A/N: For those of you who have stuck with me and my stories. Thank you! I appreciate your patience and understanding. I do try to get these chapters out as fast as I possibly can but sometimes; work, motherhood, and just plain life get in the way. But I promise I'm nowhere near done with any of my stories, and I am working on them as fast as I possibly can. I also want to make sure these chapters aren't crap when I share them with you, and that's it's something you will enjoy and that I'm proud of.
To those of you who want to call me names, and you know who you are. If you have a problem with how fast I'm writing MY story, find someone else's story to read or write your own. I'm doing this for nothing, I'm doing it because I'm a fan and have an idea I feel comfortable enough to share. I don't need your negativity, so if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all.
Bella's POV
After making sure Damon and Sam would let me know when the lasagna was ready, we walked to the living room where the rest of the family was waiting for us. Once we made it outside, Bonnie looks extremely proud of herself while Stefan looks both scared and proud. Damon is the first one to speak up, knowing this could either be very bad or good for us. "What did the two of you do? Where is Charlotte and Peter?"
"I found a spell in my family's grimoire, and I didn't know if it would work so I didn't tell anyone about it. Charlotte and Peter agreed to be my guinea pigs, and so that's what we were doing today while you were out spending time with the family." The more Bonnie explained things, the more excited she got. She called the couple out, and I was shocked to see how human they looked. No longer did they have blood red eyes, now Charlotte had blue eyes while Peter had green. Even with human eyes, you can tell they have blood running through they're veins. "The spell was Emily's, she had apparently found a way to turn Cold Ones into original vampires. She had only successfully changed a handful of vampires, and I thought I could try it and it worked."
"Oh, Bonnie this is great, will there be any side effects for them?" I wad shocked beyond belief, but this was a good thing. I wouldn't do this for every cold one, and we should keep this piece of information to ourselves for sure. If the Cullen's were to find out, they would try forcing Bonnie to change them. The only one's I would agree to change, are Emmett and Jasper. Everyone else could rot, for all I cared.
Emmett probably wouldn't change, unless we agreed to change Rosalie. Of course, this is something Bonnie, would have to be okay with doing first. I would never make her do anything, she wasn't comfortable doing in the first place. Right now, she's bouncing, knowing that I wasn't angry with her. "No side effects at all, they are just like Damon and Stefan. We would have been here sooner, but Stefan was helping them get accustomed to their new lifestyle. Peter has shown great enthusiasm for being able to eat and drink, without having to up chuck it."
"Damn right I am, the one thing I missed this whole time was food and alcohol. We got a shit deal, when we became cold ones. At least you all got to get drunk off your asses still, if we even tried, we started hacking it up." Peter started mouthing off, which just made everyone start laughing. Since it was a drink he wanted, Damon is more than happy to comply. We got everyone back in the house, and quickly got a few drinks going around for everyone of legal age. Once the parents go to bed, the others were welcome to have a drink for all I cared. "God this is good stuff, I'm going to have to stock up on this stuff."
"Don't go getting too drunk, otherwise you will pass out before you even have your first meal in over a hundred years. And you won't want to miss it, seeing as it's Bella's famous lasagna. Bells has put a lot of work into this meal, and your damn well going to enjoy it with the rest of us. Now go into the dining room with Stefan, and finishing setting the table for dinner before I stake you in the arm." Sue demanded as she took the bottle of bourbon from his hand and pointed him towards the dinning room, and with a dejected look follows her orders. We all had a quick laugh about it, and since there was plenty of time before the rest of our guests arrived for dinner.
We were still waiting for Alaric, Caroline and Jenna. Jeremy should be here any second with Anna and Pearl, we had invited them in hopes of getting all the information we could. Emmett and Jasper should be arriving just after dinner, and I truly hoped they left Rosalie at home. If she were to see what Bonnie was able to do, she would more than likely run back to the Cullen's and tell them all about it. Thinking about it, I quickly send a text to Jasper. 'Leave Rosalie at home, I don't trust her with a few things we need to discuss.'
Damon kisses the side of my head, and immediately I know he agreed with what I was doing. Of course, he didn't like her anyways. She contradicts everything she does; she tries being supportive and apologetic towards everyone, then turns around being a total bitch to everyone. Every time she would start mouthing off, Bonnie would start giving her aneurisms warning her to keep her mouth shut if she had nothing nice to say. My phone vibrated with Jaspers response, 'Em and I had already planned to do so, didn't think the pack would appreciate her comments.'
He would be right of course, we would be spending most the night trying to stop the pack and Bonnie from torturing Rosalie. At least for tonight, I would like to keep that from happening. There is plenty of time, for her to get herself into trouble again. Leah throws a balled-up tissue at me, and before it hits me, I catch it and throw it back at her. It hits her square in the face, which stops everyone from what they are doing. I had told them all that Damon and I agreed on him giving me blood regularly, in case something happened to me where no one could get to me in time. I also told them the effects that came with drinking his blood, but it's one thing to hear about it and another to see it for themselves.
Leah along with everyone else, had this shocked look on their faces. I couldn't help laughing, and soon Damon was joining me. Bonnie was gigging behind me, and soon Leah snapped out of it and starting laughing with us. That seemed to snap everyone else out of their shock as well, and the pack seemed to start breathing again. Silly wolves thinking that Leah would retaliate, we've gotten past that years ago. Now it's mostly little pranks here and there, but this is just fair play. Soon all of us, not including the parents, were having a paper ball fight. Charlotte and Peter even joined us in the fun, until Char informed us there was a car pulling into the driveway.
Stefan begins to clean up the mess, while Damon and I go for the door. Just as we opened the door, we see Alaric's car pulling to stop with another car pulling in behind him. I was happy to see that Liz came along with Caroline, and that they looked less tense. "Welcome to the Salvatore Family dinner Liz, I hope the family won't run you off before dinner."
"Are you saying we can't be civilized?" Quil yells from the hallway, proving that he at least couldn't be. No matter how hard we tried, we just couldn't get him to learn his manners. Thankfully I didn't have to answer that with an actual response, as my dad grabbed him by the ear and pulled him back into the family room. I would feel bad about it, but it was better than me cutting him off from dinner.
"I think I can handle it, they behaved okay at the grill. Besides, Caroline tells me that I can't miss out on the meal you've prepared." Liz said with a confidence, that didn't show in her eyes. As we started to walk them in the family room, Damon let me know that the timer was going off. I excuse myself and make my way into the kitchen to take the food out of the oven. While I was checking on the food, Damon took Liz and Caroline into the family room to introduce them to the family.
While I was adding a little more cheese to each pan of lasagna, Stefan comes into the kitchen. Without saying a word, he slices the bread in half horizontally, while I make quick work of melting the butter and adding freshly minced garlic and parsley. He takes the butter and spreads it on the bread. "You know the last time Damon and I had this many people in the house, we were human, and it was right before Katherine came into our lives."
"With how well everyone is getting along so far, I'm thinking this won't be the last time we have this big of a get together. I can't promise it will always be in Mystic Falls, seeing as eventually people will notice you and Damon don't age. We will visit La Push, but we won't stay there because it would just be uncomfortable with Jacob and his pack there. But wherever we go, they will come and visit us." I tell him as he places the bread in the oven with the lasagna, and I quickly washed the pot and brush we had used. Before I could grab the bread knife, Stefan moves me out of the way finishing the cleaning.
He's playfully glaring at me, silently telling me that I should know better. Everyone apart of my growing family, makes sure that I do more than just work all the time. They make sure I have fun and do things I never normally do, because I would find something that needed to be done. In reality I did do things just for me that was fun, but they made sure I had experiences that I should have had growing up. "None of us would be here like this, if it weren't for you. Sure, we had our moments of being a solid unit, but we had so many issues that we just shoved to the side that we couldn't be a real family. Let alone think all this shit through, with clear heads like we do now. We thought getting close to people, meant we were being weak. We would have to watch everyone we got close to die."
"You taught all of them, like you've taught us. That getting close isn't a weakness, it's what gives us our humanity truly back. We might have to watch most of these people die in our lifetimes, but getting close to them, loving them. That's what makes us remember we were once humans, and no matter how much it hurts to love them it keeps us human." Charlotte says behind us, and we really look at her. She's exactly who she always was to me, my sister who helped save me in a bad time. She looked warmer and softer, and she had her beautiful blue eyes. They all give me way too much credit, they all had it in them to do all these things. All they needed was a little push into the right direction.
I can only imagine what it's like to watch everyone you care about die, though I know in reality I will have to do just that. I had come to terms with that a long time ago, knowing that I lived in a world where I could die from knowing to much, being in the wrong place and wrong time, and just by being as close to my mix-matched family as I am. "You all had it in you, you just needed a small reminder. Even I needed one every now and again, when things become too much. My past is no picnic, and it's given me quite a few insecurities. When I let them get to me, I know I can go to any one of you to bring me back to reality. So, you do just as much for me, as I apparently do for you."
Bonnie's POV
I can't remember the last time I had sat down at dining room table so full, that wasn't for one of Mrs. Lockwood's parties. This was a room full of family and friends, who were quickly becoming part of our mismatched family. After grams died, I never thought I would become friends let alone family with vampires. Especially with ones who forced me to open the tomb, and the ones in it.
Bella's lasagna was worth all the praise the pack had given it, and so much more. Peter had gotten hit a few times for the noise he kept making with each bite of food he took, not that any of us really blamed him or Charlotte. It had truly been over a hundred years since he had real human food, that was enjoyable. I was truly happy that I was able to give this to Peter and Charlotte, and now I knew I could do that same for Jasper and even Emmett. Earlier when I had talked to the ancestors, they had given me a lot of information, along with the approval of changing the cold ones into original vampires.
As for the information they had given me, they were able to tell me several things. Like Rose wasn't Emmett's true mate, and soon he would find who he was meant to be with. First, he would need to be changed, and hopefully there wouldn't be too much of a fight over it. Jasper wouldn't be hard to convince at all, knowing he hated the lack of control he has as a cold one. Again, the ancestors, offered that once he was changed, he would have much better control over himself and his empathic powers. They hadn't said anything about him finding a mate, and I hadn't asked either. I think everyone already knew, that he had already found her in Caroline.
While the dishes were being taken cared of in the kitchen by the men, Bella requested Jasper and Emmett to come over. Stefan and Charlotte were with us outside, to help prove what I was actually offering them. Once they were with us, they immediately noticed the difference in Charlotte. They were shocked and curious, and I let Bella explain since she was the one the both of them trusted the most. "Bonnie had found a spell, and asked Charlotte and Peter if they would mind letting her test it out on them. As Peter's yoda didn't get any inkling to things going eerie by letting her, they've now become original vampires instead of cold ones. They can eat and sleep, basically do just as humans do as long as they keep digesting blood."
"If your willing, I can do the same for you. From talking to my ancestors earlier, I know that it will help with any kind of bloodlust you have as a cold one. What you do have to understand, is that I'm only willing to do this for the two of you. I don't trust Rosalie, and I know that might be hard to hear. But she's been nothing but a mean spirited person towards Bella and Caroline, and they are my sisters in every sense of the word but blood." I tell them honestly, and I could see the hurt in Emmett's eyes. But he was truly thinking this through, and I slowly start to see him come to terms with his decision.
Jasper on the other hand, looked to have already made his decision. I know telling him about having better control, would entice him in the end. Also, the thought of being Caroline's equal, the thought of walking in the daylight with her. Not having to hide away, and only come out at night. He had probably realized that, if I was offering this, I planned on also giving them a daylight ring. Without talking to Emmett about it, he readily agreed to being changed into an original vampire. Emmett didn't look the slightest bit surprised by Jasper's decision, in fact he looked extremely happy for him.
Emmett needed help in making such a big decision, so no one said anything when we turned to Jasper. To us normal hearing creatures, it didn't even look like they were talking. From the sadness in Stefan's eyes, I could tell Emmett's heart was breaking. He turned to us, no that's wrong, he turned to Bella with sorrow and pleading in his eyes. "Rosalie isn't my true mate, is she?"
"Oh Emmy, I think she was always meant to be part of your undead life, but no she wasn't supposed to be your happily ever after. She was slowly eating away at everything great about you, and mates are supposed to make you better. I will always be grateful that she saved you that night you got mulled by a bear, but anything after that was for selfish reasons. I think you see that, and I think you have someone out there just waiting to fall in love with my big bear of a brother." Bella said slowly pulling away from Damon's hold, and walking slowly in Emmett's direction. Once she's close enough, she wraps her arms around his mid-section. We all watch as he begins to break down with sobs, tears in his eyes that won't ever fall.
The rest of us leave him and Bella alone, deciding to wait inside while he pulls himself together. Damon and Japer stayed behind, knowing that they both might be needed. It wasn't an easy thing to come to terms with, seeing as your talking about someone you have loved for centuries. We had all seen hm slowly falling out of love with her, since they had arrived with her treatment of others. She played a role of perfect mate, until her true self couldn't stand to be ignored. A few minutes later, all four of them enter the family room. Emmett is the first to speak. "Bonnie, thank you for offering this. I do wish to be changed into an original vampire, but would it be possible to give me a few days so I can settle a few things?"
"Absolutely, I know there will be things that you and Jasper will have to take care of before the spell can be performed. I just wanted you to have the time to decide, what it is you truly want for yourselves with no pressure. When either of you are ready, just let me know and I will have everything ready." I tell them, and they both come over to give me hug. They already felt like family, and I knew they would both be a big part of our lives. Now to introduce them to everyone in the house, so we can get down to business.
"Em and Jasper, I would like you to meet our family. You remember my dad Charlie; his wife Sue, and her kids Leah and Seth. You know Mason, but as of today he's Leah's imprint. Next, we have Quileute's former Chief Billy Black, you will be able to meet the new Chief in a few days. Here we have Alpha Sam and Emily Uley, along with my unborn godchild. Next to them is Jared, and his girlfriend Kim. Next, we have the three best protectors are girl could ever ask for; Paul, Embry and Quil." Bella introduced everyone and went on to explain to Liz the differences of Emmett and Jasper to Caroline.
"No offense, but I'm glad Caroline was turned into an original vampire. She had a better chance of having a semi-normal life, though it must suck being stuck at 17 forever." Liz had slowly gotten more comfortable with the situation, as she saw that everyone was still who they always were. Caroline and I were really worried, that the councils misguide views would have kept her from truly seeing how different mist vampires are. At the very least, the supernatural beings surrounded by Bella and by extension Caroline.
Emmett and Jasper took no offense to what Liz said, telling her that they would have preferred to have been turned into original vampires over what they are. We all joked around for a bit, but we had more important things to talk about. After we all sat down and got comfortable, I figured it was a good time to catch everyone caught up on the happenings that we have been dealing with. "Bella and I have been trying to find out, why Katherine has been trying to get to Elena. While none of us are particularly happy with her, we don't want to see her dead. We would also like to get rid of the threat of Katherine all together, she's caused enough problems for our family. Pearl do you know who's after her?"
"I was wondering when this would come up, but I know how busy you have been. Katherine has been running, her whole vampire life. In reality, she's a coward for not facing him. Elena is not the first doppelganger, there have been other's before her. The first original vampire and his family, have been searching for the Petrova doppelganger for centuries." Pearl had started telling us the missing pieces, of Katherine's past. This is what we needed to know, to help protect everyone in our family. This is something we need to know about the remaining Cullen's, so we have everything we will need to make them all leave us alone.
Bella and Billy were soaking the words in, that it was kind of sweet. You could tell Bella got her love for knowledge from her godfather, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he was the one to give her first book. I'm almost positive that if Bella had a notebook and pen on her, she'd be writing this all down to look over later. Anna spoke up next, pulling me from my thoughts. "Katherine had been taken in by the family, after she had been forced to her child away. Klaus had her as a love at first, but he needed her to break a curse. Only Petrova blood, can break the curse. His older brother Elijah had grown feelings for her and tried to find a way to save her."
"Katherine used Elijah's feeling, to make friends with a few vampires around the castle. The night before the ritual, Katherine was changed in a vampire and made a run for it the second she woke to her new life. Klaus has been after her ever since. He never knew Katherine had a child, and if he were to find out. He would come for Elena, to break the curse placed on him." Pearl had finished telling us all she knew, and with a nod from Peter we knew it was truly all she knew. I couldn't wrap my mind around why any vampire or witch would ever stay loyal to Katherine, after knowing she used everyone to her advantage to stay alive.
She called Katherine a coward, and I fully agree with her assessment, because she runs instead of dealing with her issues. Though she told us all she knew of Katherine, she had more knowledge on this Klaus and his family. Paul was the one to ask the right question. "What kind of curse, are we talking about here?"
"When his turned him and his siblings into vampires, his werewolf half was contained by his mother's magic. As you know, once someone with the werewolf gene has their first kill. They trigger the change; he can't transform on a full moon. Due to the curse, he can feel the pain of the change, but not physically transform. His family of course, told lies to all about the curse. Telling any supernatural who would listen, that the curse was to help let all vampires walk in the sun, or to let werewolves transform on will." Pearl had given us, just that much more information that could help us in some way. The lie that was told about the curse, was incentive to get the help they needed to find everything they needed.
We all felt for Klaus in our own way, knowing that his own mother had cursed him to feel that kind of pain his whole existence. But that also meant that his siblings, were only his half siblings. Meaning one of his parents were married once before, or one of them had an affair. We are all quiet, thinking of all that we've learned so far. Mason was the first one to speak up, and he was very sympathetic to Klaus' pain. "I can't imagine the pain he feels; it must be a million times worse that when I change."
"What happens, if he is able to break the curse?" Billy asks, after breaking out of his thoughts. This is all something, we should all be curious about. This might be the answer to all our problems with Katherine, and maybe with any luck the Cullen's too.
"He would become a hybrid. He will still be a vampire but will be able to change into a werewolf whenever he chose too. Without out feeling the pain, and he can possibly make other hybrids." That was surprising, none of us had ever heard of such a thing. But than again, he would be the first to ever exist and his mother stopped him. "His family is originally from here, before this town was even named. The Mikaelson's will stop at nothing, to break this curse on Klaus."
We all turn towards Bella, when we hear her gasp in shock. Which can only mean one thing, she knows one of them. But they obviously didn't tell her what they were, or anything about their pasts. And yet I don't think anyone of us, is surprised that she even knows another supernatural person. She attracts them to her and makes them loyal to her without even trying. Her dad is the one to ask the obvious question. "Do you know them, Bella?"
"I knew a Rebekah Mikaelson and her older brother Nic, back in Phoenix. Rebekah and I were friends, we went to school together until I moved to Forks." Bella explained honestly, and you could tell she felt a little hurt that they hadn't been honest with her. They must have really gotten close to her, for her to feel that way. I would have to check in on her and see how she's doing with all this tomorrow, she's had a lot going on with the Cullen's, the wedding and starting her business.
"Of course, you were, and this isn't even surprising anymore." Sam says with a chuckle; the pack is chuckling along with him. Damon seems to be holding onto Bella a little bit tighter. Almost like, he thinks the Mikaelson's will take her away from him. Bella would never let that happen, she loves him too much to let them try and dictate her life like that.
Billy had his thinking face on, and he was trying to think of a way to ask Bella something without sounding accusing. How much did the Mikaelson's already know, if Bella was telling them all this stuff. She wouldn't do that of course, seeing as she would never to talk to someone about supernatural happening to someone, she thought was human and knew nothing of this world. "Do you still talk to Rebekah?"
"Her numbers never changed, and we usually text or call once a month. We've mostly been texting small updates, since she's supposedly been busy helping with the family business. We haven't even talked about me marrying Damon, because she's been so busy. I was going to call her this week, to see if she could come to the wedding. But we need a plan, and to do some more research before I even think about calling her." She was thinking about keeping everyone alive, and that included Elena even though she disliked her. We didn't want anyone to unnecessarily dying, if we can help it.
We spent the rest of the night, talking about different kind of stories. We would think about this all tomorrow. For right now, it's time to enjoy each other's company. Even Pearl and Anna were trying their best, to take Bella's mind off all of this by talking to her and Billy about all they've seen since becoming vampires. Damon was having a pleasant conversation with Paul and Sam, while still holding Bella close to him. Bella didn't mind at all, curling herself around his arm almost. They were comforting each other, while still interacting with the family. Hopefully, we can fix all these messes soon. We all deserve to be truly happy, without out all these problems.
