship from top to bottom.

First the Commons Area

Then The Kitchens

Showers (which was awful)

Training Room

The weight room

And lastly the dining area.

It must have been hours since I started cleaning because the moon was just beginning make way for the sub. The long tables where only the oldest and most respected of Yautja sat (including my mother and I) was still covered in scraps and small bones that the cleaning Yautja who's large fingers couldn't retrieve.

Suddenly my bucket fell over.

"C'jit!" I exclaimed trying to reach the bucket before it rolled off the table and onto the floor creating a bigger mess. I felt a heavy pressure on my shoulders and I was spun around facing my Uncle Tu'puk.

"What is Paya's name have you done now Atorah?" I gave a shy smile.

"Nothing serious..." Tu'puk who was an exact opposite colored twin to my mother but just as tall if not taller was a dark sand brown color and on his front side a light sand brown color. Near his eyes were dark brown almost like what Earth dwellers call a raccoon. His sharp tusk clicked together as he glared down at me clearly disappointed in me.

"I heard what happened Atorah." He growled. "Your mother is very worried and disappointed in you! I promised your father to look after you when you got in trouble and you are making my vow harder and harder to respect. Go to bed...you have training tomorrow." He hissed pointing to the doors.

"What!? H'ko!" I cried out at him. "Both of us will get in trouble!" I objected to my uncle.

"You have training! A dtai'kai'-dte (fight) as a matter of fact! I will NOT have a Yautja with my blood fail! I will speak to commander about relieving some of your duties." He shoved me towards the doors splaying his mandibles in a warning to not come near the bucket and rag.

"Uncle I have to complete this duty..." I said quietly.

He took a moment to think, "You are reminding me of your father Youngblood. Let's make a deal then? I will be watching you during training and if you can handle less sleep and still successfully train you will continue your duty with no hindrance from me. If you cannot handle this, Commander and I will have that chat. Understood?"

"Completely."

What the pauk did I get myself into?
