The Secrets of Friends
Chapter 6: To Hogwarts, We Go!
"FINALLY!" Sirius screamed at the top of his lungs while in his bedroom.
"SIRIUS, SHUT UP!" Walburga yelled at him from the dining room.
Grinning, Sirius snapped his school trunk shut. At long last he was going to Hogwarts. He could finally escape from his evil, crazy family! This was going to be the best thing in the whole wide world! He couldn't wait to see James and Remus, especially Remus. Life has been so crazy that he and James haven't heard from their friend since before his attack. They didn't even know if he was going to be on the train today. It was just assumed he would be there.
There was only one good thing that came from the attack. His mother seemed to have gained something that was like respect for Remus. Since he survived and fought with werewolves without getting bitten before he learned any magic was very impressive to her.
With his trunk packed and himself dressed in robes, Sirius bounded down the stairs to the dining room. Outside the room, he straightened himself up and walked into the dining room with his head held high. "Good morning, mother, father."
"It's about time you got down here." Orion said from behind the Daily Prophet.
"Sorry for being late, father." Sirius said as he sat down. He was not going to anger his parents today. They had to take him to the platform after all. "I wanted to make sure I had everything packed."
Orion nodded in approval.
"We will be apparating to the platform at ten thirty." Orion informed him.
Sirius glanced at the clock to see that it was nine forty-five. He couldn't keep the excited smile off his face. Soon, he would be out of here!
"Listen to me, Sirius," Walburga began.
Sirius wanted to groan. He knew what was coming, a lecture about being in Slytherin. She kept reminding him of all this stuff. Damn, he really hoped he wasn't in that house.
"Don't make that face." Walburga snapped at him. "You are about to join the most noble and purest house at Hogwarts."
Gryffindor, Sirius thought.
"Slytherin," Walburga continued, eyes hardening into a glare as she looked at her son as if she knew what he was thinking. "You will be a great addition to the house. You are to focus on your studies and get along with your housemates. No more pranks, do you understand? You will be in a noble house so you must prove how true you are to your bloodline. We Blacks are well-respected after all. Toujours Pur. Remember that, Sirius. Always Pure."
Sirius frowned, but nodded. He had to bite his tongue from saying anything rude though.
*Secrets of Friends*
James scrambled around his room to pick up anything he needed for school. His mother had warned him to finish packing last night, which he started to do, but then he found a Quidditch magazine and just had to look through it. So, yeah, he forgot to finish packing.
He just managed to scoop some dungbombs off the floor when he felt his feet slip on a robe that was left on the ground. The dungbombs flew from his hands, tumbling to the wall with loud thuds, as he fell flat on his face. There was sickening crack when his glasses broke. With glass pricking at his face, James let out a quiet groan.
"James, what are you doing up there?" Dorea called up the stairs.
The bespectacled boy didn't reply to his mother. He just sat up and rubbed his aching head. As he was rubbing his head, he felt a sticky substance on his face. When he pulled his hand away, he had to squint to see the blood on his hands.
When there was no reply from her son, Dorea climbed the stairs and entered her son's room. She paused for a moment at the sight of James sitting on his trunk, holding a pair of broken glasses in one hand and cradling his bleeding face in the other. "What happened?" She asked.
"I fell." James said simply.
Sighing, Dorea closed the door and approached her son. She sat next to him on the trunk, pulling her wand out as she did. Ten minutes later both of them were leaving the room. James was all healed up with his glasses repaired and on his face. His trunk was floating behind him at his mother's command.
"Is Remus coming today?" James asked his mother as they walked down the stairs.
Dorea looked down at her son confused. "Why ever wouldn't he?"
James shrugged. "He was attacked by werewolves. I was just wondering if he was going to come now or wait until later."
Dorea chuckled. "Do not worry, James. He is as lively as ever, but I am telling you now, young man." She turned to her son with a stern expression. "No roughhousing with him. He is injured. He needs time to heal."
"Of course, Mom. Wouldn't that reopen his wounds?" James asked curiously.
"Yes."
"I won't roughhouse with him and I'll make sure Sirius doesn't too." James said.
"Thank you, James."
"Soooo," James jumped off the last stair and spun around to walk backwards to look at his mom. "How are we getting the platform?"
"We will be apparating to King's Cross and going through the wall." Charlus said from behind James, tapping his son on the head.
The boy spun around and shot his dad a grin. "Hey Dad! When can we leave? I can't wait!"
Charlus chuckled. "Well, since someone was running behind, we have to leave now. It's ten thirty-five."
"Let's go then!" James exclaimed, pulling his dad by the hand.
*Secrets of Friends*
Remus stood in front of the full length mirror in the bathroom. His shoulders and chest were covered in bandages. There was a bit of blood on them, but not enough for him to have to change them. The cuts on his face were covered in a salve and pulled together by white plasters at the end of the cuts. There was also a third one in the middle of the cuts. His left wrist was still wrapped up tightly by the white bandages. His legs were all scratched and cut up as well so they were bandaged as well. His feet, which got bruised and scratched from running around bare foot, were already healed.
With a sigh, Remus pulled a blue t-shirt on to cover the bandages. He really wished his injuries would just heal quickly and go away. Too bad they will never go away, he thought with a scowl.
*Flashback*
Remus shifted on the bed. He was so bored. Why did hospitals have to be so boring? If only Shawn didn't get released yesterday. If he was still here then at least he would have someone to talk to.
He was just contemplating how much longer until dinner when the door to the room opened. Hoping it was dinner, Remus lifted his head off the pillow, but, upon seeing it was just Dorea Potter, his head fell back down. "'Ello, Mrs. Potter." He muttered.
"Why so down?" Dorea asked.
"Bored."
Dorea smiled. "Sorry to hear that. I got some happy news for you though."
"The only thing to make me happy now is getting some food in my belly." Remus replied.
"Oh, really? So the prospect of getting released is not appealing?" Dorea retorted teasingly.
Remus shot up into a sitting position. "Released? Really? I can leave? Now?"
The Healer laughed. "No, not now, but you may leave tomorrow. Your mom has agreed to come get you tomorrow."
"Thank you, Mrs. Potter." Remus said excitedly. "It has been so boring in here."
"You've been asleep for most of your stay." Dorea replied amused.
Remus shrugged. "The days that I've been awake for were boring, except for the times when I got to talk to Shawn."
Dorea smiled. "That's nice, dear. Now, before I can release you tomorrow, I must talk to you about your injuries."
Blinking, Remus gave his full attention to his friend's mother. "Yes?"
"As I'm sure you were told, the wounds of a werewolf are cursed. It will take a while for them to heal. Healing spells can be used every once in a while to help speed the process of healing up, but it won't be by much. You need to rest and eat well. That will help the healing process. You will also need to visit a Healer once a week for treatment. Seeing as you will be leaving for school September first, you may go see the school nurse. I believe her name is Madam Poppy Pomfrey. She is real nice and will help you when you need it so don't be shy." Dorea explained. She moved to Remus's side and lifted his shirt to check the bandages. "She is relatively young and new to the job, but I'm sure she'll do an excellent job in helping you. After all, she works in a school full of kids who always get hurt one way or another. She'll have a lot of experience."
"With hexes and Quidditch accidents." Remus retorted, fidgeting slightly as Dorea lifted the bandages on his left shoulder to check the claw marks.
"Werewolf wounds are some of the most difficult to treat, but don't vote her out just yet. If she needs any help with treating you, she'll call a Healer from St. Mungo's to come." Dorea replied before moving away from Remus to a cabinet. Since she had her back to Remus, he couldn't see what it was that she was doing. "As it is, I need to put some salve on your injuries, change the bandages, and I believe a pain relief potion would be nice."
"Very." Remus said.
She turned back to him with a tray in her hand. She set it on the table next to Remus's bed and told the boy to remove his shirt. With the shirt gone, Dorea went to work to carefully cutting the bloody bandages from Remus's body. "Remus."
"Hmm?" Remus said, trying hard not to move so Dorea wouldn't accidentally cut him.
"I'm sorry to tell you this, but your injuries will heal but they will not fade." Dorea said as she cut the last of the bandages away from his chest.
"What do you mean?" Remus asked confused.
"You will have scars everywhere you were hurt by the werewolf. The scars will never fade." Dorea explained.
Remus fell into shock. He was really hoping to have his injuries healed and forget about the whole incident. The only reminder of this would be his father turning into a werewolf once a month. It seemed that it was not meant to be forgotten. The reminder will always be on his body.
"And another thing," Dorea continued, causing Remus to groan. What else could there possibly be? "Now, you weren't bitten by a werewolf so you are not one, but I fear that you may have some wolfish traits, even more so when the full moon is near."
Remus blinked. "But why?"
"Was the werewolf drooling?"
"Kind of. It seemed really excited at the prospect of biting me." Remus replied, shuddering a little.
"That is why. His saliva has bothered your genes enough to give you a few wolfish traits." Dorea told him, smiling sadly at him as she gently rubbed the salve on his shoulders and chest.
Remus groaned. "Wolfish traits like?"
"A liking for meat that is more on the raw side, though that will probably be more around the full moon. Your hearing and sight might have improved. Again, that will become even better when the full moon is near." Dorea explained.
"That would explain some things." Remus muttered, running his hand over one of his ears.
*End Flashback*
With another sigh, Remus finished tying his shoes and left his bedroom, dragging his trunk behind him. It was THUD, THUD, THUD as he dragged it down the stairs. The noise he was making caught John's attention so he met his son at the bottom of the stairs.
"Excited?" He asked, grinning softly at his son.
Remus grinned. "Yeah. I can't wait to see Sirius and James. It feels like it's been forever since I last saw them."
"I meant about Hogwarts." John said, chuckling softly.
"I know." Remus replied. "That will be great too. I can't wait to explore the castle."
"You are going there to learn, not play." Maria scolded from the entrance to the kitchen.
Remus ducked his head. "I know, mom."
When Maria went to finish breakfast, John leaned over to whisper in his son's ear, "Explore the castle. Have fun. Don't focus just on your studies."
Remus flashed him a grin. "Thanks dad. Take the blame when I get in trouble?"
"I think not. Your mom's temper is not something I wish to deal with." John retorted, smirking down at his son. "Why did you have to inherit her temper? I don't think the teachers will survive if they anger you."
Remus poked his tongue out at him before becoming somber. "Are you sure you're fine with this?"
John sighed. Ever since his son came home, he has been asking this every single day. "Remus, everything will be fine."
"But this is your first full moon," Remus said worriedly.
"And I'll be fine." John reassured him. "Besides, I think it is best if you stay away on the full moons anyway. That night is still too fresh in your memory." When Remus looked upset and defeated, he continued, "But if it means that much to you, I'll ask Professor Dumbledore if he will allow you to come home the day after the full moon to see me."
"Will you really?" Remus asked, brightening up.
"Of course. I'll send him an owl later." John replied.
"Thank you, dad."
*Secrets of Friends*
"It's going to be crazy on the platform, James. I'm not sure you'll be able to find them." Dorea was telling her crestfallen son.
"Find who?" A voice behind the Potters asked. The smirk could practically be heard in his voice.
James whipped around at the familiar voice and grinned when he saw his best friend. "REMUS! Mate, it's been too long!"
Chuckling, Remus clapped his mate on the shoulder. "I know. How dare you not come visit your injured friend? He has been incredibly bored."
"Why is James's friend talking in third person?" James retorted, grin growing on his face.
"Because James's friend has spent the last three weeks being bored." Remus snapped back, smirking.
"Oh!" James said dramatically. He gave a flourish bow to his friend. "James would like to give his deepest apologies to his dear friend. How dare he make his friend suffer from boredom like that? He should be punished!"
"Remus agrees completely." Remus replied.
"Enough, you two. We need to get on the platform." Charlus interrupted, though he looked thoroughly amused by the boys' antics.
"James will go first!" James declared. He took his cart with his trunk and owl cage on it from his dad and lined up with the wall.
"Remus wanted to go first." Remus grumbled.
James shot him a grin before he was running at the wall and was gone!
"You can go now, Remus." Dorea said.
Grinning, Remus took his cart and lined up with the wall. He paused to make sure no one was watching then took off at a run. A moment later he had passed through the wall. He blinked at the fabulous sight that met his eyes. There was a magnificent red train sitting on the tracks. All around were excited students and some sad or proud parents. It was wonderful!
"Amazing, right?" James asked.
Remus looked to his right to see James leaning against the wall and smiled. "Wonderful. Can you imagine what Hogwarts will look like?"
"If you're amazed by this sight, you won't be able to handle Hogwarts." A chuckling voice said behind Remus.
Both boys turned to John with excited grins.
"Can we get on the train?" Remus asked.
"Aww, don't you want to say bye to dad first?" John whined.
Laughing, Remus gave him a hug. "Better?"
"Not really," John muttered, but then grinned. "Thank you, Remus. I am so proud of you. Be a good boy and don't get into too much trouble."
"He shouldn't be getting into any trouble." Maria snapped.
"Let the boy have fun, Maria." John argued.
Maria frowned. "He can have fun without getting detention every week. Honestly, there are other ways to have fun without getting yelled at for breaking the rules."
Meanwhile, James was grinning up at his parents, who were both smiling at him in pride. "Now, James, I know you like pranks, but try not to do too many. You have classes you need to focus on." Dorea was saying while Charlus was grinning.
"Yes, James, focus on your classes and do your homework. Who knows? You might even find good uses for some of the Charms or potions or Transfiguration. Teachers sometimes accidentally give pranksters ideas." Charlus told him.
A smirk adorned James's face. Pranks were fun, but how fun would they be when a teacher gave a prankster an idea and knew it was his/her fault? That would be so awesome!
Dorea brushed the bangs from her son's forehead. "Oh, my little James, I am so proud of you. Do well in school and make your parents proud, okay?"
"We'll be proud of you, no matter what, okay?" Charlus said.
James nodded. His mother suddenly kissed his cheek, causing him to scowl. "Mom! There are people here! Don't do that!"
Dorea just laughed. "Let's get you on the train."
James nodded and turned to Remus. What he saw caused him to frown. Remus's parents seemed to have forgotten about him as they were looking at each other and arguing. He knew they were arguing because they were both red in the face.
"Oh, dear, I was worried this would happen." Dorea said, watching the fighting pair.
"Why?" James asked confused.
"They are both stressed over everything that has happened. Tempers must have been rising for days and they are finally letting it out." Dorea told him worriedly.
James looked at Remus, who was chewing his bottom lip and shifting uncomfortably. It was probably embarrassing to have his parents fighting in public like this or he was just nervous about their fight.
Wanting to spare his friend the embarrassment, James grabbed the end of his trunk and dragged it over to the family. "Yo mate, sorry to interrupt, but we need to get on the train or we'll miss it."
Remus shot him a grateful look as his parents stopped their argument.
"I guess it is time for you to leave." John said, smiling at his son. "Have fun."
"Behave." Maria said. "And do your studies."
"Alright, mother, father." Remus said.
Once the two trunks were loaded onto the train, James and Remus followed. They waved to their parents and called a last good-bye just as the train started to move. They had only just made it.
When the platform was disappearing from site, James turned to Remus with a raised brow. "Are your parents okay? My mom said it was just stress, but it seemed a bit…they're not getting a divorce, are they?"
Remus gave him a weak smile. "No, they're not. It's just stress and worry for the coming days."
James blinked in confusion. "What does that mean? What are they worried about?"
Instead of replying, Remus just shook his head and grabbed his trunk again. "Let's just find–"
"Me, chaps?"
Both James and Remus whipped around to see Sirius, already in his robes, grinning at his two best friends, who were both groaning and rubbing their necks because of whiplash. "We really got to stop doing that." James informed Remus before turning to Sirius and clapping him on the shoulder. "Excited to finally be escaping your family?"
"You know it, James. Come on. I have a compartment all to myself up here." Sirius said, waving his hand down the car.
"Quite amazing that we found you so fast." James commented.
Sirius shrugged. "I was watching out for you guys. It wasn't hard to find you when I saw the yelling couple." He added to Remus with a frown. "I thought your parents had a good relationship. What's going on?"
Remus shrugged. "Just forget it. It happens with stress that tempers rise a bit."
"If you say so." Sirius muttered as he stopped in front of a compartment. "This is it, mates."
When Remus followed Sirius in and started to pick his trunk up to get it on the rack above, James slammed his foot on top of it. "That, is not a good idea." He said as he dropped his own trunk. "Sirius and I will put the trunks up. You sit down."
Remus scowled at him. "I can do it."
"I have no doubt about that on a good day, Remus." James said calmly. "But right now, you are not to do anything strenuous according to my mom. I believe she is worried your wounds will reopen. She wants you to rest."
"That's right!" Sirius declared, turning to Remus with a worried gleam in his eyes. "How are you? My mom showed me the newspaper about the attack. It sure was a surprise. I can't understand why they would attack you."
Remus dropped into a seat next to the window when it was clear that Sirius and James weren't going to let him help at all. Stupid James and Sirius. Just cause he was a tiny bit smaller than them, they seemed to think he needed looking after. Well, he would show them! He would be a great wizard.
When James and Sirius had finished putting all three trunks on the racks (Sirius had left his down because he needed help getting it up there), James let his new brown and black owl out the window so he could stretch his wings. Sirius did the same with his owl that was light grey in color.
"My owl's name is Nightwing." James told them as he threw his owl's cage up on the racks.
"Mine is Ashen." Sirius said as he too put his cage up in the racks. When he and James sat down next to other, Remus turned to them to tell them about Fenrir. He thought they deserved to know about the truth. Well, most of the truth. They were his friends and would demand the truth anyway.
"It was Fenrir Greyback and a couple werewolves from his werewolf army." Remus said bluntly.
"What?" James said blankly.
Sirius, on the other, raised a brow. "I heard your dad arrested Fenrir Greyback a few months ago."
"He did, but on the way to his trial, he escaped." Remus said. No longer able to look at his friends, he turned to the window. "He escaped and sent a letter to my dad saying he was coming for me for the insult. Scared of the threat, my parents have been taking the full moon off each month and every night a couple Aurors would turn up to help guard me from Greyback if he showed up. I didn't know what was going on at all until after the attack."
"So he was after you." James said, sharing a look with Sirius. "At least he failed."
Remus nodded his head, distracted. "I wish the Aurors weren't there, then Rose, Rose wouldn't have…." He took a shuddering breathe to calm himself before looking back at his friends. "Forget that. This is a happy time! We are off to Hogwarts!"
"Just as long as you're okay." Sirius shrugged.
"Course I am. It was two weeks ago!" Remus exclaimed. "Now, what about you? How were the weeks with your darling mother?"
"Argh! They still expect me to be in Slytherin. I got a huge lecture about it at breakfast today. AND then, I got another one before I got on the train." Sirius grumbled sourly. "Honestly, it like they expect my views to suddenly change right before I leave for Hogwarts. I thought I made it perfectly clear where I stand!"
Remus chuckled, causing Sirius to shoot him a glare. "And what, may I ask, is so funny?" He growled.
"Oh, I was just finally realizing where your stubborn streak came from." Remus told him, smirking.
Sirius gasped in horror while James howled with laughter. "NEVER! REMUS JOHN! How dare you suggest such a thing! I have nothing in common with those vile people!"
"You really know where to hit to make it hurt, Remus." James said, grinning as he finally got his laughter under control.
"Be careful, Jamesie!" Sirius said sardonically. "He'll come for you next."
James turned to Remus with a smirk. "Remus wouldn't do that to me, right? I am your favorite after all."
"Well," Remus started, but was cut off by Sirius.
"You!? His favorite? Don't make me laugh, Potter." Sirius snapped, though his eyes were gleaming with amusement. He turned to Remus with a grin. "I'm his favorite, right, Remy?"
"Well," Remus tried again, only to be interrupting by James this time.
"In your dreams, Black. Why would he favor someone named after a dog star?" James argued, smirking as if he won already. "Especially when he has me, the Quidditch–"
"Obsessed idiot." Sirius interjected. "Don't you think it's a bit early to be bragging about being a Quidditch star, especially since you aren't even in a house yet?"
James scowled at him. "At least I know I'll be on the Quidditch team soon enough."
Sirius raised a brow. "Soon enough? I didn't know twenty zillion years was soon enough."
"Twenty zillion?" James snorted. "Aren't you mistaking me for you? Me, I'll be on the Quidditch team by at least next year. You, on the other hand, have absolutely no chance at all of getting on the team."
"What? I'll have you know that I am an awesome flyer." Sirius argued.
"So? You support Chudley Cannons!" James said accusingly.
"What does that have to do with anything?" Sirius snapped. His eyes were daring his friend to say it.
A smirk adorned James's face once more. "A sucky Quidditch player would support the worse team ever!" He yelled joyfully, jumping out of his seat in time to miss the punch that Sirius had aimed at him.
"They do not suck!" Sirius retorted. "They just had an off season."
"An off season every year?" James teased.
Remus sighed as he watched his two friends. They often argued like this for fun. The problem was that they were both very physical when having their fake-arguments-that-were-really-fun-and-ended-in-m ass-chaos-unless-stopped-by-Remus-of-course.
As it was, the mass chaos was soon approaching, which he could tell by the fact that James was jumping from his bench to the one Remus was on with Sirius following. They both would jump to the floor and onto their bench to avoid Remus. While this was going on, they were still shouting insults back and forth.
Seeing as they were in a small compartment and he didn't have much of a desire to get trampled on, Remus decided he should do something about this. "James! Sirius! Stop it now!"
Both boys ignored him or didn't hear him as they were too busy shouting insults and jumping around. "Stop it! You two idiots, stop!" Remus tried again, but again was ignored. Why were his friends always like this?
It seemed he would have to resort to drastic means.
Remus climbed to his feet on the bench in his corner. From his pocket he pulled his wand. If his friends were looking at him, they would have seen the dangerous glint in his eyes that spelt mischief. "Rictusempra! Rictusempra!" Two light red lights shot from Remus's wand and hit the two jumping idiots. Sirius, who had just landed on a bench, gasp and doubled-over in laughter. Being on a moving train was not good for such an action as it caused him to topple off the bench and to the ground where he continued to laugh loudly. James was hit as he was in mid-air. He fell next to Sirius and started laughing so hard that there were tears in his eyes. Or maybe the tears came from landing on Sirius's bony elbow.
"RE-MUS!" Sirius shouted through his laughter. He was now half-sprawled on James as he attempted to get up to get to Remus, but his laughter was so heavy that he kept falling back down.
"PUH-LEASE, WE'LL…HAHAHA…..BE-HAHA….B-BE-HAVE!" James pleaded, reaching out to Remus's ankle in a desperate attempt to get it to stop. "RE-RE-LEASE…..HAHAHA….US!"
Remus looked at the hand holding his ankle than at the faces of his friends which were contorted into half-pain filled and half-amused looks. He guessed that being forced to laugh that hard without being able to stop would be a bit painful, especially with the whole struggling to breathe thing.
"Oh, um, this is problematic." Remus said loudly over the laughter as he gave his friends a nervous grin. "You see, I looked up spells and learned them, but I never bothered to learn how to stop them."
"REMUS!" Two angry voices shouted through laughter.
At this, Remus fell back into his seat, laughing. "Kidding! I know it." He said, grinning as he pointed his wand at them. "Finite."
"You're, my scarred friend, are a bloody prat." Sirius declared as he picked himself up and sat him in the seat across from Remus as gracefully as he could after that act.
Unlike him, James just stood up and dropped into his seat next to Sirius. He shot Remus a glare. "That, was not necessary."
"Oh, contraire, my good friends. You would not listen and shut up." Remus replied, smiling his little innocent smile.
"Damn, not that I-am-perfectly-innocent-and-can-do-no-wrong-in-any one's-eyes-because-I-am-just-like-an-angel-but-in- reality-am-a-true-mastermind-demon-prankster smile." Sirius grumbled when he saw it. It was a truly evil smile. No one, except for Sirius's parents and those evil psychopaths like them, could resist the smile that Remus spent a few years mastering. Every time someone saw it, they just couldn't stay mad at him. He really had this innocent façade down, and used it to his advantage!
"Okay, okay!" James said. "We aren't mad at you, Remus. We were perhaps too rowdy, considering your injuries."
"Don't concede to it, Man!" Sirius declared dramatically, but as he did, Remus pulled out trick number two: the sad puppy eyes and pouty face. Remus preferred the smile, but when he had to, this was always his second choice.
James shot him a glare as if to say, thanks-a-lot-idiot-you-should-have-known-this-was- coming.
Sirius crossed his arm and stubbornly looked out the window. "I swear we'll find a way to resist that one day and be mad at you. I will hold a grudge one day, Remus John!"
The pouty look immediately disappeared to be replaced by a grin. "That will be the day, Sirius Orion."
Sirius shot him a scowl. "Don't say my middle name. I hate it."
"I know."
"Prat."
"Git."
"Bookworm."
"Pathetic boy who can't withstand even the saddest look from anyone."
"Wimpy boy who can cheat and charm his way out of any situation except punishment from his parents."
"Loser Black who can never beat said wimpy boy in anything."
"Scrawny idiot who–"
"Scrawny who?" Remus interrupted with a smile. "If I recall correctly, James in the scrawny idiot here!"
The bespectacled boy who had been watching in silent amusement up until now sat up straight in his seat to shoot a glare at his friend. "I am not scrawny! Why did you have to ruin the show like that?"
Sirius rolled his eyes. "Just learn to accept the truth, mate. You're a scrawny git!"
"Stupid friends." He grumbled.
They didn't get any farther as their compartment door was suddenly opened by a kind looking woman with a cart of sweets. "Anything off the trolley, dearies?"
The boys didn't need to be asked a second time. They were already on their feet before the lady had finished her question and purchasing any and all sweets that tickled their fancy.
All the sweets were deposited onto Remus's bench since there was more room on his side. The bandaged up boy immediately grabbed a chocolate frog.
"Figures you would go for the chocolate first." Sirius snorted as he grabbed a licorice wand.
"You really have a problem with chocolate, Rems." James added while opening a box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans.
"Don't call me that. It's Remus, you idiots. I swear! What do I have to do to get that through your thick heads?" Remus snapped, tugging at the bandages on his left arm. He figured he would have a nasty scar there as well. He did faintly remember it getting pretty scratched up by that blasted werewolf which was probably why the Healers had left it bandaged after healing the bone.
James paused in throwing a bean in his mouth. "I really don't see what your problem is with it. It's much better than Jamesie."
"Or Jamesiekin." Sirius snickered, earning a punch in the arm from James.
"Or Siri-poo." James snapped.
Sirius scowled at him. "Or Remy!"
"Remy-poo!"
"Remykins!"
"Scar boy!"
"Wimpy!"
"I hate you both." Remus grumbled, causing his two friends to grin at him.
