Marceline didn't chase them that far, just until the canyon and the door lord was out of sight before the group collapsed into a tired but happy group of friends on the floor.

Finn may be oblivious, but Jake was not. And so the magical dog was able to coax the boy out of walking Princess Bubblegum home. Insisting that Marceline and PB needed time alone to talk.

They said their goodbyes and parted their ways, with a new song stuck in their heads and a newer and even stronger bond than ever. Even more so for the Candy princess and the Vampire Queen.

The two girls, well one of them at least, walked side by side while Marceline floated along towards the castle seen somewhere off in the distance. They still had quite a ways to go and not enough words to stretch along in that time.

If either of them had the words to say. Neither of them had spoken seen they split off from Finn and Jake.

What was there to say?

There was a fight. There were broken hearts and busy lives. Years go by and suddenly this innocent human boy and his compassion to bring his friends together, brought them back together.

A song was sung full of feelings but confused emotions. More fighting. More tears.

And somehow in the end, a simple song was played, seeking answers but received none yet somehow felt fufilled just asking outloud.

What am I to you?

"Hey Bonnie?" Marceline finally called out, though her voice didn't come out as strong as she would have liked.

"Yes?"

"You tired?"

"Sort of—Aack!" Bubblegum yelped in surprised as she was suddenly swept right off her feet and placed in Marceline's lap like a chair. Or at least a floating chair.

With a firm hold around her waist, Marceline continued floating along towards the Candy Kingdom with the princess sitting in her legs.

"I'm sorry" she whimpered, unable to hold it in any longer the vampire queen buried her face in her shoulder and held her tight, fearing she would disappear from her life forever again.

She was shaking.

Bubblegum bit her lip and gently placed her arms over Marceline's, "I'm sorry too"

I do ficlets, which are stand alone short fics usually under 1,000 words that were suggested to me by people on tumblr.

But I fell in love with this one I just had to post it on my other accounts.
