What happens in Vegas Doesn't Always Stay ThereChapter 1: Vegas baby, Vegas

Harriet Lily Potter, more commonly known as Harriet Potter or as The-Girl-Who-Lived, was in a world of pain.

There was no other word for it.

Her tongue was replaced with sandpaper. Her skull was filled with cotton blocking her higher brain functions. There was a small army of tiny dwarves trying to dig their way out of her head, with a ferocity reserved only for gold mines. Her stomach was apparently learning to dance cha-cha or something similarly wild.

In other words, she had a mother of all hangovers.

She tried to open her eyes, but her eyelids were made of lead and there was too much light anyway. She groaned and closed her eyes again, snuggled into her pillow more firmly as she briefly reflected, how she had ended here….

A Few Days Earlier

After she returned from her disastrous fifth year at Hogwarts to her yearly stay in her Privet Drive prison where the Headmaster had sentenced her to without parole, she was surprised by a goblin from Gringotts. The goblin had apparated into her room on the evening of the third day of her stay in her "cell". It took her to the preliminary will-reading of one Sirius Orion Black.

In Gringotts, she found out many things that blindsided her.

For one, in his last will, Sirius enumerated a very long list of accusations often backed by evidence or pensive memories against people she considered family or friends for a few years now. Most were mainly against Dumbledore and the Weasleys.

Harriet found out that they were conspiring against her. Sirius did a pretty good job in collecting evidence against them in the last two years. He was planning to put a monkey wrench into their plans, subsequently ending it all up in destroying them. His death ultimately prevented his plans to come into fruition, but he had enough foresight to prepare his last will as a back-up plan.

It was quite a shock for her as she found how deep the betrayals from Dumbledore went. Not only that the Headmaster knew of the Potters switching their secret- keepers, but he cast the charm himself. Sirius could have been free for all this time, but he was deliberately sent to hell on earth for twelve years.

Dumbledore also sealed the Potters' last will and testament till the time she came of age. Sirius, as a witness, said that her parents added a long list of candidates for her guardianship if something happened to them and Sirius was unable to take care of her.

All of this wasn't the worst.

From evidence gathered by Gringotts, it was clear that Dumbledore was stealing money from her, although he didn't possessed a key nor an access to the Potters' main vaults.

He as Harriet's magical guardian, was able to access her trust vault. He was emptying it just after the beginning of her first year.

Her trust vault was annually refilled on a New Year to hold 10,000 galleons and he took all that was left there.

In total, it was nearly 3.000,000 pounds that he had stolen as her tuition was already paid for and she never made larger withdrawals than 50 galleons per year since she had it.

From what Gringotts gathered, she found out that a part of the money taken from her were used to pay the 20 galleons—about 1,000 pounds per month allowance to the Dursleys for taking 'care' of her, covering all the years she stayed with them.

The worst thing was that Dumbledore arranged a marriage contract between her and Ronald Bilius Weasley, right after he became her magical guardian. The contract he had created basically allowed usage of love potions on her, robbing her blind and making her a slave for Ronald throughout the marriage.

It was horrifying! She would love to deny all of this, but the hard evidence before her made it clear that all of it was the truth.

Sirius made his will as a back-up plan, in case he died before his other plans were enacted.

In this, he left instructions for a blood-adoption ritual. He even included a vial of his own blood for it. This particular ritual if performed correctly, was in accordance with the accession rights. It would make her a direct heir to The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black, as the house by-laws always preferred the most direct heir to be the Head of the House. As Sirius' daughter, it would be her and would also grant her emancipation in the process. It was crucial and would bring many benefits for Harriet.

First, if she became the Black Heir and duly emancipated, the arranged marriage contract would be rendered voided, freeing her from a horrible fate.

Second, her parent's will would be unsealed and she would be able to come to her full inheritance.

Third, after being emancipated, she would be eligible to press charges in both worlds against those who wronged her. It probably wouldn't be anything permanent in regards to Dumbledore; but the others wouldn't be so lucky. As a bonus, it would throw a VERY big monkey wrench in their plans.

Last but most importantly, the look on Draco Malfoy's face when he finds out that his birthright of becoming the head of the Black line was taken from him by his most hated adversary, would be priceless.

There were also other bequests for Sirius and her TRUE friends. He bequeathed the complete copy of the Black library to Hermione to help her prepare to deal with Voldemort and Bumbledoor.

He left a modest stipend and his complete wardrobe to Moony—Remus Lupin.

He re-installed Andromeda Tonks back into the House of Black and paid her dowry in full to her as well as a bunch of other things.

The official reading of the will would be at the fifteenth of August. She had a lot of time to prepare for it.

After she read it all, she agreed to proceed with the blood adoption. After all in her situation, it was a no-brainer!

Right before the blood ritual, she was given an in-depth medical examination by the goblin healers and what they found out quite surprised them. Between other things like traces of basilisk venom and phoenix tears in her blood, they found a small soul fragment residing in her infamous scar. Knowing that it was probably nothing good, they promptly forced it into a pig and served the pig to a dragon in their dungeons.

Other than this, she was given a clean bill of health and the goblins then proceeded with the adoption ritual.

To say that the ritual was a pleasant experience was like saying that the sky is green and the grass is blue. In short, it hurt like hell!

It had an interesting side effect as her unruly mop of hair finally straightened and became manageable as with what's most prevalent in the Black family.

There was only one thing that she found odd. Sirius willed that she has to spend a few days in Las Vegas, USA to let 'her hair down and to have some old fashioned fun'. Everything was already arranged. Sirius was planning to go with her himself but in his sudden death, he arranged that two of his most trustworthy friends and members of the family—Moony and Tonks would be acting as chaperones.

That's how she ended up on the Las Vegas Strip, Nevada, of good US of A.

She didn't expect that Moony and Tonks would go with Sirius' suggestion to get her drunk and to let her hair down seriously. Her faith in this statement crumbled to dust when Tonks handed her in their hotel suite a new outfit and a fake ID that said she was 21.

Then… then…

Then bright lights, city lights with neon flashing

Black jack and poker and the roulette wheel

Heavy top…drop dead gorgeous blonde…flirting and drinking heavily with her

Elvis?

ViVa Las Vegas!

Las Vegas turnin' day into nightime and turnin' night into daytime

A fortune won strong heart and a nerve of steel.

And the world spins her around like a record.

Harriet groaned again and snuggled into her pillow. It was soft, warm and smelled wonderfully.

As she snuggled into it, it moaned…

..

.

From when did a pillow moan? Now wait a minute!"

...

"Oh bloody fucking HELL! This SO not happening!"

Harriet's eyes shot open as her higher brain functions finally kicked in gear. She slowly lifted her head from her "pillow". There was no pillow at all! She was snuggling to someone and using that someone's breasts as a pillow! It was that blonde from her hazy memories of the last two days. On top of that, she was naked! Harriet was too!

"Fuck! What in the name of the evil happened last night?" All that was running through her head for several seconds. Replaced by a surprised "I lost my virginity to another girl!"

Harriet looked carefully around to assess the damage and to establish her own whereabouts. She came to several conclusions.

One: The clothes she was wearing the previous night were here all over the room. For instance, her bra was hanging from the chandelier.

Two: This was not her room nor the hotel where she was checked at with Remus and Tonks. This suite is large and judging from the crest on the telephone on the bedside table, her guess would be that, this was Caesar's Palace.

Three: From the date on the digital clock on the same table, she was in Vegas for three days now. What the fuck had happened? Where's Remus and Tonks?

Four: Why do I have a wedding band on my finger?

She dropped her head on the pillow and sighed, "What the hell happened?" Incidentally waking up the mysterious blonde.

The blonde groaned, slowly sat up and stretched her back, which did from Harriet's point of view, extremely curious things to her large chest. The blonde looked around and her gaze stopped on Harriet. She did a double take on her own left hand. There was the same wedding band as Harriet's. She looked back up at Harriet and said in a soft, melodious and slightly astonished voice, "Great Rao! The last two days really happened?" Followed by, "Are you all right Honey?" When she saw the look on Harriet's face.

Harriet only groaned, but then slowly answered and opened one eye, "No, but I hope that I would be. Although I must admit that the events of the last 48 hours were a bit ...hazy…" her words drifted with her nervous smile.

"That's quite understandable. Considering the amount we drank. I'm surprised that I could even remember most of last night's." Said the blonde with a kind smile.

"Great," said Harriet, "so you wouldn't mind filling several gaps in my memory?"

The blonde just shook her head.

"She was really beautiful," ran through Harriet's head as she looked on the blonde more thoughtfully. She was around her early 20's but Harriet couldn't be sure. She was taller than Harriet—around six foot tall. Her skin was flawless with a natural tan, without a single tan line or a single blemish on it. Her legs were long and smooth, with subtle muscles along them. That led up to a rounded hips and a rear that fit her perfectly. Her hips tapered off into a toned waist and stomach that guided Harriet's eyes up to her um, more than bountiful assets that gave her an hourglass figure to die for. Her face was a sight to behold with her short blond hair that stopped slightly below her jaw and clear blue eyes. She was the most gorgeous creature Harriet had ever laid her eyes on.

Harriet was, on the other hand not bad looking but she was quite short. She was 5 foot and 3 inches tall with petite frame with subtly developed muscles and filled-up in the right places. Giving her an athletic figure with a perky and firm C-cup chest. With a creamy skin contrasting with her shoulder length black hair. Her face sported high cheekbones, a button nose and gorgeous emerald green eyes that were usually framed by her thin-rimmed glasses.

"C-can you tell me your name?" Harriet stammered with a slight blush coming to her cheeks.

"You don't remember?" asked the blonde with a raised brow and a small smile.

"N-n-o-o-o. I j-j-just remember flashes. You sitting on the bar, Elvis, Roulette, Cards…" Harriet gave a stammered answer, all beet-red on the face.

"Oookay," said the blond with a broad grin. "My name is Karen Starr or now probably Potter-Black. Long story short was that you..."

"Yes, you" she emphasized at Harriet's look of shock, "picked me up on the bar and started to flirt with me. We talked and drank on the families we lost, and we got pretty hammered together. Several hours later a graying man with a pink-haired woman..."

Karen scrunched her face as she tried to remember what happened next.

"...I think you called them Moony and Tonksie or something like that. We were prettily and merrily drunk at this point and they said that they were getting married in the wedding chapel they had discovered nearby, and wanted you to be their witness. You agreed pretty readily, saying something that Sirius would approve and then you added something in a sense that you would be their witness only if they would be ours on our wedding. Then you fell on your knee and asked me to marry you, which I accepted..."

Karen paused to collect her thoughts and gave Harriet a small smile and squeezed the momentarily mortified younger woman's hand.

"...It was the most honest proposition I ever got in my life and it was quite romantic. Then, we went to the wedding chapel that Tonks and Moony had discovered. The wedding register was dressed to look like Elvis and he performed both ceremonies. Strange thing was that during both ceremonies, he was speaking Latin and waving a piece of wooden stick. Then my memory became a bit fuzzy at that point. I only seem to remember some flashes. I think we took a car and drove to Bellagio." Karen suddenly frowned and continued. "I can't get rid of the feeling that we had stolen a squad car from the LVPD." She said slowly.

"Then I remember that you were having a winning streak in blackjack and declared me your lucky charm there. You had won over $200,000. After that we moved to Cesare's Palace where you entered a poker tournament. Needless to say, you had unbelievable luck. I mean what were the odds that you would have four royal flushes in color in a row! And you won over a million dollars there. The casino manager gave us this suite and when we came here, I think that you could guess what we did after that…" She said with slight blush creeping to her face.

Harriet looked shocked at Karen and as her fuzzy memories of the last 48 hours became much clearer in her mind. And she had several ideas forming in her head.

A: Karen might not know about the wizarding world or that I am witch.

B: The wedding vow we made and the ceremony was performed magically. And knowing my luck, we might have made a vow that bound us by our souls. And it would practically be unbreakable.

C: How do I break this news to her, without totally freaking her out?"

D: We have to repeat last night's performance very soon because that was amazing!

Unknown to her, Karen had a similar line of thought. Though a tad bit different. "How do I tell her that I am kinda 'Alien' and from an 'alternative reality'. Stranded here as my reality rebooted itself and de-aged me before spitting me into this one without totally freaking her out?"

Oddly neither of them thought about divorce or breaking up their newly formed relationship.
