sorry it took so long, its been rough lately with two deaths in the family and school. hope you like it.
It had been about a month into training and Shae had kept to herself. By keeping to herself she stayed mostly silent in the presence of the other Avengers, Fury said to be nice, he didn't say she couldn't fuck with them though. The other Avengers' opinions minus Banner's were obvious an earthworm could see it, Shae didn't care though. She'd her thousands of minds thinking of how much of a freak she was on any given day that she could give two shits about what a bunch of tight pants assholes thought of her. And to be honest, she didn't mind being a freak; she loved it. It meant people left her alone and she wasn't obligated to make long-term relationships. But for all of her not-giving-a-donkey's-ass she still liked to mess with them. Be it a migraine for the trainees. A glitch in JARVIS's system that played Brittany Spears on Tony's sound system. Or when she's in a really bitchy mood, have Roger's tv glitch and play German movies or, when he wouldn't stop going on about how all the men who fought WWII were valiant and honorable, she put videos of Vietnam just to prove a point. That the USA is fucked up and is run by fucked up people and nothing is done honorably anymore.
She hated Roger's innocence it brought back too many memories, and those memories just made her angrier. Banner tried talking to her about it; he was nice, and she could feel and see in the recesses of his mind that he too felt he was a freak, but unlike her, he didn't accept himself. She pitied him; she also pitied Romanov. Poor woman needed to get laid, and she could see that the former Russian spy had her eyes on Banner. Love was a fickle thing, an unnecessary element to an already complicated journey called life. Shae hadn't felt love or adoration in a long time; she didn't miss it one bit. Feelings like those prevent you from moving on. From being able to make the hard selfish decisions, the ones that keep you alive.
The other trainees didn't last long, either from fear of Banner going all Hulk or from the fact that when it came to passing Romanov's ethics code they all were deemed too sentimental by Romanov and Fury. Roger's argued, saying that their morals were valid. But Fury had a point; when the world is falling you can't have a heart. Sometimes numbers are the answers not your heart. So all that was left was Shae.
Looking back, Shae was glad that the others left. This line of work doesn't make people happy or better. It eats your soul, gives you demons you'll never defeat and find the world a dark and unbearable place. So now, here she sat, alone in her lab with only the hum of her many hard drives to comfort what little she had left of a soul.
On the other end of the base was where Loki was being kept. His only visitor was his brother whom he hated with passion. Thor, was and still is, the least brightest bulb in the shed. But since he was Loki's only source of entertainment he had no choice but sit and listen to his brother. It wasn't until Ultron came that Loki realized how much he was enjoying his brother's visits. While the Avengers were busy saving the world again, the only person left to monitor him was would come in the mornings to check if he was there, not say a single word, tap something into the data pad and then leave. She had no reason to talk to him and neither did he, but after three weeks of not hearing someone.
Shae would come in the mornings to check if he was there, not say a single word, tap something into the data pad and then leave. She had no reason to talk to him and neither did he, but after three weeks of not hearing someone speak he grew desperate. So finally, to get her attention, he did the only thing he could do which apparently was use his body to bang on the glass of prison. She of course ignored him, but when the guards became more and more distressed she had no choice but to confront the God of Mischief herself. And so began their conversations; mostly just Shae talking since Thor hadn't taken off that mouth contraption. She'd tell him small things, like how there were 6,500 known languages on Earth, how the U.S. and Russia were still in the cold war, or how Tony Stark forgot that he and Pepper were suppose to go to the Opera and Pepper sent him a nasty email which made Stark almost shit himself. If Loki could smile he would have, he liked her, because she was a freak like him. The only difference was that she accepted herself, unlike him, and that was what he envied so much. He saw her as being herself. She didn't have to say anything about her past because you didn't need to know, she wore her soul on her sleeve and her soul was her armor. She was cruel, impatient and raw. She was wild and couldn't be tamed.
Loki began to look forward to her morning visits, he began hoping the Avengers would never come back. Because the moment they were back, she'd have no reason to speak to him anymore. And that had become the God of Mischief's greatest fear.
