For The Love Of The Game

Just perfect.

"Just fucking perfect." Haruno Sakura whispered.

First she spills coffee all over herself after stumbling in her small kitchen in her small apartment, now her car broke down in the middle of the fucking highway. Just perfect.

So here she is kicking the shit out of her car and waiting for that god damn tow truck to come. There's no one on the highway which is perfect to her. There's a big baseball game today in Suna against Konoha, a big rivalry dated back to God knows when, and everyone's bought tickets and driving all the way to watch the game. Sakura loves baseball for the love of the game, but today she only wants to get out of this damn city.

She's so caught up in her thoughts that she didn't notice a sleek black Mercedes that stopped just a few feet ahead of her car. And when she came back to reality, she saw a handsome man walking towards her in a pair of red basketball shorts and a white windbreaker. And when he got closer, she could see that his dark ebony hair was spiked up and his endless onyx eyes entrancing.

"I don't need help." She said curtly. The man smirked.

"Yeah I see that. I can see you got your car kicked completely under submission." He said with a hint of amusement. Her eyes glared at him and crossed her arms across her chest.

"Seriously, I got it. Just go away." She sighed. This man, no matter what, probably knew more about cars than she did. And if anything, if he could help, maybe she could get out of here faster. She sighed, "Do you even know anything about cars anyways?"

"Want me to take a look at it?" He smirked. This woman was stubborn, just how he liked it.

"Fine, it's not mine anyway. Just a beat up rental." He smirked.

"Yeah mine too." He said pointing his thumb behind his shoulders at his Mercedes.

That caused Sakura to giggle a little. At least this man had some sense of humor, "My name is Sakura. Haruno Sakura."

The man smirked, "Sasuke. Uchiha Sasuke." Sakura just smiled and nodded her head.

No reaction. No scream and no nothing, "She doesn't know who I am does she?" He thought.

"Why don't you try the key? See if we can get this thing started." She nodded and opened the door to her car and turned the key a couple of times.

In front of her car, Sasuke stood completely confused. Truthfully, he didn't know about cars. He just wanted to be a good person and help someone. He smirked. The dobe would probably laugh at him and never let him live it down that Uchiha Sasuke was actually trying to be a good person. He looked at the engine and his eyes followed the sound. He wiggled the part that some strange noise was coming from and surprisingly, the car started.

"What the hell?" Sakura said in surprise, a big smile on her face, "How did you do that?"

"I don't know." He shrugged.

Sakura laughed, "Thank you so much! I better call the tow truck and tell them that they don't need to come anymore."

While Sakura was on the phone, Sasuke noticed that she had luggage in her car. It looks like she was moving or at least going somewhere for vacation maybe?

"Well he didn't sound so happy but it's whatever." He heard Sakura say before flipping her phone shut.

"So where are you heading?" He asked.

"Huh?" Sasuke pointed at the luggage in her car, "Oh, I don't know actually." She said leaning against her car again, "Just had to get outta the city."

"How come?" She shrugged.

"'Cause summers over and I missed it." She smiled, "I work all the time, and it's time I started having some fun."

"Do you like baseball?" She chuckled.

"Yes. Why?"

Sasuke didn't know what made him ask her or why this question particularly, but he asked anyway, "Would you like to go?"

"What?" Sakura asked in confusion.

"Would you like to you to a baseball game with me?"

Words couldn't explain the confusion on Sakura's face. First this man helps her with her car and now he's inviting her to a baseball game?

Today was just full of surprises.

So the next thing she knew she was standing in front of Sand Field. It's a place where she's been to many times with her dad when she was young but when she grew up; she had little time for pastimes like baseball. Work consumed every little time she had and she admitted that it felt damn good to be back in this stadium.

And when she felt a hand on the small of her back, she turned to meet a Sasuke who was holding a ticket, "Here, go sit down."

"What about you?" He smirked.

"You'll see me soon." Sakura looked at him in confusion but then he left, like he was in a hurry. With no idea what was going on, she didn't know what to. Should she trust him and stay? Or just leave because she has better things to do?

The announcer was introducing members from both the Suna and Konoha. But she didn't bother to listen.

"..Catching for Konoha, Uzumaki Naruto!" Only the rambunctious screams coming from the Konoha section snapped her out of her day dream.

"And the starting pitcher for Konoha tonight, Uchiha Sasuke!" Sakura's eyes widened. There he stood, the same man that helped her with her car and invited her to this ball game, wearing number 14 on his back was the pitcher for Konoha.

"Unbelievable.." She whispered and definitely caught the look Sasuke gave her. She shook her head in disbelief and smiled.

He smirked before running off to throw some warm up pitches to the catcher, Naruto if she remembered correctly. She could tell the two had a strong bond by the way Naruto tackled Sasuke into a head-lock.

That night, Sasuke pitched a perfect game. A no-no. Something a pitcher could only dream of doing. She smiles as he is picked up by his teammates to be paraded around the field.

And as she catches his eyes in the stand, she could see him smile. And there she knew that Uchiha Sasuke wasn't going anywhere, that he's here to stay.

And she didn't mind that at all.
