A/N thank you guys for all the support :) I apologize for the late update and I can promise that I'm not abandoning this or any of my other stories.
Previously: Shelby gave an assignment on 'Perceptiveness'
Shelby: Pick a song that describes how you see or feel about the person that you have picked, the song can describe your feelings or the way you see the person.
Rachel sang 'You've Got A Friend' to Wallace and Madison hates the attention the new girl had gotten. Madison sang 'Too Cool For You' to Georgia but really she directed it to everyone because she's just that conceited. Mac is up to sing her song 'Stupid Girls' by P!nk.
"Stupid girl, stupid girls, stupid girls..."
Madison's mouth dropped open in horror and wanted to object to being subjected to listen to such a song being sung to her. Shelby gave Madison a stern look that commanded her to stay seated. Madison huffed. How dare that Ghostworld call me stupid?
Mac knew that this song would be perfect when she heard it play on radio the other day. She loved P!nk and agreed with every word... This song was just kickass.
She hadn't realized that she started to sway her hips until it already happened; it was like her body was possessed or something. It was strange, she never liked to stand out much but it kind of felt nice, when she was in the moment. The adrenaline rush really was something.
"Maybe if I act like that, that guy will call me back
Porno Paparazzi girl, I don't wanna be a stupid girl"
She shook her head but her moves continued to sway. Mac never understood why girls wanted a guy that they had to change for. Then again, she didn't really understand the dating game all that much. She does, however, know that she wants a guy that likes her for her. She's not willing to change herself. She's willing to compromise, perhaps. But not change. She loves who she is. She knew that she wasn't perfect. She knew she wasn't an 'ordinary' girl. She knew she's weird and a computer. But that's the way she likes it.
Madison huffed in a low voice, "How dare she?!"
Susan and Shelly's mouth opened horrified on Madison's behalf while Carrie openly laughed. Susan glared at her BFF and Carrie shrugged but didn't let the grin fade away. It's about time Madison had a taste of her own medicine. Despite being an 09er, Carrie wasn't much of a fan of any of them. The only person she tolerated was Susan, well because Susan was her BFF.
Veronica took pleasure at Madison's demise, especially considering the fact that Mac was causing it. She bobbed her head to the song and cheered Mac on in support.
As soon as Dick heard the word 'Porno' his attention was directed to the girl with the blue streaks. She called Madison stupid and sang about porn? Awesome! "Sweet, dude, she singin' about porn?" Dick whispered to Logan.
Logan just shook his head; a grin etched its way across his lips. This girl was Veronica's friend; he should have known she had to have had some cahoonas.
Meg smiled brightly while she mouthed the words to the song and she shook her head at Dick when she heard his question. The girls that Mac sang about were the type of girls that Dick dated, point in case – Madison Sinclair.
"Go to Fred Segal, you'll find them there
Laughing loud so all the little people stare"
Mac wasn't a hateful person. She didn't hate Madison Sinclair or any of the 09ers but that didn't mean that she was supposed to bend over backward to make them happy. No, Mac was a peace lovin' kind of girl as long as nobody messed with her. She was fine being on the outside – actually she was a little bit scared of what she'd find if she looked in.
"Girls go shopping"
Mac caught glimpse of Madison's death glare and felt her nerves fading. She saw Rachel look as though she wanted to jump up and dance, so she pulled her up. Rachel smiled with bright eyes, however when she jumped up she pulled a wide-eyed reluctant Veronica.
"Looking for a daddy to pay for the champagne"
Veronica didn't know what to do. Her eyes wide while she searched for an out.
Logan bit back a chuckle at Veronica's wide-eyed expression. It was clear that she hadn't anticipated that move.
Duncan's lips curved upward. He wondered if this Glee club really could repair the bonds he'd lost. With Veronica. His eyes flickered to his best friend that was beside him. And Logan.
"What happened to the dreams of a girl president
She's dancing in the video next to 50 Cent"
Her companions seemed to revive Mac's confidence. Confidence wasn't always her strong point. She was confident about many aspects in her life. Being the centre of attention? Singing? Those were not on the list of things she was confident about.
Rachel grinned playfully and did a little booty shake, all in the sake of presentation she had thought to herself. She also wanted Duncan to think that she had confidence. Confidence was key. And if there was anything that Rachel was confident about, it was being in the spotlight, singing and dancing.
Dick's mouth dropped open when he saw what Rachel did. He gleefully took pleasure in checking her ass out.
Weevil was surprised by the action and definitely wasn't sleepy anymore. His eyes followed the girls as they pranced around the floor. He felt a chuckle build up when he looked at Veronica's caught-in-a-headlights look, it wasn't everyday that you'd see Veronica Mars without a clue. His eyes followed the new girl. He didn't know much about her. But he did know that she'd somehow befriended Veronica. Was that her new thing? Take in the helpless new sheep that came to this school? Weevil shook his head. Lilly often told him that Veronica liked taking the new students under her wing. He remembered the 'Yolanda' thing. Maybe she didn't change as much as she'd like to believe. He found something interesting in the blue-streaked haired girl. He liked that she seemed to be calling the 09er bitches out on their shit. And she was actually kind of pretty.
"They travel in packs of two or three
With their itsy bitsy doggies and their teeny-weeny tees"
All her life, she'd been an 'odd', the 'tomboy-ish' type of girl. And she was fine with that. Girls never really took interest in befriending her. And she never took the interest in wanting them to befriend her. She preferred the guy friends that she had. They understood her. They liked what she liked.
Veronica caught Meg's giggles and decided that if she had to suffer she was bringing Meg out as well. Unlike Veronica, Meg cheerfully went along with it.
Logan's eyes lingered on Veronica. He did not expect to see her be pulled up to dance along. He was not surprised that she wouldn't be pleased about it. However, that didn't mean that he couldn't enjoy it.
"Where, oh where, have the smart people gone?
Oh where, oh where could they be?"
Mac placed her finger on her chin, in a thoughtful manner. With Rachel, Veronica and Meg in the background Mac felt herself gain confidence.
Once Meg was with her, Veronica felt more at ease. Meg winked at her petite blonde friend which caused her to chuckle.
Wallace chuckled at the girls. His eyes were bright and cheerful. When he'd first met Veronica, she was a lone wolf. Now, she had her own pack. He knew that even though she had the 'tough girl' attitude down, even though she could stand on her own two feet, even though she didn't need anymore friends, he knew that it was a good thing that she had them. She might fight it but at the end of the day, everyone feels nice when there's people that cares for them. If he ever expressed this to Veronica, she'd definitely give him a snarky remark about how he's a mushy girl.
"Maybe if I act like that, that guy will call me back
Porno Paparazzi girl, I don't wanna be a stupid girl"
The girls laughed while the danced on the floor. The boys were very excited with their performance. Who would have thought that Cindy MacKenzie would have the most lively performance?
Dick continuously giggled when Mac said 'porno.' He didn't know who she was per say but she was hot. And the weird streaks thing looked kinda cool on her. A smug smile crept on his lips, he knew that Glee club would be a chick magnet.
Logan lifted an eyebrow at Dick's 'gigglish' behaviour. And then rolled his eyes. Dick wasn't a complex guy, so it was obvious that he was thinking something perverted. His eyes lingered on Veronica once again. He hardly ever saw he smile anymore. And that was his fault. He knew that. But he wanted to fix it. He wanted - he didn't know what he wanted. He didn't know how his life got so messed up.
Duncan looked at Logan's softened expression and followed his gaze to Veronica. His eyebrows furrowed, was Logan just in a daze? Did he realize that his line of sight was directed at Veronica? Duncan sighed, probably not. After he'd stopped taking the anti-depressant pills his mother gave him, he saw everything more clearly. He wanted to revive the relationships between the three of them. He just hoped that he was strong enough. He looked at Veronica, he knew that she was strong enough, why hadn't she striven to fix everything between them like she'd always done? Then again, could he have handled that back then?
"Baby if I act like that, flipping my blond hair back
Push up my bra like that, I don't wanna be a stupid girl"
Meg and Veronica added the 'dumb blonde' look while they mockingly flipped their hair.
Rachel's eyes caught Duncan's and felt a smile tickle it's way up. He was looking at her. She pushed out her chest as she followed the lyrics
Mac decided that as long as she wasn't alone, this wouldn't be so bad. Mac grinned while she sang and Madison just continued to glare daggers at them.
Dick laughed, he wasn't a fan of Veronica Mars. He was a fan of boobs. His eyes twinkled at Rachel's boldness. For a midget, she was hot. Of course, he'd seen hotter girls. He'd thought Rachel's voice was angelic. But Mac's voice was something else entirely, she wasn't as good but she was... he didn't know... he wasn't one for words but he liked it.
"Disease's growing, it's epidemic
I'm scared that there ain't a cure
The world believes it and I'm going crazy
I cannot take any more"
Mac's voice got louder with the song. She wouldn't actually tell anyone this but she sometimes felt that her mother wanted her to be one of those girls. She'd always edged her to make more friends hence this Glee club. She never understood that Mac liked alone time. Then again, she wasn't always alone considering her brother ran a wreck in her house. Still, Mac preferred being alone than in the company of superficial girls. Which is why she was glad that she's friends with Veronica. Although they were different, they weren't.
"I'm so glad that I'll never fit in
That will never be me
Outcasts and girls with ambition
That's what I wanna see"
Veronica and Mac high fived each other, they knew all too well what it was like to be an outcast. To Veronica, the entire town that was against her and her dad. To Mac, she often felt that she was an outcast in her own family, not to mention she wasn't exactly Miss popular in school.
Rachel was that girl, she was an outcast and here she's trying to fit in but she'd befriended the school's outcast. And surprisingly, she's okay with that. She thought that maybe it'll be okay if she told Veronica and Wallace why she really moved here.
"Maybe if I act like that, that guy will call me back
Porno Paparazzi girl, I don't wanna be a stupid girl
Baby if I act like that, flipping my blond hair back
Push up my bra like that, I don't wanna be a stupid girl"
"I don't wanna be a stupid girl!" Dick shouted out at the end and everyone laughed at him and cheered on the girls.
Madison glared at Mac and remarked, "You're just jealous of me because I'm more popular than you."
Mac rolled her eyes. She'd rather be the computer geek than Madison Sinclair.
~~Next day~~
The word is out. Our illustrious Guidance Counsellor has received a grant to study the long term effects of grief in adolescence. She's demanding an audience with each of us hardest hit by Lilly's death. I was going to decline a session, then I had a thought...
Suddenly, a loud noise erupted from outside the office. Veronica's eyes automatically found herself looking for the cause, it was a bunch of naked boys, save for shoes and ski masks that raced down the hallway.
"Does that happen often?" Rachel asked with distaste apparent in her features.
Veronica nodded her head. "I cannot wait to get out of Neptune."
Rachel couldn't disagree. She belonged in New York; she could barely wait to get there.
"So what are you in for?" Veronica quizzed. She had pinned Rachel as being a good never-get-into-trouble type of girl. Almost like the girl that she'd used to be...
Logan had confidently walked into Mr Van Clemmon's office with an easy going attitude while Veronica nervously walked in behind Logan. Mr Clemmon's looked Logan and let out a heavy sigh. "Logan Echolls. I see we're making our visits a weekly ritual."
Logan shrugged with a grin spread out on his lips, "Only so we can have these moments together."
His eyes went to the petite blonde straight A student that came into his view. "Veronica Mars, I'm surprised to see you here."
She sucked in a breath. Her eyes filled with remorse. She bit her lip. "Mr Clemmons, Mr Daniels is completely over-reacting..." Logan lifted an eyebrow at the blonde beside him. His eyes softened at her innocence and gently touched her arm, wordlessly saying that he'd take care of it.
"Veronica while I understand that you're an excellent student your choice in company was bond to get you into trouble."
Veronica wrinkled her nose. "I can assure you that I have done nothing wrong," her eyes glimmered and Mr Clemmon's would have believed her if she hadn't said, "And neither did Logan."
Mr Clemmons' let out a heavy sigh, "Miss Mars-"
Veronica's eyes widened as she stated her case, "Mr Daniels is out to get me because I corrected his correction of my essay on the Merchant of Venice. All Logan did was agree with me. And then he called us disrespectful."
Both Mr Clemmons' and Logan had thought that Veronica was going to tear up. Mr Clemmons' had let them of with a warning and Logan watched the scene unfold with disbelief. He'd never underestimate Veronica Mars again.
Rachel shook her head, an indication that she was not in any trouble, "Oh, I need to make a few adjustments to my schedule and I'm joining a bunch of clubs."
"A bunch?" Veronica lifted an eyebrow. She was right.
"Well in order to achieve my dream to get into my dream school Julliard I need to have as much as extra-curricular activities as I can get," the petite brunette told her. "In Lima, I was an active member of the Glee Club, Speech Club, Mock United Nations Club, Renaissance Club, Muslim Students Club, and Black Student Union."
Veronica's eyes were wide. "Wow, that's impressive." Veronica was not apart of any clubs – except the glee club - however she is working her butt of so that should carry weight for her, right?
Rachel got a look of determination. "When you have a goal, you do whatever you have to achieve it."
Veronica nodded. A small smile passed her face; my goal is to make the sonofabitch that murdered my best friend rot behind bars.
"Veronica?" Rebecca James appeared with a file in hand. "Sorry to make you wait. Come on in."
Veronica gave Rachel a little see-you-later wave and Rachel returned it with a bright smile. Veronica was amused at how enthusiastic Rachel seemed to be.
