I was hit was inspiration today. Don't think I've given up on this story. I won't ever end it I think, I'll just upload like never. Actually that's really bad. I've been writing for other fics, but not uploading. I have so many oneshots and different story ideas for other series, not this one. AB is pretty hard to turn into a good story, if that makes any sense. Well this chapter is thanks to Keepingthebeatssince1996. I got your message today since I don't check my messages (I assumed they would go to my email, guess I was wrong.) I liked your idea so I wrote this. It's supposed to be lighthearted I guess, reading back, it doesn't seem like it. Enjoy!
This is the longest AN I've ever written…
It was a beautiful sunny day. There was nothing to do in the afterlife, and all the SSS members were quite happy with this relaxed atmosphere, including the division team.
Iwasawa stretched contently. Hisako stared out the window with a vacant look in her stormy eyes. The two were just sitting in the abandoned classroom, enjoying each other's company.
"Just like the old times huh?" Iwasawa chuckled to herself, casting a quick glance over at Hisako. It had been a while since the two were alone; with Yui and Sekine around things were rarely this calm. Chaa had given Sekine an old metal detector he had lying around, and she, Yui, and Irie had been digging things up nonstop. Bottle caps, springs, old car tires, golf clubs, anything and everything.
Today, the blonde had announced her grand discovery of some sort of buried treasure over in the woods by the baseball field, so she and Yui had dragged Irie, Hinata, Ooyama, and a few others to "help" them dig it up. By "help," they meant "sit back and shout orders while the idiots dig."
Well that was just her theory.
Hisako's disinterested eyes scanned the perimeter below her. There were a few NPC's walking around, some birds in the sky; not much to keep her attention fixed for very long.
Well, a bird just pooped on some poor NPC's head. She felt her lips quirk up in an amused smirk as she watched the poor guy run around in circles frantically before finally racing inside; probably to use the restroom.
Once he was gone, the bored look was back in her eyes, and she yawned before stretching. She turned to her redhead best friend, who for once, was not hunched over writing some new lyrics or music. The girl was simply sitting there tracing circles on her desk, humming quietly as she did.
"Hey Hisako, have you ever have a boyfriend?"
Hisako snapped out of her daze. "Huh? What?" she asked blankly, finally focusing her gaze on Iwasawa.
"Have you ever had a boyfriend?" Iwasawa repeated, leaning back in her chair with an expectant gaze at her best friend.
Hisako felt a slight tinge tickle her cheeks. "W-why do you want to know?" she asked, flustered.
Iwasawa shrugged carelessly. "Why won't you tell me?" she countered, an amused smile on her lips.
Hisako scowled at her friend before her blush returned and she looked at the floor. "W-well I have, if that's all you want to know." She replied, casting Iwasawa a quick glance.
Iwasawa crossed her legs. "Really? What was his name?" she asked, enjoying the flustered look on the guitarists' face.
Hisako sighed; might as well tell the girl what she wants to know. It was just Iwasawa after all. She trusted the girl, and it's not like she had anything to lose by telling her. It was nice anyways, just talking to her best friend. And it was always nice, being open with Iwasawa. Something she could have never done when she was alive.
"Which one?" she asked the redhead.
Iwasawa quietly snickered. "Which one? How many were there Hisako-chan?" she asked teasingly.
Hisako blushed a bright red. "Shut up! You asked." She snapped back, embarrassed.
Iwasawa merely smiled at her, shrugging. "How should I know? How about the one you remember the most?"
Hisako shrugged. "Okay. I think he was the last one, before I died and stuff." She said thoughtfully.
Iwasawa tilted her head to the side. "Name?" she asked again.
"Well his name was Kairo. Takenaka Kairo." She replied.
Iwasawa nodded slowly. "Takenaka Kairo? What was he like?" she asked curiously, now intrigued.
Hisako exhaled slowly, thoughtfully. "Well he had dark brown hair, kinda longish I guess. It was down to right below his ear. His ears were pierced, and he had green eyes. He was pretty tall I guess, and he was really smart. He loved the ocean, and he loved science. He was a pretty good athlete too, but not as good as me."
Iwasawa rolled her eyes and gestured for Hisako to continue.
Grinning cheekily, she went on. "He was a little lost for some time, but after I kicked his butt he shaped up. His favorite color was grey for some reason. I remember I always used to tease him about it, but he never told me why he liked grey so much. He was really popular too, he always knew how to cheer me up. And he was always there for me, I think. Um, what else do you really want to know?" she asked Iwasawa.
Iwasawa nodded, absorbing this new-found information. "That's nice. He sounds like a good guy." She replied. Hisako smiled fondly at the memory.
"Yeah. He was." She replied nostalgically. They lapsed back into a comfortable silence.
Hisako turned back to Iwasawa, and asked "So who was your first boyfriend?" she asked the redhead.
Iwasawa shrugged. "I don't think I ever dated anyone. Not officially anyways. I was always too absorbed in other things, especially my home life, so I never considered dating. I wasn't exactly popular in school either." She replied.
"Oh yeah. Haha, sorry." Hisako grinned sheepishly. Iwasawa chuckled, leaning back in her seat.
"So who was your first kiss?" Iwasawa asked, an uncharacteristic glint of mischief in her eyes.
Hisako stared blankly at Iwasawa. "Um. Well, it was with Kairo. A few weeks after he asked me out, we went for a walk in a park and we kinda sat there at night looking at the moon and stars and stuff. And he just kissed me." She responded to her friend's question.
Iwasawa smiled. "Aww. That's nice. Wish mine could've been that happy." She nodded, satisfied at Hisako's response.
Hisako did a double take at the (rather clueless) redhead. "Wait, didn't you just say you've never had a boyfriend?" she asked.
Iwasawa looked at her and blinked. "Oh, well I don't think it was official. But he was my first kiss." She replied like there was absolutely nothing wrong with what she said.
Hisako squinted at her. "So you've never had a boyfriend, but you've kissed someone?" she asked.
Iwasawa tilted her head and put a hand on her chin in thought. "Well he kissed me. Does that count?" she asked innocently.
Hisako almost strangled herself in exasperation. "Well he kissed you didn't he? He gave the kiss, you received it. So you were involved in it." She tiredly explained to her companion.
Iwasawa blinked. "So it does count?" she asked.
Hisako smacked her forehead. "Yes. You were the one being kissed, so yes. Yes it does count."
Iwasawa nodded. "Oh, I see." She said thoughtfully.
Hisako arched an eyebrow. "So? Spill!" she demanded.
Iwasawa's vibrant eyes floated to a cloud in the beautiful blue sky. "Well, he was basically the boy who lived next door. We did go to the same school, but we never saw each other in school because he was in a different class that was far from mine. But we always walked to school together. He wasn't really popular, he was really quiet, but he wasn't shunned either. He did have his own problems too. Different from mine, granted. We always met up for lunch though, while he was around."
Hisako raised her eyebrows curiously. "While he was around? What happened?" she asked, leaning on her elbows.
"Well he had to leave because of his parent's work." Iwasawa explained.
"Were you upset?" The brunette asked. This was a side of Iwasawa that no one ever saw, and it was really really interesting.
"Well yeah, he was my only friend at the time." Iwasawa chuckled softly.
"Was he upset about it?" Hisako asked.
"He was really upset about it, but of course it couldn't be helped." Iwasawa laughed softly at the obvious question.
"He begged his parents to let him stay behind, but of course that couldn't happen."
Hisako nodded slowly, trying to feel her friend's pain. "So what happened next?"
Iwasawa stretched, trying to remember exactly what happened. "Well that night, right before he left, he came next door to my house and pretty much cried about leaving. Then he kissed me, got in the car, and left. I never saw him again."
Hisako looked sadly at her friend. "That's terrible." She remarked quietly. Iwasawa shrugged.
"It happens right? Honestly, I was more upset about losing the friend I shared my music with than the kiss and all that. The kiss didn't really mean anything to me." She said blatantly, leaving Hisako with a shocked expression.
Hisako gaped at her friend. The boy was clearly in love with her from what she heard from Iwasawa. The redhead treated it like it was nothing, but this boy obviously cared a great deal about her. What a horrible way to break someone's heart! She resolutely hoped Iwasawa would never meet with this boy again, lest the poor thing's heart was shattered.
It was actually a bit comical. Iwasawa was a music nut through and through. Of course she would be more upset about the music than the people. It was really just like her, to be so insensitive to others where music was involved. Hisako chuckled to herself. "What an interesting person."
"Hey Hisako didn't you tell me about some loser that tried to hit on you when you were in high school? You never told me what happened at the end." Iwasawa said, switching their mindsets.
Hisako chuckled. "Oh yeah, that was interesting. So basically when I went to high school there was this guy who was a huge jerk. He was a player, big time, and no one ever really rejected him cuz he was pretty good looking. He decided he wanted to date me, and I decided I didn't like him very much. So every time he tried to hit on me, I would completely shoot him down and insult him. He didn't really care though, for some reason, and one day he tried to ask me out in front of everyone. And when he did, he wrote it on the board for everyone to see."
Iwasawa chuckled. "What'd he write?" she asked amusedly.
Hisako groaned. "He wrote "Hisako Fujibayashi, we should go out." And the teacher walked in soon after. The only thing she seemed to see was my name on the board, so she gave me detention and the guy got away with nothing."
Iwasawa laughed at her friend's furious expression. "That's definitely something that would happen to you. What happened next?" she asked, still chuckling.
Hisako made a face. "Well when I got out of detention I was pretty mad. And he was there, waiting for me with that stupid smile of his on that stupid face of his. And he kept smiling at me like there was nothing wrong and it was pissing me off. Suddenly, I had the urge to punch the smile off his face, so I lost it and beat him up."
Iwasawa was full out laughing now. Hisako sat there with her arms crossed and a proud smile on her face. Of course she was completely unashamed of what she'd done.
Iwasawa straightened herself up. "Then what?" she asked.
Hisako's proud posture suddenly slumped. "I got more detention." She mumbled, a slight blush adorning her cheeks.
Iwasawa snickered. "Of course you did."
Hisako puffed her cheeks. "Shut up." She retorted indignantly. Iwasawa laughed again at Hisako's annoyed expression.
The door suddenly burst open, revealing Yui, Sekine, Irie, and an exhausted Hinata, Ooyama, and Takamatsu all leaning on their knees panting.
"W-We found it!" Sekine proudly puffed.
Iwasawa raised her eyebrows at their disgruntled appearances. They were all covered in dirt and grime, their hair messed up, and they just looked awful through and through. "Found what?" she asked the energetic blonde.
Sekine straightened herself, a proud gleam in her cerulean eyes. "This!" she exclaimed, proudly holding a spatula in her hand.
Hisako had a disappointed expression. "That's it?" she asked disbelievingly.
Sekine beamed proudly. "Yup! That's what it was! I couldn't dig it up by myself so I asked these guys for help."
Hinata shot her a death glare, still panting. "We went all that way, did all that work just to find THAT?!" he half growled, half panted.
Yui stuck her tongue out at him. "You got a problem with that?" she asked, in that obnoxious provoking way of hers. Hinata glared at her.
"Why you little- OW OW OW OW OW OW!" he howled as Yui performed a painful-looking wrestling move on him, twisting his leg in a direction that it probably shouldn't be twisted in. He countered with his own move, and they ensued in a rather violent wrestling match.
Hisako exhaled exasperatedly and turned her attention away from the two. "So you spent your whole afternoon looking for a spatula?" she asked the remaining people.
They all nodded. "Yup." They grumbled/beamed.
Iwasawa chuckled.
"Some things never change huh?"
I normally write on a whim, I don't sit down and plan out exactly what I'm gonna write so maybe that's why my endings are always so awkward. Haha. Hahahaha. Well anyways, hope you enjoyed the chapter. Huge thanks to Keepingthebeatssince1996 for the idea. Sparked a whole scenario, and I wrote this in one night. Thanks again! I was really excited to write this after I got your message. Honestly, I don't check my messages so that's why this is so overdue. Big thanks to the readers, reviewers, followers, favorites, I'll try to be good and actually write for this fic while I have time. High school sucks man.
